It’s one of the most beautiful renditions of Amazing Grace that has never been sung. John, Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field knocked it out of the park. its Phenomenal 🧐😊🇦🇺
My favourite part of this clip is watching Vanetta's expressions when John steps up from the shadows. She is clearly drinking up everything that John is doing. Her ears and spirit are savouring everything, exquisite in the moment mindfulness. Her face shows peace, awe and gratitude for being in such close proximity to "THE VOICE". Just sublime!
My favourite is when he sings fears relieved and her eyes go wide then she looks to the crowd like a proud mother with a that's my boy expression on her face. Priceless
She was instrumental. In training/ fine tuning him for his voice comeback She was very proud of that .. love Venetta . Proud to call her A friend a great woman fabulous sense of humour too 💜💜💜
You're an amazing reactor , the way you feel the music is the way music is meant to be felt. And John Farnham's music and messages in his music is meant to be felt down to your soul. Never apologise for a true reaction, that's why we are all here ❤️ never stop being you. 👍👍👍❤️🇦🇺
Lindsay Field is not only one of John's backup singers but also one of his best mates and an accomplished singer and musican in his own right. As for Ms Venetta Fields she has the voice of an angel and is now a successful vocal teacher in Australia.
Absolutely fabulous artist in his own right. And if anyone happens to live in Victoria, he does shows around town in a trio with two other Aussie legends. They're always so much fun to see live and insanely affordable given their talent.
@@lolly_6184 Not a trio, John Farnham was the "big name" and Venetta Fields and Lyndsey Field were his back up singers - all amazing. John has recently been battling cancer of the jaw (I think). They're all such lovely people.
The truth of John is how humble he is and how he has absolutely no issues sharing the stage with another performer….. letting their talents shine… his band and singers are his family…
Speaking of Lindsay, it reminds me of John's humour when during a concert and a performance of 'Every Time you Cry', Lindsay hit one of his customary 'very low' (he can sing very low) notes at the very end of the song during the word 'cry'. John during his normal band member acknowledgement at the end of the song says 'Lindsay Field on bass balls'! Always the larrikin. You can also see the genuine love and respect between the three of them. The look in Venetta's eyes when John hits that big note on 'relieved' is almost like that of a proud mother thinking 'that's my boy'. Such a beautiful performance. Plus notice how John stayed out of the spotlight whilst they were applauding Venetta and didn't walk up until she offered her arm? The mark of the man who always let's his band members have 'their' moment. It's not always about him like some artists.
And as you can see, John has the very best for backup singers. Vanetta and Lindsay here, and Lisa Edwards for Angels, which you have reacted to. His band is the best and they have been around for decades, which just goes to show what a special person John is.
You know what makes me cry? It’s seeing other people “get”something that we have known for many years and are so proud of. I am crying because you are crying over something I have cried over many times before. LOL. 😅
So amazing. I remember hearing this live at the Whispering Jack concert. There wasn't a dry eye amongst the thousands of people there. I'll never forget the feelings that ran through my body when I first heard it, and it still has just as a profound effect on me when I hear it today. I just love the way John's voice soars with those high notes.
Venetta was an Ikette from 1961 to 1965 and also sang back up for the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond. She's also one of the 'Oreos' in a Star in born. She's fabulous.
Of the millions of amazing renditions of Amazing Grace out there..growing up in Oz knowing this version existed I always naturally compared all other renditions to this. Hands down THE GREATEST rendition of Amazing Grace EVER.
This is possibly my favourite performance of John Farnham's. Venetta Fields is phenomenal, and John always gave her so much credit and appreciation on stage. She was a household name here in 🇦🇺 as much as John has been! The three of them standing so far back from the microphone, and the way their voices carry..... no words.
Little known fact that Venetta was one of the original "Ikettes", the backup singers for Ike and Tina Turner. She has also performed with Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger, the Rolling Stones, Bette Midler, Joe Cocker and Bob Dylan. She toured Australia with Boz in 1980 and relocated here in 1982. As well as Farnsey she has also performed with Barnsey of Cold Chisel.
Never gets old ❤ Venetta Fields was an original ikette with Tina and Ike. Amazing voice. And this is so powerful. You want another similar clip, checkout John's rendition of Mary's boy child. He has 2 amazing songs in one clip.
This one is stunning, sung at a Carol's by Candlelight event. Mary's Boy Child and You'll Never Walk Alone. John's backup singers are with him for this. You will love this one!!
The other guy is Lindsay Field. One of John's regular backing singers in the 80's and 90's. Note that it's Vanetta Fields (with an 's') and Lindsay Field (without an 's'). Similar names but unrelated. Both extremely talented.
Venetta Fields is an often overlooked master of her craft. Absolutely gorgeous rendition and I admit the first time I heard this I had the same response as you.
