I feel like.. these guys should be considered one of the best.. I feel like this is some of the most beautiful music ever. Why isn't this more Mainstream
Mainstream music listeners could handle the awesomeness of The Dear Hunter
could not
Dude The Dear Hunter has been my favorite band since 07-08 I can't remember the year I saw them in CT on Halloween. They are so beyond underrated. They literally have no bad songs. Every single song is a banger 😅❤
The Dear Hunter to me is the pinnacle of creativity in music. There is nobody else who sounds remotely like them. I love them so much
God, I love his voice.
0:43 Bring You Down
7:10 Shame
13:41 Things That Hide Away
20:11 Girl
26:18 Whisper
Thanks... That dude that talks in between songs drives me nuts
THANK YOU
You da real MVP
+
Thanks!!🤙❤
Nick is having such a good time on the drums, makes me smile every time it cuts to him
He gives Mick Fleetwood a good run for his money when it comes to the funny faces while playing.
Casey's voice is what you hear upon your arrival into the afterlife..... Reading off all of your ms. Deeds
Ms. Deeds! I see what you did there😂
If he isn't there I demand a refund
Casey in a fucking genius man.
One of the best songwriters of our time.
Matt Dargis I remember when I went back to The Receiving End of Sirens only for me to think "the singer sounds an awful lot like The Dear Hunter singer." The more you know.
@@matthewlongtin4148 wow holy shit
The internet would be all for nothing if it wasn't for Audiotree and KEXP
And tiny desk
9 years later, and I still love listening to this. Migrant-era will always hold a special place in my heart because of where I was in my life when that album dropped. And hearing Casey's amazing vocals on this and realizing he's only gotten better since then is pretty incredible.
Got me through some rough times as well
same here. they helped me a lot through tough times.
Probably already know but Dear Hunter is going on tour for the ten year anniversary of Migrant towards the end of the year. I am extremely excited
@@tontocorazon I already have tickets for the Seattle show, but I appreciate you looking out!
@@beastaish hell yeah!
Best audiotree session I've ever heard. First heard these guys from the BTBAM/the dear hunter split and these guys are something else definitely picking up every album!
dirtyreggae holy shit that exist? Love both bands and never knew that was a thing
Exactly the same for me. Got into a lot of bands because of btbam. The Dear Hunter are on another level musically. Just sublime. Probably my two favorite bands.
There’s a BTBAM audio tree?!?!
Check out AT's Phox full session. They compliment each other so well. But the Color Spectrum Albums by TDH are what bands can only dream of doing, and doing well.
Saw these guys live awhile back, but this audiotree session really does them justice. What appropriate arrangements and great execution.
I've probably listened to these songs over 200 times, yet I'm only now just picking up on subtle instrumentalities. This band never fails to impress!
X X Y it’s very strange hearing a different mixing, the strings and drums are typically much quieter in their recorded songs
I sold the drummer some gear when I worked at a guitar center in Massachusetts. Legit nicest guy. Been a fan ever since.
Whisper is such an amazing song
Good lord I love The Dear Hunter. Such a unique sound
Deserves a LOT more views. Great sound.
"Shame" belongs on a James Bond Soundtrack, that song is straight up sex.
Still one of the best produced and best performed sessions.
I still just can't get over how good that snare sounds. I've seen this set like... 20 times. And I just can't figure out how they made it sound perfect.
Good drummer thats how.
also the snare is loud as hell.. they could turn down a little bit so the vocals and the high note instruments as a hole could be more pronounced
@@realbento Nah it's perfect
@@realbento lol
@@realbento I guess its the Overheads, they're too high and not very well cleaned but, it gives that effect of "live sesh" and imo i kinda dig it
I've listened to this so many times and I'm still blown away
Love the strings and the snaredrum sound . This is awesome
"Whisper" ... WOW. I mean, the whole thing is good.. but damn. Powerful closing to this set. Deserves more views
Absolutely beautiful. Been listening to them since 2012. Favorite band in the universe!!
Its crazy that Casey wrote and produced evry part of all tjese songs.
