Highly disagree. Trading is absurdly powerful once you get it down well. It took me about 2 years of playing before I got good at it, but once I did I was profiting 15-30 packs a day for nearly an entire year. Your statement is only partly true for beginners, but I would still argue trading CAN BE better for new players because the natural game progression is way too slow for free to play players and there's literally nothing you can do about it other than pay money. At least with PTCGO you can trade old cards for new ones in almost an instant if you over trade a little bit, but now once you're out of credits and deep into the ladder you're just screwed.
Main problem for me with PTCL despite their graphics downgrade, is the forced PvP, a casual player like me (and my friends) who like to experiment or just chill against IA are done for...

Damn. That’s a bummer that expanded is almost completely dead in live. I’m a casual player who likes playing expanded in TCGO since it lets me be more creative with building.
Having invested thousands of dollars and hours into PTCGO, I am furious at this change. PTCGL is awful. The original programmers & developers were LIGHTYEARS better at their job than the current PTCGL team. Not having trading in the game is unacceptable. Not having tournaments is poor marketing. As a Hearthstone high-ranking player since beta, the two MOST COMPLAINED about MISSING FEATURES in that game are TRADING & TOURNAMENTS. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU TAKE THEM OUT OF POKEMON WHEN IT ALREADY HAS THE MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES IN THEM?!
Watching the trailer I thought it would be a huge success, but unexpected plot twist. . . It’s actually a DISASTER 🧨💥💣🌋 (Except for some people who believe otherwise)
Just lost a PTCG Live game because after I played my game winning boss's orders it didn't let me select the mewtwo V I needed to knock out and take my last two prize cards, instead I had to switch up one of their solrocks to not time out and lose, then got knocked out by their mewtwo. yikes best part is I was watching this video and was thinking "come on, Live can't be that bad, its going pretty smoothly for me" then it must've read my mind or something and gave me a game losing glitch. Fantastic.
I got stuck in a match because it asked me to drag a basic Pokemon in the active spot when I already did :-/ it never let me out, the timer didn’t even change at all, or even let me do anything, and I don’t want it to count as a loss because I didn’t even play for it at all, so I’m not sure what to do and I have no idea if it will count if I exit the app. It also got rid of the shortcuts in the original game, ex. you used to be able to drag supporter cards to the Pokemon you wanted to select, so you didn’t use time dragging it to the middle, and then clicking it.

The main issue I have with TCG Live is that it overheats and drains the battery too quickly. Even a game like Genshin Impact, which I play frequently, does not heat up and drain my battery as much as TCG Live. This makes me wonder what it is about a simple card game that drains your battery so quickly. Is it really necessary for a card game to consume so much power? The game play on TCGO online was far superior. The only features of TCG Live that I enjoy are the battle pass and crafting system.
I really enjoyed playing PTCGO, and had a lot of rare cards. When the merge happened I wanted to transfer my account, but the new Pokemon TCG Live still hasn't come out in Japan, so I cannot play it anymore 🤨. I hope that Japan gets a release soon. It might be possible with a VPN, but I head that people who change their IP get banned.
I do hope TCGL can improve since it's still in beta, but it's January 2023 (almost February), & a lot of the issues are still there, like currency being scarce, booting up the game, & a few other things
they dont care, why put love into it when you dont make any profit anyway. Honestly just put microtransaction in it and make the game better i dont mind honestly. Look at master duel, while game is super expensive the game quality justify it.
I miss PTCGO so much. I was just picking up the game when I found out they were turning it off. Live is just less good, and very overwhelming to one who isn't familiar with any of it.
