I love the depth of the set lists on this tour. The two day format is brilliant and gives so much more flexibility when creating set lists. 🤘🏽
Yeah, it's great. Also gives more "return on investment" for travel costs if it's an entire weekend and not just a single day.
@cmarch2277 by the way, this is a recording from a festival where they only played for 1 night :) but you're absolutely right, 2 nights without repeats is great, I hope other bands will also pick up this idea

@@jd0879 I don't know what you're talking about, holier than thou is not a popular track, judging by the number of listens in spotify, it's at the level of tracks like all nightmare long or, for example, disposable heroes. Otherwise, these tracks cannot be called deep cut at the same time. it's something in between.
Except that this was a single night experience since it was at a festival.
And they only got 15 songs, which is some of the lowest number of songs I've ever seen on a show in nearly 25 years of Metallica touring I've assisted to so far (not so long ago, 18 songs per show used to be the lowest standard you could expect for a show, and 20 songs per night wasn't really unusual).
Holier Than Thou is one of the hidden gems on the Black Album! 🤘🤘🤘

What we need more is Struggle Within. That's a badass mean aggressive song on the Black Album that everyone seems to forget about!

And if you only take in account the MOP album, Leper Messiah is far from being the most left aside song of the album on this tour: Damage, Inc. hasn't been played so far, and the last time Disposable Heroes or The Thing That Should Not Be has been played live goes way back to before the Covid 2020 crisis.
Leper Messiah is definitively back on the front of the set list with the M72 tour!

@@CentralOHSirens Agreed, there are too many songs they haven't played in ages (or even never played before), and with their live production engineering, I think it's the perfect time to bring back all the forgotten titles that have been rotting for too long way behind.

I'm impressed by how much better this sounds than the album. Such a rich bass sound from both the drumkit an bassguitar. Metallica still sounds like a well oiled machine.

As much as I love these guys and it's incredible that they've gone on for this long, I think James' voice might finally have had it. I've watched a few recent uploads from the last couple weeks and it just seems like in some videos they're pumping the music higher than James' vocals and in the ones where his vocals are at a normal level with the music, he really sounds like he's struggling. Even on 72 Seasons, there were some REALLY rough areas with his vocals. Crown Of Barbed Wire sounds like the James of old but Lux Aeterna sounds really over-processed. It honestly seems kinda sudden at least on the live shows. Even the shows from late 2023 still sound like what we expect James to sound like live but every clip from 2024 sounds really rough and labored.
I'm so glad I was there to see Metallica live for my very first time, after missing the 2022 show in Florence 😢
