    #LG #OLED LG 27GR95QE Vs Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED vs Mini LED
    Hi Friends Welcome to Viktors Reality:
    today I have my review on the LG 27GR95QE-B Gaming Monitor. I cover real world scenarios from gaming brightness to how light may effect you viewing experience on this anti glare coated monitor.Welcome to the Worlds first 240hz OLED gaming monitor the LG Ultragear 27GR95QE.
    LG 27GR95QE-B 240hz OLED Gaming Monitor Review LG Ultragear 2023
    Brightness - 6/10
    Display Test HDR showed: 603 Max 150
    2 Ambient Light Testers Showed the following:
    970nits @3% / 300+nits @50% / 170nits @100%
    *Comparable to an Odyssey G70A or Gigabyte M28U. Both if these monitors have a overall SDR brightness of around 300-350nits
    Display Image Quality - 8/10
    Sharpness & Speed are two words that showcase the power of OLED vs any other technology. Even see here in this review. The LG looked clearer and sharper albiet due to the smaller size vs the Samsung Odyssey Neo G8.
    Matte Screen - 7/10
    This screen is reflective. Not Ultra Matte like the Odyssey Neo G8 This monitor looks wet vs the Neo G8's dry paper look. This problem is when there is alot of light reflecting it lowers the percieved brightness and picture impact alot. This should be mainly used in a Light controlled room. While having a Oily / Vasaline coating look...The clarity is still seen even by this issue.
    Gaming - 7/10
    Gaming have been amazing. The clarity of OLED at 27" really is a step above the rest. While a tad more brightness would have made this a much more enjoyable experience as I love brightness impact still the clarity cant be overstated. This is the clearest monitor in motion I have ever seen.

    I don't understand the need for so much brightness. Am I missing something here? I literally turn down the brightness on every monitor I have ever owned down to around 30-50%. Otherwise it makes my eyes bleed.

    • @danschmidt6206
      @danschmidt6206 Год назад +7

      I do agree that I rarely run with max brightness. However, remember that TV's and monitors lose their brightness over time. Generally, a monitor's useful life is considered based on how many hours until its half its brightness as it originally was.
      So if a monitor comes already fairly dim on day 1, this will be the brightest it ever will be. Additionally, I believe the likelihood of burn-in on OLED's increases with higher % brightness settings.
      Ultimately, a monitor that comes fairly dim just means it's less flexible on your lighting situation and needs to drive the pixels harder, possibly reducing the lifespan.

    Hello Victor…great job on the video 👍🏾. I have been using this monitor for a week now, connected via displayport 1.4 with my RTX 3080TI gpu Windows 11 PC and HDMI 2.1 ultra speed cable to Xbox series X. I play video games such as Apex Legends, Dead by Daylight, etc. and also stream these games. Love the Oled color, the crisp video, brightness, and no lag.
    There are some settings adjustments required in both monitor and PC.
    Lg monitor: Set energy savings off and select either Gamer 2 or Vivid.
    PC: For RTX gpu, open Nvidia control panel and select set up G-sync. Enable settings for the selected display. Change resolution PC to 2560x1440 (native) and refresh rate 240Hz. If you are using other gpu, go to display settings and turn on HDR setting. Next select advance display settings. Select the correct display and verify refresh rate set to 240Hz. If you are using windows 11, download Windows HDR Calibration from Microsoft store. Launch app, set minimum luminance to zero, maximum luminance to 1500 and maximum full frame luminance test to 1500.

      Thx friend... I tried testing with Display Test HDR the official Vesa win app. Mine shows in HDR 603nits max and 150 min. Can you check to see what yours says. I think the data is off. Its the official vesa windows apl call display test hdr. I have got a couple of friends who also bought this and they report the exact numbers. Thats not possible as there is no way 5 monitors will have the exact numbers due to panel variance.

      you will always sport enemies better with ips panels...cuz they dont have real blacks and never will. So with oled you either have to raise the black levels (brightness slider) ingame or play with this shadow setting in the menu of the monitor.

    Thank you for the video, you helped me decide on ordering this beast. It was between the Zowie XL2566k and this OLED. I'll be coming from a Viewsonic X270 elite (1080p). I'm a huge stickler for motion clarity and this looks clear enough for me to drop my strobed (BFI) monitor. I tryhard at Planetside 2 so the ridiculously low input lag will be aweome. The picture quality difference, I can already tell, will be MIND-BLOWING! Thanks for reading my blog post.

  • @VectorGaming4080
    @VectorGaming4080 Год назад +3

    Great review. I really want to see more comparisons of its pixel response time and motion clarity compared to not only other OLEDs, but LCD panels (and even a CRT if possible).
    I feel like the complaints about brightness are from people misunderstanding OLED. They hear how OLED gives incredible contrast and think that it must be accomplished through brute force of brightness, but really it’s the lack of brightness in the shadows and darker tones that make OLED’s HDR performance so spectacular. Using this display in a bright office environment, while totally usable, is like judging an off-road vehicle by its MPG on the highway. OLEDs are meant to be used in dim or dark environments, and people have gotten used to playing/working in bright environments at home because edge-lit LCD does not benefit from dark environments. Actually, the darker the room, the worse LCD panels often look.

    To me this is an almost perfect monitor except I'm somewhat used to my workflow on a 32" 4K and wouldn't really want to change from that. The brightness isn't a problem for me as my room doesn't tend to get direct sunlight so it never really gets too bright. If anything, my current display doesn't go dim enough when all other room lights are turned off. Anyway, a 32-34" 4K version of this would be absolutely perfect for me.

    My biggest issue with this monitor is that LG has yet to provide a proper Win10/Win11 driver which means that HDR isn't performing correctly with a PC (due to the lack of HDR ICC profile). SDR does look nice once dialed in due to the deep blacks and vivid colors. I have it set to around 70% brightness to reach 120 nits for regular desktop/office use but it just lacks the "pop" that you get from OLED TVs even in a dark room

    I finally bought this baby today! I am coming from Asus Rog Swift PG278Q 1440p 144hz monitor to this one. I am not sure what the whole issue is here. People crying about anti-glare coating and stuff. This is a gaming monitor, not a TV. Get over it, lol. My Asus looked amazing, being an 8bit TN panel with an anti-glare coating. It was considered one of the best gaming monitors of its time. Even now, it is probably one of the best 1440p 144hz monitors out there. The Asus has 350cm/m2, and I am a dark room gamer and had to lower the brightness to 45 percent. Otherwise, my eyes would bleed, lol. 200cm/m2 is plenty for dark room gaming and probably for medium lite rooms. I never had an issue with Asus at 45 percent brightness with the sun directly shining from window behind when I felt like opening the curtains.

      The LG is not as clear in motion as the Zowie 1080p DyAc monitors with the backlight strobing turned on. My 240hz DyAc monitor doesn't show blur on the UFO at 960 pixels per second where the OLED shows blur anywhere above 240, but the LG OLED does not suffer from the overdrive/strobe artifacts of an LCD either. If you are comfortable gaming at 1080p, the Zowie 360hz is definitely better in motion. If you want to play a larger variety of games and especially if you want to play at 1440p, I think the LG OLED is superior to every other display on the market. It's as good as you're going to get for competitive games without using a Zowie, and I don't regret switching to OLED.
