You have great energy. I appreciate what you're doing. As a non-religious person the subtleness is cool. I know what you stand for but you aren't pushing anything. Just living and sharing. Thanks for the videos, positivity, giving people their props, etc. digging this content!!
Dude this is an awesome comment thank you for sharing. I do love me some Jesus but I’m also aware that not everyone wants it shoved in their face lol. Just trying to stay true to what’s gotten me through life’s darkest moments… the good Lord and a little bit of BBQ sprinkled on top 😅. Cheers bro 🍻
I’m from the city but love country life from one Brotha to another peace and blessings to you fam 🙏🏿
Appreciate the support my brother- I def enjoy our country life… but CITY BOYS STAND UP!!! ✊🏾
Good job guys. I like the video it will help a lot of people out there that are building a smoker. Keep up the good work i liked and comment and subscribed. Take care and stay safe.
Truly appreciate the support here. I’m no pro by any means but I figured sharing the journey would help a handful of folks preparing to build their smoker. Thanks again for the comment and support!
I have a smoker but I don’t think it working efficiently. Can I send you some pictures of it do you have an email address?
Heck yea send me the pics on Instagram if you can bigfrizz99
You’re bad mamma JAMA is actually called a wraparound you can find about welding stores near you pipefitters use them. There are other ways to find centers by using squares together.
There we go! Funny not a single hardware store had one of these near me. Not even Homedepot, Menards, Lowe’s, etc. 🤦♂️
Love the shirt! I built my own 30ft pit like you did. Mine has some defects as well, but I couldn't afford to have it professionally built. I built mine off the ground as well bc I don't have a shop. Looks good brother! Jesus Rocks!
DIY gang in the house!! Love it! And love me some JC 🙌🏽
Great video and very detailed info. 👌
Appreciate you fam!
Badass looking set up you got coming along there. I'm fixing to hopefully pick up a propane tank here soon to upgrade to a 250g from my 94g.
Thanks for the support!! Not too shabby for an amateur like myself haha 😂
You’re going to love that 250 gallon!!
Dudes not a bad stick welder, arguable the hardest ways to weld, with the variety of welder types these days. Good stuff guys.
Thanks for the support brother. Yea Mike is a professional welder, been doing it for many decades. I couldn’t have finished this project without him- shoot at one point in time he was welding the firebox upside down haha he’s a legend 🇺🇸
Repeatable. haha. Man you are saving me lots of time. You went over things not a soul on RUclips BBQ'ers have not! Great work!
Haha I’m grammatically challenged fam 😂 that was the goal brother to drop all the info nobody else is… my hope is to add some unique value to the bbq community. I really appreciate this comment and your support!
@@MeatNGreetBBQ you bet brother. I’ll be watchin.
broooo, a 2 piece smoke stack is a great idea. I had to use a canopy tent to help keep my long ass smoke stack stay up right lol
Love to see you made your own cuts! The project makes it feel more personal and you can definitely say “Wow, I did that!” after it is all finished!
Thanks big dog! 👊
Good use of PPE when grinding… but where is the guard on the grinder.
I like your information. You’re definitely well informed on how to.
Thanks boss! No guard lived on the edge pretty much the whole time 😅
Awesome video! I’m in the process of building a 250 gallon offset and I’m at the collector build now. Did you think about going with a hinged smoke stack? Also are you going with skids, wheels or trailer mounted to move it around?
Thanks for the support family! I did think about hinging the stack there for a little bit but honest decided not to just due to being dog tired of chasing down materials and I was on a time crunch with the build so had to prioritize some things over other ya know? And we rolled with skids then set on a trailer. I didn’t want to do anything permanent so I decided on trailering the smoker.
Is that a farm? House? Looks like a great bbq spot. Nice vid again, keep 'em comin'!
Haha a little bit of all of the above. House, lake, barn, donkeys, cows… and of course the beastly 500 gallon smoker. Thanks for the support brother as always 🙏😭
I enjoy smoking with my pellet smoker - but I’m so glad RUclips showed me your video. Great job adding the smokestack. The video made me really appreciate all that goes into making an offset smoker!
Well this comment means a lot! Definitely a lot of work that went into it so I appreciate the support family. P.s not wrong with a little pellet action 😉
Dope shirt! God bless you for your boldness bro! Smoker is coming along nicely
Thanks brother! God is good 🙏🙏
There are calculators online to calculate the size the smoke stack should be based on the size of the cooking chamber and firebox. An 18 foot smoke stack means nothing. Cheers!!