One of my biggest gripes for Live is the grabbing of prize cards. PTCGO automatically grabbed your remaining prize cards if you knocked out enough pokemon to grab them still having to manually grab your last 2 prize cards when knocking out a 2prizer gives your opponent the chance to rage quit before you get that prize card message
This is something I'm used to growing up with Nintendo products, I mainly jumped into TCG as I more recently started buying physical decks again & a bonus was getting codes that could help me expand my knowledge as a beginner (Noob). Typically I bought cards as a kid to collect rather then play. In saying this I mainly jumped on TCG to collect daily coins to earn more decks to play through the single player mode & get used to the rule. I know its basic as but playing afew NPC is nice enough to spend some time while relaxing. Thanks for putting the single player comparison in this video (20min20sec in) as no one els has confirmed having a single player mode in live... once June comes round & TCG is sunset... I may just uninstall it & have one less game to play (possibly migrate it to live especially if TCG is no longer available to play at all & I wanna keep the decks I've earned/collected)
Finally downloaded it for the free decks... wow, Live is straight garbage. Worse in every way from the old game I still play. And the graphics are hilariously bad on my iPad, even though they are perfectly fine in Online. There’s no question, Live is a clear example of total incompetence of management and design.
This isn't even like the difference between magic arena and MTGO, the same games with much different focus (if you're playing MTGO still it's probably for eternal formats and to draft cube) This is just 2 different versions of the same game but one is worse than the other, so strange. The only real difference it seams is crafting, why not just add crafting to the old one? It's not like there is a huge secondary market that will be upended like with MTG.
Well they’ve made big steps , started playing in February TCGL and I’ve built god knows how many decks, mind you I do buy Pokémon cards regularly since then as well so the codes help but just finishing the season rewards and getting extra crafting coins after duplicates it’s a win. Easy to build
Really wish PTCGO was preserved (local server emulator) for playing against the AI. Sure, the AI wasn't the greatest, but the next newest Pokemon TCG game is a GBC game, so there's not exactly competition (the GBC games are awesome for sure, but after decades they do get kinda old).
Also ptcgo should not be sunsetted but instead updated even if that means it's not available on phone devices I 110% don't care if it's not mobile I care I'm going to lose items I've spent my hard earned money on and knowing it's going to be a horrible grind to regain what I have lost.that and the simple fact I can't go back and play old decks I made years ago in expansion bums me right out bc what's the point collecting any more? That let alone the grind of buying physical cards to acquire a small amount of packs as opposed to trading extras you get for more chances. Even if you can make the cards it takes the thrill of getting lucky away from openings to trading in my opinion that was my favorite part!!!! 💔🥺
There are a lot of bugs in TGCL on the computer e.g. in the selection situation I am not able to select any card. The mobile version works better but poorly optimized. I like so much more to play on the computer.
Live absolutely cannot compare against Magic Arena, Hearthstone, or Runeterra as you stated at the end of the video. With regards to catching new players, with its stingy economy, it will never be able to attract free-to-play players. Magic Arena and Hearthstone are two of the stingiest digital card games, and yet they are about five times as generous as Live is for free-to-play players. This has been by far my biggest concern with Live since day 1, and there has been zero progress after almost a year. I know people don't like trading, but fact of the matter is, through trading, PTCGO is at least playable free-to-play. Live is absolutely the worst digital card game for free-to-play players, and it is the biggest reason by far why I am not looking forward to its release at all.
Bro dismisses battle passes, free premium decks with each battle pass, 8 free premium decks, and crafting, claiming that trading is more free to play. Wow, I never thought someone would think that trading 50 of the most recent booster packs for a single Arceus Vstar card is more free to play than getting the entire Arceus V and Vstar line for free from Battle Pass. At the time of this comment, a single normal Lugia VStar card costs 100 Lost Origin packs in the trading market in TCG online, whereas we get the entire Lugia line of 4 copies each of Lugia V and Vstar for free in TCG live. Tell me which one is better now 😂. I have no idea about the other card games you mentioned because I haven't played them, but what you said about trading in TCG online being more free to play than TCG live with battle passes and crafting is completely false.
