I've been going to Skegness since the early Nineteen eighties and when i read people claim it's the worst seaside resort town it makes me mad 😠. It has never once deserved that odious accolade...it's absolutely wonderful.
True that! Thus the reason we made this video because we actually really enjoyed the vibe of Skegness, the beach was beautiful and people were super nice! Such a charming place that deserves 100% way better reputation 👀❤️
Saw you on By The Curb. Thanks to you and your lovely girlfriend for treating Skegness in a respectful way. I have been there myself and enjoyed it. We need people like you to promote the UK and its resorts in a more positive light. Good on you.
Thanks for coming! We absolutely loved that day and had so much fun and plenty of positive interactions - at the end it's not only about the place itself but also people who create a nice atmosphere :) Our plan is to travel through the UK this summer and document our thoughts so hope you'll enjoy the upcoming vlogs too! 🥳
Skegness, Margate, Leysdown etc are all similar.. they're designed primarily for kids of all ages. There's something just magical seeing these places with arcades all lit up at night, with the smell of hot dogs, doughnuts, candy floss wafting around.. its not for everyone but kids don't judge things like cleanliness, food quality, etc.. As much as I love a nice foreign holiday in the sun, with a spotlessly clean pool, there's still something special about going somewhere like Skeggy with everything a kid could ever want!!
It’s funny you saying that because we could exactly feel the same way! There’s also charm to them old-style shops or typical restaurants so it brought up lots of memories for me! We felt a little taken back in time but we really enjoyed it in Skegness or rather Skeg Vegas 😬⚡️
Been going to Skegness for more than 60 yrs and seen the changes. Went with my parents as a child, when l got married, had children and now with grandchildren. It gets bigger and better 👍 the amount of people that go can't all be wrong otherwise they wouldn't keep going back. So much to do.around and about 😊😊
Where but the UK would you have a statue to a famous railway travel poster? John Hassall created ‘The Jolly fisherman’ in 1908 for the Great Northern Railway to promote Skeggy. It shows a fisherman skipping along the beach, with the slogan "Skegness is so bracing". The other thing you need at Skeg is binoculars - the best way to see where the sea is at low tide. Used to be described as Sheffield or Nottingham by the sea, as it was the main seaside destination from both cities.
Popped over from 'bythecurb' but aren't you (also) GigHustle?? Loved watching the food deliveries and wondered where you'd gone - assuming it is you lol! 😊😊
No way! Yes I’m Gig Hustle! Sounds weird to say that actually 😂 We’re filming in the UK for the next few months and then off to China, South Korea and Japan! I’m happy that you took the time to comment - thank you 🙏
You can easily get a week out of skegness! Sea life, golfs, seal sanctuary, shops, pool, paddling pool, arcades, fair, beach, playzones, parks, fantasy isalnd theme park just down the road, amusements in Ingoldmells a short bus away, markets! It's great
I think you bought a new camera for filming? Your vlogs are (even!) nicer now - as always high quality & so engaging! 😍 Thanks guys for Skegness part, looking forward to more UK content 🇬🇧
Yes! Thank you! We actually love the quality of the recordings so much but it takes a bit of time to get used to this new way of filming 😜 More videos coming your way from the UK series this summer - we planned to visit also Scotland and Wales so it should be interesting for you to watch them vids 🏴🏴🏴

We had the same issue regarding filming whilst over in Blackpool a couple of years ago. Unless it's because children are sometimes found in the arcades, then I can't really understand why filming is banned from most of these places 🤔
From the previous comments we understood that the machines are kind of designed in a way that you'll never fully win and they don't want to expose it but I guess we know it anyways 😂 But probably they would have found any other reasons to stop you anyways haha
@JayeshChhaya it's annoying, as we had set up an old-fashioned kind-of gaming channel, visiting arcades and recording us playing the games. But that changed after we were told to stop filming 😅 To be honest, it probably helped us as we took a different direction and started the channel we have now.
True that! We were surprised how everything was well-maintained :) It's visible they try to make it appealing for the people coming in the summertime! And it's nice to experience how they "preserve" the solutions from the past!