Love you too, Charlie. This was amazing. Venetta has a breathtaking voice, and when Lindsay joined, the harmonies were stunning. You can tell they had been singing together for ages and they loved every minute.
Hi Charlie Thank you for your pure honest reaction. It is beautiful and refreshing to see and hear. Your admiration and appreciation of talent is worn on your sleeve and I for one love it. ❤
Lived in Aus for 40 years and went to two concerts to listen to Johnny Farnham and his two brilliant backing vocalists. The Amazing Grace renditions always had me in tears! Johnny never got as much global fame as his voice deserved but Aussies love him, he is a truly humble, down to Earth, friendly man. Would talk to you as if he's always known you, a very special Aussie :)
How beautiful was that? I love gospel music. That guy is Lindsay Field. He, along with Vanetta Fields and Lisa Edwards have been his backup singers for so, so long. They are mesmerising ❤❤❤ Loved your reaction, you really feel the music ❤
Every now and then I tune into your channel. When I do I am never disappointed with the music/song content and the honest reactions that you deliver with integrity and respect. You're a good bloke. Cheers and thank you
I’ve watched that clip sooooo many times and I have tears absolutely streaming down my face every time. Growing up in Australia in the 80s meant for me, that this was the first version of this song I ever heard. It’s still my favourite. It’s in a class of its own.
Thank you so much for this reaction. I’ve been commenting on multiple channels for them to do this, my favorite version of this gospel classic. John standing about 3-4 feet from the mic and his voice just resonates and so pronounced. Awesome content.
The other guy is Lindsay Field (no relation), his other backing vox/acoustic guitarist for years (It was Lindsay, Venetta and the talented Lisa Williams).. Venetta Fields, who is American, was a backing vocalist for touring American and British rock and pop acts of the 1960s and 1970s, as well as working as a session recording vocalist. She worked with artists including Ike & Tina Turner, Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Elkie Brooks, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger, the Rolling Stones, Quincy Jones, Tim Buckley, Joe Walsh, Joe Cocker, Neil Diamond, Leonard Cohen and Burt Bacharach. She recorded or toured as a backing singer for Australian artists Richard Clapton, Australian Crawl, Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes, James Morrison and John Farnham. She was an "Ikette" with Ike and Tina Turner, and sang backing vox on Exile In Main Street, Sympathy For The Devil and Wish You Were Here, to name a few.. In 2002, Fields received the Australian Gospel Singer of the Year award. In recognition of her achievements, Fields was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame on September 29, 2005. I met her once, backstage at a huge event (last Adelaide Grand Prix) and had a lovely chat with her for a few minutes and told her how wonderful she was. She was very gracious and just beautiful. This gives me shivers/goosebumps from the first line.. That was one of the most beautiful and honest reactions Ive ever seen.. Man hugs to you Brother, Im glad you are getting to enjoy this music you have never heard.. Hi all the way from Adelaide, South Australia (where Johnny Farhnam had his first manager/gigs when he was 16/17, in the 60s)
Lindsay Field is the other singer. Both Venetta and Lindsay are John's Backup singers. He surrounds himself with the best. Venetta has an amazing career in her own right.
I've watched this performance many times Charlie, always gets me in the feels , but seeing your reaction took me to a whole other level , thank you so much!
That is so beautiful. The guy in white is Lindsay Fields. Both of these & Lisa Edwards were John backing singers through out the 80's. That song 🎵 sounds amazing there but to be at his concert & see them do this live makes every hair in your body stand up. Truely moving.
Phenomenal, best version of Amazing Grace ever. Beautiful reaction Charlie. We all get emotional with this one, I couldn't tell you how many people I've seen tear up watching this. Vanetta and Lindsay have got to be the best backup singers on the planet, and you can see how close the three of them are, like family.❤
It’s an absolute testament to John and the beautiful person he is just by the way his band and backing singers have stood by him and stayed with him for so long and in many cases decades.
The other guy was Lindsey Field. Venetta and Lindsey were backers for John for years and helped make him a success. For that he's never forgot them. Venetta started out in Motown backing for the likes of the Supremes and Amazing Grace was always her crowd warmer. John being the humble man would happily sing along. Lindsey is an accomplished singer in his own right as is Lisa Edwards (another of Johns long time backers). They are effectively family to john, as are the entire band. They are part of the foundation that gave us John the legend.
It is an incredibly emotive song. They got this spot on. John didn't even lead this. It was driven and carried by Venetta. So glad you were able to feel what you felt here.