@@zaz8098 Trading on TCG Online is more free to play friendly if you can figure out the system, I've only played the game for 1.5 years and I have a full playset of almost every non-special card (FA, SR, promo, etc.) from Black & White to Lost Origin through trading, and have a ton more resources saved up for Silver Tempest and special cards if I want. It would take literally more than 100 years of playing Live every day free-to-play, and I still wouldn't have that much. Not everyone can figure out trading, so I'm okay with removing it. But I'm not okay with removing it for the most unplayable free-to-play digital card game.
@@Artoo64 Judging from your comment, I can tell you haven't even tried TCG Live. I've been playing TCG online for 6 months and was always stuck in theme deck format because I didn't have the resources to build a premium deck. However, here in TCG Live, I literally received 8 free premium decks, which cover all of the items and supporter cards I require. and I even got Arceus V-Star Deck and Hisuian Zoroark Deck V-Star for free, which I was never able to get in TCG Online because it was too damn expensive to get in TCG Online. And it's been 2 weeks since I migrated my account to TCG Live, and I have enough credits to craft 6 Luigia Vstar Gold Secret Rare Cards. "It would literally take more than 100 years of playing Live every day for free to accumulate that much," he says. nice troll kiddo .
@@zaz8098 Because you never figured out trading. It took me 1 week to build my first deck and get out of theme in PTCGO. I'm able to consistently profit 50-100 packs every day, and it's especially easy at the beginning of the set. If a card costs 50 packs, I can get a full playset of them within 2 days. I don't need to try Live to know that I can't do this free to play in Live. There's no troll here, you get one pack every 3-4 days in Live, I can get 300 tradable packs on PTCGO in that same timeframe. Again, trading isn't for everyone, so I'm okay with removing it. But play any other trading card game, even the most predatory ones like Hearthstone and Magic Arena, and you will realize Pokemon Live's economy is far, far worse than those for free-to-play players.
@@Artoo64 A week? Yea right... Maybe if you are some kind of nerd who spends his lifitime in game. I started to play about week ago because of my son. After grinding 6 theme decks (with Searing Storm) , and loosing 12 tickets on 3 them tournaments (also with searing storm - bad draws) and the fact that i cant find any offers for cards from cheapest deck i want to assemble (solrock lunatone) im quite sure i will have to spend MONTHS to complete it. Thats why even though i like tcgo i will give a chance tcgl
TCG Live is just a massive let down for everyone that played PTCGO at least a few times And even for new players it's a mess and I'm not even talking about the app that is currently not even working properly to boot, battle or even just react as player want... 😑
Went to try out TCG live and merged my cards and now I can't get back into my tcg online account, so pissed. Tcg live has some cool new features but the set up is super whack and almost seems like a knock off version of the original. Not being able to put it into landscape mode is a huge downfall in my opinion.
They got you too, huh? haha I didn't read the migration rules either, pretty dumb of them to make players pick and choose between the two. I miss my old expanded deck :(
Am i wrong, i think you get only 5 cards from one code in Tcg live..? Did i miss something ? I used the QR code from the code card. I saw the openings from ptcgo and there are 10 cards
It takes over 5 minutes for PTCGO to start on my 9 year old laptop with a hard drive. Often 8 minutes. I don't even want to know how long it would take for Pokemon TCG Live to start on my laptop.
Sooo, what IF i had a account on PTCGO back in the day (3 years ago or such) and now i want do start again with pokemon tcg? is my account from TCGO completely vanished?
Hey, I’m a mobile user of TCG live and have noticed that there is a view deck option. Is this something that was added after this video was released or was it only ever available for mobile users?
(sry for the english) i still can't play tcg live because there so many bug i can't even pull card from my deck or shit like that what can i do to get my game work ?
I just came back and migrated to PTCG Live, it is an absolut garbage...I've deleted the game and i'll never look back, i will miss PTCGO for sure because i really loved that game.
