His defense reminds of Steph, but with a crazy high motor and more length: Always in the right position, good on the back line as a communicator, will try to contest everything that makes sense, but with some added length and footspeed.
I wouldn't hedge on that All Star nod. Leading a team for 4 years in +/- is... well the list says it all. Very, very rare. That list was ONLY Hall of Fame players plus Korver.
I'm also enamored by his fit on Toronto. Their goal seems to be "get the longest player possible at every position". They finally gave up on the idea of playmaking entirely by committee, but they've struggled with what kind of guard they want since Lowry and then Van Vleet left. Out with the meatballs; Quicky fits SO WELL into their existing Length At All Costs plan in a way that Schroeder hasn't. The only thing left is to find a proper BIG big to fight the really big centers in the league and they have an interesting team.

I think Raps didn't care to go all with their roster transition in recent years and some of their young guys that weren't a fit for the future were due big pay outs. The cool thing is that the Raps talent does allow for a small talented moving shooter to flourish with the length and athleticism in wings that they have. It was a matter of finding that young talent available in the trade market.

Both Maxey & Quickley are close friends.
Quickley and Maxey were on Kentucky team together.
Quickley was teams leading scorer and best shooter, Maxey was 2nd leading scorer.
Both went in late 1st round of the same draft. Maxey at 21st pick, Quickley at 25th pick.
There game is very similar, I'm sure they worked out a tone together as both close friends.
Maxey likely took some things from Quickley game.
Quickley was 2nd year player in college, Maxey was 1st year player when they played together at Kentucky.
      1 year apart in age.
We do know Maxey took things from James Harden, added Harden step back which he directly learned from Harden.
Maxey is a great development story.
He was a bad shooter in college and early in NBA, he later developed into an elite shooter.
He can shoot from everywhere, very elite pull up shooter.
He was primary a paint scorer, who burned players with raw speed, turning the corner & changing direction quick.
Add the already gifted paint scoring and he's now a 25+ PPG scorer & soon superstar.
Quickley in comparison was an elite shooter in college & NBA.
He was always a shooter, he like Maxey had elite speed.
Both same size, Quickley having 6ft 8 wingspan which is much bigger then Maxey.
Maxey is much better at getting to the rim, although Quickley is pretty good at it too.

He definitely wants to be a star in crunch time but it's also a bit awkward when Scottie is coming into his own and ready to break out into an all-star and now suddenly has to sacrifice some of his numbers and possessions. The proof is that they've butted heads over who handles the ball in crunch time and that actually worries me. I know he probably feels free from playing behind ball-dominant players like Randle and Brunson, but I hope that he buys into the system.
But still, as a Toronto fan, I've been waiting for years for a player like Quickley, especially watching Maxey bust our ass every matchup. We've needed this type of scoring power ever since Lou Will left.

Quickley is definitely great value for the Raps. He gives them outside shooting which the Raps have been lacking outside of Barnes improving numbers and Trent Jr. He's not a huge liability on defense which the Raps have solid wing bodies anyway. Its just a matter of IQ betting on himself and his favorable skillset to work with the team like a former Raps point guard did. Some folks are making a stink he'll be getting like 28m/yr offers as an RFA but I doubt that. Considering bad teams with cap space don't have the talents to make IQ work just purely as a moving shooter.

Quickley was 2nd year player in college when Maxey was 1st year player when they played together at Kentucky.
1 year apart in age. (Maxey is 23, Quickley is 24).
We do know Maxey took things from James Harden, he himself says he took the step back from Harden having watched him play .
Maxey is a great development story.
He was a bad shooter in college and early in NBA, he later developed into an elite shooter.
He can shoot from everywhere, very elite pull up shooter.
He was primary a paint scorer, who burned players with raw speed, turning the corner & changing direction quick.
Add the already gifted paint scoring and that makes an unstoppable scorer.
Maxey is now a 25+ PPG scorer & soon superstar.
Both Maxey & Quickley were 6 men off the bench.
Quickley was actually better then Maxey, better advanced stats, impact metrics up until this season.
Quickley for his career in comparison was an elite shooter in college & NBA.
He was always a shooter, he like Maxey had elite speed.
Both same size, Quickley having 6ft 8 wingspan which is much bigger then Maxey.
Maxey is much better at getting to the rim, although Quickley is pretty good at it too.
Also Quickley as a starter on the Knicks averaged:
      (30 games)
      22 PPG
      5 RPG
      5 APG
      46% FG
      39% from 3 (6 per game)
He's had some monster games as a starter including dominating the Celtics in a 38 point, 9 assist OT win on the road in Boston.
Everytime he starts he dominates. Missing only opportunity.
      His advanced & impact metri

Thibs does not gamble, which is bad and good. Good for the players because they will practice to be better at D, and also bad if the player is definitely bad in offense because he will never see the court. There are players that no matter how hard they try, they are bad at D.

How will their cap be screwed? Barnes is in line for the max extension in regards where he got drafted and how he's performing. Siakam def earned his money. Also look at the teams with the projected big cap space next offseason and tell me if they are willing to offer IQ a big chunk of their cap with how shitty their rosters may be. Raps have the leverage of IQ being an RFA and the market ultimately dictating if they feel he's a big money player.

    • @Shaw_Cardboard_Treasures
      @Shaw_Cardboard_Treasures 4 месяца назад

@@t4d0W you can go to spotrac and check. Raptors have 47mil in practical cap space. They have only 8 players signed for next year. If they re-sign Pascal that's almost all you cap space. 142mil. If IQ goes and have a good season. He is going to ask for 25mil plus. And you still don't have a bench. GT2 is making 18mil this year. You guys would be pushing upon the 2nd tax apron 190mil. That's crazy for a team not playing for a ring . Yeah maybe playoff team. But that's it. Just keeping it real.

Quickley has not even close to his ceiling. As Knicks fan Tom Thibadeau can hinder the offensive growth of his young players. Quickley should have been a starter 2 seasons ago but Thibs had Alec Burks starting. Why? No clue when Quickley was right there. His substitutions did not help him either. Quickley would get on a role and Thibs would take him out of the game in the middle of a great run from him. All for defense and that Thibodeau stubborness! Imm glad Quickley got outta that situation and has a chance to grow even more offensively, His defense is above average so no worry there. I hope he can become a star. IQ will be missed.😊

you can't start quickley and brunson together. That backcourt is just too small so you have to trade one of them. And as long as Quickley was a backup pg there, no one trading a legit star for just him. Plus, how are you going to put OG and precious in the same category? OG's one of the best 3&d wings in the league, something the Knick needed the most. Precious is a bonehead.