As someone who has zero need to be affiliated with any of the godsquads, I can truly appreciate when beautiful voices, combine with beautiful people carried along with beautifully simple music come together and touch my inner self with love and, for a few minutes at least, peace
Same! I'm an atheist and simply acknowledge that the ideas of religion and spirituality are used as inspiration for the tangible human expression of beauty within religious music, architecture, literature etc. Another favourite song of mine is this song from U2's documentary sung with a gospel choir... ruclips.net/video/M8Wt3dhF4fU/видео.htmlsi=2L_O35Ysdt-J_p4q
I’m not religious at all, but I don’t think you need to be, to be able to appreciate 3 people with amazing voices, rejoicing in their song like that. Well those three singing anything is incredible 😊
THANK YOU CHARLIE Thank you for playing it non stop Thank you for showing your complete reaction Thank you for your afterthought Thank you for being our Farnsy Superfan too! CHOOKAS! 'Red-in💙'
I am lucky enough to have this song on a charity Christmas Album that was recorded for the Salvation Army. Gets played every year. You might also enjoy John singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" at Carols By Candlelight
Lindsay Field has been with John as a back up vocalist since the start, his right hand man as John would say. Venetta another back up for John along with Lisa Edwards beautiful voices on their own so he has three of the best. But as I say so many times this is why in my opinion John is the very best there is he can sing anything from rock to pop, soul to jazz, gospel to opera. Then stage presence interaction with the crowd, giving his very best to his fans, putting the right emotion into the song he's singing, the mic stand stuff and of course the comedy side of John. But the best quality of him is the nature of the guy he doesn't think he is better than anyone else just a down to earth, fun, loving all round great person that loves to perform on stage in front of his people giving them the time of their lives. Also we can't forget the band that John so often reminds us about like he has said they make him sound good, even though 'the voice' can sound awesome by himself. But yes the people behind the instruments are amazing and John has the best there as well. We all know John is one of those who has kept his voice right up into his 70's which isn't all that common but what is extra amazing about him is he still has the powerful voice he had in the younger years where he will pull the mic away. It still gets to me when the mic is at his waist and still his voice comes through clear and he even yells on pitch, simply the greatest. Another thing I wanted to mention is about you Charlie, you are not afraid to show emotion on camera and that I applaud you for. We know John Farnham is the best at showing emotion when he sings and still I find a tear running down my cheek so thank you for letting John draw you in with the way he sings with so much passion then letting it show on camera.
Who’s that guy? That’s Lindsay Field. He was a member of John Farnham’s backing troupe for many years. I had the very great pleasure of meeting Lindsay when he was the entertainment at a corporate event in about 2014. He came around the back of the bar where I was working after his gig, looking for a low key drink. Me being in my late 40s at the time, I instantly recognised him, as I’ve always been a big Farnham fan. We chatted for about 20 minutes over a glass of red (I opened one of the ‘good’ bottles for him). We spoke about his musical journey including his time with John. He is an amazing singer (obviously), handy with a guitar, and a genuinely nice guy. Incidentally, I was lucky enough to see John in 1986 in concert just as he launched his big comeback. It was a small gig in a nightclub in Ballarat Australia with about 300 people in the audience. Both very memorable events, for different reasons.
Venetta Fields has a brother named Lee Fields who is also a singer: Venetta Fields A singer who has performed on records by artists such as Diana Ross, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones. She also sang backup for John Farnham.
I freaking love you too Charlie! I’m so pleased that you finally got to react to this performance and I knew it would get you right in your soul. I love how raw and honest your reaction was; truly beautiful! Take care mate! 💚 🇦🇺
I get shivers every time I listen to this. Not only is is sublime listening, it also brings back the memories and feelings I had when I saw John perform Live. And lucky for me, it is most of the concerts that you keep reacting to.
He was so nervous doing this performance because of the love, admiration and respect he has for his band with vanetta fields, Lindsay field and lisa Edwards. John's band is family to him. He doesn't perform without them ❤
Other guy is Lindsay Field who has been Johns male back up singer and accoustic guitar player for over 30 years. Both Venetta and Lindsay and also Lisa Edwards voices all blend so perfectly with Johns and enrich the overall vocals with baritone lows from lindsay and mezzo sopranos highs from Venetta and Lisa to create the most beautiful harmonies behind Johns lead vocals
Ohhh...a stunningly beautiful reaction Charlie, love how you so openly express your emotions. You and many others have shown me how special our John Farnham is. I'm ashamed to say, like many, I took him for granted growing up here in Australia, now I understand and truely appreciate John's true gift and talent. Heartfelt thanks Charlie for your talent in explaining and expressing a singer's abilities through your reactions . Love your channel.