The drummer has some serious groove going on. Kinda sounds like Josh Eppard.
J.McCarthy or thomas haake too
He even keeps his mouth open like Josh
Love seein' coheed chat in the wild
That's why they've toured together so much! They're really good friends and seeing them together is one of the best concert experiences I've ever witnessed!
Talent runs rampant in this family.
This band is seriously amazing! I need more!
This band has always been great live. I saw them open for a Coheed and Cambria show back in 2017 and it was awesome. Was glad I got there early enough.
Aww I got there late and missed the whole set except for the last song. I was utterly devastated!!!
this is brilliant! i am mesmerized by how good this band is i just seen a random rig rundown of theres and have been hooked ever sence.
one of the most expressive bands. much love!
You're all the greatest! Thank you so much for sharing your music with the world.
This is why I click on random music videos. To find gems like this.
I needed this today. Love these guys so much.
I always seem to find yet another hidden gem i didn’t know existed! You’re library is immaculate. What u do is unique and raw as hell . Keep it up
this makes me so happy, thank you
Wonderful Songs! Great Musicians! Thank You!
Beautiful live versions.
IF WHISPER DOESNT GET YOUR SOUL MOVING, YOURE PROBABLY DEAD. cap locks. my bad
Love these guys..
Now I'm even more excited to see them play w/ BTBAM
Joseph Bastidas that shit was sick af
yes yes yesssss. so damn good
Casey's timbre reminds me of Claudio from Coheed; this band is great, thanks for the upload
Did you see that they are touring together?!
Nice! thanks for the heads up
Caught their show in Houston, it was amazing. hope you guys got to enjoy it too lol. Two favorite bands on one stage, yeah buddy!
Was also at the Houston show. I was so excited to see that many people packed in for a couple prog bands. Such a great show.
I love how happy Nick looks during Whisper.
found these guys listening to Thank You Scientist radio on spotify, wish I found them sooner!
Great performance. Beautiful songs.
Hope to see in Barcelona ...
How fitting I heard of these first in a talk that also included Dredg and Aereogramme
This is so good.
Shout out to Chris Baum (1:04) from Bent Knee.
Great sound!!!
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH- thank god this exists- I just rlly need the orchestra sheet music for the background
And them joking and talking is literally me it’s so funny to me
But also I thank this vid so much because the violin part I’m trying to figure out is so clear and I was actually right with the bowings and I’m proud
Oof sorry, violinist ova here
amazing sound!
This is amazing
Seeing these guys open for Between the Buried and Me in Philly for their Automata tour. Wanted to check out some of their music before I saw them live. Completely different contrast to BTBAM, but damn the song @ 13:41 is beautiful. I dig it.
I had seen tdh before, although I am a new fan, but (had) listened to btbam a lot, a long time ago. it was my first time seeing btbam live. this show ( saw them in Chicago) was mind blowing. hope you enjoyed tdh as well!!
This was so good holy shit
hahaa I brought up brother dynamics once while back stage with them. Their banter had me rolling so bad. I love these dudes.
Absolute genius.
Does anyone know if that's Chris Baum from Bent Knee playing the violin?
yes it is
Brilliant. I prefer this version of Things That Hide Away to the Spectrum version - strings and subtle percussion round it out nicely.
I lived in Providence, RI for 4 years. Why the fuck did I never see these guys live?!
Very reminiscent of the band, The Reign of Kindo or just Kindo these days. TDH are alright.
There are definitely similarities! TDH actually predates Kindo (and I love them, though TDH has been my favorite group for probably 12 years at this point) by just a little bit, Crescenzo started it up as a side project when he was in TREOS, and their "Act I" concept came out about a year before "The Reign of Kindo EP". If you haven't at this point (8 months later), I'd recommend checking out all of the Acts (I-V), particularly III and IV. They have the same feel that Kindo does, but they go so much farther with thematic development and just keep building on their past work. Act III is fantastic, but the progression of their sound from Acts III to IV showed just how beneficial their work on The Color Spectrum was (30+ tracks split into chunks that each had unique styles, from NIN style influences to country slide guitar).