If you’re referencing feldons calculator, then I’m sure you know how brutally OFF that calculations is. Secondly, not quite sure what you mean by “an 18 foot smokestack means nothing” … because smokestack height means everything! Lastly, calculators and opinions (yours and mine) aside. I directly contacted 2 of the largest pit builders out of Texas who provided me their exact smokestack measurements, I also spoke with a former employee of Aaron Franklin who gave me the “rough” height of franklins 500 gallon pits, and last but not least I crossed that with the smokestack height of a 500 gallon primitive pit. Which if you know smokers, then you know the efficacy of a Primitive by JD. All that to say, I’m beyond happy with the performance of mypit and I’m glad I asked real pit builders and pitmasters rather than defaulting to a “online calculator.”
@@MeatNGreetBBQ I’m glad you did your research. You couldn’t give me a Franklin pit after watching the mad scientist review. I have owned a workhorse pit 1975 for almost two years. I’ve had numerous communications with JD and Ashley through the purchase process. Your pit looks awesome. Ready to see some seasoning and cooks on it. Cheers!
@@Isovapor JD is a great dude! Also, the Franklin backyard model is by far NOT the best option for the price, you’re right J Yoder showcased that haha. How do you like your primitive? If I ever purchased over built it’d be primitive or a millscale.
Thanks for the support brother!
About to start building my 500 gallon smoker. You are giving some good tips! Smoker looks great!
Good luck brother- it’s a journey but a blast!
I finally purchased my propane deposit, a 500 gallon. Probably too big for a first time build, but this is what I could get my hands on here in Spain. It is bigger in diameter and shorter than de ones I see on your videos proportion wise. Nevertheless, the steel is ⅜ of an inch and in great condition. My question is where to join the (insulated) firebox. Should it be on the centre line or below. And if below, how much? Is there like a formula? Thanks so much and I really appreciate your channel. Without any doubt, the best on smoker building. Greetings from Spain
Huge congrats my friend that’s great news!!!
I eyeballed the firebox but believe I set it a few inches below center line. But the firebox throat opening is going to be even lower than that. It’s REALLY hard to explain over message, mostly bc I’m not an expert haha. The best help I can provide is the fire management video I filmed. Sorry that wasn’t much help.
Thanks a ton for the support brother, always means a lot!
hoochie mamma ....thats a serious tank
Im at the point of making my collector. So i Re-watched this video
Nice! Hopefully it was helpful, let us know how the build goes 👍🍻
Good job now I'm wanting to do the same to my smoker about a used one and it just don't seem to work well thanks for the info
Do it bro!! It’s well worth the time. Thinking like working a fire inside an efficient pit 🙌
All with a stick welder. MiG much easier. Hats off to you guys.
Appreciate the support!
what rod did y’all use?
6010?
@BeniZap771
First pass “root pass”
1/8 6010,80-90 amps
Second pass”hot&cap”
3/32 7018,80-90amps
@@MeatNGreetBBQ dudeee thanks for answering!!!!
Man I'm so glad I came across channel. My buddy and I are about to build a 250 gallon comp pit so this helps break everything down. Looks bad ass brother
Thanks for the support bro! How’s the build going? Did you check out the new firebox video? Hope that helps some folks ouy there trying to get after a build.
@@MeatNGreetBBQ i Did check watch the nightmare you had lol, the patched work came out better then i thought it would. We havent started the build yet but will soon
What kind of welder did you use? I’m about to build one myself but I only have a Lincoln 140c
This is about all I know from my buddy who did the welding. Hope this helps:
First pass “root pass”
1/8 6010,80-90 amps
Second pass”hot&cap”
3/32 7018,80-90amps
Thank you. That helps me a lot. Now I have a starting point 👍🏼
Awesome! This channel deserves more attention.
Means a lot family thanks for the support! Hopefully with a little consistency the channel will grow a little. 🙏
Great Video!! Love the message on your tee-shirt
Amen brother! Thanks for the support 🙏
How thick was the steel that you used for the collector?
I think 1/4” boss
Brother you are my hero... I am building one right now...and was so stupid... watching frank cox video(he is great) but he was using a pipe wrap...and called it one of these...i was looking for one...your link saved me...itll be here tomorrow
LETS GO!!! Glad I was able to help bro 🙏
Jesus is Lord of lords and King of kings.
