A little story about kurt. My Korean great-grandparents were in a pretty bad and somewhat similar situation when they were deported from eastern Russia (near Korea) to Kazakhstan. They rode in half-empty train cars and many of them died on the way. They didn't really have any food with them. When they arrived, they were simply dropped off almost in the middle of nowhere without anything, and the Kazakhs were throwing stones at them. But as it turned out, these stones were actually kurt, so they were trying to feed the people

@@lilydauber3147Kazakhstan is very big, and our winters are different. In the south it is very warm and in the north it is very cold, like in Canada or Scandinavia.
If you don’t mind I’d like to correct the story about kurt. The story Flora was telling about happened in the northern part of Kazakhstan, in Akmola region. The prisoners weren’t German, but the wives of the Soviet, mostly Russian intellectuals, scientists, writers, poets, etc. For these women, Stalin created the so-called Akmola camp for wives of traitors to the Motherland. And it was before WW2. Actually, Hitler borrowed the idea of creating concentration camps from Stalin. But the important difference is that Hitler didn’t put his own people in the camps, unlike Stalin. So, Russian women didn’t know anything about kurt, and the local people of Akmola region who lived next to the camp tried to help these poor women, but they couldn’t do this openly because of the camp guards. So our smart local people sent their children to throw kurt to the women as small stones as if the children didn’t like the camp prisoners. Eventually, the women realized that these stones were edible and that the locals were trying to help them and feeding them in such a way. So, I’m proud of the story because it shows the humanity of my people 🙂

Great video. Beautiful scenery!! If you happen to give horseback riding another go, when you are going down hill, lean back slightly. The horse is supporting their own weight plus yours. If you lean forward, it places a lot of weight on their front legs which can cause them to slip more easily and if they stumble, you could be thrown forward over their head. Instead, lean back slightly, this redistributes some weight to their back legs and helps them balance better. If they stumble they can recover more easily.
