As heartbreaking as some of these crashes could be, the fact that most everyone seems to be laughing about it makes it much more fun to watch. You guys have a great place to fly even if it is a bit windy at times.
The way he laughs, the way he says "landed" even though the plane has exploded into a fireball, the hilarious shots of wheels coming off. Also you can really see the friendship between these guys just having fun. This just made my day!
My son was a member of a local flying club, but jacked it in when one of the meetings nearly ended in a punch up. Just a bunch of middle aged children !

@@cinegraphics the air force does that with all their lemon pilots. If they fail with the RC variant then they have to use a matchbox toy and their imagination to move back up to the RC then the real deal.

That seaplane model showing what a structural overload looks like was amazing and scary. 22:14 was quite simply amazing, lol Some of these jet models look absolutely amazing, they must take so much time to build then paint the end sequence is definately great! lol

Im just getting into this R/C community, and learning about them with my sons...we started with a couple trucks, but I definitely want to build a plane in my grandfather's memory. Thanks for the kind words. I like to showcase the fun that we have with this hobby and how, even at the worst of times (ie: when crashing) there are still laughs to be had. This hobby teaches people the joys of persistence and how to handle life's little disappointments.

Watching this has taught me that I am not good enough at landings to get an expensive jet. Most "pilots" in this video flying expensive jets are the same. :)
Given the aircraft looks about 6-8 feet lengthwise, and it was traveling half of it's span every frame, we can probably conclude that it was traveling between 3-4 feet per frame. Assuming the video rendered at 60fps, we would be looking at a plane going roughly 120 to 160 miles an hour.
Amazing similarity between all these crashes. I have studied each crash in detail, and categorised all the different causes of the crash. After much statistical analysis, I deduced the most common cause of crash to be contact with the ground. 😁
From now on, every time I find myself heading for an unintended landing Bruce’s Chuckles and Cheers will be playing in the back of my head! Too funny!! 👍
5:24 I have a Fokker E3 Model at home. My grandpa made it 40 years ago, all out of wood and plastic coating. He wanted to throw it away because it has no electrics and he cant fly anymore. It has a wingspan of 1.05 m and a lenght of 90 cm. Now I will try to make it fly again. Does someone know how to calculate which e-motor it needs? (I havent put it on the libra yet)
Seeing this makes me thankful for the fact that all of my flying has been with drones. I started with a losi 10th scale RC car. Electric with nicd batteries. The moment I saw drones on TV in around 2014, I knew that they were for me. The hobby was just so expensive, but the goggles and transmitter will probably last you. Most of the cost is props, motors, arms, antennas and batteries ect. The electronic bits add up quick. Planes are cheaper and far less complex. That and the extended flight time are the only advantages in my opinion. Possibly nostalgia as well. I've been flying drones for years and haven't met a soul in my rural county who flies an fpv drone or ever seen an FPV drone fly around with my own eyes... Sad. I tried flying line of sight in the beginning, but it ended badly.

Not as many as I have had. I made a rule that pilots were to give 1 minute notice before crashing but it seemed to get ignored

I have concluded that retracts, turbines, and proximity to the ground are the main problems! :-P
No, the main problem is Gravity! It wins everytime!
Pneumatic retracts suck. I stopped using them a few years ago and replaced the ones I had with electric. :)
