The bass was sung by Lindsay Field, last man on John's right with white shirt & black vest. My fave song by John & his band. So much talent on one stage. From John's right to left: Lindsay Field, Jack Jones, David Hirschfelder, Steve Williams, Venetta Field, John Farnham, Chuck McKinney, Lisa Edwards, Angus Birchall, Wayne Nelson, & Phil Buckle. Great reaction Charlie. Knew you would love this one. Best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺
According to Wikipedia, Wayne Nelson is still alive??
@@FionaEm heart skipped a beat there after reading that, had not heard anything regarding Wayne passing.
@@FionaEm, sorry my mistake, was thinking of his daughter that passed away. Will edit.
Some of the lineup from Souther Sons listed in your comment.
If you like stevie wonder then you should react to Johns version of all in love is fair 👍🏻
Brilliant performer❤
At 4.13 Johns look of love and pride in his band and backup singers says it all . much love and Lindsay Fields singing bass
I met John And Stevie Wonder way back in about 1981 or 1982. Stevie was out here touring Australia and John was his opening act. I cannot tell you how awestruck I was, a young 20 year old nobody meeting these stars. I sat with John and a couple of other people for Hours just hanging out, talking about nothing and everything. He is the nicest, must humble, funny, sweet person you'll ever meet.
Stevie came down to the bar in the early morning and hung out for an hour or so. When I was introduced to him I was shaking but he was lovely. He took my hand as its way of feeling the emotions and vibe of the person he's talking to.
One of the best nights of my life and one Ill never forget.
LUCKY you!
Put this on the tv again Charlie your reactions give me all the feels. You could have heard a pin drop in the quiet bits at the concert
Just look at John taking in the wonderful voices of his friends around him ❤❤❤ He always has so much appreciation of the talents others. Such a generous heart. 💖
I was fortunate enough to see this live. Great reaction
The song sounds great Acapella, wouldn't matter what John sung , hey you've seen the telephone book I'm still sound great and still sing it with passion even though it's only a telephone book lol❤
Awesome version, but you wouldn't expect less from John and his band.
The bass singer is Lindsay Field. He is on the far left of the screen (John's far right) He is wearing a white shirt and dark vest with his hair in a man bun.
Cheers mate.
Thanks Charlie, you make my day with your joy in music.
Magic!!!
Monstrous, indeed! This guy is new to me - thank you, Charlie. Not many can do justice to Stevie Wonder, and this was excellent. Love his sense of humor as well, and that choir - superb! Bless up, everyone. Mahalo from Kauai.
The choir is made up of his three backing singers and the rest of his band, minus instruments. Very talented musicians!
There's plenty more of John to enjoy, and he is also incredibly versatile. I'm sure you'll be just as impressed anything else you watch - if you do, just make sure you always choose live performances, as that's where he really shines. Charlie has many great reactions to him to get you started.
John may not be that well-known around the world, but he's absolutely beloved in Australia, and we know without a doubt that he's one of the best male vocalists ever to have graced a stage.
@@Saan42 Thank you, I will.
Perfect. That's all I can say.
Imagine seeing that live Charlie. Just divine ❤
I saw this live & it was magical. I’ve been to many John Farnham concerts & was never once disappointed. John & his band put in 150% every time.
Love this performance of John and the band, so much talent. Lindsay has such a deep voice. Btw John is cancer free now and has been singing around his home. Just the best news 💙
If you want to hear John sing Stevie Wonder check out his live version of All In Love Is Fair. You're welcome.
John farnham is a music cameliont. He can master any genre to perfektion ❤
Oh Charlie, I freaking LOVE your reactions to John! Your sheer joy and passion for John and his performances is so inspiring and infectious! I was at this concert and your reactions bring back so many wonderful memories and the emotion of being there! Keep up your awesome work with all your reactions; you bring light into the world! 💚🇦🇺
This has made my day. Thanks Deb ❤️
Looks like John took you to Church!
It seems so effortless, I feel like there's something about the joy of singing with others that is fundamental to how humans are built.
I just love a Capella and John and his band absolutely killed it, that was amazing.
Thanks Charlie! I love this song and I love John Farnham singing it, with his awesome band as an acappella song.
