Right, but the iForce MAX powertrain does not do a whole lot for efficiency. It’s merely for performance and the ability to run power to other devices. I hate to break it to you but this is a form of greenwashing. The impact Toyotas standard pickup lineup to the hybrid is nominal.
@@rylans.5365 The i-Force MAX powertrain uses the same gas engine as the non-hybrid Tundra, but provides a significant increase in power without any fuel economy penalty. It used to be to get that kind of power, you needed a larger V8 engine, which also came with a significant decrease in fuel economy compared to the V6. So while the hybrid doesn't really increase fuel economy over the base V6 engine, it does provide much better fuel economy than the old V8.
@@jameslester4474 If you are using it to get more power without increasing carbon fuel usage, it is being used for economy since you won't use ad much fuel. Pretty simple my guy. They didn't mess up, they can just do math. Plus, the more you actually implement hybrid technologies, the faster they will advance.
I wish they would add that to the 2.8 Diesel or even better the V6 Diesel and put them in the Hilux. The ford Rnager v6 Diesel is just miles ahead if that 2.8 4 cyl.
Just bought a Sequoia Platinum '24! I would love to hear more about the Turbo cooling! I know the engine shuts off, but if the turbos were in high demand, is oil still being circulated for cooling? I notice the truck doesn't stay on for turbo cooling like other cars I've had did. Love to hear more about the design specs and flow!!

I hope they would bring the same to next generation Toyota 4Runner SUV. We need all of the things in Toyota Tacoma in it with a panorama roof variant top trim and please don't make the tire to thin like a capstone Sequoia. Tubeless thin radials are not good enough for an off-road beast like 4Runner.
Great video. I just got a new First Edition Land Cruiser. Probably the most wonderful, versatile, and fun vehicle I've ever driven. After watching the i-FORCE MAX description, I realize that the days of working on my own vehicles are long gone LOL! I wonder, though is the Land Cruiser engine an Atkinson-type of powerplant as in other Toyota Hybrids?
@@usmcraid5332 I’m in the process of doing that. They are trying to sell me that it’s road noise. I told them there were instances where the lane departure had to be disabled because it was a safety hazard. May I ask what were their reason for the buy back?
@@usmcraid5332 may i ask what were their reason for the lemon? They keep insisting that this is normal operation and the vibration is a normal characteristic of the vehicle.
Toyota really screwed up with the "Iforce Max" system. Instead of making a Hybrid that does what a Hybrid was meant to do GET BETTER FUEL ECONOMY , they opted to just make the Hybrid give the powertrain more Power . Dumb ! The whole point of a Hybrid is better MPGs, and fuel savings ! Heck even the Grand Highlander Hybrid can get 36 MPGs. What were you all thinking ? Plus Toyota is still using old Tech NIMh batteries instead of new Lithium cells, and sticking the overly large batteries under the Back seat, taking up Cabin Room, and in the Tacoma , totally wiping out all interior storage ! Come on Toyota, you can do like others and put a Physically Smaller Lithium Battery UNDER the Truck, between the Frame Rails for Protection, and still have the power needed. The trucks and Suvs are being used 95 % of the time On Road, and don't need all the Torque and Power full time. You can use the "Drive Modes" just like others have done, for Fuel Economy Standard, then other modes for Power, or off roading. How hard can this be? Other Manufactures have done it for years. Heck you all started the Hybrid thing, and now you have no idea how to use it properly ? !!! Seriously !
Seems like an overly complex and outdated driveline. Why not electric axles, battery and a generator on a downsized engine. Expect better from Toyota. Ram-charger for the win.
Toyota is king!!! Cant wait for that land cruiser, and the tundra twin turbo v6 is just a beast
