      Hey Justin! Thanks so much for stopping by brother! Always appreciate you man and the kind words. Yeah man, great classic scent for sure. I’m glad you also enjoy Irish spring. You really can’t go wrong with it. I rock this one all year round. You have a great weekend as well!!

      @@DoubleAshaves you’re welcome! I don’t have the shaving soap, but used to use the bath bars all the time, so I’m very familiar with it.

    It’s funny that you are talking about PAA’s double slant, because I love that razor with a Astra blade.

      Thanks so much for watching James! Great choice with astra, they have always been my go-to blades. Frankly every time I use this razor nowadays, it's just okay and doesn't do it for me like some of my other razors. Honestly I probably just need way more practice with slants. I'm gonna keep using this one to see if it improves for me. Thanks for the encouragement and hope you have a great week!

    Great shave Aaron! I honestly don’t even know what Irish Spring smells like but I know so many people love it so I’m sure Doug’s version is excellent!

      Thanks so much for watching man! Do yourself a favor and pick up a bar from the drug store or supermarket. They also have an aquatic smelling version which is nice too, but not as good as the original in my opinion. The soap has been around for like 50 years or something like that. It's great stuff. Enjoy your weekend matt!

    Great shave Aaron.
    A lot of people are thinking the name of that soap got changed due to copyright issues or trademark infringement.
    Apparently, the reason PAA has a soap called CaD is because it used to be called BarberPole, and Barbasol sent them a Cease and Desist letter… So they changed it to CaD, same thing could have happened here.

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  Год назад

      Hey Ben! Appreciate you stopping by to watch man! Yeah, that makes sense. I figure that's likely part of the reason for the name change. I suppose that's just part of the business. Enlightener Well has a cool name and label in my opinion, so I think they did a good job with what they had to work with. Ha, funny story about CaD. Always thought that was an unusual name for a soap based on classic barbasol. Thanks for the clarification. Love that scent too. Hope you have a great weekend ahead!

    Hi AAron again a really great job! Awesome soap and splash from PAA and this Razor i love how they look!
    So I found between Merkur 34 and German Slant 37 where are similar except for the slant. The Slant works more thoroughly although it feels the same! That's what I personally noticed!Have a great day!

      Hey Robert! Thanks so much for watching and the kind words my friend! Always appreciate your support. Yeah, PAA really has a way with their aesthetics. I love the way their gear and soap looks. The scent on Irish springs is great also! You would love it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the slant design. I've heard great things about the German 37 slant. Maybe I'll try it out at some point. You have a great weekend as well!

    Fine shave Aaron. We got up to 77 today! Felt so good. I don't have a slant and I can't wrap my head around the engineering. Anyway you did a good a job with it. For scent I've been leaning more toward an EDT spray. Recently picked up so old school samples. Hope it warms up soon for you.

      Thanks so much my friend for the continued support and kind words. Always appreciate you man! Happy to hear the weather is working out for you! Enjoy it! Yeah...the slant design just seems silly, almost like a marketing gimmick. Really doesn't shave any different than a normal de razor haha. Enjoy those samples! I'm a fan of old school scents, especially old school barbershop type scents. Have a great warm weekend!!

Happy to hear you enjoy the scent on enlightener well! They really did nail it. When I first saw that they had an Irish Spring homage, I had to jump on it. Awesome that you also have this brush and razor. I am such a sucker for yaqi synthetics. Enjoy it man! Happy shaves to you and enjoy your weekend my friend!

    Nice shave! You can back it off a few turns and make it more aggressive. My PAA plastic slant had directions telling how to do that to make it more efficient.

      Thanks so much for watching Justlin! Appreciate your kind words. Shoot…I totally forgot you could do that with this razor. Oh well, I’ll give that a go next time around. Thanks so much for stopping by man! Always appreciate you watching! Yeah, some other people here too also mentioned that about slants. They look cool but I really don't find that they shave any better than a normal de razor. You're certainly correct, lots of amazing razors right now for sure. It's a great time to be a wetshaver :). Thanks and you enjoy your weekend as well!

