If this is what you called it 'modernisation' of weapon then Indian armed forces will continue to lagged behind. There are many reasons why casualty of armed forces while encountering terrorists continue to rise despite equipped with better logistics & Intel. Soviet era weapon is one of them. AK varients may be resilient but in terms of accuracy & ergonomics they're not match to American & German fire arms. Gone are the days when war/encounter are fought at close range. Nowadays shots are fired & exchange from at least 150m to 300m. Thus accuracy is the key.