Ok here is what I was thinking. Is it smart if I redeemed my packs in TCG Online because they have 10 cards in the packs and THEN I migrate to TCG Live (because TCG Live has only 5 cards in the packs)
Yeah I think I might have messed up on my account. Cuz what I did was I just (or so I thought) had transferred all of my account from PTCGO to PTCG LIVE. That didn't happen. So when I downloaded the PTCGO, I logged in and it said that my account has already been migrated. Am I SOL on that, Or is there a way that I migrate back to get all of my cards that I had and transfer them to PTCGO Live?
Ok, watching the video I already found 1 thing in PTCGO is better than TCG Live, and that is the button to show the mat while you're using a card to search for something, TCG Live is bad in this regard, sometimes we just want to make sure what is on the mat or in my hands before choosing the correct card, and a wrong card by mistake is the last thing player want.
Why does 25th anniversary packs give more credits than a regular standard pack? I recently saved up packs for migration for crystals but want to make sure I am getting the max amount for my bux so to speak.
I want to try PTCGL, but I live in Japan, and cant seem to DL it without getting a VPN. I have played PTCGO for 6-7 years from Japan with no trouble. Im also a little scared of migrating my account, because I have alot of money and effort put into my PTCGO account.
The one thing I don't like I about the game is that you cant fight with ai players and move to the next round your forced to deal with better players and you have no chance at winning which sucks
I would still be playing O but for some reason, some day it stopped working, wouldn't uninstall, and even after fully deleting everything and reinstalling the game it wouldn't work. Then I tried installing it on a brand new PC. Still nothing. Oh well.
@@TrustYourPilotTCG i think it is a issue on the phone app, still can’t find the cards. I will try it out on the pc tomorrow. Thank you very much for helping me.
I been trying to look this up but cant find any answers. PTCGO has Trainer Gallery cards, but Live doesn't. What happens to my Trainer Gallery cards when you Merge? Do you lose them or get converted to other Rarity of the card?
@@TrustYourPilotTCG okay I see that now. Weird because when I was coping deck list over from PTCGO over to live it wouldn't copy over the decklist due to couldn't find my Trainer Gallery Cards. Just wanted to make that when I do Merge my accounts in the future I don't lose those cards.
It was likely because the Trainer Gallery cards have a different set name / set number. Replacing cards in a deck list on Live can be tedious, that's for sure.
You can play against that AI in PTCGL using the Test Deck feature, but they'll always play horribly and try to deck themselves out. Otherwise it's just PvP.
I Agree "live" should have been equal to or better then "online" base off all the statistics from their passed game but they took a perfectly good game and ruined it. the pokemon games you start out with a starter pokemon "online" took that concept, but "live" has taken that concept and spat all over it. giving tournament grade decks to new players. as iv seen going by the concept "if we have this powerful deck. Why should we try to build our own or look in to more types of decks"
TCG Live is a major downgrade. I’ve been trying to play it recently and I have come to a point where I just don’t want to even try now. It’s a shame because I played the other one soooooo much and loved it
Up to 4 copies of most cards you own will transfer over to Live when you migrate. You can choose DON'T MIGRATE and be able to play both games at the same time - ruclips.net/video/9tsFbSJDywo/видео.html
Also what happens to all of our decks build decks in ptcgo do they not transfer to live cuz I really don't feel like building all of them again cuz it can be hard to remember every single card depending on how many Decks we build
Damn I picked a weird time to learn pokemon online

Finally downloaded it for the free decks... wow, Live is straight garbage. Worse in every way from the old game I still play. And the graphics are hilariously bad on my iPad, even though they are perfectly fine in Online.
There’s no question, Live is a clear example of total incompetence of management and design.
I tried to log into PTCGO the other day and realized it was sunset. Then I got PTCGL and realized what a piece of shit it is....
Adding crafting to PTCGO would have saved The Pokemon Company so much money and so many headaches.
