It seems the inverter converter charges the 12volt battery now. It replace a car alternator that use to do that job.

There is either wrong information in the video or my car is not working like the video states. My 2024 Prius Limited AWD never shows the rear motor MTR recharging the battery under any brak8 g or coasting condition. Both of the power flow screens (on the instrument cluster and on the infotainment screen) only ever show the front wheels recharging the battery. So is this video wrong, or does my car need an update, or is something wrong with it? I'm not expecting an answer here, but people should know its not like they say.

A hybrid car like the Toyota Highlander which I have (and love) does nothing to move forward towards an electrified future. Unless it's a plug-in hybrid all of the Power for the vehicle comes from gasoline. It's just a way to make a gasoline car a little more efficient. It's just intentionally deceptive when Toyota says hybrids will help move towards an electrified future.

This extremely complex design explains why Toyota is fighting the EV transition so hard, they invested so much time and money in this design and they have to recover their investment. Unfortunately it doesn't save the consumer much money as it will take thousands of miles to recover the extra 2 to 3 thousand dollars people have to pay for a hybrid system in fuel savings. About 3 to 5 years. It also doesn't save the environment much as European regulators are just now discovering that just like diesel gate, hybrid vehicles contaminate about 3 times as much as manufacturers claim they do. Hybrids are the silliest vehicles ever developed that are only good for Toyota's bottom line.

New engine tech (NET) being developed will be 75% efficient below 50% of torque and 60% efficient from 50% to 100% of torque. It is distributed power and needs NO electric motor. it has 75% brake recovery vs Electric at 55%.
    The combustion engine in a hybrid is ~ 35% peak efficiency. Charging, storing and retrieving energy from battery is 0.35 (combustion engine) x 0.93 (generator) x 0.95 (battery in) x 0.93 x 0.95 = 0.35 x 0.78 = 27.3%. Braking is 0.55 x 0.78 = 43%.
A hybrid is heavier and results in a weight factor of around 1.12x better MPG for New Engine tech (NET).
    Compared to a Toyota hybrid, NET will be 75/35 x 1.12 = 2.4x better HWY than hybrid. Prius at 56 x 2.4 = 134 MPG HWY. In city, 75/27.3 x 1.12 = 3.077x better. Prius city is 57 x 3.077= 175.4 with the SAME brake recovery, and with 75% brake recovery it is 36% better... 57 x 3.077 x 1.36 = 238 MPG city.
New combustion tech (NET) with a Prius body would be:
    134 HWY
    238 City
    196 Combined
196 new engine tech (NET) vs 56.5 hybrid is 196/56.5 = 3.47x better MPG on average. NET also has no NOX, CO, and can capture CO2 and water in a combined cycle. The CO2 can be used to make fuel from solar Thermal at $1/gal, vs a 100% RE grid at $20/gal for a fuel cost ratio of 20:1.
Factor in fuel cost ratio with fuel consumption ratio of 3.47 and you get a cost ratio of 69.4x from RE fuel vs RE grid in a plug-in mode.
There is NO point to making EVs with NET tech.
In Winter, NET has 47% of drive load for heat use (20% from waste, 20% from intercooling and 7% from high heating value of fuel) vs an BEV at 85% with 10% waste heat useable.
NET is also a heat pump (COP4) and thus can leverage for cooling and heating as needed.
The cost to you can be a SAVINGS of $1-2 billion on each car model and massive sales with NET. Simply install NET in old ICE cars, recalibrate airbags, and sell the model for 5 more years with NET. On year ten, you would switch to NET "skateboard" power tech and all passenger car models are in the 150/240 range HWY/City. A mini van like the a Sienna would be around 90 HWY and 214 City. Range on 20 gallons (2 minute fill) is 3000 miles with CO2 capture and 9000 miles without. No more silly charging...
The question is: Is Toyota interested in new engine tech that can make or brake the company? If not, then you might want to get ready for bankruptcy. All EV companies and old ICE/hybrid companies will not be able to compete with NET. Happy to discuss it.

I am giving them heads up, trying to get to them to see the light. If they can do it themselves, then fine. Go for it.