Amen amen!!
Very nice...... Good job....... God bless
God bless you my brother! Thank you for the support 🙏
Very helpful thanks bro
For sure bro glad I could help
Loved the video. You guys did an awesome job. Can't wait to see the finished product !! BTW, did you put a damper in that stack or will you just rely on the fire box damper ?
Brother your support is truly appreciated! Great question. Is rigged a damper after I cooked in the rig the first few times. The convection was OUT OF THIS WORLD and I realized if I don’t find a way to slow the velocity down, I’d never be able to have elite fire management. So I cut an 8” circle out of some cardboard and traced it onto 1/4” thick steal and cut that out. Then I tacked an 8ft piece of cheap rod laying around to the outer edge of the ‘damper’. I made a little handle at the bottom out of an old horse shoe haha. It’s not perfect but once I did that I was able to dial in my temps and make the smoker do exactly what I wanted.
You earned the sub!
🔥🔥🔥
Appreciate the love fam!!
What Gauge of steel did you use for the stack?
Gauge is used for tubing/sheet metal
Inch (1/4",1/2" etc.) Is used for plate
Schedule is used for pipe
ie. Sch40 Sch80 etc.
I believe he's using schedule 40
That’s correct. I think I’m a video I said sch40 but I think it was sch10. You’ll be fine with either. I’ll double check and report back.
New subscriber here thanks for sharing love the shirt can’t wait to see the finish product
Thanks for the sub! More vids to come
So helpful. Thanks so much. I’m just about done with my smoker that I’m building. You’re videos have helped me a ton! Thanks again!
Dude thanks for all the support!! Glad the videos helped. Let me know how she rolls once you fire it up 🙏🙏
@@MeatNGreetBBQ absolutely man. just learned to weld 2 months ago so went at it. i'm pretty happy with how it came out. only about 70 gallons but it will do for now. you're for sure becoming one of my favorite bbq youtube channels. keep at it!
Great videos,
Thank you 🙏
Look's great .
Thanks brother
I didn’t see the link for the measuring tape you were using.
Hey brother sorry for the delay- just dropped the link in the description for ya.
Looks great! just got my tank to start my trailer smoker. Your channel has been a big help!
Thanks for the support, glad the videos are reaching good solid bbq folks. Let me know how the build goes
Fantastic job!
Thank you sir!!
Looks great man! We just started a trailered 500. I’ve got a 7’ pipe that is 8” diameter as well. Doing a folding stack so it will also be a shorter section going in first. Can’t imagine trying to do that with a whole 7’ stack unless you had some serious machinery
Thanks for the support brother! I’m
No professional by any means so I definitely fumbled through this one, but then end product was humbly impressive haha. I’ve had many cooks since finishing the smoker and I stand by those smoke stack dimensions, the thing draws air like no other! Keep me posted on how your build goes if you get a chance 👊
@@MeatNGreetBBQ will do man! How long ago did you finish it? If it draws as well as my Fatstack I’ll be thrilled
@@jamesgunn5358 It took I think 100 days on the dot, and that was not by design lol. Keep in mind we were working mostly evenings with the occasional 4 hour Saturday session. I could have done it in far less time IF: (1) I would have had all the materials needed up front and didn't have to wait on odds/end items (2) would have utilised more weekends... and (3) wasn't filming the entire process form top to bottom. I should probably add a 4th which is I had no clue what I was doing which is no doubt a silent time variable which I poorly underestimated 😅
@@MeatNGreetBBQ haha for sure. Next one will no doubt be faster if you ever do another. I’m planning on making 3 at a minimum. 2 to sell to offset the cost of building my own and the 1 to keep
@@jamesgunn5358 if only I would have been as forward thinking as you haha… but I’m good for 1 smoker roughly every decade 😂
Way to go, good stuff.
Thanks for the support brother!
Great job looking great too, can't wait to see you work on them doors, that's where I'm at now on mine
Thanks brother!! Funny you say that we’re editing that video as we speak. Should be finished up by no later than the end of the weekend 👊
Great work 👍
Thanks family!
Great stuff!!
Thanks for the support brother!
far-out man
Thanks dude 🤙🏽
Excellent! Where do you get a tank that size?
Thanks for the support! Check out this video for a deep dive into exactly how I got the tanks: ruclips.net/video/MOOLycSCGBQ/видео.html
Nice build, everyone has to start somewhere.
Haha amen to that, thanks for the support!
