If you've ever seen Drew in the studio....he knows his tone like the back of his hand. They probably just use the guitar tech so they have someone that can hand him a new guitar between songs. Gotta love Drew's tone regardless.
If there was ever a band that was better live than in studio, it's these guys. I didn't really like them 'til I saw them live back in '08. Let me just say, best show I've ever been to.
@BabyMan39 i was thinking the same thing, i've been playing acoustic for a year and a half and i got my first electric back in may, watching this has made me realise i've got A LOT to learn lol
@rjensen264 I bought a BST-1000 off craigslist. A pretty gnarly sounding guitar. Because the pickups are not wax coated (Jon screaming into them) they kind of sound old and crunchy. The guitar was actually signed by Jon.
Hm, I don't know what stuff you've listened to, but you should give the album Nothing Is Sound a listen. It's my favourite by far in terms of depth and feeling.
@missrenee1 youre kidding right? Jon writes the songs. ON his guitar... he plays more guitars on one tour than Drew! Acoustic electrics and solid bodies. For at least half a concert youll see him playing an instrument whether it be guitar, harmonica, piano or the mandolin. The only one who plays more instruments than Jon is Romey! But than who DOES play more instruments than Romey??
Really? How so? I've had the chance to meet them on several different occasions, and they remembered who I was and joked around with me, and took the time to talk to me when they were super busy. They are all super down to earth and just like to hang out from what I've experienced. What makes you think that? P.S. I'm not trying to be snide, I'm actually curious.
Why do I hear so many questions on here? First off, I assume your watching this because your a switchfoot fan, so stop asking "what song is that" questions like that! The song in this video is The Sound by switchfoot. Off their album Hello Hurricane. This is the ONLY album that they have used this stuff on, so it should be pretty obvious. Secondly, just go check out JHS pedals instead of waiting for people to answer your questions on here. Great band, great men, I've seen switchfoot a few ti
Love this ''jhs mode'' ☺, hope one day guitarist will spent few hours to learn couple of things and realize that they overpay to those dudes who do ''modes'' aka google and find solution on net and just use them...that is why lot of real engineers stooped posting stuff on net due some jerk take schematic, or change value of 1 part and wow he have ''original design'', makes me sick.
hahaha i didn't know this band, but after seeing the tour i totally expected this kick ass rock band. but then this totally gay song comes on at the end WTF.
@41224jason i tried listening to the first four songs, the intro to "The Sound" was okish. the rest is just typical american teeny rock, just what most teenagers in the US listen to, not a real reason to like that predictable stuff, sorry. And WTF Limp Bizkit man, are you 12? Make that BRMC, or The Black Keys, or The Kills, etc. There is so much actually good music out there. Have a good day.
I never said anything about how they actually are other than that this guy seemed like a cool guy. I just don't like their music, it's very close to muzack to my brain, like some sort of computer generated filler of rock. Something about it annoys me.
Met him last year.. They're like the friendliest band on the planet. Especially Drew.
Whether you like Switchfoot or not you cant deny the great guitar tones they use all thanks to Mr Shirley here

Feel like Drew is basically his own guitar tech lol
looks like a sweet rig. And Drew always sounds awesome, he adds a lot with cool effects and such
It's got an explosive quality to it! :D
I have no idea what you just said but I love how passionate you are
Woah... I just noticed that I'm in one of the ending footage parts at the end... Sweet...
awesome video quality, look like a movie
They should do a vid of Jon's gear :D
This guy is a huge gear nerd. NICE!!
sounds like its gonna EXPLODE!!!
@BabyMan39 i was thinking the same thing, i've been playing acoustic for a year and a half and i got my first electric back in may, watching this has made me realise i've got A LOT to learn lol
I will check it out because you took the time to tell me. Wish me luck :P
@rjensen264 I bought a BST-1000 off craigslist. A pretty gnarly sounding guitar. Because the pickups are not wax coated (Jon screaming into them) they kind of sound old and crunchy. The guitar was actually signed by Jon.
ahhh hes so awsome!
where do people learn how to use and understand these things?
Hm, I don't know what stuff you've listened to, but you should give the album Nothing Is Sound a listen. It's my favourite by far in terms of depth and feeling.
@AustinGraggmusician he mics them. you don't get tube sound when you line out of amps
nice camera you have there. great video quality.
I really like last switchfoot album! more fuzzy and intresting!
@rjensen264 No but it was autographed by him!
Never really listened to Switchfoot, but Drew seems like a bro's bro.
OMG IT'S BEAUTIFUL :,)
@MrMorrris he did it prob to mute the hiss from all the gain pedals before hand
@TheNation21 guitar brings me joy. :)

Looks like this was shot on a Canon 5d or 7D, looks great..
Es un genio bendiciones!
I wonder what the Supro Super amp sounds like. I want it so bad.
Really? How so? I've had the chance to meet them on several different occasions, and they remembered who I was and joked around with me, and took the time to talk to me when they were super busy. Does drew go Line out of the back of his amps to the board or mic them into the system?
so...since they sound like theyre gonna explode, will they?
painted by someone I love :)
The Sound (John M. Perkins' Blues). Good song.
@thetyleranasaurus yeah meant watts, and yes i know this, i just find it funny, love drew, hes a cool guy

@hobbesismycat
Becasue the video is still processing
@Hazpon The sound
Dude is straight tech geek. Fucking awesome. lol
@MrShizzleism Give Switchfoot a listen, they're great!
what's that first guitar??? it's so cool, but i can't catch what he says.
you could tell that Tech thinks he's a lot cooler than it really is.
I didn't realize how much gear you needed to play power chords.
may seem like a strange question but what kind of shoe is he wearing? looks awesome
Macbeth sneakers. Tom DeLonge from blink-182’s shoe brand. I believe the brand may not exist anymore :(
youtube has been around for five years, you'd think people would learn that videos take time to process.
Is his main guitar a '73 tele? cause ive been searchin a while and the closest tele i found was a '72 tele.
@41224jason
Holy cow... you just ripped that dude... NICE.
you definitely should try to learn more about it... it's a pretty cool science hahaha
@MrMorrris someone with a successful band.
LMAO my digital board has more amps than th head he was using :P I love drew, cool guy, got to meet him once :D
@RT101894 and that's the way it should be ;) just wish it was the case more often.
@ItsA6StringThing fuck yeah -- mbv especially
0:40 THAT is a TS?!?!
"custom painted" you ain't kidd'n!

@hobbesismycat Thanks!
You just turn it up... sounds like its going to explode. My kind of amp!
This band annoys me, in a sort of you-don't-belong-here-and-I-don't-want-you-here kind of way, but this guy's pretty chill.
@Hazpon The Sound
@zck6505 Korg sells a ton of'em ;)
what band is this?
they're painted by someone you love :D
@BabyMan39 research
@MrShizzleism So he looks like you? :D
Drew, I love you, but I don't understand anything you just said!
Lol! You gotta be a guitar player in order to understand that stuff! 😂
hahaha i didn't know this band, but after seeing the tour i totally expected this kick ass rock band. but then this totally gay song comes on at the end WTF.
he likes turning knobs.
@iwishiwasjonforeman ohh didnt know that lol
Betcha he's just camera shy
i like how the guitar tech knows nothing about the gear.
@Supermogadon lol
He looks like he still dresses like he did in highschool, which looks weird since his face looks like someone's dad.
@iCantPlayScales dude, they're not punk! haha
like a jhs commercial UGH
Make this vid makes it hard to play Snake over it.

as a general rule I prefer large piles of coke>
Wow horrible quality, but I do like gear tours.
