Jake, I listen to a metric ton of gaming content along with other genres and creators. I can truly say I feel the heart put into Gameranx and your personal content. There is definitely corporate cut and paste content out there, but I've never put you guys in that category. Keep up the good work man!
I don’t believe that comment either, ive always come to gameranx instead of other top tens and cookie cutter game review channels because of the heart that goes into each video. From my favorites like the Friday news show to something still with heart that falcon voices over with great visual graphics, doesn’t make sense to call this channel heartless and void of creativity
12:33 MAD respect for answering a question like this man. Also very well said, You are the reason why I vibed with this channel to begin with and you just bring good chill energy. Its also why I'm subbed to your personal channel as well.
12:18 you handled that question well. I would’ve been pissed. But that’s why I watch your videos, cuz your viewpoint demeanor and interests are very much appreciated
I think it's a fair question, however that person doesn't get it. Top 10 videos work, they can be cranked out and people watch them which keeps the channel alive. Those funds also help bring in additional and different content, plus reviews.
@@Gartimus_Prime yeah, plus there's also stuff like monthly weird gaming stories, lots of good stuff to enjoy from the channel other than the top 10 videos
Personally not a huge fan of top 10 videos (on a scale gameranx do them better than most, and I do watch them from time to time), but if they are needed to support the other content then I will never complain. This is not exclusive to Gameranx, there's a few channels that seem to follow this model. I really enjoy the videos I watch and just ignore the ones I don't like the look of. Please keeping doing what you need to do to produce the content you do
The way you responded to the Gameranx criticism is the reason I love watching all Gameranx videos. You have integrity and respect for everyone's opinion. Love it.
I liked how you talked about toxicity in games. I always tell my daughter to not feed into the bait, or use that to make her to play harder in a game. And I even run into adults that do the same thing. That's why I always enjoy the aspect of muting general chat or ignoring the private messages, because it pisses off the toxic person even more.
Props for including a critical question in the ones you chose to address, when you didn't have to. As a newspaper editor, we do the same thing with our opinion pages. It hurts sometimes, but it does so much to show your integrity, not to mention the thickness of your skin.
Oh wow, I didn't realize how much I appreciate Gameranx until you discussed that comment of it being formulaic. I find the channel/company to be truly tuned in on the craft of gaming with clear love for it. The "what made [x] such a big deal?" , "What Killed [x]"?, and especially "The 10 best games of [year] we never forgot" are fantastically researched deep dives and lists. Tell your team there is much love for the effort put into all the videos, but definitely the deep dives!
Addressing that "Mojo" comment is huge man. Not many people could professionally address something like that that way. It shows about how passionate you are about what you do. Keep killing it fam
it's been 2 years since i graduated high school and i've been watching gameranx since 6th grade. I still come weekly for the friday show and use the before you buys before i buy almost every game at this point, love you guys keep doing what you do
I’d love to hear the back story of how you became involved with GameRanx and ended up absolutely dominating . Is also love to hear the back story of how Falcon was brought onto the team!
Same! Omg I couldn’t get into GOT at all. And after I heard how it ended I’m kinda glad now cuz I would’ve been pissed off like everyone else at the end.
The animated adaptation(s) of The Dark Knight Returns (it's a two-parter) are a couple of my favourite movies ever. The animation, the music, the voice acting... each is a prime example of what adapting such a story to the animated medium can add to the experience, and the movies absolutely nail each, in my opinion. This might run contrary to the advice given in this video, but I highly recommend the movie(s) to anyone even only somewhat interested in the Batman character/series!
For Batman, I feel like you can never go wrong with Year One, Long Halloween, Court of Owls, and the White Knight series to start and branch from. Chip Zdarsky is about to start his run on Batman, he's currently writing an incredible Daredevil at marvel.
Zdarsky can write all...I say with only minor hyperbole. lol This is the best since Waid with believable characters and something that feels in tune with his arc. I can't wait for his Batman.
I have to add in Batman Hush 😩 still one of my favorite Batman stories ever, great detective story and features a great selection of Batman’s Rogue gallery.
11:48 I gotta agree with that. The ps2 era was special. The vibe of that time, the vibes the of the different games the ps2 had. It was a very memorable generation, that's for sure.
AMEN! I had the same thing happen for game of thrones for me too. I read the first book after the first episodes and then just couldn't really get into it. So much lore I didn't have to keep up with.
What I love about your videos is how upfront you are, even in the face of criticism. So many people dismiss it or give a half assed answer but when I'm watching your content, (and everyone else from gameranx for the matter), I can tell how genuine you guys are when it comes to personal opinion without letting bias become a deciding factor. Hope you guys have a fantastic friday!
Wow dude I'm glad I found a really great RUclips channel I feel that I can relate too heavy. Thanks for the awesome opinions and new scoops on video game news
Jake! Thank you for being a home for gamers man, seriously. So glad you are taking your own channel seriously and uploading more. Love the content. You rock bro!
