I just finished my first nuzlocke with Alpha Sapphire. My dear dustox Madam, who was with me the whole journey from lvl 2, died to Kyogre. It was very emotional. She sacrificed her life to stop the whole world from flooding. She was a true hero.
R.I.P
Madam the Dustox
The world has no idea you saved the world
That's the bravest dustox I've ever heard of.
Madam is with helix now. There there
f
Not a nuzlocke but my mightyena Vesper lived on 1 hp several times and landed several crits thanks to the whole PokemonAmie thing which i took a lot of advantage of because you already KNOW im spoiling these pokemon
Flappy, my Natu.
I look back and think,
"Man, I was bad at naming."
That's an amazing name IMO
Flappy bird.
I had flames the charazard
Oh?
**looks at Cloudy the Swablu, Fletchy the Fletchling, Evo the Eevee, Nido the Nidorina, Mew the Mew... **
No, Flappy is perfect.
That moment when you're doing a nuzlocke and you run into a wobbuffet
Know how u feel
Oh dear god yes I feel u
Especially if you have the "no fleeing" rule
Wobbufett has Shadow Tag. You can't flee from it anyway ElectroZach
+Micmacaroni slowking!!! why!!! i had already fully beaten lilycove!!! he was my starter!!!
Critical hits.....thats all I have to say.
It's like the game knows that you are doing a Nuzlocke challenge...
Want to know whats even worse?
One Hit KO moves
TheDragonFable at least they rarely every hit
Sunny The Espeon you sat they rarely hit next thing you know they hit it 3 times in a row
I lost my starter to 1 can I get an F in the chat
The most tragic pokemon you can lose is your starter.
And a Chansey.
Like if u cry every time
+harwin monzon I started a Locke where I banned pokecenters and half way through the second route on gold I realised I forgot to buy potions I got into a battle and my starter died so I then sent out my lvl 2 sentret which I named samata and he killed the opponent with quick attack.......
RIP Turk the cindaquil
+harwin monzon and magicarp :o
I lost them all….my starter….my first catch…..my power house……my flyer…….My bug type…..all that survived was my butterfree……in the end i lost everyone to the champion of the FireRed but i managed to win with butterfree at 17 hp……i ended up transferring him to heart gold so i could go again
Never forget

Our lost heros......
They gave their lives for their trainer. Gone, but not forgotten. KIA, R.I.P
Hillariously, it's been four years now, and the White version is still in progress
Talha Emre Dursun yes, I am indeed referencing the comic. It's worth a read, but you'll have to wait a year for new ones to be releases
Yeah, he updates very slowly (quite a procrastinator). It's very good, however. I would suggest that you read from the very beginning (Ruby) as the storyline continues from Nuzlocke to Nuzlocke.
White and black and W2/B2 were actually hard. I ended up having to rely on my Swords Dance set Lucario to save me
Lamp Cannibal well, myths of unova is finally over after over six years, so there’s always hope.
Andre Oliveira
do you respect sacrifice of mimi and smol bean andy
Starters are always the saddest to lose. Normally starters are Pokemon that represent limitless potential and a partner that will always be with you, so losing them hurts. However, I lost my Dewott Kenshin to the Ground Gym Leader in Pokemon White and I lost my Quilava Magma to the final battle in the Radio Tower in HeartGold, with ONE LEVEL before he evolved! Moments like that just hurt so much more.
MFAniki6390 well in my omega Ruby wonderlocke only 2 Pokemon died, a goomy and now I feel bad for forgetting the other one
I lost my swampert in my Emerald nuzlocke right at the very end
During my Sapphire nuzlocke run Glacia and her OP walrein Killed my level 86 Blaziken, my last surviving pokemon, nicknamed "Lucky", in one hit with Sheer Cold.
*YOU DON'T KNOW LOSS LIKE I DO*
+The Super Q She couldn't do that. Sheer Cold only affects lower levels, and the Walrein is at about 53, no where close to 86.
Treyce Warner Thats actually a typo on my part. My Blaziken was 76, not 86. The formula for sheer cold is:
Accuracy% = (User level - Target Level) + 30%
Plugging in the numbers means its
(53 - 76) + 30, which yields an accuracy rating of SEVEN PERCENT.
SHE HAD A SEVEN PERCENT CHANCE OF LANDING THAT BLOW TO MY SOUL.
Oh, I'm sorry! I thought that if you were a higher level in Gen. 3, it just says "But it failed!". Fail on me!
Jesus why'd you over level that much man I almost beat emerald with a ninetales vs Wallace she swept until she died to milotic
Well, that was not very lucky.
...for lucky.
I went through Yellow version on a nuzlocke... but before my second badge... I lost my poor Charmander! I made solemn vow then and there that I would never let anyone else lose! I left Charmander's slot open, because that belonged to Charmander, no one could replace him.
The Feels
Fake your playing yellow how did you get a charmander
Crystal madu
I guess you've never played Yellow version then.
***** yes yes i have and you can only get pikachu
Crystal madu
You can get all 3 starters in the game.
Bulbasaur: A girl in Cerulean city if your Pikachu is at max happiness
Charmander: Given to you by a guy past nugget bridge on route 24
Squirtle: Get the thunderbadge and officer Jenny will give it to you in Vermillion city.
