You got that right, just like all those who walked before me. There is not a single old man here that can walk straight or has or is waiting for back surgery. No wood and we cannot live this way and really do not want to return to the south no matter the price. Thank you for you concern though I appreciate it.
Great to see you getting out again! I'm looking forward to the bandsaw action too! I love watching you turn the raw trees into usable timber... or, for our US friends, lumber!! Has the big snow arrived yet? Does that mean you have to walk the trails again before you can take that beast across them? Stay safe! Say hi to Sarah and Kasper! I think it's time he gets new playthings before the spring arrives!😁😁
Hi AJ, I have to wait for the temps to rise before using the sawmill, saves the blades snapping! I no longer have to walk the trails it is only the first time in deep snow. I would no have to walk them at all if I get them in on the first snow. I have just come in for more coffee having already been plowing. I think most of the day will be plowing now. Amazingly he has not lost any balls this winter, normally we are scraping around for them but if he goes out with one I make him find it before he can come in LOL. Take care my friend and enjoy your weekend.
Howdy Simon- those trees seem to have as many limbs as the red cedar here. Did some logging last week harvesting red cedar for the posts on the sawmill shed that I haven’t gotten built yet because of the constant rain. Anyway, I sure enjoyed the video, especially watching the fire burn. You are so right about having some skill with a chainsaw doing what you were doing cutting up the logs. Doesn’t take much to pinch a bar and have a kickback. People have been bad hurt that way. Take care my friend and God bless
Hi Paul, There you go again with your red cedar, I can smell it. The rain is one thing I do not miss, we don't get much rain here which means much less sharpening of the chainsaw and sawmill blades. I thought the fire and snow would be a good subject to film. I have just been out with Kasper and the fresh snow is down and still coming so will be a good day for us and now I wish you and great weekend.
Nice to see the Viking hauling a load with ease. Enjoy the snow Simon, it’s now raining here in Maine. Then it freezes up and I go haul with my Viking. Had the coolant temp light come on after a couple miles of pulling last night at maybe 6mph over ice. Stopped and watched the stars for awhile then she was fine. We need more snow not rain. All the best Simon!
I must admit, if it is warm 27F or above and I am hauling a good load over distance mine will overheat. I am assuming you have put studs in if you are on Ice. I don't have studs in and if the tracks get iced it is just a nightmare. Not that would normally ice but this winter is different and whilst I am waiting for the next 24hrs of snow to land the tracks were starting to ice up. Well have fun and take care out there.
@@arctic-rebel No studs on mine either. It’s all snow that’s been rained on then frozen around here. Good solid base but a frozen mess on top. It was about 35f outside when I overheated. Glad to know I’m not alone.
Holy smokes Simon I almost jumped out of my recliner looked like those tree tops were coming thru my TV screen ha ha another great logging video you take care and be safe from Eric in tinkerville NH
@@arctic-rebel 25 degrees F here this morning and lots of sun, was in hospital all night, daughter had a baby boy, that's good he can hopefully grow up to help grandpa with managing the forest. Take care.
Glad your winter will continue to hang around so you can get your wood put up for the coming winter. Temps are all over here, I suppose we'll have an early spring. I'm working on securing a cleanup on a finished logging job here, perhaps two woods that were just logged. If I do I probably will pull the trigger on a small top handle saw on the jungle store. Many friends have bought them and have had success. It's like cutting wood with a machete compared to a big logging saw. My back sure would appreciate that. I also have an old barn cleanup coming this spring. I will be keeping the barn wood and beams for projects here on the farm. The pocket knife saw would come in handy there also. You'll be getting up soon and enjoying your coffee. Have a blessed Saturday my friend and as always be safe and don't forget to hit the record button. I've been meaning to ask...are you able to buy you a coffee with paypal or do you have paypal? Thanks and we'll see you down the road....... Hello Sara 👋
As I write this it is indeed morning and i have my coffee, just came in from exploring the depth of our overnight snow as forecast. The old barn clean up sounds exciting, I built a house 20 years ago and used some old ship beams inside it was always a pleasure to look at and wonder what they had seen. Get the saw, what could possibly go wrong and free building materials are just great. Paypal is coming soon, several friends have asked and I will set it up. Be safe and have a great weekend. Thank you.
Hi Matthew, I cannot speak for this huge male moose but in previous years with much deeper snow 100% yes they came for the tree tops. 3 or 4 winters ago I have a young female moose who would get real close to me whilst cutting and she was just wait for the fresh tree tops. She was not bothered by the chainsaw and would be where I was cutting most days. Have a great weekend and thank you.
Hi Dave, I have built a separate log crane sled for the really big tree's. It has a crane and I can tow it to where I am picking up the large logs and pick one end up at a time but I am not into the big stuff yet.
What a fire Simon…..and a superb setting! Loved it. Thank you ❤️ to the 3 of you. ❤️🇦🇺🇸🇪
Glad you enjoyed it, I sat there and have coffee, also warmed me toes. Thanks Anne, take care.
🤠👍 You are gambling with Luck, and your back. Take care.

Thanks Simon, great job logging, winter is back here also. Take care buddy.
Great news Mark, you should be able to get on with out all that mud.

I wonder if the moose is drawn to the area to nibble on the conifer buds you've brought down?

Why don’t you have a hand crank swivel pole to lift and haul your logs to your buggy?
