That LOOK between the two of you at 6:12… that’s what keeps us coming back. It’s not only your reactions to the music, it’s your reactions to each other that makes this channel special!
Also, gotta point out the masterclass of songwriting this song is. In verse 1 he says, “so much for… hanging out on the Coast” and in the bridge, “she headed off for the West Coast.” Implying that he sacrificed his dreams so that she could have hers. Sheer brilliance.

When I dropped my daughter off to college, we both held it together pretty good saying goodbye with a hug. The minute I turned away I went into tears like I've never felt before. I turned around for one last look and she stood frozen in tears. Once in the car I had to sit there for 30 minutes because I couldn't see out of the windshield. You are blessed beyond what you realize right now Daddy!👍🏻

Rob you would enjoy Kenny Chesney’s. Boys of Fall it’s about the lessons that football teaches us and how we apply those lessons in life off the field. When kenny released this song he also did a 6 piece episode may have been more for ESPN about this song, he interviewed NFL players, coaches and even high school athletes. If you notice a lot of his concerts are done in football stadiums, he was a high school football player. I’m not sure if he played some college but had to give it up cuz he was just to small to compete with the big guys. He went to school at Tennessee.

This song means a lot to me. I got pregnant with my oldest son at 20 yrs old. Before I got pregnant I had dreams of going places and doing things but I wasn't brave enough to go get on a plane and go do it then I got pregnant with him...That boy and his little brother are my life since they were born. Fast forward 20 yrs later and I'm taking him to the airport to go to a big concert in Baltimore Maryland for a week and as I am walking out of the airport what do you think started playing over the P.A.? Yes, you guessed it..."There goes my life" He went out and did the things I dreamed of...

I am not a great Kenny Chesney fan, but this song is a great performance by him, and the video is outstanding!
I listened to your comments about your little girls, and I was struck by my experience raising our daughter. She was born with a birth defect that required numerous operations before she was five, but she has such a great spirit, and her mother was so strong for her (and me) that she grew into a fabulous young woman who left home at 14 to study ballet in Canada. The next year she was at the National Academy of Arts in Illinois, then she was home for her Junior year in high school and taking 21 hours of ballet classes weekly; she was selected for a full scholarship to attend a new conservatory in Florida and graduated high school and was off to Ohio to join a national ballet company. At every turn she "left" us, and we helped her leave because that was her path. Then she suffered a career-ending injury. So she came back "home" but was her own person who found her job and ultimately met her husband. They were off to New Mexico and she entered a seven year professional curriculum. Upon graduation she was off to Alabama. She has built a great career that she never anticipated as a young person; and she has a great husband who cares for her and cherishes her. They have been married 30 years and we are so proud of them both.
As your little girls grow up (and all children for that matter) your duty is to raise them to be able to "leave" you and find success in their lives. Then you will find new and special love and pride. Hold them closely enough for them to always feel secure, but to also know they are free to seek out the life they want.
God Bless you both; keep up the good work!

This got me. Had a daughter at 25, been there for my daughter ever since. First day at school, graduating from high school, watched here go off to college, congratulated here graduating from college and getting her first job. Then she got married, had a son... I'm now a grandad at 54... There goes my life... Thank you for this video.

My favorite Kenny Chesney song is called, "That's Why I'm Here." It's about a guy in an AA meeting, and since I've been sober since 12/23/2005 I can testify that someone (writer, producer, Kenny), somebody involved in the video is in recovery or is close to someone who is. I heard this song before I got sober, but it really hit home after. Kenny has a way of driving it home...I love his music.
Thanks so much for your hard work, and for the bright spot in my day. Peace, y'all.

I’m sure other people think the same but , this song was written for me and my wife . 1996 I found out after a football game she was pregnant. It was a hard weekend and I had to make some big decisions. So I quit school got a job and asked her to marry me . I never got to play my last football game but I’m proud to say next year it will be our 25 th anniversary. Although it hasn’t always been easy , I wouldn’t trade anything for it . I now have two great sons and my daughter who is 24 now . And she has given me a wonderful grandson and I have a granddaughter on the way . Life can’t get to much better than this .

There is definitely something special about the father-daughter relationship. I have a fantastic dad and one of my all-time favorite songs is “I Loved Her First” by Heartland. I will never get tired of listening to it, and (once you’ve recovered from Kenny 😉) it’s 100% worth checking out.

My baby girl picked "Butterfly Kisses" for the Father and Bride dance. She told me she picked it just to make me cry. Guess what - watching another proud Father show his love for his daughters brought tears to my eye again. As an old disabled Vietnam vet I'll take happy tears over sad tears any day.
PS - You know those girls have you wrapped around their little pinkie - don't you? It's true, my baby girl is 48.

Please try not to feel so much sadness over you're children growing up and one day going out on their own. All the wonderful parenting you two will be doing is like creating a walking work of art that will go out into the world and make it a better place! There is so much joy in teaching your children all they need to stand on their own and thrive.

I grew up without a dad so what a blessing your children have to have 2 parents that love them. Hopefully you will be blessed in the future when you have grandchildren that will bring all that joy of little ones without all the exhaustion. Enjoy every moment as your children grow. You will look back and remember all the good times and most of all your children will remember all the love you gave them.

I’ve heard this song and seen the video countless times and I can’t help but tear up every time I watch it being a dad to 2 girls. It hits you right in the gut and, like Amber said, makes you want to slow things down.
The genius of the song is how the chorus is first explaining his feelings of dread and then it’s completely flipped in meaning without having the change the line, “There goes my life.” And it’s such a true statement when you have children.