Hard to believe this video sent me down a rabbit hole that would ultimately kickstart my love of trying to worldbuild stuff and playing challenging games such as Etrian Odyssey and Persona alongside Nuzlockes, but here we are.
Thanks to the Nuzlocke challenges, Pokemon games have gained my interest once again. Before, I quit playing because they were simply too easy. Now, imposing these restrictions on myself have made the games as difficult as I want them to be. Maybe someday, Gamefreak will make Nuzlocke an official settings in future game.
Swift Lee Sounds like it could be fun, but if pokemon were automatically released upon fainting... I think I'd keep any shinies I found in a box forever! Assuming that a shiny clause was actually added in the setting, anyway... I would probably cry if it wasn’t.
Even if this is three years late I just wanna say if you're still looking for a nuzlocke setting then I recommend playing Pokemon insurgence
Game Freak will never improve. Use rom hacks that fix all of their garbage time wasting mechanics and eliminate trade evolution requirements.
Ah jeez...just thinking back on my first Nuzlocke gets me all emotional and shit. First time I ever had a team without my starter when my Charmeleon died. By the time I finished the game I had this steroided party of 5 that demolished the Elite Four without losing a single one. Seriously what broke my heart though was building up the members I did and losing at least one with each of the gyms. Then I got really fucked when I totally forgot (despite having played through Gen I more times than I can count) about the rival battle before Victory Road. The fucker took out half of them. Had to scrape across Kanto to find event Pokemon in cities I hadn't caught anything in yet. Got the Earth Badge with six Pokemon, rival left me with three, then went into Victory Road with six, then came out of it with five. In all seriousness that champion battle was the most strategic shit I ever did. Of all the Nuzlockes I've done my Blue version challenge will always hold a special place in my little black heart
*sniff sniff, single tear*.
I lost no pokemon at all in my first, big accomplishment, nope, not in ORAS!
+Kyrakia of Aexia Did you have the exp. share on? In gen six, you can't have it on.
+A Games Player wrong!!!! you can it is a key item that does all party pokemon
They are stupid easy. I gave up on that nuzlocke. It just wasn't fun to demolish the entire game with no problem at all. I only play firered, soul silver, and the original ruby as nuzlockes.
man...remembering my combee.......life, huh?...
One day I decided to restart Pokémon Black. So I deleted my file only to realize I had a Genesect, Meloetta and my first ever starter (a Blaziken) still on the cartridge. I cried.
Quintin Folmar they are all just a bunch of wasteless hours of pixels dont let pixels bring sadness to real life
oh no.. same thing happened to me too i had given my gen1+2 games to me cousin she wanted to clone some good pokemon. she put my first ever charizard in my gold version that had only a couple of badges and very few pokemon caught so when i wanted to play gold again i didnt check what was in the boxes and started a new game :/ visited her a year later and she didnt have her games anymore
See this is why I never start over.
I accidentally deleted my Emerald Data. R.I.P. Raltie. I have a shiny Mew in a MasterBall now.
*OOF*
I came up with a rule for anyone who wants the challenge of a nuzloche without the waste of permadeath: instead of releasing the Pokemon that have died, put them in a pc box labeled "heaven," "graveyard," etc. Someone may have already come up with this, but I thought of it on my own.
I just thought of something called a SteveLoche, based off of yugioh abridged, the character Marik leads an army of people all named Steve, so you must Name the Character either Marik, Malik, or Melvin. You must name all your Pokémon Steve, or some variation of it UNLESS you get Zapdos or something like that, then you name them Mega Ultra Chicken. And then standard Nuzloche rules, but the box for dead Pokémon will be called the Shadow Realm. That’s what I got so far
I named mine “R.I.P”
I named mine DED
I do that too bro, it's always nostalgic to look back to those who died
With shmurda
Lost Nuslocke to final battle. Rests in peace team, 2016-2016
Marriland knows how you feel (Sun).
Are you addicted to the guy or something?
Could you guys imagine how hard it would be if twitch was a nuzlocke?
lewis conroy No I can't imagine, but I'm guessing it would probably be very odd.
I know about that channel, but I agree that the nuzlocke version would be very difficult indeed.
lewis conroy That would end in about five minutes.
+DittoMaster6 Probably.
lewis conroy A streaming service where you only get to catch one pokemon per area?
I'm never doing a Nuzlocke on pokemon white. I'm doing it because I always want my starter as Oshawott (because it's my favorite pokemon) and if it dies I'm gonna cry forever.
*NOT doing it
Also my Samurott is lvl 98. *Does not know how to delete game file and does not WANT to*
Up select b all at the same time on the zekrom title screen.
I'd end up cheating and putting my fainted Pokémon in the PC
Connor Wilson That's not necessarily cheating.
i am glaf you did this video. i do nuzlockes myself. and have told my friends about it. but i did and have read the comic from his ruby run. it was great, glad more people will know the true start of these wonderful events and story's that have been made over the years.
in pokemon heartgold. Gets to Kimono Girls. Snaps Ds in half
Sean Thigpen I had Pokémon crystal and they weren't that hard then. are they hard in HeartGold?
Edit: I now know, from a few of you who responded, that the reason they're so hard is because you have to fight them back to back and they're stronger than the first time.