Hey guys, not sure but I seem to remember many many years ago a friend told me you were not aloud to film in arcade because some people were showing others how to cheat on certain machines but most likely just be because casino/gabling rules
Could be that! We also thought that actually there was a similar atmosphere like in the casinos so maybe that could be the reason why filming could have been banned 🤔
That is awesome! By the curb is my number 1 youtuber. James is amazing and down to earth guy wears his heart on his sleeve. I went to Skeggy at around 10. Just one thing I want to mention because folk don't understand this. You said about the water looking murky etc yeh? I lived in Blackpool most of my life it's same there. BUT!!! The water is actually very clear!!!!! It just looks like that because of the Sand colour it churns up and makes it looks dirty. @@JayandKarolina ingoldmells & Chapel are the next seaside towns along from Skegness they would be good for u go check out if u havnt been before 🤩 new subscriber to your channel I found u because I also follow by the curb🤩
You are not wrong. There must be all of one tree amongst all the derelict buildings. Stanley park is beautiful but it would be nice if the greenery was spread out to the town. They manage it in Lytham St.Annes up the road. They don't even take care of the Winter Gardens so where is all the money that the tourists bring in?
We absolutely loved both the fish&chips and the tea! While seated, a lot of people came into that shop for take-away orders so it must be a popular spot among locals 🐠
It used to be great till greed took over and quality was replaced by trashiness. There was a gorgeous model village once, a long pier with theatre at the end, a nineteen twenties huge swimming pool with grass surrounding it, the boating lake was better prior to its demise, you could get jugs of tea under the pier, the waterway was so good, there were two theatres quite grand, ditto a cinema, two free paddling pools one of which was saved due to outrage at it being proposed to be taken by the greedy developers, check ot The Fairy Dell. As for the rest of it they paved paradise and put up a loud, garish mess.
The chips were ONCE edible and freshly chipped and the fish top notch, all to be found on chip alley. I hate the sickly smell of stale cooking oil! Locals would opt for the ones done in beef dripping. The rock always came with a picture of skeggy inside the pack.I liked the aniseed or pink mint. I do not rate the modern changes. I love those shops selling buckets and spades, blow up beach balls and boats for the bath as a grown up. My son loves candy floss, for me warm donuts. At the fair which was Bottons was a stand selling little dishes of fresh seafood, lush with a dash of vinegar. and the tunnel of love was handy for a cheeky snog!
It really is! We were very surprised how much we liked our day out there! It’s literally perfect for a day to have some fun and delicious fish & chips + snacks 🐠😍🍩 Also people were so welcoming and friendly! Honestly we enjoyed it to the point that coming back in the feature will be a pleasure!
@@JayandKarolina hi yes its lovely for food, i love arcades and fair and everything about it, lots of variety and plenty of fun skeg is goldmine 82 million investment proves it has a decent future.kind regards.
People always attacking Skegness. I went last year & had a great time, a lot to do & it feels like when I used to go with my Grandma & Grandad as a kid. Obviously, it's changed a bit but it does not deserve the constant attacks. It's like people look for anything today to bring something down just for content views.
Yep we agree! Although we did lead with this title - the content I believe does Skegness justice and it's clear from our experience that it was a fun day out and our interactions with the locals shows that it's given a bad rep from the tabloids/media online...unfairly I'd say!
I am not English and when i moved to Grimsby. I went a few times with my wife inlaws etc..i have always had a good day. But to be honest, what seaside town is any different. At least there are things to do. Been to spain, Bulgaria france canaries germany and their seaside areas are no different. Bars, food and bars and bars. And if you want there is food and bars. Skegness ia the same.
@@JayandKarolina drinking laws are different and people can just sit out all day and drink. They can in the UK but how often would we see tourists hanging out at seaside towns in the UK when it's later in the evening? Bars close and it's colder.
Came from By the Curb, you guys did much better with the fish 'n chips! Maybe you should visit Hunstanton, just 15 miles across the Wash (70 miles by car!) Much smaller, more genteel, less garish and Sandringham is close by!
