hey ! thank you !!,,,,,,my brother brought me in this old 3 in 1 craftsman mower ,,like antique ,,,,,the throttle set up is the same as what your showing here !! thank you very much !
I'm glad you made a video showing how that throttle plate hooks up, because I got this Craftsman Blower/Vac Chipper and for whatever reason the previous owner removed the throttle plate, most likely because he put a new carb on. Luckily I have a few spare throttle plates. However on this machine it also had the kill switch on the throttle plate, I also have a spare kill wire tab to hook on it, but the guy wired in his own messy kill switch and one of the wires is not hooked up still so I have to try and figure out exactly where all the wires went. I know the green ground came from the coil and went to the throttle plate and I have a feeling this other black wire coming from the back of the machine that is disconnected also goes right to the throttle plate where the green ground goes or somewhere near it. Something like that. This guy really had it all boogered up, I wonder why he didn't just put the throttle plate back on when he replaced the carb, maybe it broke like the one you had and he did not have a spare, so he went to town re-wiring everything. Parts direct is great, because you can get most Sears machines manuals, however this particular machine has no manual for it on their website. Anyway this video was very helpful, thank you.

I have the springs and parts on correctly on mine but i am having trouble with the mower actually changing its idle speed when I flip the switch. I have tried the adjustment screws although I just cant seem to get it to work? Any tips? - Thanks
Bruce Pender I can move the governor lever and it increases the idle by moving the throttle on the top of the carb but the high and low idle lever doesn’t seem to be able to let that governer lever move the throttle on its own when the lever is moved.
You just find the setting for maximum RPM and lock that throttle in that position. You may have to improvise the holding item Bending a lever or whatever. Just makes sure it solid on max RPm.
Hey Bruce, great video. What I would like to know is, where can I get a tecumseh gas feed on the carburetor like the one in this video. Hey Bruce, your video got me back in business, but I’m not sure my linkage is in the right hole on the throttle lever, any advice here, my engine now runs but only at full throttle?

I am working with similar motor. How do I order or find locally the linkage from carb throttle to governor? Either engine didn't have it when I started messing with it or I lost it? I don't see how it would run without it?? I bought this from a relative that had not used it for several years so when it did not run very well I ordered a replacement carbeurator and now I see there must be a linkage missing. If it is backfiring I would check the valve tappet clearance. If the intake valve if open at all will cause a fire back to the carb. I am not an expert but that is the next thing I would check.
Hey Bruce. I've got an issue with the governor on a Tecumseh H25. I don't think it's in the case at all. I did the adjustment (loosen screw, throttle full, snug back up) and it still wants to pull past 3500 rpm's. I know, old video , but my neighbour just asked me to look at his. My research shows governor spring attaches to the governor lever and the rod goes into the moveable speed lever.
Bruce, my governor is always pulled to the rear of the engine even with the top bracket pushed forward as much as I can. So what should I try to do to resolve that problem? Thank you!
There is some adjustment to that lever. Usually all the way to the left or right with no tension . Loosen the screw around the shaft the little post only moves about a 1/4 turn. Lots of youtube help there. This video is of a Briggs but similar ruclips.net/video/q5kB_s6MK6Q/видео.html
I have a 16 year old Toro Tecumseh engine self-propelled lawn mower. I think I messed a spring up or something. I replaced the carburetor and flushed out all the trash in my gas tank and got new no-ethanol gas. Still getting spark but dies immediately.
When the governor springs are in right you should be able to feel tension on the throttle butterfly actuator. That is the one with the holes in it for the throttle rods. If it runs for a few seconds I would think it needs more fuel Have you sprayed starter fluid into the carb opening??? That should give it a shot. Also I have seen the gasket on the intake partially close off going into the motor too----- if on crooked. Fiddle with it. If it is sputtering you are close.

Not when set properly. The governor hold the throttle back to about 3200 RPM's if there is no manual throttle. Maximum RPM will blow up the engine in less than a minute.
Got one from 86 self propelled Craftmans for some reason after I clean the carb and put it back on Runs full throttle and the red part don't do anything I mean like Full rev lol I don't need to change speed I just want to turn RPM down a little suggest
Ok Your problem is the governor set up. sometimes the little hooks on the rods can catch or you have the 2 different rods transposed and they need to be redone. The one with the spring goes on the lower hole and the solid one goes on the upper hole of the governor arm coming out of the engine. The solid one goes to the throttle on the carb. Make sure the one with the spring goes to the movable throttle with the red lever. Something may be jammed. Don't hesitate to take the throttle assembly off and start over. When they work it is truly cool. Look at spot 8:11 in the video

