Brave and the Bold is an under rated Gem. The variety in the show, the self-aware camp; the show was also not afraid to get dark. If you take out the camp, this could so easily be a justice league show on its own. A truly terrific show !!

Omg same! It was my introduction to the DC Universe and a happy memory from my teenage years. I still remember staying at my grandmother's for the summer during Ramadan month, then we'd eat Iftar at 8:30 pm, and as soon as I finished my meal, I'd go to the living room to watch this show on CN at exactly 9 pm. My memories of it are so vivid, I can exactly remember what I thought and felt during certain episodes. (Especially the ones with Music Meister, and when Superman debuted)

There was a man from Gotham, in the Batmobile he rode,
Defending the defenseless, it's to him I sing this ode.
With his Hammers of Justice, he struck down every foe,
Safety for our families, it's this to him we owe.
Grey and blue, grey and blue,
The man from Gotham wore the grey and blue.
He fought the vilest villains, too numerous to list,
Rendering his verdict with bat-wing covered fists.
Descending from the night sky, his scalloped cape would flow,
Those who broke the law deserve the punches he would throw.
Grey and blue, grey and blue,
The man from Gotham, wore the grey and blue.
But beneath the mask was just a man, same as you and me,
His true face he could never share, a secret identity.
But why endure this lone crusade, fight a fight you just can't win?
If asked the Bat would tell you; "Someone's gotta stand up to all this sin..."
Grey and blue, grey and blue!
The man from Gotham wore the grey and blue!
Grey and blue, grey and blue!
The man from Gotham wore the grey and blue!
The man from Gotham wore the grey and blue!

Batman: The Brave and the Bold was an absolute godsend after 'The Batman' which wasn't bad but just couldn't shake off it's emptiness in comparison to Batman TAS. It also has what I deem to be one of the greatest finales of all time. It's so gripping, so hilarious yet it ends with an absolute punch to the feels.

The fact that it is so easy to watch just any episode randomly also help rewatching.

I love Brave and the Bold, it's my third favourited DC show next to the Justice League animated series and Young Justice. My favourite episodes are, Journey to the Center of the Bat, "Legends of the Dark Mite!", Mayhem of the Music Meister, Death Race to Oblivion, The Golden Age of Justice, Sidekicks Assemble, The Power of Shazam, Chill of the Night, Requiem for a Scarlet Speedster, The Knights of Tomorrow, Scorn of the Star Sapphire, Battle of the Superheroes and Triumvirate of Terror.
Also Mitefall was one of the best endings to a TV show I have ever seen, also it has probably my favourite teaser in the whole, Batman teams up with Abe Lincoln to defeat a steampunk armoured John Wilkes Booth. What a great tribute to the silver age.

Honestly my favorite part about this show was the fact that it showed off so many different DC characters so you really got to learn about more heroes besides the Justice League. They literally had an episode about a dude called Bawana Beast if I am getting his name correct, what other DC property would you find this dude in besides Brave and the Bold? It could also do both comedy and drama which is always a plus. From cheesy one liners to sad character deaths and Batman almost killing the mugger who killed his parents and both work perfectly. I also loved Equinox as well and loved how he was a secondary antagonist only showing up in the openings before the main feature until he finally got a whole episode to himself so it could do overarching plots and I liked seeing Red Hood in that alternate universe episode because I like the concept of a good guy Joker.

TatB is kind of great. It's a genuinely fun love letter to everything Batman, while also spotlighting some of the more obscure and weirder corners of the DCU.

This is my favorite take on Batman. I never connected with him as a character but this show was the first time I saw him vulnerable, saw him be friendly, saw him sad, saw him rageful, saw him sing, saw him kick ass and save the day every single time alongside some of the greatest heroes in the DC Universe. I just liked Batman not being the guy that beats up guys half to death in alleys, I like him being hopeful, being a hero. Some people would say that this makes him too much like Superman. I say... Good. 🤣

I am finishing this show with a friend we are on season 3. Initially we started to watch it as a joke cause of how good the intro song is but then we just kept watching it. I faintly remember it as a kid and since my friend is a big DC fan it helped me get to know some of the characters he mentions. Actually such a good show to get your kid into DC comics though. Some episodes are dull but when you get a good episodes it is fantastic. After this I am gonna watch Justice League

This one has countless moments that are more encapsulates the best things in comics, and the animated shows that are the most inspired by them.
That Booster and Beetle moment, and episode was just perfect. There is plenty of silly stuff, yet then they also mix it up just as the best of DC comics has done.

Yes BTAS is amazing, but Batman doesn’t have to be brooding and serious all the time. Batman can have fun too, recognize the value of friendship and teamwork while still being a great Batman. Every afternoon when I came home from middle school, I turned on the tv for this show and I still love it to this day.

6:19 What makes that moment so powerful is that one review of the BatB once said it had Batman unburdened with a secret identity... Instead, we get in that one episode the darkest Batman can be without corpses falling left and right.

One of the funnier( probably not) coincidences is that the series ends on a fake teaser for a batgirl show and a big point is made about it being 3d animated.
And then beware the batman came out like 6 months later

One thing I noticed after reading a few dc comics and watching the show was how accurate it gets things. Like when it introduces batgirl in the intro bit she fights killer moth, just like in batgirl year one. And the Guy Gardener episode where Batman knocks him out with one punch. That happened in JLI, Guy turns into a completely different person because Batman got fed up and punched him.

As a little kid in the early 00s, I felt like I was the only person in the entire world who really got Batman? Like the gritty super edgy batman was just becoming super popular but I just wasn't on board, I felt (and still feel tbh) that stripping the series of it's more lighthearted or even goofy moments stripped the characters of something special, leaving us with only the dark parts left the characters feeling one-note/one dimensional.
Shows like Batman 2004 and TBATB rocked my socks when I was little and they still do now.
(And BTAS of course, but everyone knows about that one. ps; go watch mask of the phantasm)

    • @thenoirknight5729

I agree. Just because a character or setting is super serious doesn't mean goofy or zaney things don't exist in that world. Take Condiment King in B:TAS for example (sadly he was short lived)

When I first saw commercials for it, I thought it looked childish, but that's good to hear it's a good cartoon that has a good balance of dark themes/silly fun. Diedrich Bader also sounds really good as Batman based on the clips you used and I like that they used the 70's costume for Batman since that's my favorite color palette. I'll have to check it out sometime.
Edit: I have seen the entire series and it is so good at balancing dark storytelling with humor, I love the callbacks to BTAS, and how it built the world of all these heroes and villains from the Silver Age. It is an OUTRAGEOUSLY good time to where I wish Season 3 had 26 instead of 13 episodes.