Personally like online better but I’m bias having only played live for about a week now… I’m not migrating any time soon
I do like how I can play live on my phone tho that’s the only benefit…
Well they’ve made big steps , started playing in February TCGL and I’ve built god knows how many decks, mind you I do buy Pokémon cards regularly since then as well so the codes help but just finishing the season rewards and getting extra crafting coins after duplicates it’s a win. Easy to build
Really wish PTCGO was preserved (local server emulator) for playing against the AI. Sure, the AI wasn't the greatest, but the next newest Pokemon TCG game is a GBC game, so there's not exactly competition (the GBC games are awesome for sure, but after decades they do get kinda old).
1:47 my brother in Christ I think you missed the mark with that one 😭😂😅
9 months later I downloaded live and I was ready to try the game but I can't get pass the loading screen 😂
celebrations codes now worth a dollar 💀💀💀
I really hope PTCGPocket is good. I can't handle three shitty online Sims from Pokemon lol
I was looking for ptcgo but couldn’t find it just to found out it was replace with this. Like what even are these cards????
As a new player, what would you then recommend for me to download and play. I've got TCG experience but I've never tried Pokémon so I thought why not
I never knew PTCGL was a thing iv been playing TCGO my entire life since i was 5 damn time flies past
You still have at least a few more months of PTCGO!
@@TrustYourPilotTCG Im still gonna miss it 😭
The answer to this question is dead f*cking clear and the migration to TCGL is stupid, yet i must do it anyways
Remember folks, the toes are always important.
TCG Live is just a massive let down for everyone that played PTCGO at least a few times
And even for new players it's a mess and I'm not even talking about the app that is currently not even working properly to boot, battle or even just react as player want... 😑
im shocked that nintendo is letting this turd of a game sit in the toilet bowl.
Something small but would be lit if the background music can put battle songs from the games
I miss my old expanded deck :(
1:47 you did what to a dead horse
Helped it move on from this world😂
Enbigen is my new favorite word.
And here I thought I was the only one bothered by the toes.
Sooo, what IF i had a account on PTCGO back in the day (3 years ago or such) and now i want do start again with pokemon tcg? is my account from TCGO completely vanished?
You can use the same Trainer Club Account you used for PTCGO in Live.
Hey, I’m a mobile user of TCG live and have noticed that there is a view deck option. Is this something that was added after this video was released or was it only ever available for mobile users?
I just started the video and I'm already shocked. PTCGO has always opened so slowly, so to hear that Live is even slower... Yikes.
(sry for the english) i still can't play tcg live because there so many bug i can't even pull card from my deck or shit like that what can i do to get my game work ?
People who have wifi - tcgo is best
People like me - tcgl in good for me
😢
How do you get the game report screen at 21:06. My game just shows me an MVP Pokémon and it’s damage dealt.
There's options at the bottom left of the summary screen on PTCGO.
I just came back and migrated to PTCG Live, it is an absolut garbage...I've deleted the game and i'll never look back, i will miss PTCGO for sure because i really loved that game.
in 5 years it might be good
Shutting down PTCGO should be considered a war crime
So.. you’re supposed to beat* the dead horse. NOT beat off the dead horse.
Me when my phone can only run Live so I don't get a choice in options.
The chat system on PTGO was decent, made a few online friends on that... shame its not around anymore
Ok here is what I was thinking. Is it smart if I redeemed my packs in TCG Online because they have 10 cards in the packs and THEN I migrate to TCG Live (because TCG Live has only 5 cards in the packs)
It's better to open packs in Live and use packs in PTCGO to trade for 4 copies of cards - ruclips.net/video/9tsFbSJDywo/видео.html
What are you doing to that dead horse??? 💀
I really want to play PTCGL but it’s not in UAE
Btw love your vids❤❤❤
Just use a VPN, even a free one will work
The beta should be available worldwide later this month!
@@TrustYourPilotTCG Really! I’m excited to play

1:47 YOU’RE DOING WHAT
Yeah I think I might have messed up on my account.
