This song is something else, a true masterpiece with its transitions and such majestic melodies. My favorite by them for sure.
one of my absolute favourite songs ever. total masterpiece
Glad you liked it!
I love dimmu's song and album titles. Like, the sacrilegious scorn, the serpentine offering, enthrone darkness triumphant, spiritual black dimensions, kings of the carnival creation, its like poetry to me. Poetry that goes along great with the epic music! 🤘🤘
Very true. It's almost intellectually intimidating lol.
Wait, I have For All Tid - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia* Got Stormblast and For all tid as a christmas gift from my mom when I was like 13, it was awesome
For me this is still one of the best songs of one of the best bands in the world. Love them. Cant wait to see them live again.
We would love to see them for the first time!
The trumpet guy is just loving it ;D
Hahaha loved that guy!
he's my new hero!
you know how it is, when the only way to hear your favourite band live is to learn the trombone
Hahaha! :D:D:D
Nice reaction and a great song accompanied by a great performance! Dimmu definetely stands out in Black metal with these orchestral sound. The lyrics reminded me an old friend of mine, he was a designer and drew much of his inspiration from ''dark side'', so upon graduating he made a project on Dante's Inferno with a graphic depiction of all layers of hell, some of the images I remember till now! The power of art, I suppose...Keep up with the good work!
Thanks as always Boris! :)
I dont like the newer Albums, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant is one of their best. My favorite is Stormblast (the original, not the remastered Version), its sung in their norwegian language. Great Reaction! Greetings from Germany ☺
Thanks Marc! Alena and I went to Munich and Berlin last year. We loved it!
Enthrone darkness was definitly one of their best albums. However i love every album afterwards although i have to admit the last few took me a little while to get used to, but they grew better over time.
One of the things that Dimmu added to the black metal genre, is the keyboard and orchestra. They wanted to bring a "wall of sound", not just the typical basics with guitars, bass and drums. They wanted to create an atmosphere on stage, theatrical. So I can understand that Alena (yet another time) don't need to go into the lyrics. Because they does not seem that important. :) And I think Brad is right about the satanic image a lot of these bands have. It is an art form, I guess. There are of course some few bands that claims to be satanic though. But I don't think Dimmu is, even if a lot of the lyrics are about the theme. As in "In Sorte Diaboli" were a priest begins to have doubt on his faith, and awakening, and turning to antichrist.
I like Dimmu, so keep on doing them from time to time :)
Yeah me too. I'd like to show her some of my favourites at some point.
Great reaction to an epic song...! And I think you did great on the pronunciation of my name there..! :) Stay safe..!
Haha thanks! :D Stay safe as well! :)
The first video of Dimmu Borgir you guys reacted to was from the concerthall in Oslo, The "Spektrum", May 28. 2011, while this one's from the Wacken Open Air festival in 2012. Otherwise, great video as allways !!
Aah thanks for clearing that up for us :)
Are you sure? I hear him clearly saying Willkommen hier ... Mittelgebäude hier in Köln, wich means it must be in Cologne/Germany. And this one is definitly from the Wacken Open Air.
@@marcbaur677 Yes, I'm very sure ! :) Firstly, they've never done this show (with full orchestra and choir) in Köln. They did it only 2 times, First in Oslo Spektrum in 2011and the year after at Wacken. Secondly, its written in the videodescription (of that first video) that it was from the original concert in Oslo.
Their 2001 album "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" is absolutely majestic and intense. It's still my favourite metal album to this day, I highly recommend it! I love every track on it. Their bassist sings amazing clean vocals.
Awesome - thanks for the suggestion Benobot99 :)
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Anytime :)
Its my favorite album :) react to it
i have to push the like putton it´s Dimmu Borgir FFS, a true masterpiece
Thanks for doing another Dimmu Borgir song! Amazing band. I want to recommend a song from another band, "O Father, O Satan, O Sun" from Behemoth: ruclips.net/video/UA_j_72psoo/видео.html You probably don't know that band, they're more traditional black metal without as many symphonic elements as Dimmu Borgir, but I personally went from being a Dimmu Borgir fan to also being a Behemoth fan. Behemoth is really good with making quite special music videos that give so much stuff to analyse and interpret. "O Father, O Satan, O Sun" is one of their easiest songs to get into, it's actually the outro song of one of their albums. And it has a really well made music video that almost everyone tends to find quite interesting.
Thanks Tystos. I'm (Brad) aware of Behemoth and Nergal in particular. I doubt I've heard more than a song or two though. Alena loves it when the music video ties into the art, so that sounds good.
Sometimes you can have to much on stage at the one time, then theres Dimmu, not a bad thing, they know there sht well, but i agree with you Alena bout the vocals, then again thats there genre, ( hmm ok need more coffee, im so indecisive on a Sunday you know mass at St Mirrens this aftrnoon or Thornbank woods tnight?
Thornbank Woods?
Wow. That trombone player was getting in to it! 🤘
Regarding artists using satanic imagery/themes, even if they are not (necessarily) satanists: I wonder what Alena's take on Ghost would be-assuming she doesn't already know them.
She says she doesn't know Ghost. Perhaps one to do in the future then.
I think i remember them being satanic at the time (but i doubt it was theistic satanism) and after this album it more and more went into imagery. And if its not for gawd its against it so yay.
brilliant album- early DB was epic
Yeah legendary stuff!
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions MGŁA@Exercises in futility II-Darkside-Live In Poland 2017 (Drum Cam) enjoy!
React to Serpentine offering- dimmu borgir
I (Brad) love that song! Definitely one to play Alena :)
Not my style of music; never managed to get into the costumed bands even going all the way back to Kiss. Cool having the orchestra there though.
The branding looks great. Still think Alena needs to break into a little headbanging. Maybe a few more glasses of wine? Come on hon, shock him! :)
Yeah that's fair enough. It's not to everybody's taste.
Haha one day it'll happen. And my eyes will probably be closed or something :(
@@BradAlenaMetalReactions Just get it on film, brother. Get her to do it on film. LOL
:D
If I pay you do a reaction video os the song Abruptum - In umbra malitiae ambulabo?
