Absolutely love watching you two work together. For what my opinion is worth, I reckon your balance of tutorial, explanation and time lapse in your videos is bang on. Great to see Al on the trowel too. Far too many young lads in the building trade these days that aren't interested and don't give a shite about their workmanship or the end customer. Al is deffo following in your footsteps and will never be out of work with his attitude. 😊
I was impressed that you cut the sill around the brickwork rather than cutting it square, the easy and less attractive way which many do for their convenience. A great job.
Came up very well. Looks like it’s going to dry out a very good match 👍🏼 Wise not to do the fiddly bit around the gas pipe. Personally I never work around gas or water pipes unless there’s a stop valve I can shut off. Not worth the drama that can unfold. Learned that lesson many years ago.
Great team, can’t see why they say Alex doesn’t work I think his a great worker, having done the same type of work for years as a bricklayer you need someone like him to put his hand at anything. Great work guys.
Just been watching this video where you took out the window and the back door. I have worked on a few of these houses where I have took out the wall from the kitchen to the dining room makes a place so much better.
Thank you I enjoyed the video, I wish you could show more. When I played wiyh bricks there were only stocks and flettons nasty flettons when the hoddie brought them if you picked them up too quick you had bits still I think |'ll leave the building to you two I'll just watch although my fingers itch to hold the trowel at 77 I need a break
Ile try and clarify some of the comments I've seen, the fella who mentioned Dyebrick was talking about brick tinting something which can be done if the client is fussy and wants the infill to match 100%, as for semi engineering's it's a common term down my way for any clay brick with holes in it, basically frost resistant we then call red and blue engineering's with holes class B and solids class A, not sure if it's technically correct but it's always been like that down here👍nice job 👌
Nice chisel work. What do you do with the old doors and windows if they are still good? We take all our old good stuff to habitat for humanity to be resold and fund new housing for people in need.
Nice brick work Alex and it seemed fast as well! I cant believe how fast you demolish and tooth the old out. I have concrete facing brick maybe thats why its harder but it takes me HOURS to demolish using all the power tools and the brick recip saw! Next time Im using the disc cutter!
The hard part for me (when I bricked up the old boiler flue outlet) was matching the mortar. Guessing the sand and mix ratio. Cos it looks different until dry. Fortunately my guess worked out perfect! Along with a trip to the brick library to get the best match bricks. The Gas Board had come along with some random bricks but I said if they knocked fifty quid off the bill I would do it. I guess they wouldn't have toothed-in either! I am an amateur not a brickie, but gained my degree in the university of life!
Great video! What was the reason for keeping those thirds in on the ex door wall? Also what was the fixings on the right hand side of the window and also, how did you close the new cavity?
Thirds !? I think you mean 3/4 s . They stayed as they fitted the new brickwork. I can’t remember the fixing we used and the cavity is sorted out by the plasterer 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild aye sorry 3/4s, just wondered if it would have worked out better for yourselves taking them out. End of the day you guys were there and did the calcs and it's a job well done by you both so no critiscm just airing thoughts. Looking forward to the next one 👍
Bosch sawz-all, says it it all doesn't it. You could sell that door and window. I think there is folk that recondition them. Probably put in during the first diy gig in the 80's and 90's, replacing real hard wood doors.