😆👍🏼❤️🇦🇺 Charlie I frickin love your reactions to John. You’re like a kid in a candy store. 😊
Sometimes people mix up the names, it’s Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field. Lindsay is on the far left, the white guy with the shiny striped vest over white shirt. He’s the one singing bass.
I recall a story about JF being such a huge fan of Stevie Wonder, that when he toured Australia, John had tickets for each Capital City of Stevie's tour.
Then was requested as the opening act for said tour.
I attended the Sydney concert and before the show, with people milling about, waiting to gain entry, all I could hear was people saying oh no, we have to have to sit through Johnny Farnham, before the real concert begins.
The amazement at interval after John's performance, was palpable, "I had no idea just how incredible he was ", I smiled so broadly, knowing that people were waking up to what I had understood since I first heard him sing One, every one mimed there songs on television at the time, but it was a skill he couldn't master, when you saw John sing, that's exactly what he was doing.
We're a similar age and I have recognised his brilliance from the get go.
Charlie, without a doubt, you are my favourite reactor... especially to my man JF! Always a pleasure to catch you...and I do go back all the time to re-watch your reactions. You always make me happy. I love that you love my favourite singer❤
Ahh thank you Kathy that means the world. He's always just such a pleasure to listen to and watch x
Agreed! Charlie is a thoughtful, skilled reactor; no pretentions - just like John.
Thank you Margaret. You've both made my day ❤️
I love this reaction Charlie. John not only sings like a God he is so creative with his arrangements especially with the talent he surrounds himself with. ❤❤
Another great John Farnham reaction Charlie ❤
Brings back so many memories.. I have seen all of these concerts of John's. And seeing someone react to them all these years later is sooo crazy, it makes me feel so lucky and privileged to have experienced the absolute greatest entertainer of them all. God bless JF 😘😘😘
One of my favourite performances of johns (i was in the audience at the time, absolutely amazing)... everything is better when it's sung Acapella!!!!
Love this reaction ❤❤
Yes. Of course, John Farnham and his band can give Home Free a run for their money, in acapella. How is that even possible?
Most of them were all his band members who are fairly good singers themselves.
Hi Charlie! Thank you SO much for reacting to this one! I LOVE this one the way they have arranged it! FANTASTIC! Peace and Blessings to you and your family from Australia.
Well that's something you me and John have in common. I have loved Stevie Wonder since I first heard "Master Blaster" when I was 17 years old. He has been my favourite singer since then. John, I have liked most of my adult life but have only in recent years truly understood how very talented he is.
This is a great rendition of Stevies song. He has stayed fairly true to the original because, well, you don't mess with perfection.
John definitely has the vocal ability for this and the backing is amazing.
I'm in heaven listening to one of my favourite singers perform one of my favourite songs written by my all time favourite singer/ song writer. Thanks for a great reaction.
Have heard this before, but the power of those harmonies still brings a tear to my eye ❤
Bass was up the other end. I love this one. Thank you for reacting to it.
So glad you love John as much as we do! Your reactions to him make me smile so much.
It's sound heart-felt and kind of Gospely. Beautiful!!!❤
Chuck McKinny was brought out to Australia along with Marcia Hines for our production of Hair, and both stayed here.
Chuck did the best vocals for Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar I have ever heard, and so different to everyone elses.
Now those vocals are forgotton because Australia did another 2 full productions of Superstar afterwards........been awhile now, wont be long before we do another full on production of Superstar and Johns live Gethsemane will be forgotten ? lol
Coming up to Christmas, could you please react to John and his backup singers singing "You'll never walk alone " at the Christmas by candlelight.
John always gathered the best talent around him , If you havent heard it ,Amazing Grace with Venetta Fields and Lynsey Fields is a wonder work of harmony and tallent.
Lindsay Field (with the hair bun and waistcoat) on the other end sings the bass in this song. He is one of John Farnham's brilliant back-up singers and they are good friends. I LOVE a capella and this performance fills me with joy ! Do you know of the UK a capella group (now disbanded) named, 'The Flying Pickets' who are FANTASTIC ? If not, I'd love for you to do a reaction to them. This is a message (song) very much needed at this time regarding the wars between Ukraine and Russia, and Israel and Hamas. LOVE not hate and show it by your thoughts and ACTIONS. Let's express light, love and goodwill in the world.
