I’m glad that features like this are becoming more standard on cars in the $20-35k, I feel much safer knowing that I am paying attention to the road and so is my car. As someone who has to drive a long distance at night after work (sometimes after a long shift), systems like this are great for those times when I can barely stay awake.
How does it feel being able to afford a brand new $20k-$35k car? I'm genuinely asking. I've been poor my whole life.. 28 years later and I'm thinking that's never gonna change.
Absolutely love this technology! It is incredible how much better you feel knowing you, your loved ones and everyone around you is going to arrive at their destination safely. Toyota for life.
Toyota has perfected engine and transmission technology. Seems you've found another thing to start perfecting - there's a reason people pay more for Toyotas!
I just bought my Toyota Prius, I didn't use to like them but until I been driving it, must say it's comy and packed with technology, oh and it's saving me money on fuel.
This is not the case in Southeast Asia. CarPlay and Android Auto is only available on Hybrid models of the Corolla Cross. The gas model only gets T-Link if you are familiar with that.
It is great, but other manufactures are most certainly also doing this - some much more so than Toyota. Perhaps not in the USA which is one of the most price-sensitive car markets, but globally, for sure.
We recently purchased a new Toyota. The technology integrated into the car is very impressive and makes driving easier, on both the open road and in the city. Added to this the hybrid drive provides excellent fuel economy in city driving and a long range in country driving. I think hybrid is the way to go, with an electric motor doing the hard work and a petrol engine for cruising along,
I totaled my 2018 corolla , Now I'm using that insurance $$ to get me a 2022 corolla , lucky me 😀 , not to mention I was overpaid 5k based on the current market value, so heck , Imma get a new toyota 😀thank u deer 😅
I drove 2 cars 1- Honda Accord I had all safety features just like Toyota Camry all standard. 2- BMW X3 2020 around $50+ DON’T have all these features on video just mention I’m very disappointed BMW. So my list shopping will be Toyota Highlander definitely I love Toyota so quite and excellent reliable vehicles.
I wonder if there are more consistent software updates that Toyota could be provided to these safety systems that would improve functionality, fix issues, and etc. I must admit I haven't received a system update on my 2018 Camry in over a year.
Hopefully this is much better than a rental I drove a little while back. While making an evasive manoeuvre the frontal radar system decided another vehicle was too close and activated heavy/emergency braking, fortunately the driver behind me was focused and braked accordingly. Without his focus the Toyota system would have created an unnecessary accident.
So does Corolla Cross XLE in the US not have front camera? And it does not indicate pedestrian warning. Yes, it has the back camera and all the warning signs, but I dont see any assistance with front pedestrian assistance. How do you turn it on? And where does the pedestrian sign appear?
So driving on a highway, I encounter heavy construction and Toyota expects me to go through all of these menus while driving? What happens if a big rig's tire is blown and some tire or debris heads in my direction? Will my car break at high speed or prevent me from swerving to avoid the debris?
Use the horn to signal locking the car. I use it to find my 2021 Highlander Hybrid in a parking lot but the chime used is much, MUCH too soft to use as a locator. Maybe there is some other key combo that sounds the horn??
Use the panic button lol. Best is if they give us an LCD screen on the remote that gives us directions or an app on our phones. They only want these features on expensive Lexus models even if it's just a 40$ GPS module
Heh im pushing the limits on my 1990 Lexus LS400, only have one airbag in the steering wheel, passenger will not survive :) Love you Toyota, my Lexus with 255k miles going strong, my dads 2002 Toyota Tacoma with 366k miles, my moms 2006 Toyota 4Runner with 326k miles, and our 2007 Toyota Corolla with 127k miles! Pretty soon we will get a new Toyota from longo!
I wish you'd add the "Distance Control Assist (DCA)" from Nissan: it is SIMPLE, just add some software to activate the braking portion of the "Smart Cruise Control (CC)". Using CC in my 2021 Highlander Hybrid has 2 flaws that prevent it from being a DCA: CC doesn't turn on below 20 mph and touching the brake turns it off. DCA would operate at ALL speeds and only turn off with its activation switch. DCA is great for stop-and-go traffic.
Does curve sensing work while LTA is on? For instance in TSS2.0 when LTA is active and speed is 75 going around a corner it's too much torque and LTA gives up. In TSS 2.5 will curve detection slow down the car enough LTA will be able to keep functioning?
I have a couple of scenarios which are from real life accidents (each wrote off a car) 1. The driver approaches a traffic light intersection, gets distracted for a moment (looking behind prior to changing lane). Crosses the intersection just after the light turns red and another car comes past resulting in a T-bone. Will Safety Sense see this coming? How far to the side does it look? 2. The driver is driving down a street with poor center line markings. Sun ahead. Deep shadows. Driver focused on oncoming traffic. Doesn't notice a utility vehicle with a trailer parked on the side of the road (there's no marking for a parking lane and the road is too narrow for safe parking). The car just clips the corner of the trailer by a few inches - but enough to write it off. Will Safety Sense react to to a collision with a trailer where the overlap is only a matter of inches? Again, how far to the side does it consider a threat?
Will all year models with Safety Sense 2.0 be upgraded with 2.5? If this newer version has to do with safety and possibly saving lives, it would make sense that my 2019 RAV4 should be able to handle a 2.5 software upgrade.
I was hoping they were going to release and update for my Prius Prime Limited - 2020... but alas, Toyota doesn't care about this type of simple upgrade, they'd rather you purchase a NEW car to get the update!
A Prius was about to T-Bone me (distracted driver was looking up through moonroof) The Prius stopped itself before crashing into me. My life would have been changed forever had the TSS system not worked so well. A horrible crash was avoided.

I‘ve noticed that if I turn on LTA on my Corolla and I‘m in traffic, it shows that it did detect the car but with dots behind the vehicle. I use adaptive cruise control everyday and I like it at the beginning. but I got rear ended collision last week. On the slow highway my car was set to 68mph with adaptive cruise control enabled . When the traffic ahead of me slowed down aggressively and my car then gave me a alert to ask me brake. I braked so hard to a full stop but the car behind me hit my rear. The Toyota adaptive cruise control could be better and look far ahead and brake more gently and do not ask driver to brake.

does the system feature Stop and go adaptive cruise control? If so, how is the "go" engaged from the 'stop' position? Does it require a tap of the accelarator or does it have a button on the steering wheel for this job?
Yes it does! In my Corolla, it will come to a complete stop, and then accelerate back to sped if the car in front of you moves within 3 seconds. If the car is stopped for more than 3 seconds, you either have to tap on the accelerator or press resume on the steering wheel.
Thank you for your inquiry, Sid. Intended for highway use, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and Full-Speed Range DRCC let you drive at a preset speed.