You and skillup are probably the dopest reviewers I watch. Just recently got into Acg and am likin his stuff too. Y’all just seem so normal and straightforward compared to most others on yt. Appreciate the content my dude
Jake I just want you to know that you're one of the most humbled person in this platfrom, thank you for giving us gaming related content everyday! Cheers man!
No Man's Sky is the PERFECT example of evolving over time. That game was the biggest lie when it came out but in 2022 that game is 100% better and insane to see how big it is now. They just released a new update this month called outlaws.
I love the top tens you do it’s gives us all a chance to know what all you guys think about games , as you always say it’s your pics .trust in gameranx and there choices and gives me different views on all games .I think the whole team is awesome I miss the live streams on Tuesday with jake Andrew and Tom oh how I miss them Tuesdays maybe again in the future
Hey Jake, sorry if this has already been asked, but are there any products or business practices that you have been OK with, even though it’s not consumer friendly? Like, I have been having so much fun with N64 games on the the NSO expansion pack, but I know Nintendo is exploiting consumers.
I watxh all of the vidoes you guys put out. My son is almost 2 years old and he loves Ed the tip 10 or numbered vidoes since he is learning numbers. He gets pumped when seeing the next number flash on screen.
What kind of live service implications do you want in your video games? What would you look for as a player to capture you? I love you Jake your work has always been loved and appreciated by us all.
If a media giant branched out into this world more I would expect them to be horrible and ignore them. I am also very loyal with my gaming RUclips following since tastes that match mine are very important and someone being into it and genuine are also huge factors to me. I also love Jake's positivity.
I turn to the smaller youtubers when I want to learn about a game that's been out for a few years. There are a bunch of videos titled "Is __________ worth playing in 2022?". That's a great way to find out about new content and bug fixes.
Shoot, I watch all of Gameranx videos. I love the games, the people, and the whole atmosphere. Do you ever think that you'll come up with different segments for gameranx? Do you ever think of trying anything out of the normal?
Jake what comic book character would you like to see get their own video game? My memories of the old Punisher game by Volition really make me want to see more companies take chances on these characters.
You may have been asked this before but what is that Tony hawk underground thing in the background? It's one of my favourite games ever and it catches my eye every time
Potential question for next month: So Jake, being that you work reviewing games and have such a passion for stories, media and entertainment - have you ever considered dabbling in creating something like a game, or maybe writing a book or a comic? If so, what kind of project/topic would you tackle first? Would be cool to hear about any other creative aspirations you may have aside from gaming journalism, if any.
I'm big into bioware, My prized possessions are probably my hardback dragon age novels and my lifesize N7 helmet ❤️🖤 Taking bioware or cd project red as an example, how do you think that "fan favourite" companies can combat the high expectations and potential back lash for new games?. With so many demos, and tech getting better every year, expectations get higher, yet so does the wariness for disappointment. Of course games are always gonna have bugs and day one patches, But there are so many instances now a days were a game will be released just straight up unfinished. The latest one I can think of is the wedding pack for the Sims 4. Litterally Nothing in it worked, and with social media people can be spreading the word of that in seconds. Surely it's not the Devs wanting to release them like this, Yet they're the 'faces' of the game, especially on the likes of Twitter where they can engage with the fans. It's a great thing that they can do that, and When it's good it's good, but they also tend to get the tip of the spear when things go wrong and it just seems unfair, that it's their reputation taking the hit. I would assume that there's going to be some bad apples out there, of course, but for the most part I doubt the Devs are the ones pushing the release asap to get that money rolling in. (Sorry this was such a long post 😅) 🖤
You rock Jake! It's the Vessi guy, just wanted to say that I pray for your safety and health with how NYC has been lately. I know you're more of a Staten Island dude, but still!
In regards to the Elden Ring review question, and the idea of making a whole video about it, Alanah Pearce recently did a video deep dive on why she thinks the game was so highly reviewed and how the Souls community can be kind-of a hype echo chamber that I found really interesting! Watching her content and yours, I guess my question would be are there other game content creators (reviewers, journalists, etc) that you would want to collaborate with in the future? If so who would they be?
I actually saw that video you just mentioned and it makes total sense what Alanah said, most of the people reviewing ER were people that were already in love with FW games, I still don’t think that makes it right tho, looking forward to see a video of Jake talking about this matter and going a bit deeper into it :-)
Riff on the classic movie fan question; if you could pick a studio to make a game based on your life, who would it be? Who would you want to voice you, and who would you want to compose the soundtrack?
Hey Jake!! I never heard of anyone asking you this: As well as Gameranx, what else do you do career wise? From videos 2 years+ I always thought you guys worked at your own tech shop on LI as well as making Gameranx vids.
I really enjoy the Before You Buys and Friday news show (which should have a more official at this point) I actually wait for before you buy before buying a game most of the time. Here's my question though, How busy are you through the week, like how much free time do you get v.s. recording and editing videos.
Jake, would love to hear a list of your Top 5 gaming series other than Metal Gear / Splinter Cell. And also one or two you haven’t had an opportunity to dive into yet.
Please do a fireside chat. I’m in love with idea of those vibes. My question: With all the attention super heroes have gotten over the last decade and a half (specifically movies), do you think there could be a resurgence of games like Prototype and Infamous, that come back into the scene? I personally would disintegrate (in a good way) if I saw another fresh IP with dope powers.