Thank you so much for coming! We are foodies so needed to do some more research ahead and apparently Seaview Fisheries is quite popular among locals 🐠 To be honest the shouting pirates in the Trawler’s Catch just lost us lol 😬🏴☠️ Thanks for the tips! Will definitely check them places out one day!
Really? We haven't caught on to this trend because mushy peas taste delicious on their own 😄 But dipping chips in it always tastes good! Thanks for watching!
The flags are called buntin’ or bunting 🤔 when all strung up together. A union flag is only called a Union Jack when it’s on a ship 🛳️ Otherwise it’s just a Union flag 🇬🇧 I love Skegness and Blackpool, very happy family memories there x x x
Pleasure Beach sounds so wrong 🤣🤣🤣 but I do love the arcade and a bit of the slot machines. I can hear Take That song in the background. The fish and chip portion is big as compared to the fish and chips I had while staying at the Cliveden House in May 2023 with my partner to attend friend's wedding. The portion is small and costs like 30 pounds. Very underwhelmed.
You're totally right haha, if you think about it longer it definitely sounds bad 😂 But the whole atmosphere at Skeggy is quite distinctive - a bit kitsch and a bit nostalgic - so even naming the funfair like that didn't surprise us lol Although there are plenty of fish & chips shot around I would have guessed that some of them would be average and highly overrated which is a bit disappointing.... We always try to find cool spots before filming, but they're often not in the centre of things, so not everyone wants to go off the main streets - we didn't mind, because if you want quality it's sometimes nice to pick a specific spot 👍 Maybe next time you could visit Seaview Fisheries then!
@@JayandKarolina haha true and I don't mind visiting one day if we are back to London since my partner is now back in glasgow. Oh I know if only there was other option since we stayed there and it is the only restaurant there within the property but the hotel is very nice. Will be in Glasgow later this year and if you guys are coming up north, give me a shout :)
Yes, we definitely felt like someone had taken us on a trip into the past. It has its own charm! 😜 It'll be interesting to see how resorts like this develop in a few years, as everything was really well looked after but kept the solutions from decades ago 👍
@@JayandKarolina great, I go to Skegness everyear and I have barely any complaints about it. It's definitely not the worst and people who said that are Londoners and people from the south

Hi mate i went to Skegness with my partner and my sister and her fella on Saturday just gone and I've got to say mate we love Skegness that much that we keep going there and its the far the best place to go the food is gorgeous and fantasy island is just awesome great vid guys
Yeah, most of the people coming to Skegness actually fell quite attached to the past times spent there because this coastal city really holds the same atmosphere :)
The best chips are home cooked, half boiled then drained and oven cooked with olive oil poured over them or coconut oil ..all organic of course to avoid toxic chemicals, with balsamic vinegar ..organic of course, and Himalayan salt on. The very best in taste and for your health. The best sweet treats are raw organic chocolate like Halo bars..Holland and Barrett sell them…which are sweetened with organic coconut sugar …good for your health and the best taste of real chocolate that snaps when you break a piece. The best pop is kombucha …make sure it’s authentic ..I get it in glass bottles and it has the ‘mother’ left in it …the culture ..the funny looking stuff ..can’t remember the exact name but it means it’s good for your gut. Anything in cafes etc are cooked in vegetable oils that are extremely clogging for the arteries and heart ..a health hazard.. as are all refined sugar products …especially rock. But most sauces and bread etc have refined sugar in. You’re worth it, you only have one body and one life in that body ✝️🕊️🌈😘🥰😍
We got our fresh fruit and veg from Morrisons in the organic section which is near the train station. The fruit and veg shops didn’t have organic when we were there.
We believe that if generally you're learning a healthy lifestyle - you nourish your body well, are active and try not to drink too much alcohol - you cam sometimes treat yourself to a nice meal out or a cake. It doesn't always mean that it's unhealthy but as you're saying, there's a lot of fried and sugary stuff that people are cravings for 😬😬
@@JayandKarolina yeah for the cravings I go for the best/ real stuff …same sweet taste ..just real raw ingredients so health beneficial and satisfying the sugary cravings x x x that’s what a real treat is…when it treats your body kindly and tastily too win win 😘🥰😍🌈✝️🕊️😇 x x x
You mentioned to the lady at the doughnut stall about possibly changing the name of your channel. I have thought for a while you should change it to "Jay and Karolina".