My hi/low throttle was always set to high no matter what position. Thanks!
I hope this helps.
I haven't heard that word "cussing" since the 1990s. Memories
I am usually just having fun with old sayings like that.
Just what I needed. Thanks.
Great you made my day
Awesome job as always Bruce! Cheers my Northern Friend! Sean~
I should have done this video years ago.
Got one from 86 self propelled Craftmans for some reason after I clean the carb and put it back on
Runs full throttle and the red part don't do anything I mean like Full rev lol I don't need to change speed I just want to turn RPM down a little suggest
@@BrucesShop wow ok thx this make it way easier
Good learning video Bruce, thanks. I got my hydraulic lift table at Harbor Freight the 1000 lb. one as it better built like yours. I still need to do the platform mod like yours. I took collect all the dohickies and thingamabobs from small engines and mowers never know when you need something. Especially on an old one.
You will love it Raymond. I use mine every day no kidding.
Great video man ..well explain...
Glad you liked it!
Looks great Bruce! Son of a Nutcracker! lol
good one.
Mine has like a little chain on it and I'm guessing its for the throttle but its way different than this setup
I have not seen a chain.
Where did you get your lift? It is so cool!
Here is the link to my yellow lift. It was a gift from my wife.

@@BrucesShop thanks.
Thank you! This was a great help!
I am happy you got it.
Bruce do u know the part numbers
for the tecumseh gov spring??
Not off hand. Google is your best bet. I am sorry.
Great videos watch a lot of them I'm starting a Lil business out of my garage fixing lawn mowers an snow blowers. Name is mowers an blowers lol.just wondering were u buy all shop supplies an parts if u need them
I order my carb parts and smaller stuff on line and keep a few of each on hand. . I repair the rewinds and have a few of each in the shed. I sometimes pick stuff up at the local dealer If I don't have it. I should do a video on that.
Bruce Pender thanks
Great video Bruce, thanks!
Thanks back to you for watching.
Nicely done.
I think we have all had a go t this one. I was a few years late. I liked the older throttle linkage on this one.
I spect if ya just got to curse you could give us a "Golly gosh darn it" and we wouldn't mind at all. Great video as usual.
We actual I am bilingual English and profanity.
Hi Bruce, love your videos, have a mower starts than dies clean carb three times still won't stay running, cleaned little holes in screw on bottom. You make it seem so easy but this one is tough. Been selling trash mowers and fixing them for the last six years never had one come back. This one just got it's old but just won't stay running,am I missing something.
Keep at it fuel spark. I don't know what to say.
Hi Bruce, tried another carb no dice,so decided to put old one back on and sell it for parts, but after I put it on it started right up and ran like a champ. Can't figure that out.
Maybe an intake issue the cleared up during assembly.
Thanks Bruce for the input.Still love your videos have the same table but drifts down after awhile,so I put the stay bar down then slide a 3/4x6 board in there and it won't go down.
Yes I just pump mine back up
It sounds like water dripping or something in the background, I don't know what it is
Could be.
Awesome!!! I learned something new
Good for you Shawn
Yeah
Bruce Pender I always learn from your videos.
Nice job sir.
Thanks Davey
love as u speed up amd talked still very cool
Thanks Brandon

Thank you so much
You are welcome.

I am happy you enjoyed it.
Thank you!
You are welcome.
nice job.
Thanks so much Josh
Good fix!
Thanks Mr. Shade
Love it a bag of doohickeys. I do the same LOL
A sorted bag of different dohickeys.
Never toss any useful parts for small engines , I do the same.
I try to keep as much stuff as i can without making a "big mess"
i hust 4got they way it was all rigged up while waiting for my new carbie to get to Australia from the UK
Got it. Good luck
Lol and i end up back on your viz im working in a snowblower now and i thinks its the governor.
If the engine runs it is a lot of the time a governor issue..
@@BrucesShop nope mr 50+ years it was the carb and runs great now.
4:18, I hate it when there's extra parts!! 😆
LOL
I was going to suggest if you get to where you are cussing ..It's time to take a break and have a cold drink....But that 24 pack of Coor's Light may be too extreme
I had a couple tonight. This is our long weekend Queen Victoria's birthday (from way back) I think it coincides with your Memorial Day but a week earlier.
Need to be more clear on placement of linkage. Video unclear (at best) on which holes to connect linkage too.
Is this a rub.... respectfully yes it is.
Marginally helpful.
OK
Too dark
Cannot see !!! Where is ur lite
How about 9:15. Remember you aren't watching Steven Spielberg. I see you have never made an instructional video but f you do i will watch and comment positively.
theres a easier way 2 remove
There always is.
i find it better just to pull the intake manifold off . then strip down the throttle assembly and carburetor
Ever heard of a ratchet cheif?
No I haven't.