Sean Thigpen gets to Clair in silver throws gameboy out the window
Future Drive Whitney*
JoshtheOverlander in the remakes you fight them before you go to ho-oh/Lugia and you fight them back-to-back.
Solgaleo Get tf in My Bad Nebby
I failed my Pokemon Y Nuzlocke challenge while fighting the Elite 4. I made a foolish decision to switch out my Pokemon and lost my best Pokemon Frazen the Greninja against the dragon-user/my first opponent. Eventually my last Pokemon Simisage bit the dust when he was incinerated by a Torkoal. The worst part was that I had a Bagon that I was training, but it died early on in my playthrough much to my dismay.
Dean Wynn
Unless you lost via pursuit, I will give advice to NEVER switch into Greninja unless it wont get hit. Greninja is a Fast but Frail pokemon,a Glass Cannon. Just damage control for future Greninjas
Dean Wynn i failed mine in glittering cave bro...
Zackattackplayspokemon *Sage the Greninja from Marriland's X Wedlocke looks at you, confused*
Poor Sage. That video series is what got me to finally finish a Nuzlock. Was so happy when I won. I have since then beaten Gold, lost White and beat Alpha Sapphire. Now doing Soul Silver with two badges and no deaths, though I almost lost my Geodude Apple Jack to Bugsy.
I'm 29. My wife and I dusted off our Heart Gold and Soul Silver to start a Nuzlocke.
How did it go? (He asked optimistically)
I have added another rule to this challenge (for personal runs) and that's that the First Pokemon per Route only can be ignored with a Master Ball. Since the MB is only known to appear once (on average) per playthrough, this subversion of the rule is a fair tradeoff in my personal views. Basically means the Master Ball is your one chance to catch any Pokemon in the game you'd like, BUT ONLY ONE. And no legendaries. Thats still against the rules in my book.
Seams like a reasonable rule.
8 years later, I'm finally trying one. I'm playing Black 2, so far, Beavis the Sewaddle, OHAIDOGGY the Lillipup, Scotty the Cottonee, The1% the Rattata, and SteveIrwin the Sandile have all died, but Bajie the Pignite, Mr. Magoo the Magnemite, and Horat the Minccino brave forward, and IN TERMS the Vaporeon awaits Clay in the next town.
Hey JWittz, why don't you do a Nuzlocke?
My first Pokemon game was platinum. I instantly fell in love with my Turtwig whom I named "Twitch". Eventually Twitch was the only Pokemon I used, and became the first Pokemon I ever trained to lv. 100. Time passed and I got Pokémon Soul Silver version. Once I became strong enough that I knew Twitch would obay me, I link traded him into the game, and again after a while he and Lugia were the only two Pokémon I ever used. Then I got white version. I was so exited to see all the new Pokémon that I forgot all about Twitch until I saw the Link Trade building. While Twitch was being transferred, I accidently dropped my DSi and when it hit the ground the game somehow became separated from the console. I lost my very first starter Pokémon in a trade and it crushed me. I was depressed for days afterword and now it has become my tradition to name every Turtwig I ever receive "Twitch" to keep alive the memory of a lost friend.
I just started a Y nuzlocke, and just lost one of my strongest and oldest members, Ember the Fletchinder. She was so strong but was always doing Sky Battles on her own and she was eventually outmatched.
The Sky Trainer had an Emolga, a Wingull and a Staravia. If I had known I would have never challenged that Sky trainer. She put up a good fight, defeating both Emolga and Wingull despite her type disadvantage, but Staravia's Intimidate stopped Ember from one-shotting it with Aerial Ace. When Staravia used Retaliate, my heart broke and I was helpless to stop it.
R.I.P. Ember the Fletchinder, lvl 5 - 29
My thoughts are with you :(
I'm so sorry for you. :( one of my favorite pokemon is Fletchinder
I had a similar situation in my X Nuzlocke (still a WIP)...my Fletchinder, Fudge (candy naming theme) went against that Trainer and almost died multiple times, but he just barely pulled through. However, in his next battle against a Trainer's Hawlucha, it used Rock Tomb and he went down OHKO. He was my second Pokemon to die, after my Floette Fizzies. Shall all six Pokemon I have lost so far Rest in Piece ~
Fizzies the Floette,
Fudge the Fletchinder,
Starburst the Solrock,
M n M the Mienfoo,
Skittles the Sandile,
and the one to stay the longest, the second Pokemon I caught, the third Pokemon I owned, the one I hated at first and loved at last, the underdog who held his own much longer than anyone would have guessed:
Dum Dum the Dunsparce, who was lost at caught at level 3 and lost at around level 37.
Our thoughts are with Dum Dum. Nobody else though, because Dunsparce is BOSS!
Dunsparce is boss! No one gives him credit, he's actually fairly legit. The others I didn't grow as attached to, other than Fudge and Fizzies, to their own extent.
In memory of Donna, my beautiful Nidoqueen. She got killed by a critical hit Mega Kick from Lt. Surge's Raichu in Yellow. Without her double kick, I could never have beaten Brock. Thank you, Donna
I played through Emerald, my Arbok and Combusken laid a baby Ekans.. but the duo ended up dieing on top of Mt Moon in a tragic misplay. Both died in the same (double) battle, and also on the same turn. A unfortunate Magnitude 10 and suddenly two dead pokemon in my party, as both were weak to ground type moves. And what's worse than having two of your pokemon die simultaneously?