We’ve been talking about it the other day but not sure yet if we want to change the channel name or not :) Karolina likes to do the behind-the-scenes tasks but she’s becoming more confident on the camera too so will see what makes the biggest sense 🙏
It’s definitely not the worst . Lots to do in and around Skegness if you look around enough. The worst chippy traveler catch in Skegness . Blackpool is the worse
We’ve heard that actually Blackpool has gone downhill… Wanted to explore it this summer but don’t really want to promote a place which is not really worth it 😅
Thanks for the sub! Hope you’ll enjoy watching our UK series!! Yeah that’s probably the reason because at the end of the day you need to spend a bit of money to get the amount of it in the prizes 😂

We are neighbours then :) I live in Long Eaton! I used to love Skegness as a kid and I still enjoyed spending this day out there! I guess it's always nice to be back haha

@@kimmiranda5678 you are right we should of gone to the water to have a closer look. It wasn't really beach weather so that's probably why we didn't do that haha

Awesome keep it up. Enjoying your UK adventures
23:00 Nice cup of Builders Tea (very strong) and delicious looking fish, chips and mushy oeas... delish!!
Skegness is amazing, i love the place love other seaside towns as well but this place is superb.
It really is! We were very surprised how much we liked our day out there! It’s literally perfect for a day to have some fun and delicious fish & chips + snacks 🐠😍🍩
Also people were so welcoming and friendly!
@@JayandKarolina Yes, I agree you did reflect that you had a good time in the video. The MSM, the persecutors of many things that are good.
When you sat in the theatre you could see the sea between the boards under your feet .
It would have been spectacular I believe 🌊
I am not English and when i moved to Grimsby. I went a few times with my wife inlaws etc..i have always had a good day. But to be honest, what seaside town is any different. At least there are things to do. Been to spain, Bulgaria france canaries germany and their seaside areas are no different. Bars, food and bars and bars. And if you want there is food and bars. Skegness ia the same.
We had so much fun in Skegness but need to say that it's a bit different from the seaside town overseas :)
Maybe you should visit Hunstanton, just 15 miles across the Wash (70 miles by car!)
Much smaller, more genteel, less garish and Sandringham is close by!
Thank you so much for coming! We are foodies so needed to do some more research ahead and apparently Seaview Fisheries is quite popular among locals 🐠 To be honest the shouting pirates in the Trawler’s Catch just lost us lol 😬🏴☠️
Thanks for the tips! Will definitely check them places out one day!
James and Helen are amazing to watch thy sleep in the van good to meet them
They are such great people I agree :)!
Great vlog it looked good there btw it seems to be the 'IN' thing these days to put a little vinegar in the mushy peas, thanks for sharing guys.
Really? We haven't caught on to this trend because mushy peas taste delicious on their own 😄 But dipping chips in it always tastes good! Thanks for watching!
The flags are called buntin’ or bunting 🤔 when all strung up together. A union flag is only called a Union Jack when it’s on a ship 🛳️
Otherwise it’s just a Union flag 🇬🇧
I love Skegness and Blackpool, very happy family memories there x x x
Great to hear :) Thank you so much for sharing!
I love Skegness going back in August cant wait 😮
It’s my favourite video I’ve filmed in the UK so far :)
I think my dad sead there where steps down to the sand years ago..hope you're videos go well. Take care .
You're totally right haha, if you think about it longer it definitely sounds bad 😂 But the whole atmosphere at Skeggy is quite distinctive - a bit kitsch and a bit nostalgic - so even naming the funfair like that didn't surprise us lol
Although there are plenty of fish & chips shot around I would have guessed that some of them would be average and highly overrated which is a bit disappointing....
I subscribed after seeing you both on The curbs vlog.
😬 Thanks for watching! Hope you’ll enjoy our upcoming vlogs too since we’ve planned an exciting UK series for this summer 🇬🇧✨
Traditional to have a slice of bread and butter on a side plate.
