Can I also say THE AESTHETICS ARE ON POINT It isn't purely the 60's Batman It's an evergreen version that is amazing The Batman design is the classic Gray and Blue that is still being used by posters and advertisements The Batmobile has the red trim and Bat Battering Ram Head of the 40's and the curves, boosters, and fins of the 89 Mobile All of the tech and designs are timeless and so comic booky Not to mention giving the credit to past designs and ideas It is the first onscreen appearance of the 1939 Batsuit as well as the return to the 40's - 50's pre yellow oval suit Love this show
What’s also fun about the show aesthetically, is how certain episodes would incorporate slightly different artistic sensibilities, depending on the character being featured. An episode featuring Kamandi would look more Kirby-esque, while an episode featuring captain marvel might lean a bit more into the traditional golden age “Super-Man” style.
Don't forget the Batman's Strangest Cases episode where the art style ranges from Wally Wood-era Mad magazine (RIP) to vintage Japanese anime and 70's-era Hanna Barbera
This show is a true gem. Not only shining the spotlight on DC’s most obscure but basically going “hey! We know how campy the silver age is, just roll with it and have fun!” It’s a perfect blend of modern and retro. The aesthetics of the classics and the animation of modern day. All tied up with such a genuine love for DC. Not just DC actually but old school cartoons and comics in general.
Chill of the Night blew my mind when I first say it as a kid. Getting Conroy and Hamill back was awesome. But the voices that stood out to me most was that Adam West and Julie Newmar (1966 Batman and Catwoman) were playing Thomas and Martha Wayne. This was also the first episode where they showed Bruce's face. Every other time it was obscured somehow.
I would like to say that the episode where Batman and Red Tornado fight Evil Santa also has a subplot where Batman feels bad about being a jerk to his parents on the night they were killed because he didn't get the toy he wanted.
Thank you for giving this the Credit it deserves. The Musical Scene with music Meister was one of my favorite. This Show is one of the main reasons why I love the caped crusader
My Top 10 favourite Brave and the Bold Episodes: 10. Legends of the Dark Mite! 9. The Super-Batman of Planet X! 8. The Siege of Starro! (Parts 1&2) (Tie) 7. Night of the Batmen! 6. The Mask of Matches Malone! 5. Battle of the Superheroes! 4. The Knights of Tomorrow 3. Deep Cover for Batman! & Game Over for Owlman! (Tie) 2. Mayhem of the Music Meister! 1. Chill of the Night!
This show got a lot of flack for not being the DCAU, but wasn't trying to be and didn't need to be. The Brave And The Bold was love letter to the Silver Age, and I love it.
I love how “Chill of the night” is the first time we get to properly see Bruce Wayne’s face in the series. Every time before it it’s either a kid version of Bruce or he’s hidden in the shadows. So just like chill, we are being introduced to this fully grown version of Bruce Wayne.
I'd even say though that canonically Bruce secretly enjoys being the creepy kid who likes the dark...and knowing some boy in Kansas with lasers for eyeballs.
I wished they continued season 3 to 26 episdoes or renewed for season 4 due wanted to see more the justice league International member and the big three/the trinity( Batman teaming up again with Superman and Wonder-woman) especially the fate of equinox when we found out that he still has separated components in S03E06 Time Out for Vengeance leaving his fate unknown.
I love how in Chill of the Night the blue in Batman's suit is so much darker. Also I loved the Music Meister episode, I still listen to those songs 10+ years later.
This show is great because you don’t have to know too much about Batman or dc to enjoy the show, knowing just adds to the experience. The other thing I liked was it didn’t try to stay only with justice league members it branches so far you start to think they are making characters up. Making it less of a Batman show and more of a DC show. Also the side heroes aren’t half baked or bad. They take the core of them and show you that to tell a unique story.
My favorite iteration of Batman. This show also heavily influenced my love for Aquaman and Booster Gold. I also greatly appreciate the appearance of Haunted Tank, as short and different as it was.
I grew up on this show, so seeing this again is really nostalgic! I remember buying the dvds and watching them every evening after school and on the weekends!
Absolutely LOVED Batman the Brave and the Bold. One of my favorite Batman animated shows. Chill of the Night was my favorite episode 3:46 . Thanks for highlighting a great show!
This is definitely an homage to the comics of the 1950s and early 60s. Most of the Batman characters seem to be modeled off of Dick Sprangs work in the 1950s which I’ve always been a fan of.
As great as the serious episodes of the show are, I love that it’s not afraid to be lighthearted and fun. I wish more Batman takes were willing to do this
I don't get to tell anyone how great a cartoon this series is! ... Being in my 50's. Story-lines, beautiful artwork, characters I was not familiar with being a Marvel fan most of my life. The best cartoon series I've ever enjoyed. Wish they'd make more episodes!
While other Dc shows have portrayed Batman as a brooding, overly serious jerk, this Batman has been portrayed as a symbol of every heroic moral and ideal you can think of.
The Birds of Prey musical from "The Mask of Matches Malone!" remains an absolute bop to this day. I can just envision the voice actors playing Black Canary, Huntress, and Catwoman just laughing their asses off every other take due to all of the subtle innuendos that become less subtle as you grow older.
Fun fact for the chill of the night episode they brought Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy for his c"onsciousnes" on board. And Adam West and the original Catwoman actress for his parents.
As a Kid I really didn't like it. I think this is because I just grew up with the earlier DCAU and didn't understand what Brave and Bold was doing. Now, after growing up and having a better understanding of the character, I really apprecaite the show a lot more.
What I also enjoy about it is how Diedrich Bader's Batman voice has some nice differences in the tone depending on who he is interacting with. One of my favorite examples to use is the episode from season 1 where he teamed up with Omac. Whenever Batman talks to Buddy, you get a bit more of a softer tone to show he has sympathy towards him due to Buddy wanting to be a hero like Bats. Once Batman finds out about Buddy essentially being experimented on to become Omac, a soldier created to fight by using the power of brother eye, yet at the same time, lacks Buddy's heart, Batman becomes understandably mad, and uses a tone of voice that shows he's not fond of Omac at all.
So there was a comment on a clip of this video that said: I wish that when the guy ran out and told all the villains, the joker shot him and said "NO SPOILERS!"
Something that is easily forgotten is just how different thie version of batman was from what we had running around at the time this was made during the heights of the batman is an overly serious grim brooding Batman era that was kicked off my Frank Miller and here we have a Batman who was every bit the serious hero but had a sense of humor he had friends he trusted he was in his own way actually healing and becoming more human again
Personally I love the very first episode and all of them until like some of them started to get a little bit stupid. But my all-time favorite will always be Equinox as the villain. I'm surprised you didn't talk about him.
This was the only batman show I really got into, and it was because of the humor. Batman isn't batman without at least one or two puns. He's a man in a bat costume for goodness sake, why are all of you trying to make him so serious
The Brave and the Bold has always been a great comic book as well. I don't know about modern comics because ever since woke idealists hijacked DC I stopped reading but I do have a few old issues of BatB with Batman, Penguin, Hawk n Dove, Black Canary, Catman etc.
"THE HAMMER OF JUSTICE IS UNISEX!"
Can I also say
THE AESTHETICS ARE ON POINT

