I'm more impressed by his grasp of palm muting... he does make the triplets sound pretty rad, but the palm muting is the best part. Palm muting is easier than triplets, but a lot harder to make sound as neat and expressive. lol.

Metallica uses a lot of "galloping" riffs like in battery, dyer's eve, disposable heroes, and a ton of other songs i can't think of off the top of my head. but triplets sound different. Think about hitting a high hat on drums. Play triplets by playing 16th notes..but alternate the down beat between your right and left hand. it should sound like "tri-pa-let" "tri-pa-let". gallops are just 8th notes with an extra note in between.

Its stated in his description of all of his videos. He uses Logic Pro 9 and Final Cut Pro. both of which are pretty pricey programs.
