  • This week we had the bright idea of checking out another Milwaukee lighting option, the new M12 ROVER Service & Repair Flood Light. There have been some nice work lights coming out the last few years from the Big Red M, and another is certainly welcome. This iteration is 12V, 700 lumens at high setting and 250 at low, is advertised as having an 8-hour runtime on high (24 on low) and rated to withstand a 9-foot drop. It's also got USB charging (2.1 amp port) and a magnetized back plate. Let's check it out in the shop, see how it performs, and find out if it's worth your money.

Thanks for providing this content. You've probably already been told this, but your voice sounds exactly like the comedian Brian Regan.

Pretty cool tool @ $59. Perfect for people with M12 line of tools. Personally, my absolute favorite is the Milwaukee Carabiner Light or M18 1500 Lumens Flood Light. Good thing i'm still young and have plenty of time to enjoy these Milwaukee Lights while Camping, Hiking, Fishing, Backpacking, working in the backyard or just scaring away Vampires.

You can use any battery you wish from the 1.5ah to the 6.0 ah. All that will be impacted is your run time. The light will not overheat it has adequate heat sinks built in to dissipate the heat from running 100 percent of the time. This light would be much better than a corded light for what your talking about. Get one and give it a go if the 4.0 gets you the runtime you need go with that. If that doesn't workout and you need a longer run time try the 6.0. Either way have fun.

I think the magnet has a good amount of strength to it. One thing I did not mention on the video was the rubber over-moulding is flush with the magnet so that should help the light stay in place also.

Dont understand a light review where there is no actual testing in the dark. More time spent testing the usb charger side than the light

I honestly had a hard time coming up with a way of testing that wasn't subjective. What a camera can see in the dark and what the human eye can pick up in the dark are two vastly different things. I did not have any comparable lights at the time to compare light meter readings at a specific distance to so I did the best with what I had. I have since got a few other examples of lighting, and I would like to try and compare the various types. When I get to that video, it may be more what you are looking for. Sorry, I tried to test things as fair as I could with what I had available.
