It left you hanging on the end because this isn't a random track on a music album; it's part of a story. Every song on this album is a - continuous - page (song) of a chapter (album, 4th in this case) within a story (the combined albums yet released), and they all flow over into each other; even from album to album.

DEFINITELY listen to all five Acts albums! The story is really well written, and the musical motifs and callbacks that show up across the entire discography really make the whole thing special.

OMG!!! Finally a bigger reaction channel covering TDH. THis song is one of the best on Act4, but overall this album is flawless, just like Act 1, 2, and 3.

Weirdly, while looking for new music on Spotify this morning (from looking through bands similar to Bent Knee, if you're interested!), I 'discovered' the Dear Hunter and it was love at first listen - and now, moments later I find Geebz reacted to one of their songs yesterday! It's a sign!

This was such an amazing surprise! The Dear Hunter is one of my all time favorite bands. Casey Crescenzo also composed a symphony if you'd be interested in looking at that. I believe he was composing it around the same time as Act V, which really shows in how those songs were written.
Every once in a while, I scour RUclips for any reactions to my favorite bands, and they're few and far between. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

So I'll be honest I haven't been keeping up with your channels much lately, but The Dear Hunter is maybe my favorite band of all time, and this is the song I would've picked so I shit a brick when I saw this pop up because I love the way you break stuff down!
Love love LOVE The Dear Hunter! Most of their albums are concept albums about an unnamed boy (fans call him Hunter) set in and around the early 1900's/World War 1, so there's a lot of 20's jazz influence. Other recommendations of theirs: The Lake & The River, A Night on the Town, or Gloria. First 2 are longer proggier songs, last one has a more standard song structure.
Man, this track sure has a lot going on! The influences really show, and jump back and forth in such a great way. The song writing is astounding. I really love this; awesome work all around!
It's so fun to hear that Pink Floyd come through with bands i've never heard of, what a great shout.

I used to think the first half of the guitar solo was an electric violin (listen from @8:38), and that the guitar only came in at 9:04. Such a unique way of playing!

Oh my God, Geebz... I've mentioned The Dear Hunter a few times in your comments but never thought you'd check them out! Casey Cresenzo is an incredible vocalist and a BRILLIANT composer. Acts 1-5 are all great albums that show the progression of the band, his vision and the dear hunter's story. Then there's the Color Spectrum, a collection of 9 separate 4-track EPs that each represent a color through the music. It's a masterpiece. Their latest release, Antemai, is out of this fucking world. I'm so glad you've discovered Casey and The Dear Hunter. Listen to all of it man, you'll love it.

It blows me away the amount of repeating motifs, reprises, and callbacks that flow through The Acts. Let alone that there are so so so many catchy songs, across many different styles. Casey deserves all the recognition in the world for what he has put into it with his entire discography. Can listen to it all on shuffle for months on end and never get tired of it. His writing is so meaningful and mature as you said, and reaches to anyone who has the soul to hear it.

YES YES YES YES! I've been waiting since day one for you to encounter The Dear Hunter. Casey, the singer, is an absolute genius and really everything you hear is, in a large part, written and composed by him. That whole album is one of the most beautifully crafted pieces of music ever made, imo.

Started listening to TDH a while ago. Started with chronologically with Act 1 though and Im currently stuck with Act 3, which is blowing me away over and over again :D Cant wait for act 4 and the newer albums they made.

if there's ever been a band deserving of a deep dive, it's this one
So i've seen TDH 4 or 5 times live and they are fully capable of properly reproducing these songs! My gf plays pricipal flute in the symphony and at one of their headlining shows she proclaimed about halfway through that it was the best live vocal performance she had ever seen. They truly are just as good as you think they are, there is no trick in the production.

Been listening to these guys for a few years now and it wasn’t until recently that I got the Coheed vibe. I grew up on Coheed but to me Dear Hunter is on a higher level than Coheed for sure. Dear Hunter’s show with the live orchestra was amazing.

A little late here-- but the guitar tone and solo kinda remind me of Brian May's tone and solo on Killer Queen.
I'm not gonna mince my words : The Dear Hunter has no equal among today's rock bands in terms of writing and arrangements. Forget Coheed and Cambria, forget Muse, forget Tame Impala and forget all the rest. And I'm not even joking. This band's body of work is just mind blowing. If you dive into it now, you'll have months of exploration ahead of you. The lack of recognition surrounding them is the collective sin of all music lovers right as we speak. FYI, their leader's name is Casey Crescenzo and he wrote a whole album of orchestral music called "Amour & Attrition".
I have so much respect for you mate and I always come on in hope that you check out TDH. I was hoping for another song but I hope you dive into the story and all ACTS albums they are incredible. Keep killing it mate. From Australia
So glad to see you cover TDH! For me, my first experience of them was when they opened for BTBAM in early 2018. One of those rare instances when a live band hooks you instantly without having heard their music before. Strangely enough, this is the exact song that hooked me, when the guitar gets spooky and spooky and he sings "I left my soul exposed."