Remembering that they had an egg, a level 5 Ekans, waiting back at the PC for them :I The feels were off the charts
Releasing the two was the most difficult thing I've had to do in a Pokemon game. Needless to say, I raised their level 5 Ekans into an absolute beast and I wrecked the Elite 4 with her.
you can get to mt moon in emerald?! i had no idea...
My bad, I misspelt Mt. Chimney xD I'm pretty bad with recalling places in Pokemon games
Hooligan HorseApple haha
Magnitude 10? I call HAX! Seriously, the chances of Magnitude getting 10 isn't that high, so the game is seriously cheating.
Here's A Little Nuzlocke varient I call the Nooblocke, A nuzelocke for Beginners. It's a set of rules I made Because I'm currently in my very first Nuzlocke challenge to make my first go a bit more lenient and less cruel.
1. Any Pokémon that faints is automatically considered dead and must be released or permanently sent to the computer.
2. Only catch 1 Pokémon Per route.
3. Nickname All Pokémon caught.
4. If the Pokémon caught is the same one caught in an early route it can be ignored( This rule does not apply if the Pokémon is an evolution of a one I previously caught or if it's shiny.)
5. Gift Pokémon(Starter, Eevee, and Lapras) can be revived.(Before you complain, My reasoning for this is that These Pokémon were entrusted on to me, so to Just throw them away would be a tarnishing my word.)Note: The Magikarp From the salesman, In game trades, Game Corner, Fossils, and the safari zone don't count.
6. If i accedently kill the first Pokémon i get another chance provided it's the same one i first encountered on a route.
7. Gifts, trades and Game corner and safari zone don't count as encounters in a city.
8. I have Unlimited Captures in the safari zone.(I make up for that for not going back after i get the HM for Surf and the Warden's False Teeth.)
I lost raticate.
O_o
My ratata is better than yours.......
4Zer04 wanna bet.
Green/Blue Oak Let's do this 8)
4Zer04 Wild 4zero04 appeared, Green sent out raticate!
I once tried a Nuzlocke where I could only catch a Pokémon after I got a badge (starter not included). It... didn't go well.
HISTORY HAS JUST REPEATED ITSELF!!!! I WAS NUZZLOCKING ON OMEGA RUBY AND MY NUZZLEAF DIED!!!!!
Was Nuzleaf called Nuzloke?
He will never be forgotten
Jaiden released a video where she did a nuzlocke. She also had a Nuzleaf which died. (To Zigzagoon pin missile.)
@Rocks nuzleaf wouldn't be called a strong pokemon so i have a feeling that's why it always dies
A beloved lvl 46 ninetales named Kurama... lost him to an earthquake from a piloswine...
Oh... and BlitzKreig the ninjask.... fuckin' rock throw
Ohms my pikachu died from a crit from a machop 1 shoted fuck u SS ANNE
I lost my damn Chevrolet (Krookodile) to a crit...
#NeverForget
#sharingyourpain
Rip Clifford the growlithe who died to Jasmines Steelix
My first Nuzlocke was the two/three rules ones + no buying Items at any markets/vendors (could only use items found, given to, rewarded, picked up, traded, etc, but never buying them)
I recently failed, my first Nuzlocke.
My Blaziken, Chun Lee (Yes it was a girl) died in the exact same way the Ruby: Hard Mode comic ended: Taken out by Steven’s Metagross.
I wasn’t just going to abandon the save file though, I grew a connection to the Pokémon in it, my Aggron especially.
So I started an Emerald Nuzlocke, and I was devastated when my Vigoroth fainted.
Yeah get used to deaths in Emerald, never gets old
I've lost like half my party in sapphire to the curse of paralysis keeping you from hitting that tackle
RIP
Mineral (aron)???-???
Kippy (mudkip) 5-17
Hope (Poochyena) 3-9
Navi (ralts) 3-16
The lone survivors are Hades the tailow and Guevara the shroomish, and I have only 2 badges.
mission impossible; nuzlocke run on the ash grey hack. There are battles you are meant to loose, a lot. The one catch restriction means you'd just never be able to keep up with the guaranteed losses. The first battle with Brock is an almost guaranteed Game Over, and even the first fight with Jessie and James wold require luck to survive. Might be do-able if scripted losses don't count, but a true nuzlocke run...good luck. Player who can pull this off= nuzlocke ledgend (good luck, i don't even dare to try)
I tried playing Ash Gray... got softlocked in the second gym
ever since i started nuzlockeing (about 2-3 years ago now), its been the only way i’ve played the game. so far i’ve been able to complete quite a few, and enjoy it so much. makes the game so much more challenging, engaging and enjoyable and really makes you think about how you build your team to optimize it for certain bosses and the e4.
Here is something interrsting, best nuzlocke pokemon per region:
Kanto (gen 1): Chansey
Johto (gen 2): Magneton
Hoenn (gen 3): Slaking
Sinnoh (gen 4): Bronzong
Unova BW (gen 5): Amoonguss
Unova B2W2 (gen 5): Drapion
Kalos (gen 6): Aegislash
Alola (gen 7): Alolan Muk
did a Platinum run.... had a Luxray level 49. his name was Scar, and he was killed by a Hipppowdon...