Well that was dope.
This is love 💕
These guys need to return to Audiotree...
VIOLIN GUY FROM BENT KNEE
Tenchio because of you I checked out bent knee. I need to thank you. Best decision I ever made.
Chris Baum i guess, i been watching alot of music videos with him involved, like the Rock-Orchestra with Videogame music
@@karsaorlong5091 now I have to check out Bent Knee.
He killed shame
Nick is such a freaking good drummer.
Always loved the receiving end of sirens.... Glad casey is doing his own shit.
for some reason, Whisper gets me so pumped haha. And I'm in a post hardcore band
SimpleJustin what's the name of your band?
Allies Always Lie. Look up: Allies Always Lie - Dr. Awkward. It's the party music video haha. And the rest of our stuff is on our youtube as well.
SimpleJustin really cool instrumentals! Tbh I wish the lyrics told a more compelling and original story. It certainly doesn't have to be a concept, but I feel like heartbreak is pretty cliche
Thank you! :) It's actually not about a heartbreak hahaha. It's about your ego trying to take over you. But I really appreciate the feedback :)
The host was totally awkward, it was weird for me. But the music, sheesus! Love these guys!
This 100% sounds like Coheed & Cambria, Three, and Manchester Orchestra had a baby.
greath!
if you like TDH strings-rock mixing style, have a look to LAZULI - Festin ultime - strings version
THAT PBASS TONE 🥰
WAIT A MINUTE. Is that violinist on the right the same guy from the band Bent Knee??
Noah McCoy man a bent knee dear hunter Colab would be amazing.
damn. this guy is really good. sad i hadn't heard of him sooner. bits and pieces remind me a little of Coheed & Cambria and older Jimmy Eat World. (sorry. i know comparisons can trigger some people).
Hi, apologies, I am not a native English speaker. What is meant by 'trigger' ?
"Trigger" is commonly used as an informal verb to reference getting angered or annoyed at something someone says.
I see. I did find "A trigger is something that sets off a flashback, transporting the person back to the traumatic event." on Google, and so I was confused. "Colloquialisms" are strange. It seems as if twisting the word.
Check out the receiving end of sirens . his first band
I can definitely hear the similarities to Coheed in particular, but really only in certain variations of, maybe, a dozen or so songs. TDH, and Casey Crescenzo, are purely original.
Oh my god whisper sounded just like the fuckin' studio version it's so good
Damn.
Holy fucking shit this guy can sing.
come to canada
That's the violinist from Bent Knee!
the guitarist with the dark blonde hair is no longer in the band correct? i didn't see him at their past show in Chicago and he doesn't seem to be in their newer band photos.
If you guys ever come to Portugal I can assure you next time you will have a boy fan story to tell
the receiving end of sirens
Bo Burnham on Violin II!
I miss this host/interviewer
Hey, can you put this on spotify?
Jovem Nerd
the talco hunter
It’s good but I can’t hear the bass at all; is it plugged in?
18:00 I so wish Casey had said, "yeah, this interview."
Give it up for Bo Burnam on Violin!
Da voice of John Legend
I would love to know the name of the songs
First I heard them, I thought "sounds like BTBAM without scream vocals", and then it's so happened that they recorded a split /o_0\
Whisper sounds so weird on the key they played it on
My son and I and his friends saw you in Grand Rapids years ago. The same night Taylor who? Was playing. Hot as Hell it was. We saw you outside and my son said go say hello to you. Just couldn't. Because it was going to be a long night for you.
Love the Dear Hunter but Girl sounds so underwhelming without the female backup vocals
2013 was rad.
there I go crying again
I'm also sad that strings are always in the peanut gallery
performance was impeccable. that host was cringe as hell though.
Wait a band of 4 friends. Is the bassist not a friend or something??
I think he was referring to the string quartet.
that or like nick (drummer) and casey are brothers... so like 4 friends and a brother? idk...
oh man people talking about the string section!