I miss Tournaments but I could play on my phone now, instant win 😂
You do know PTCGO was also available on phone 😅. Like I literally only played PTCGO on my phone
Ptcg live haver me a chance to play meta without spending some dollars.
I Just want the full release already!
It's released as of today.
You can skip the tutorial
1:46 Um...pretty sure the saying is just "Beating a dead horse"...😄
Bring back pokemon PTCGO!
Why does 25th anniversary packs give more credits than a regular standard pack? I recently saved up packs for migration for crystals but want to make sure I am getting the max amount for my bux so to speak.
Celebrations cards are only rare or higher - ruclips.net/p/PL7aWMdyM6cCNR07bSxsUsTPIWei7NZHB7
has there been any new updates in live that fix the features that were lacking or missing?
My video tomorrow will answer that question.
Great video!
I want to try PTCGL, but I live in Japan, and cant seem to DL it without getting a VPN. I have played PTCGO for 6-7 years from Japan with no trouble. Im also a little scared of migrating my account, because I have alot of money and effort put into my PTCGO account.
Definitely don't migrate. Just play Live if you can or stay on PTCGO until it finally shuts down - ruclips.net/video/9tsFbSJDywo/видео.html
Oh well.
as of today surely both games had ther patches and for a complete beginner to start with a friend wich one is recommanded?
PTCGO is gone forever, so PTCGL is your only choice now - ruclips.net/p/PL7aWMdyM6cCNR07bSxsUsTPIWei7NZHB7
And the goddamn lack of landscape mode for ipad in Live. Wtf.
I was searching for couple kyurem cards, but the cards are not in the new game 😮. Wil they add those as wel?
You have to select ALL in Filters and cards you don't own / not valid in Standard will appear.
@@TrustYourPilotTCG i think it is a issue on the phone app, still can’t find the cards. I will try it out on the pc tomorrow. Thank you very much for helping me.
I cant play ptcgo bc says im logged in Pokémon live. I want to play ptcgo not live what can i do?
If you migrated to TCG Live, you can't go back to PTCGO.
@@TrustYourPilotTCG aaaaahh
I been trying to look this up but cant find any answers. PTCGO has Trainer Gallery cards, but Live doesn't. What happens to my Trainer Gallery cards when you Merge? Do you lose them or get converted to other Rarity of the card?
If you click on a card in Live then click Available, all the different arts for that card will appear, including Trainer Gallery cards.
Does poke tcg has a ai mode where you play against bots because I just got 2 redeem packs and I'm interested in playing it
You can play against that AI in PTCGL using the Test Deck feature, but they'll always play horribly and try to deck themselves out. Otherwise it's just PvP.
Live is so awful, I guess they had to do something to stop RWT. Online used to be so fun, such a shame, Live is pretty much unplayable...
Can you still download ptcgo? It looks like I can only download live
PTCGO went offline for good last year.
Direwolf should make their own version of ptcgo, if only...
Sadly tcgl cant be played in my country without vpn
PTCGO is still not available in asia?
TCG Live is a major downgrade. I’ve been trying to play it recently and I have come to a point where I just don’t want to even try now. It’s a shame because I played the other one soooooo much and loved it
You read my mind with that meme
LIVE is not what I was expecting :( im very disappointed
wait so are all my cards gunna get transfered over to live then when im forced to switch over??
Up to 4 copies of most cards you own will transfer over to Live when you migrate.
You can choose DON'T MIGRATE and be able to play both games at the same time - ruclips.net/video/9tsFbSJDywo/видео.html
I never played PTCGO before but the game looks good
Also what happens to all of our decks build decks in ptcgo do they not transfer to live cuz I really don't feel like building all of them again cuz it can be hard to remember every single card depending on how many Decks we build
You have to export the deck lists to a Word document, then copy and paste them into Live when you're in the game.