Jeff Woods why would you send a luxray against hippowdon
He was my last Pokémon
Steve...The best Hippowdon... Steve wanted to redeem himself to me by killing your luxray...
My Luxray was named Phosphora. She died at 42 to a high roll Bubble Beam from my rival Scout's Empoleon.
You can do a Nuzlocke for pretty much every game where you can die.
So here is my spin on it...
Introducing...
THE NATELOCKE CHALLENGE - Super Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy
-> If you get a Game Over, you have to delete your file.
-> If you lose a life during a mission, you cannot get that Star/Shine ever again (Excluding Final Bosses)
-> You must beat the Final Boss if you get that far
Have fun!
NateSnivySmasher Some early stars are necessary, which is the same reason a run of no star bits to the final boss is impossible
During my recent Platinum Nuzlocke I lost an important Geodude to a Pachirisu right before I needed it for the Purugly fight at the Valley Windworks. Aggravated, I went to catch a Pokemon at the Windworks only to find... a Pachirisu. Was not thrilled, but decided that I'd use it as Fodder against Purugly- only for it to sweep Mar's whole team. Pachirisu, who I renamed from Fodder to Sparta after some time, had incredible luck with crits and was invaluable in many fights. Even the battle that lost me my starter, Veilstone gym, was saved by Sparta who OHKO'd that Lucario. I took that funky little squirrel all the way to the elite four and he made it all the way through. Not only was that a wild nuzlocke, it permanently changed my view on Pachirisu as a Pokemon, I would say that they are my favorite electric type and within my top 5 favorite Pokemon. Sparta really was my team's savior all the way through and I will never forget that.
I lost my precious flyby, a great crobat with a heart of gold.
Let me guess, was it in HeartGold?
yes....wow, I didn't mean that
I did a nuzlocke in Pokemon Yellow and my pikachu, named Sparky, fainted in the champion battle
+Matthew Haffner
considering how easy it is to have Pikachu die in that game because Pikachu has a terrible defense stat and critical hits were extremely common in gen 1, that is pretty impressive
yeah, zapdos, jolteon and raichu (duh) are better electric types
@@xyzzy-dv6te Yes but in Yellow it's impossible to get raichu or jolteon and most nuzlockes have a no legendary clause so pikachu might have been one of his only options other than magneton
RIP blueballs, the shiny voltorb.....that sorta takes away from the sadness, right?
I'm fixing to do my first Nuzlocke playthrough on Omega Ruby. I picked Torchic as my starter and I can already taste the tears. Blaziken was the first Pokemon that got me through a Pokemon league back in Pokemon Sapphire.
I lost my BLASTIOSE TO A GASTLY THAT USED DESTINY BOND rip Leo...
+Axel Cordova Now THAT is some poetic shit right there. As an episode, or especially as a season finale, watching that would absolutely annihilate the viewers.
I only have one thing to say: "Screw that".
(My attachment to pokemon is too great for this demonspawn challenge)
Pokemon Leaf Green, the only Nuzlocke I've ever done. Sure, I lost a few Pokemon along the way, but most of them didn't last long. But then, none of them were Abacus... I caught him as a Mankey, and I thought it'd be funny to make the head canon that on top of being a fighting type, he was also super smart, hence the name. I was down to about 8 Pokemon in total, and I grinded the fuck out of their levels because I knew if I wasn't ready and cocked it up then it'd be all over. The team I took in made it to the Hall of Fame with me... except Abacus. It was a little over a year before I could have another Mankey on my team, and when I got her (Chyna) all the way to the Hall of Fame alive (in a non-Nuzlocke), I knew I had redeemed the loss of Abacus. Wherever you are, my simian sidekick, your efforts were not in vain.
The four horsemen of Nuzlockes:

I'm doing a nuzlocke randomiser
One of the first I've seen and caught was Sunkern
I named it WWWHHHYYY!!
You should have named it "*DISAPPOINTMENT!!*"
R.I.P Patrat. lv. 2 - lv.6.
I never said I was good at Nuzlockes.
SANIC R the cherrim :'(
CAN YOU FEEL DA SUNSHIN, IT GTS BRITER EVRRY DAY!
That name is just... GODLY!!!
James May Gotta catch em fast!
James May DON'T YOU FEEL THAT SOMETIMES
YOU JUST WANNA CRY ALL DAAAAAAAY
If anyone is looking for a new challenge, try this: You must use the first Pokemon possible to represent each Elite Four member's type for that game. For example, in Gen 1 you would catch and use the first potential Ice, Fighting, Ghost, and Dragon type Pokemon you run into (that does not mean you have to search an area you know a Pokemon). You must try to make your HMs fit on those four to try to prevent HM slaves. Typing should be based on the final form of that Pokemon, so Magikarp could be used to represent Flying type, and Onix could represent Steel. Before battling the Elite Four, ensure that each type is being represented currently by a Pokemon in your team, then deposit any HM slaves. No starters allowed after the first intended Pokemon is caught (except for HM slaves). If a Pokemon has two types you intend to use, you must catch the next Pokemon of either type so that each role is filled by one Pokemon. If you run into the same Pokemon again, you may choose to wait until a different Pokemon shows up or you may catch and use the duplicate also. You may catch as many Pokemon as you'd like, but they must go to the PC immediately. You may also use an in-game traded or given Pokemon, such as Eevee, Mr. Mime or Onix. Legendaries are allowed, simply because in most games it is highly unlikely that you will reach them before running into a Pokemon of the same type. The following are recommended rules: 1. Battle every trainer as soon as you can. 2. Walk through grass at every opportunity. 3. Evolve as early as possible. This means that you can not wait until you gain a certain attack. 4. Each time you use a PokeCenter, spend half your money on escape ropes, repels, evolution stones, or other non-battle items.
