Hey guys, this was a really great video. I especially like the scenes of the fellas walking up to the Kabul MOD, something about it is so surreal. I also appreciated the time the crew and soldiers took to discuss the frame of mind you have to be in when facing monotony as a fighting force, often left out.
Also nice treat to see the ADF there :P

      1) please tell me where I lied
      2) we went to Afghanistan in the first place as it had become a haven for terrorism
      3) the aim to start with was to try to establish a stable Afghanistan government able of carrying out its own counter terrorism operations, at the beginning we began to fight like we did in other wars however over time we have learnt and realised that this is not a war that is possible to ‘win’ the only way to do so is to support the ANA in establishing a government capable of providing law and order to the country

They weren’t exactly local military. The Afghan army and police in areas dominated by the Taliban were predominantly from the north and a different ethnic group that doesn’t even speak the same language as the people. Their awful conducting of themselves and their separation from locals is part of the reason they failed.

England alone, have been at war with Afghanistan for 180 years with the involement of the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Anglo-Aghan wars. In some form or another, Aghanistan will always be at war. We have records dating back 250 years of Afghanistan at war which is about when the country came to be formed, and it's extremely consistent.
They are never at peace for more than 30 years before they're plunged into another conflict. There are gaps here and there, but war is the very backbone of the Afghan existence, and way of life.
It's also important to note, that Afghanistan is not an old country at all. The land has switched hands, and borders many times over history, but it was primarily owned by Iran for the previous 250 years by the Safavid Dynasty. Since then even, the country has been taken over by rival factions many times. With the Kingdom of Afghanistan, and the Republic of Afghanistan both coming into power via coup.
This country is always going to be at war from my point of view. They have known nothing else. A very strange patch of land indeed.

You invaded our lands, you supported communist insurgencies in our country and at last your limitless lust for power put you in the Soviet Camps...and than Soviets supported 3 coups in Afghanistan and needed up invading the country and killing 1.5 million people.
We supported Mujahedeen (war lords) during Afghan liberation war, at the end of war your 200 years of interest tribal enmities overcame your rationality and you (Pashtuns vs Tajik and Uzbek) started killing each other.
What's happening today??? Taliban are feeding on drug business and for this they depend on three major routs Pakistan, Iran and Russia. So, all these 3 countries are giving them a route vital for their survival.
Who facilitate Taliban drug business??? @Chubby T Yes. Tactical recognition flash (TRF) is the official British military term for a coloured patch worn on the right arm of combat clothing by members of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force. It is similar to, but distinct from, the DZ Flashes worn by members of Airborne Forces.