Not to mention giving the credit to past designs and ideas

You know I was thinking it was the first time they’d shown Bruce, but I wasn’t completely sure.
I would like to say that the episode where Batman and Red Tornado fight Evil Santa also has a subplot where Batman feels bad about being a jerk to his parents on the night they were killed because he didn't get the toy he wanted.

Just trying to put respect on a great shows name :)

Ha! I found someone who likes the Music Meister episode as much as me
I think we all understand why your number 6 is as revered as it is. Let's just say it's an absolute BoP.
The muuuuussssiiic miester
This show got a lot of flack for not being the DCAU, but wasn't trying to be and didn't need to be. The Brave And The Bold was love letter to the Silver Age, and I love it.
This was the show that made me interested in Batman and the rest of DC in the first place as a kid.
It wasn’t my first love for DC as a kid, but it certainly helped solidified it and introduced me to some of my favorite characters!
This finished just show! I forgot how good it was! It got me back to DC
It’s part of the reason I got into DC in the first place!
And that final scene where Batman says goodbye is devastating
I wished they continued season 3 to 26 episdoes or renewed for season 4 due wanted to see more the justice league International member and the big three/the trinity( Batman teaming up again with Superman and Wonder-woman) especially the fate of equinox when we found out that he still has separated components in S03E06 Time Out for Vengeance leaving his fate unknown.