A safer way to semi-nuslocke would be putting all your fainted pokemon in the pc (apart from one if you black out) and not using them til you beat the league/full game. That way the ending feels much more rewarding.
That's what I would do; I'd put my Pokemon into retirement rather than releasing them and wouldn't touch them again until post E4.
Yeah, releasing your best 'mons is just too sad, I would put them in the PC and save them for other games.
The ones that I grew the most attached to I put into my battle box when they died, and after the challenge was over I transferred them over to my other game using Pokébank.
I have just started a new Nuzlocke challenge on Pokemon Y to make the game harder because I found them easy. Even though I just started, here are some that have fallen.
R.I.P Bunnelby "Mobzilla"
R.I.P Furfrou "Fakesol"
No..... Please no..... Dear GOD please no..... Crobat.... You were gonna last..... Diantha.... You shall pay...
ThePotatoSquad lol
jalen pizarro Diantha took the best Pokemon on my team. Diantha. Took. Crobat. SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?! DIANTHA KILLED HIM?!?!?!?!?!
ThePotatoSquad How DARE she!
I'm doing one on X!
I've never done a Nuzlocke challenge, but I beat Fire Emblem Awakening on lunatic difficulty with permanent death and no resets. It was tough.
The hardest losses so far in my Platinum Nuzlocke were my Leafeon, Corrin, and my Gyarados, Tai Lung. They were so cool, but died in training and never got the chance to do anything worthwhile.
Lard Lad was a great Emboar. Key word: was.
Lol Nuzlocke just uploaded the next part of White: Hard Mode for the first time in a year and I'm kind of excited
me: "catches a shiny" yeah! (later it fainted in battle) "reading the nuzlock rules" ... AH HELL NAW!
Pokemon Ultra Moon, I did a first-pokemon-caught-is-your-starter run, and I got a Buneary. On the last fight of the elite four, right before we fight the champion, my Lopunny gets taken out by a crit. Unfortunately they were my ace due to other tragedies, and had the super effective moves I needed for a clean win on the Champion... So the result was I lost the whole Nuzlocke without them.
*Does A Nuzlock Challenge*
*First Pokemon Is Bidoof*
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
+Hayden Matthias Bidoof, free HM slave.
+Hayden Matthias
Don't diss Bidoof. Amazing HM slave and decent stats as a Bibarel. R.I.P Jerry the Bibarel. FUCK YOU KADABRAAAAAAAAA!!!
+astha thakur If I get HG/SS ever, that'll be my first Nuzlocke.
That's funny because I made it so I couldn't use my starter aside frome catching a new pokemon. So I went out and found a bidoof as my new "starter". So right now he's a level 25 bibarel
Fuuu fighting gym leader and he died :( RIP Le Doge level 3 - Level 25
I am sorry, Zeke, my dearest Pidgey, for I let you die at the hands of a youngster named Joey, who continues to call me to brag about how he was the victor and you the loser. I am sorry Ryan, oh beautiful Bellsprout, for I knew you weren't ready. I mistook those Unowns for mere collectables, and that mistake cost you your life. I am sorry, Harold the Sentret and Billy the Ratata. You were valiant warriors. I am sorry Zelda the Pinsir. While we were never close, you were a true fighter, never giving up even when hit by a Flamethrower. And I am sorry, Ned, the blazing red Gyarados. Your death led us to victory against the tyrant Lance. To all of you...
Good night, sweet friends.
Rocky bird (Areodactle) Got killed by a wobbafet gosh dang bounty hunters.
There are two deaths that will always haunt me for the rest of my pokemon career, My Crobat Barbra, died by the hand of a team flair admin's pokemon. And my Starter,Friend, and son Hearthin, the fox who died to a Snorlax Earthquake. You will never be forgotten my friends. Rest in peace
I did a Nuzlocke of Y version a while back. It was easy af and in retrospect I shouldn't have used the Exp Share. The only Pokémon I lost (that was memorable) was a Lapras who was underleveled at the time and died on its second battle.
I just recently started a Wonderlocke (Nuzlocke where all Pokémon caught are wondertraded) and so far I've had no deaths.
Wish me luck!
Good idea for a new Locke
A wonderlocke has been around for a long time in fact about a month since the feature was released (pokemon X&Y) it was created
Oh. Had no idea.
I'm up to the 7th gym and have my team f six
Bacon Master funny because I did a blinde nuzlocke of X and Y without exp share because I saw people complaning, and so far I've lost 4 pokemon and I'm at the 3rd gym.
Myths of Unova ended up being my personal favorite Nuzlocke comic.