Our Vanetta has sung with everyone. Humble pie black coffee, there she is doing backing vocals.she started as an Ikette with Aiken and Tina turner. She’s sung with Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones etc etc and that was before she came to Australia
Thank you for showing your honesty in a very profound way. Music has the ability to awaken and let's us release our emotions. When you feel the tightening of your throat, the need to release those tears is at hand. Never be afraid of showing emotion, it's what give life , value.
You’re awesome Charlie and you are SO right! To hear John Farnham & crew sing this stunning version of this timeless classic, Amazing Grace, is incredibly special. Loved your honest, heartfelt reaction Charlie and God bless you mate 🙏🏻👍🏻👏👏
Wonderful Request!!!! Thank you so much for helping the world hear the special talent that is John Farnham !!! What a track and what a Great reaction Charlie!!! ✌✌✌
Charlie I love your feeling and emotions to these wounderful prefomers who really know their god given voices and shear it with us. Thank you and bless all 🙏🙏🙏🙏
We get it Charlie, we really do. Every time I watch this it makes me cry. I remember watching the concert on TV, setting up the cassette recorder and recording it and this song always, always was repeated. I think it introduced a lot of Australian to gospel singing at the time and it was certainly a treat and well requested at every concert of his I attended over the years.
As John once lovingly said about Venetta...."You can hear her from bloody MILES away."
😂
That's john alright 😂
Ha! Great description.
It’s one of the most beautiful renditions of Amazing Grace that has never been sung. John, Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field knocked it out of the park. its Phenomenal 🧐😊🇦🇺
It is probably the best, and as an Aussie myself, I can definitely say that. However my favourite is Dan Vasc's version, a heavy metal singer.
Love your reactions mate, welcome to Aussie land 👍👍👍
Tears. When Vanetta harmonises with John.... perfection.
Charlie, Venetta & Lindsay are two of John's backing singers. Along with Lisa Edwards, they are truly the best.
These are John's Backup singers.. Deserving of such praise!
Priceless
And the tenderness in the look he gives her, the respect in the look he gives Lindsay, so wonderful to see.
Beautiful words.
She was instrumental. In training/ fine tuning him for his voice comeback
She was very proud of that .. love Venetta . Proud to call her A friend a great woman fabulous sense of humour too 💜💜💜

Once you go past hearing music, you feel it and from there it takes you into another realm. Great reaction :)
John surrounded himself with fabulous Aussie singers, world class entertainment. Go John!
It is a beautiful version of this song. And when John sings the song. It is so powerful and with feeling. The song makes me cry.
It's ok Charlie, I have tears everytime I hear this rendition as well. They have voices from the heavens above. ❤️

I am lucky enough to have this song on a charity Christmas Album that was recorded for the Salvation Army. Gets played every year.

Yes. That one is awesome
How beautiful! The other incredible singer was a gentleman called Lindsay Field. Lindsay was one of Johns backup singers
The other guy is Lindsay Field, one of John's backup singers. A beautiful rendition.
Venetta Fields has a brother named Lee Fields who is also a singer:
Venetta Fields
A singer who has performed on records by artists such as Diana Ross, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones. She also sang backup for John Farnham.
I loved it too💖 but I love it EVERY TIME I hear it
John is such a talented performer who surrounded himself with other talented performers.
she taught the 2 boys well
I needed to see/hear this reaction again today Charlie! It’s the gift that keeps on giving to me. Thanks as always Charlie! 💚🇦🇺
You are so welcome ☺️☺️
When only the best will do.
Tears.. We sang this to my grandfather as he lay dying. At the end he said he was ready now and passed away.
I freaking love you too Charlie! I’m so pleased that you finally got to react to this performance and I knew it would get you right in your soul. I love how raw and honest your reaction was; truly beautiful! Take care mate! 💚 🇦🇺
Simply beautiful!
Beautiful song, beautiful Singers, beautiful reaction Charlie ❤️😊🇦🇺 Wow is right.😁👍🏼 We love you too mate.
I think so many of us did, we were so lucky to have such incredibly talented artists when we were young that we didn’t know any different.
Our Vanetta has sung with everyone. Humble pie black coffee, there she is doing backing vocals.she started as an Ikette with Aiken and Tina turner. She’s sung with Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones etc etc and that was before she came to Australia
I’ve been waiting for this one!
Me too!
Thank you for showing your honesty in a very profound way. Music has the ability to awaken and let's us release our emotions. When you feel the tightening of your throat, the need to release those tears is at hand. Never be afraid of showing emotion, it's what give life , value.
Three of the most talented Aussies, yet three of the most humble.
third person is Lindsay Field. One of John's back up singers for many years along with Vanetta and Lisa Edwards - powerhouses!

Love you Charlie!!! Great reaction to an amazing rendition of my favourite gospel hymn! Makes me tear up every time 😊❤🙌🏻
That guy, as you called him, is Lindsay Field.
