Anybody that feels discouraged to learn a language with a different script could see it as a puzzle, at the beginning pieces are scattered everywhere, you start with the frame to have a foundation and piece by piece you will see how it becomes clearer what the image is. Like a puzzle you will feel desperate at moments, addicted and putting a lot of hours to put the pieces, you might have a headaches here and there, but you know that at some point you will finish it. Learning a language doesn't have an end, but like puzzles, the more time passes doing it, the better you become. Mandarin for me is more fun than I expected and I don't have any plans with it, so no need to stress about it.

It’s really encouraging to hear how Danan tackled learning Chinese, especially with such an intense study schedule. The way he broke down the process, especially his focus on mindset over age, resonates so much. It’s a good reminder that the key is passion and persistence, not speed. I’ve definitely felt those same doubts while learning other languages, so it’s comforting to know that even polyglots face mindset challenges. Keep these interviews coming, they’re super motivating!

2 weeks? I was still learning the Korean alphabet after two weeks.

Well, yeah, two weeks, but 5 hours a day and focussing mostly on speaking. Still, I am with you, I think he is a fast learner!
When trying to learn Japanese, I get very tired after 30 minutes, it would be quite hard for me to dedicate 5 hour non-stop to learning. Of course, if I didn't have to work I guess it would be different. I am also not sure I agree that age does not matter hehe. But that is the beauty of it, we do not have to agree on everything :)

My opinion is that every language is exactly the same.
No language is easier or more difficult than others.
For every language you have to memorize words.
And for every word you have to memorize spelling, pronunciation and meaning.
That is absolutely the same for every language.
Grammar is usually not that difficult.
The real problem is vocabulary, to memorize a large number of words, that is the real challenge.
And the effort to acquire vocabulary is exactly the same for any language.
My challenge: can you translate the song below?
The song is on RUclips so you can listen to it.
"Dreams Come True" is the name of the band, "Snow Dance" is the song.
    Dreams Come True
    Snow Dance
    ハラハラ舞う雪になって
    Harahara mau yuki ni natte
    貴方の頬をそっと撫でて
Anata no hoho o sotto nadete
    サヨナラサヨナラ歌って
    Sayonara sayonara utatte
    街を渡ってどこへ行こう
Machi o watatte doko e yukō
    吹かれて行こう
    Fukarete yukō
    1900(千九百)年代最後の夏は行って
sen kyū hyaku nendai saigo no natsu wa itte
    思い出だけ食べて秋は過ぎて
Omoide dake tabete aki wa sugite
    会えなくなった月日はひそやかに
Aenaku natta tsukihi wa hisoyaka ni
    輪を描いて積もる
    Wa o egaite tsumoru
    ハラハラ舞う雪になって
    Harahara mau yuki ni natte
    貴方の頬をそっと撫でて
Anata no hoho o sotto nadete
    サヨナラサヨナラ歌って
    Sayonara sayonara utatte
    街を渡ってアスファルトに
    Machi o watatte asufaruto ni
    落ちて消える
    Ochite kieru
    天球儀が"2000"(二千)を象ったウィンドウ
Tenkyūgi ga nisen o katadotta uindou
    足元にこぼれる眩しい星
    Ashimoto ni koboreru mabushii hoshi
    いつもの冬と皆少し違う顔してるのはなぜ?
Itsumo no fuyu to mina sukoshi chigau kao shiteru no wa naze?
    ハラハラ舞う雪になって
    Harahara mau yuki ni natte
    貴方の頬に口付けして
Anata no hoho ni kuchizuke shite
    サヨナラサヨナラ歌って
    Sayonara sayonara utatte
    昨日を渡ってどこへ行こう
Kinō o watatte doko e ikō
    どこへ吹かれて行こう
    Doko e fukarete ikō
    ハラハラ舞う雪になって
    Harahara mau yuki ni natte
    貴方の頬をそっと撫でて
Anata no hoho o sotto nadete
    サヨナラサヨナラ歌って
    Sayonara sayonara utatte
    街を渡ってどこへ行こう
Machi o watatte doko e yukō
    どこへ行こう
    doko e yukō
    ハラハラ舞う雪になって
    Harahara mau yuki ni natte
    貴方の頬に口付けして
Anata no hoho ni kuchizuke shite
    サヨナラサヨナラ歌って
    Sayonara sayonara utatte
    貴方に歌って昨日を渡って
Anata ni utatte kinō o watatte
    明日へ吹かれて行こう
    Asu e fukarete ikō

Thanks for the song but it is sadly too advanced for me, maybe some day 😊
Regarding your thoughts, I do think that one can learn every language, but depending on the ones you already speak, it can be considerably easier or more difficult. I can not compare learning Italian to Japanese as "being the same" in my case hehehe
