The fact that you say most people have never even seen this show is sacrilegious. I know for some people it's the original but for me, X-Men Evolution is THE X-Men
@@thesmortmeatballreviews6552 indeed and as a huge fan of that character I was so happy this show introduce me to my favorite new addition to X-men that was Laura x-23
I honestly am shocked it’s no more popular with how good the writing is and how it gives a nice pace of starting off in school, developing characters with time and care, introducing best X girl X23, and the bonds between the characters like Kitty and Kurt being close friends, Jean Grey and Scott Summers exploring their growing love without a Wolverine being in the triangle and this version of Scott Summers is honestly respectable. Spyke and Ororo really have a sweet bond as aunt and nephew. Yet, overtime they end up going their separate ways. Another thing I love is how they showed the struggle the mutants had in finding acceptance in society, but not to the point of being hopeless. There is hope, but it’s nowhere near easy. Magneto and his group despite choosing to fight for their people, do tend to make this cycle worse for the X-Men who want a life of coexistence with humanity in PEACE. Something the comics clearly forgot and bastardized lately.
I agree although some X-Men evolution episodes were either bad or unnecessary, for example African Storm, Shadow Dance, Walk on the Wild Side, Cruise Control. Sins of the Son, and Ghost of a Chance
I really enjoyed X-Men Evolution for a period of my life and had really good moments, although I do like X-Men TAS a little more, I still would recommend this show to a friend for an introduction to the X-men lore. P.S. I always did enjoy Kitty and Kurt's brother and sister like friendship and I love how this show gave us X-23, totally pulled a Harely Quinn, and that's awesome.
@@thesmortmeatballreviews6552 No absolutely, this was a great X-Men show that explored characters in quite an interesting and unique setting. Like I said I also liked Kitty and Kurt's friendship and how characters like Cyclops, Jean, Rogue, Beast, and Wolverine etc were written, including villains like Mystique, The Brotherhood, and Magneto (most of the time). I also liked the inclusion of the New Mutants and Angel into the show as well. Fun Fact: If the show continued then we could've seen Emma Frost, The Hellfire Club, possibly the Phoenix Saga and other villains like the Sentinels and maybe Mr Sinister. Theres even concept art of what Emma Frost could've looked like on the show.
This show is great but I do have some issues with it. Early on nightcrawler finds out that raven is his mother and that's a great episode but after that it's never gets brought up again, nightcrawler and raven never really get a proper chance to speak too each other. Magneto is great,he feels always feels like a proper threat, props to Christopher judge and I like how he's built up in season 1 as this ominous figure but after that he doesn't really do a lot until we get to apocalypse,my last issue is with boliver trask and the sentinels, once again cool episode when they show up and I don't mind the ending but I wish during season 2 that they appeared earlier and we got more of a buildup of them constructing the sentinels instead of all that being shown in just 2 episodes
This deserves a revival, seriously. My only gripe was the uniforms; I wish they could have individual outfits. Nowadays, I'd love for Rogue to wear her X-Men: Legends outfit, Storm in her Marauders outfit, Wolverine in blue and yellow, Jean in her green and gold outfit (without the phoenix synbol), etc. Plus I was sad Spyke was made to replace Iceman, only for him to leave and Iceman never joined the main group.
While X-men TAS is superior, I love X-men evolution, specially storyarcs like the mutants being revealed to the world and the battle of the heroes against Apocalypse (who was made into a real threat in the series).
Yes Apocalypse was a real threat, I just wish we could’ve seen more of him as most of what he did was send his horsemen out to attack and his in his bubble.
@@thesmortmeatballreviews6552 Yeah, but I thought was a brilliant move by the writers to make Apocalypse horsemen being the mutants he killed like Xavier, Storm, Magneto and Mystique. Not only this makes him much more scary but also it fits with the theme of the series about the x-men being teenagers and their growth into heroes, with them now having to battle their former mentors.
@@alexandrefrauches132 that’s true I do like how the kids were virtually on their own besides beast, but a small part of me also wishes they didn’t bring Mystique back just because her death was so impactful,
@@thesmortmeatballreviews6552 Same, although I think what they should have done was, instead of having Mystique fighting Cyclops and Wolverine in the series finale, it should have her fighting Nightcrawler and maybe even Rogue, since both are her children. Just like Wanda and Jean were having a struggle fighting against Magneto and Xavier, Nightcralwer and Rogue could had gone through the same thing, with Rogue even blaming herself for being responsible for Mystique death and transformation into a apocalypse knight.
Yup, this video deserves more views! Evolution was a good show with a premise I didn’t like. X-men is already set in a boarding school, so de-aging them and doing the high school drama thing is a bit meh. But once I “forgave” that, the show became really effective and satisfying.
The finale of the first season was kinda weak for me. But the rest of the series was excellent. X-Men Evolution final season was the first dvd i bought
???? The show's fourth season was never released on DVD officially, only as bootlegs, and even then, usually, it's was the entire series. Still waiting for them to release it and maybe put out a series blu-ray set.

@mjskillz23 I didn't. I grew up with the 90s show instead. I was actually put off watching Evolution for a long time, but just watched the first season now. Some of the goth stuff is tedious, but it doesn't detract from the show that much. I like how Magneto was handled and how Mystique was a martial arts badass that had more agency of her own.
@@mjskillz23 in the same way, the new x men 97 should be un-watchable, because it's so reminiscent of the nineties. TAS should be buried beneath the ground and 80s' movies should be prohibited. A show being reminiscent of the time it was made, is not a bad thing at all.