Lost 25 Pokemon in my two nuzlockes. Three of the big heart crushing deaths was Gregory the Lapras, Patrick the Aggron, and Tyson the Charizard.
DAMMIT I MISS YOU GUYS COME BACK WAAAAAAAAA
My geodude is called Patrick. :P
Charles Reidelbach
i always name my geodudes pacman :p
i have never seen anyone in my life that was as bad as cutting their hair as me
stay strong my dude, it's eventually gonna grow back
NUPTUP SHALL RULE ALL!
I lost a level 54 pupitar to a level 25 oddish :,(
Doing a Nuzlocke makes me wish Pokemon had multiple save slots...
friends make me wish that
I currently am following basic Nuzlocke rules in Pokemon Fire Red, like You're only allowed to catch one Pokemon per are or route, and when a Pokemon faints, it's considered dead, so you can't use it again, so I put my dead Pokemon in the game's PC in a box I called DEATH.
I'm starting a Nuzlocke, I'm probably going to hate my self after I do this
I never really liked Nuzlocke, as they don't create difficulty, they enforce grinding. The entire point of the increased difficulty is to make the journey fun, something grinding isn't. Instead, I go by this challenge:
1: Catch only the first Pokemon in each area, just as in a Nuzlocke challenge.
2: Only use items(excluding Pokeballs) outside of battle.
3: No backtracking, unless the game demands it, or if your destination can be reached without fighting at all.
4: No grinding. Period.
5a: Not perma-death, as your Pokemon will faint.
5b: However, if you black out, you must release a Pokemon, random or of your choosing.
5c: You can have reserve Pokemon in the box, but they cannot be released until they become a part of your party.
But if you always survive then you almost never lose.
I usually just grind up the starter
A way stop grinding is to use the rule that says you cannot pass the next gym leaders highest level pokemon. So like in Fire Red your highest level for Brock can only be 14 when you enter the gym, than 21 for Misty and so on...
R.I.P to chest the Chespin
RIP James the Swellow. You will always be in my heart
With the advent of more competitive battling, pokemon have become worthless. breeding hundreds, if not thousands to get shinies, or ones with perfect EVs, or
just simply not caring about them at all. Nuzlockes offer respite from that, and
I believe it to be an amazing thing.
Case in point, I lost only one pokemon in a nuzlocke I played through, my
shiny goldeen, Iglith. Died of rocks. Oh well, I still kept it though. XD
Krikey the Kriketune... :'(
Never forget... R.I.P. (Lv.4-Lv.65)
Face it, if you choose charmander in R/B/Y, there's a 90% your nuzlockes gonna end with Brock. Trust me, I've been there.
But you cant choose charmander in Yellow....
Huh, Somebody was unlucky, I caught a Mankey and got to to level 10 before fighting Brock
Where did you find a Mankey? Most of us are lucky to even get a halfway decent Male Nidoran with double kick in Yellow or a Butterfree that doesn't suffer from the Gen1 miss every fight.
Christopher Smith The grass near victory road.
I’ll miss you forever, Rapture the Staraptor.
my emerald nuzlocke:
pick starter: torchic named Dinner
then i vs May get crited to death
end of nuzlocke
This is the best thing I've ever seen
Garrett Allar Emerald randomizer nuzlocke trying to catch a wild celebi and it ended up killing rapeurmind (Natu) the Celebi's name was "Rapekiller" and purposefully killed by may's Electrode.
My emerald experience: all of that but with a treeko I named geico
rip Munkey the Pansage
I lost him to the first gym of X and Y
That gym becomes the absolute hardest gym during a Nuzlocke
Why tf would you use a Grass type against a Bug type when said Grass type doesn't have another type that makes Bug neutral (unless it's Chespin, since Chespin get Rollout).
I once tried XY cursed venemoth for like 10 minutes (learned the hard way that only chespin in can survive infestation long enough to beat venemoth)
I Only Ever Did One Nuzlocke, It Was On Emerald And The Ending Of It Swore Me Off Of Nuzlockes Forever.
I'd Managed To Get Through The Entire Game (Up To The Champion) Without Losing A Single Member of My Original Team Which By This Point Was:
Swampert
Linoone
Aggron
Minun
Armaldo (Yes, I Got The Claw Fossil Before Encountering ANY Wild Pokémon On Route 111)
Altaria
So, By The Line I Was Ecstatic With My Nuzlocke, Looking Forward To My Next One, But Then Disaster Struck Me. I Was Facing Wallace For The Title Of Champion, Putting All My Belief Into Minun And Linoone (Being The Only Ones Who Knew Thunderbolt) I Was Wrecking Wallace, Swapping Between The Two Pokémon To Give Them Both A Fair Shot, But Then Wallace Sent Out His Whiscash... I Was So Proud Of Minun And Linoone For Putting The Hurt On Wallace And his Team That I Didn't Notice He Was On His Last Pokémon... That I Didn't Notice It Was Whiscash... So Following My Original Battle Plan, I Sent Out Minun. I Did What I'd Been Doing With Him, Told Him To Use Charge To Boost His Own Electric Power For An OHKO On The Water Pokémon. Then To My Horror, I Saw Whiscash Staring Down My Minun, I Panicked, Trying To Reverse Time To Call Back Minun And Swap Him For Altaria, But I Was Too Late, Minun Used Charge And Then... Then Came The Ground-Type Move... I Don't Even Remember Which Move It Was.. But It OHKO'd Minun.. I Was So Devastated, I Closed My Emulator And Deleted The Save File (I'd Lost My Emerald Cartridge At This Point So I Used An Emulator) I Mourned The Loss Of Minun That Night And Vowed Never To Let A Minun Die Because I Wasn't Paying Attention Again. I So Far Have Lived Up To That Vow, In Memory Of My Dear Sweet Minun.