This video dose this song no justice
Have you had your dose?
You and your comments must be in the background so viewers who haven't seen this video can appreciate the song the same as you
First of all, I'll be the one who dictates what must happen in my videos. And secondly, it's for good reason that I do it this way. If I don't then I am in breach of copyright law and my video doesn't fall under fair use. You are not supposed to get the same viewing and listening experience as the original, otherwise my video becomes a substitute for it and infringes the copyright. I then get my video demonetised, if not blocked all together
Lindsay Field singing bass. At the end on the left
At the 2:16 mark I grabbed the keyboard to type, "That took me back to Stevie with Take 6!" and then you mentioned them! Take 6 did the Oooohs instead of the lyrics (which brought so much more to it in this recording) but still A cappella is sooooo good! Love watching your reactions! 😄
No he didnt media blow up over his conviction ro our FNP if anything he axtually gained a heap of respect a conviction he also expressed when he was awarded Australian of th e year in 1988
Yes your right (good ear) It's Lindsay field who's singing the bass...
John sang John Lennon's IMAGINE with Ray Charles. And sung Granada that was made popular by Pavarotti. His collaboration with Human Nature is brilliant
Never saw this one of Farnsey’s before, was a complete treat.
This is just perfection
The bass is Lindsay Field. The one standing next to John, in the white shirt and black vest.
Sadly we will probably never hear John sing live again since his oral cancer surgery. A gift stolen from the world 😢
Probably not, but I did read an interview with his sons the other day - when asked if John would tour again or release new music, they said it wasn't for them to answer, but they thought that he would like to, and they also said he could definitely still sing, which is amazing news.
Lindsay Field is the bass singer
In Oz, we are so proud of our boy. xx
One word Beautiful ❤ thank you Charlie xxx
Great reaction 💥
Just listened to Stevie and Take 6 and enjoyed it too. John’s a capella version with additional singers makes it so smooth. But Take 6 are professional singers. These guys as set out in post below are the band. Guitarists, drummers, keyboards. The depth of talent in his musos is just ridiculous.
Also note at the end he bows to the band.
Let all johns vidoes run on as you did Mate
Sorry what do you mean?
Explain, please.
I think Narelle means, watch it all the way to the end, as a lot of times, just because song ends, John is classic John, chatting to the crowd and being himself.... That's what we love about him.
@@TheCharlieSmithChannel see Lisa’s comment thanks . Often there is a bit extra that people miss out on … 🌻
@@LisaS23Nthanks. I couldn’t reply until now 💐
Loved the reaction

No he didnt media blow up ov we his conviction to our FNP a conviction he also expressed in 1988 when he was awarded Australian of the year
That was about you not about the song we should hear what you're hearing so we can know where your coming from
Listen man, this just isn't your channel. Go and find someone else. You're the only one complaining 🤣🤣
If you don't want to watch a review then go and watch the original. It boggles my mind that you'd click on a video that someone made specifically to give their commentary, and then complain that they are doing so 🙄
Jean jacket?? Denim jacket??
Same thing, different term for different countries🤯
@@beckstewart8271 Odd to call it that though. Jeans are what you wear. Denim is what its made from.
It ain't that deep I promise you 🤣
@@TheCharlieSmithChannel Its like calling a leather jacket a 'leather pants jacket'.
Trust me, its deep. Soul deep!! 😜😆
Lost alot of fans lately
No. He hasn't.. They were never true fans!!
Explain, please.
@@barnowl. He likely means John Farnham, because he allowed You're the Voice to be used for the voice referendum yes campaign in Australia.
A lot of no voters threw tantrums about it. I saw quite a few absolutely disgusting comments from them on RUclips, and they seemed to have nothing better to do than search out videos to leave comments on, like this guy. Apparently not a fan anymore, but still, here he is commenting.
No he hasn't his conviction to the FNP.was the same in 1988 when he was awarded Australian of the year
Says who. Did someone take a poll. Don't think so.