    Hi Aaron, I believe the new versions of CK-6 now come as 4oz jars (instead of 5pz) at a lower price (great idea), could be one of reasons for name change, another could be brand name infringement. Lovely lather as we expect from paa.👍🤠

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  Год назад +1

      Hey Lawrie! Thanks so much for your time and kind words! I appreciate you! Huh, well I'll be damned. Ck-6 does indeed come in 4oz jars now. I didn't notice, thanks for the heads up! I totally agree that that's a great idea. 5oz is too much in my opinion. Even 4 oz of soap lasts a heck of a while. I definitely support that. PAA always lathers great for me! Gotta love it :)! Have a great day my friend!

    Cool! I've been wanting to try one of those slants to see how they compare to others that I have used. As for the name of the soap, I'm guessing that they got some heat for calling it Irish Springs. I don't know what scent note is in it but I don't like how it smells. I guess it's supposed to have a "green" note added to the original bar soap smell? I swear, I feel like my sense of smell is broken. Everything that people say smells good just stinks to me. Like straight up unpleasant and sometimes awful. All of the classic revived fragrances fall into that category, like Sun Down, Sacre Blue, and Shave Chaser. They all smell like cat pee to my nose. It can be really frustrating but at least there are lots of things that I do like. Thanks for the video. Have a great weekend!

    • @DoubleAshaves
      @DoubleAshaves  Год назад +1

      Hey Eric! Thanks so much for watching man and for your continued support. I always appreciate you. I don't notice a huge difference between slants and de's, but like with everything in this hobby, your mileage may vary. A lot of people in the community very much enjoy the slants, so there must be something to it. Yeah, I figure that's the reason for the name change. Especially since the description of the soap on paa site doesn't mention "Irish Spring" even once. Sorry to hear it's not for you. Yeah, I think they were going for the bar soap scent with a fresh, green "minty" type note added. At least to my nose that's what I get. Haha. not broken at all man. That's how it is with fragrances. Everyone interprets them differently. I think that's one of the beautiful things about the hobby. I was never crazy about a lot of the classics either. While I don't mind them, the "old time" type muskiness of them never spoke to me. I strongly prefer modern creations and I think many would agree with us. I'm happy that there are many soaps you enjoy though :). It's a great time to be a wetshaver with the endless options. Have a great week man!

      Thanks for watching Jake! Appreciate your continued support on my content, man. Thanks for the heads up. From time to time I’ll check the secret menu to see if any new mash up soaps are out. The only one I have is cavalier and it’s amazing. Cavenbute sounds like an awesome mixture. Never smelled tribute but cherry and sandalwood sounds right up my alley. I’ll have to give this a go at some point. Thanks for the recommendation dude and have a great weekend!

    Hey, Aaron. Are you Australian? Living in Tasmania?
    I thought you are American.😂
    I use Irish Spring bath soap as my pre shave.
    Its scent is not strong & impressive to me, almost unscented.
    Anyway nice shave with Irish Spring shave soap!

      Thanks so much for watching Hoon! Always appreciate you stopping by! Yes, I'm American. I'm from Pennsylvania (Northeastern United States). I would certainly love to visit Australia sometime though! Still waiting on some warm weather to come here. Yeah, I forgot to mention that you enjoy using the Irish Spring as pre shave. I would be curious to try that myself. I'm not a big preshave guy, but I think it could be fun to experiment. Interesting how your Irish Spring doesn't have much of a scent. Here the Irish spring bar soap has a decent scent strength, at least from last time I smelled it. I'll have to pick up a new bar soon to see. Thank you for the kind words, and hope you have a good weekend!

    Personally I consider Slant razors more of a gimmick, if I want some slant type strokes I just use the Gillette Slide.🤔

      Hey Lawrie, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yeah, I agree. Slants look cool but they seem unnecessary when you can just angle your normal d.e. razor differently. Glad to hear you also think so. Have a good weekend my friend.