I think the Brave and the Bold universe is what James Gunn needs as inspiration for his own DCU
My favorite iteration of Batman. This show also heavily influenced my love for Aquaman and Booster Gold. I also greatly appreciate the appearance of Haunted Tank, as short and different as it was.
This version of Batman is the perfect mix of the silver age and a modern take on him
I grew up on this show, so seeing this again is really nostalgic! I remember buying the dvds and watching them every evening after school and on the weekends!
Chill of the night is one of my favourite batman stories ever
Diedrich Bader is excellent as the voice of Batman. I think everyone here might know him best from 'The Drew Carey Show' and 'Napoleon Dynamite'.
Absolutely LOVED Batman the Brave and the Bold. One of my favorite Batman animated shows.
Chill of the Night was my favorite episode 3:46 .
Thanks for highlighting a great show!
I have no clue how they got away with an entire song and dance number about the sexual shortcomings of each hero in this show.
This is definitely an homage to the comics of the 1950s and early 60s. Most of the Batman characters seem to be modeled off of Dick Sprangs work in the 1950s which I’ve always been a fan of.
My favourite Batman cartoon
This show introduced me to so many characters I probably never would of heard of.
Episodes are mostly self contained but I remember two season long story archs. The Fate of Equinox and the Siege of Starro.
@Tony Ojiambo No
This show got me into the blue beetle, firestorm, red tornado, and dr fate and of course batman this show was sooooooo good
It explored the other heroes in the DC universe really well!
I loved this show. Should have gone on a little longer.
While other Dc shows have portrayed Batman as a brooding, overly serious jerk, this Batman has been portrayed as a symbol of every heroic moral and ideal you can think of.

I wouldn’t say that The villains have a relationship with Batman but they always love when he shows up to stop them especially joker
Well the villainesses do have a "Cat and Flying mouse" relationship or at least Selina and Talia think so.
This show was actually great. Different, but great. You touched on Chill of the Night, but also remember the team up with the original Red Hood?
Ok, this is one of my favourite videos on YT.
I love this show because it explore almost every corner in DC universe.
It’s truly amazing!
Got the 1st season on a whim & never looked back,my 3rd favorite animated Batman show after Batman TAS & Batman Beyond
I got CHILLS when seeing that scene with Joe Chill again in this show... Pun intended! I LOVE this show!
Fun fact for the chill of the night episode they brought Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy for his c"onsciousnes" on board. And Adam West and the original Catwoman actress for his parents.
I watched this batman while it was on Netflix and I loved it
This was pretty cool. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the other Batman cartoons (B:TAS, Beyond, Beware, etc.).
you know i grew up with this cartoon, it made me like aquaman who i never really knew exist before BATB
Damn dude, you are underrated. Subscribed and notifications turned on. This video was killer as fuck
Love the enthusiasm and I always appreciate new viewers!
I wanted to Thank You for introducing me to this Classic Series🦇I bought all 3 Seasons and watch them every week
As a Kid I really didn't like it. I think this is because I just grew up with the earlier DCAU and didn't understand what Brave and Bold was doing.

That birds of Prey song been stuck in my head for days😅
what's the first clip in the video from?
This is my favorite Batman cartoon right after Batman the Animated Series
So there was a comment on a clip of this video that said:
I wish that when the guy ran out and told all the villains, the joker shot him and said "NO SPOILERS!"
That Joe Chill episode from Batman Brave And The Bold was a real "Holy Shit" episode. Great suff.
I watched It as a kid, i remember that It was such a silly show, i didn't remember how deep It could be
Personally I love the very first episode and all of them until like some of them started to get a little bit stupid. But my all-time favorite will always be Equinox as the villain. I'm surprised you didn't talk about him.
Equinox was awesome but I honestly didn’t talk about the Holland too much in that video you’re right. Maybe I’ll return to the series one day
@@thesmortmeatballreviews6552 Sounds GREAT! And thanks again for honoring Batman the Brave and the Bold!
I love this show it’s a great love letter to classic comics and was very unique one of my favorite episodes is The Knights of Tomorrow
my favorite Batman show
It’s between this and Batman Beyond for me honestly
This was the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends of DC Animation. I loved it!!!
This remains my favorite Batman cartoon
This was always my favorite Batman show.
Brave and bold introduced dc to me when I was younger
Great video! This show was amazing! Can't believe they canceled it for that wack ass beware the Batman. It had a good run though.
Indeed it did. I’m kinda glad they ended it where they did though instead of letting it degrade over time.
@@thesmortmeatballreviews6552 Very good point, important not to overstay your welcome.

Some of us knew this Batman from our childhood!
I LOVED this show.
did u know that aron and micheal the creator of the show (i think) is actually responsible of teen titans.....go....
Well, the practical effects guys from Walking Dead worked on the Spawn movie
This was the only batman show I really got into, and it was because of the humor. Batman isn't batman without at least one or two puns. He's a man in a bat costume for goodness sake, why are all of you trying to make him so serious
Ted go BOOM!
Plus the other criminals realize that joe chill created Batman and presumably kill him anyway.
Hail equinox
I hate the Snyder verse, to me Brave and the bold is pure DC
The Brave and the Bold has always been a great comic book as well. I don't know about modern comics because ever since woke idealists hijacked DC I stopped reading but I do have a few old issues of BatB with Batman, Penguin, Hawk n Dove, Black Canary, Catman etc.