Maybe when we have fish and chips in Whitby we will get this!
After all these years, these seasides cities are still not much changed 😂good ❤
Yes, we definitely felt like someone had taken us on a trip into the past. It has its own charm! 😜 It'll be interesting to see how resorts like this develop in a few years, as everything was really well looked after but kept the solutions from decades ago 👍
Skegness is not the worse, it's close to ingoldmells and has a great bus service, if you want the worse seaside go to Blackpool
Oh no, we've heard that Blackpool can be a bit harsh... We actually truly enjoyed our time in Skegness! Such a nostalgic seaside town :)
@@JayandKarolina great, I go to Skegness everyear and I have barely any complaints about it. It's definitely not the worst and people who said that are Londoners and people from the south
Skegness is still a great town and resort not been for years yet will be going for a 2nd time in august
Same! I was there last time when I was a kid but everything g is kept in a way I remember it :) Except of the fact that is well-maintained and renowned to keep that old vibe! We had so much fun so I bet you'll enjoy it for yourself too!
I’m from Leicester, skeggy was our nearest seaside growing up. I’m now in York, let me know if you’re coming up this way
We are making a video in York in July - we're also heading to Scarborough and Whitby :)
@@JayandKarolina “Scarbados”
Need any York recommendations?
@@jopollard7836 😂😂😂 We have a plan but we're always welcome to suggestions! You can send them here or better to DM us on Instagram!
@@JayandKarolina I can get you friends and family discount at the Novotel in the centre and also at some bars in the town for food and drinks. I don’t have insta but if you let me have your email I can send details
@@jopollard7836 we were thinking about staying overnight in York but the hotels were quite pricy so we were going to do a day trip! My email is hello@jayeshchhaya.com
The best chip shop in Skegness is eptons second best is salts followed by seaview 😅
Would need to try them places out next time then! Thanks for sharing :)
First time viewer will keep a look out for you in future are you going to a lot of seaside places?
Hello Tony, welcome! Yes, we have plans to visit more resorts and cities in the UK for this summer :)🇬🇧 If you have any recommendations then of course let us know!
Hi mate i went to Skegness with my partner and my sister and her fella on Saturday just gone and I've got to say mate we love Skegness that much that we keep going there and its the far the best place to go the food is gorgeous and fantasy island is just awesome great vid guys
That's awesome! I can definitely agree that it’s a place where you can come back to many times and never get bored of it 😍🥳
Skegness gets slagged off by just a few. But how many thousands turn up year in year out. Can't be that bad when all these people keep coming back
Yeah, most of the people coming to Skegness actually fell quite attached to the past times spent there because this coastal city really holds the same atmosphere :)
Iv just started watching Ur video such a GR8 couple really enjoyed Ur video I followed the other couple both off you are such great RUclipsrs
Thank you so much for the support :) It means a lot for us since it's just the first video of our UK series!
Try Blackpool, Skegness is a great place for all ages.
Ciao Jay thank you for the video 😊
Ciao Karolina you are fantastic ❤
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed this first video from our UK series :)
Thankyou for the tour of skeggy you did good.
Down by hildreds is what they call chip pan ally.
As I said on a previous Vlog, Seaview Fisheries is banging.
Glad we went there! Seems like the locals choice 👌
It’s definitely not the worst . Lots to do in and around Skegness if you look around enough. The worst chippy traveler catch in Skegness . Blackpool is the worse
We’ve heard that actually Blackpool has gone downhill… Wanted to explore it this summer but don’t really want to promote a place which is not really worth it 😅
The bigs lights are the shape of whale bones we're you ate your doughnuts, great video ❤
That makes so much sense 👀 Them lamps had such a unique design 🐋 Thanks for sharing!
New subscriber from The Curb. Love your content 👍 They don't want you videoing the legal scam they do with the machines....
Thanks for the sub! Hope you’ll enjoy watching our UK series!! Yeah that’s probably the reason because at the end of the day you need to spend a bit of money to get the amount of it in the prizes 😂
The Pleasure Beach in Blackpool is well better. Jus' sayin'.