To Really Understand How Hard It Was Having Minun Faint In That Battle, You Would Need To Know The Amount Of Strategising It Took Just To Get Him To the League In The First Place, With Minun (Like All The Electric Mice) Being A Fairly Weak Pokémon In Defences, I Had To Use My Turns Perfectly To Make Sure It Didn't Faint. It Was So Difficult Getting There With Him That It Was Crushing Seeing Him Faint. For Even Further Understanding You Would Need To Know That Like Charizard, Umbreon, Armaldo And Rayquaza, There's A Special Place In My Heart For Minun, I've Loved That Little Mouse Since I First Ran Into One On Ruby And Never Stopped Loving It. So Having Him Faint Was More Devastating Than Anything Because It Felt Like I'd Lost Part Of My Family... I've Never Done A Nuzlocke Since And i Don't Plan On Doing Any In The Future... I Can't take A Repeat Of That...
My OCD Demands That You Need To Stop Capitalizing Each Word In Your Speech Like This. Unless You Read Homestuck And You're Just A Big Fan Of Kanaya Maryam, I Find It Painful To Trigger The Caps Lock Button Over And Over Again.
The move that caused you to lose your beloved Minun was most likely Earthquake. While battling Wallace and his Whiscash in Alpha Sapphire, Earthquake was used and took out my darling Cosplay Pikachu. Even though I wasn't playing a Nuzlocke, I still understand how you feel, I was pretty surprised when Pikachu's Thunder didn't even touch Whiscash then distraught when it used Earthquake and took out my level 60 Pokemon, despite it only being level 43.
Princessofthepuppies I Have A Bad Habit, Deal With It.
Kalee Latimer That Whiscash Is The Bane Of My Existence When I Have Electric, Grass/Poison Types And Fossil Pokémon... DAMMIT WALLACE!
SarzeLight I could never do that..................I will also live by your vow. What was your minun's Nickname?
William Ross
During That Playthrough None Of My Pokémon Were Nicknamed. It Was Before I Started Nicknaming Them. But Now, Now Minun Has Gained So Much Of My Affection I Call Them Mattie (A Modified Version Of My Own Name)
4:51 This is actualy so underrated to enjoy Pokemon. It adds just that extra bit of challenge and realism when you have to adapt on the fly to your opponent's move, and risk taking a hit. Ever wondered why the Battle Tower is always so much more difficult? It's because it uses 'set'.
Pokeball, an electrode, i forgot to change him after a battle with a guy with flying types RIP 2014-2015
HA HA HA HA HA
I wonder what Mr. Nuzlocke is doing now.
yeah... I wonder what he's doing?
This video makes me want to go read those comics...
Not finishing White.
HELLO I AM FROM THE FUTURE AND I CAN SAFLY SAY the comic is still in progress even after ALL THIS TIME!!!
I am from the future future! It has finally been released
I lost my crobat Niles to a critcal hit from Flint's Infernape. Aerial came so close ot killing it, but Infernape got me. ; - ;
lol that is one epic cover XD
u draw it?
what pokemon was aerial
No, i meant that crobat used aerial ace
My pokemon Y nuzlocke, my Vivillon named Cocoa. He was so adorable and i never really thought the Scatterbug line was all that great, but Cocoa was with me through out my whole journey. He was there when he single handedley destroyed any team flare grunt. Single handedly destroying Ramos and Valerie and almost Olympia all by himself. We were, in the elite 4, and up against Seibold. His Clawitzer used Dragon Pulse and critted Cocoa. His little pink wings wouldn't flap anymore and i literally began bawling right then and there. Cocoa i miss him so much.
Dang few months before x and y hit... It felt like couple of years when I was breeding pokemon like mad in college.. Been 7 years already
One rule for myself I came up with is that you cannot let your Pokemon evolve.
R.I.P Gastly :'(
Gosh the Nuzlocke comics are so gooooood! He's gotten so good at story telling.
Ill never forget....the day I lost weavile....
*sniffs and pours out kool-aid on her grave*
ill miss you....
I lost a Pokémon I named lefyishere (I was naming all my Pokémon after youtubers). He was a bellsprout and died on the same route I coughs him in. RIP I didn't care about you lefy.
Hey this was released on my birthday and I love nuzlockes
FirePork08 happy bird day
FirePork08 🐓🦃🕊
I always wondered about why it‘s called „nuzlocke“. At some point, I got to know the Pokemon Nuzleaf and wondered if it had anything to do with it. The weirdest part is honestly the E in nuzlocke. Why is it there when it‘s silent anyway? In English, mind you! (Because there certainly are languages with silent Es at the end, French for example.)
Now, it all makes sense.