There was a fire on the pier, highly suspect to some.
I wonder if the light poles are shaped like whale rib bones?
Oh, that's a great thought! Possibly!!!
The fish and chips were so good value
Yep! And then fish and chips were truly exceptional in terms of the taste 😋 We’re planning to visit other holiday resorts like Whitby, Scarborough and Blackpool soon will have more of the recommendations for you soon 🐠🍟
@@JayandKarolina Cannot wait l live in seaside town ,enyoyed poland videos
You are right .the windmills are only a resent thing.
Another Day, Another Vlog 🤍
♥
Husseys is the best chippy in Skegness 😊
Will have to check them out next time! It did look nice from the outside :)
We used to go to Tony's.allways enjoyed them from there.
There is so many great fish & chips places around, especially on the Grand Parade! Great recommendation for the next time I guess 😋
They make their own rock in skeggy
Yes, the ladies said that the factory is somewhere nearby! That's pretty amazing! 🍬
We found nothing wrong with Skegness
Yes we had a good time in Skegness and the video was challenging this stereotype that Skegness has!
I disagree too skeggness is my childhood it's a fantastic place, people just shouldn't judge the place 😡😡😡
It truly is a gem! We enjoyed our time out there so much :)
I disagree I’m actually going there tomorrow till next week
We've really enjoyed our time too :) Have a great one!
I’m from Nottingham my little family love Skegness vegas x
We are neighbours then :) I live in Long Eaton! I used to love Skegness as a kid and I still enjoyed spending this day out there! I guess it's always nice to be back haha
@@JayandKarolina used to come here when I was a kid with my grandparents lovely memories
i dont care what people say i love it always have always will think its people who have not been and go abroad
Skeggy definitely has its own charm 😍 You cannot really compare it to other resorts abroad because it's not only about the infrastructure but also a vibe from the past!
If you leave it a while it will go soft .
Hi seen you on by the curb video 😊
Welcome!! Thanks for watching! We’re going to film an entire UK series and I had been watching by the curb’s videos before since we’re using the same camera 😬📽️ Who would have thought that we bump into each other in Skegness!
@@JayandKarolina I'm a big fan of by the curb I've subscribed to your channel 😁
I knew you would love skeg vegas.
Rishi vibes from this kid
😄 I guess it's a compliment!
Glad it's not just me then who thinks that
Skegness has been given that label but we actually had a really fun day out! It wasn’t bad at all and I’m sure there’s way more places that are worse in the UK 😄
Try Blackpool
😄 Is it better than Skegness or worse?
Paying by card for £1.50?
Haha yes we had no cash that day on us 🤭
Trawlers catch best in skeggy
We found it a bit too loud to record to be honest... Also one of my friends @by_the_curb visited it and was disappointed with their quality 🫣
If you go to a beach town why not the showing the beach
We did at the start and at the end :)
@@JayandKarolina I mean actually going to the beach, not looking at the beach from the Promanade or walking alongside
@@kimmiranda5678 you are right we should of gone to the water to have a closer look. It wasn't really beach weather so that's probably why we didn't do that haha
Looks like town stuck in 90s
Haha a bit like that, or at least the city gives that impression which was actually cool in its own way 😄 Because as we mentioned everything was well-maintained and clean!
I love skegness x
Skegness is the best place to grow up in the UK , I loved it .....Beach then girls then the fair !
😄😄😄 Sounds like fun! But also don't forget to eat a donut - it would be a crime to leave without trying one!
northink wrong with skegness
True that :) It holds a special charm!
Something new?! Skeg really! moaning about the place! Like every other RUclips channel 🥱It’s a ok place with people making happy memories with their families.
Hi Jayne - we didn’t moan about Skegness at all quite the opposite! We had a great day out and challenged the stereotype and interviewed a few of the locals to hear what they have to say. Have a watch of the video and if you still think that we’re moaning please let us know 😅
There nice people.
Got to try and eat donuts without licking your lips lol
True that 🤪 It tastes better this way though as all the sugar stays always on the lips!