Man, I really wish I could meet you at least once in my lifetime. For all the content u put out on ur own channel and on Gameranx, u deserve smth in return so pizzas r actually on me.
Nice vid dude. I like your content because you're true to yourself. People are put off by list-type vids because some of those are really poor quality released in metric tons. But your content is way better than those, whatever the title.
I'm glad he got the question about gameranx, cuz I honestly felt the same, (not necessarily the top 10s but it did feel like it has less creativity and heart) but his answer honestly put a lot into perspective
Yeah Gameranx is way more than just top 10s. Like the „before you buy“s is one of my main influences before buying a game. The Friday news show is also really good
You da man, Jake! You have finally nailed down the perfect term for the kind of person I am. Not so much a collector (though I am), not a hoarder. A goddamn STUFF GOBLIN. I love getting and collecting and displaying STUFF. I hope you don't mind if I borrow this term, but I will always give credit for it where credit is due.
I think 2 more reason for the insane levels of toxicity are the fact that the world as a whole is incredibly negative so it rolls over into gaming and also the anonymity of the internet. Most of the overly angry, rude, ignorant things people will say online would never being something they would be willing to say to someone's face.
We are in almost exactly the same situation with Game of Thrones. I got a bit further, just after the red wedding, because I started it with my roommate and he got really into it. When my now wife moved in he wanted us to have our privacy, moved out and I haven't watched even one more episode.
Just wondering if you've built any Lego sets ever. Highly recommend some of the adult builds, like the star wars heads, Batman heads, Mario 64 block, type writer, etc. They're surprisingly really fun to build and look great for decorations
For some reason I always thought you were the founder of gameranx jake. If you would like to speak more about the internal structure of gameranx or how it got started I think that would be interesting, been subscribed for maybe close to 8 years now
About 10/10 scores: Well if you're never going to assign a 10/10 to a game because no game can be absolute perfection, then you're just using a scale that ends at 9. You're just limiting the granularity of your score system.
Question for the Q&A: Could you tell us more about how it works behind the scenes at gameranx? How many employees are there and what does everyone do? Also how would you go about getting a job at gameranx, is it possible?
After the norse saga is over, is there any mythology you would want to see in the next God Of War? Are you into any mythologies? BTW love the Kratos figure in the background.
Aww man I know it’s just that guy’s opinion but I absolutely love the videos on Gameranx. Specifically your videos Jake. The “Before You Buy”’s are a must-see for me. We have very similar gaming tastes so I’m always curious to see what you think of a game, plus your reviews are very in-depth. Also, love the gaming-news videos… Or just videos where you’re shooting the shit about something. And I love the “list” videos, I listen to them all the time when I’m working. Keep up the great work man! 👍🏻
Do you have a gaming channel? I would really love to watch you play the games while you talk about how you feel about the game in certain parts, easters eggs, “did you know” facts and stuff like that, that would be really awesome
So I just wanted to say that I'm currently dealing with some medical issues relating to anxiety. Get legit chest pains no fun lol Watching this channel, idky but it's legit just healing to watch. Everything is chill when Jakes talkin about gaming. Mad respect and love, thanks Jake. 🙏🏽 -but I guess If my issue get worse, I'll know who to blame lol jk.
Jake, I've noticed you're into skateboarding and even own one (or more) yourself. Were you a skater growing up? If so what tricks could you do? If not then what got you into skate culture? I grew up a skater/gamer so I'd love to hear this.
To Jordan D, (or any other Batman fan), in case you're paying attention to comments... 3 new great Batman mini-series are: Batman: The Imposter (Great primer for the new movie that just dropped on HBOMax, this week.) Batman vs. Bigby! A Wolf in Gotham (A crossover with Fables, which is also a great title.) Dark Knights of Steel (A medieval take on the Justice League, essentially, which is very Bat-centric.)
What would you like to see in the next Metro game? (If they make another one) Do you want something more like the classic linear style of 2033 and Last Light? Or do you want them to keep going with the semi-open world style from Exodus? Love your content Jake! 😁
No question Jake, just want to say that I appreciate you and all you're doing. I'm a fan of your channel and also Gameranx. I just want to give a little validation this great Saturday morning :)
Q&A How do you feel about VR gaming? Specifically, do you think there will come a point when the majority of videogames played will be in VR and if so when?
I've heard you say "I'm just a small part of Gameranx" several times, but you and falcon are all I know of it. Can you elaborate on some of what goes on behind the scenes and maybe let us know who/what else keeps the channel running?
I actually never got ACG recommended to me by RUclips, someone had to give him a shoutout for me to manually go look for him, which is why shoutouts are important on RUclips.

Its nice to see someone so positive here on the internet
Jake, would love to hear a list of your Top 5 gaming series other than Metal Gear / Splinter Cell. And also one or two you haven’t had an opportunity to dive into yet.
Please do a fireside chat. I’m in love with idea of those vibes.
My question: With all the attention super heroes have gotten over the last decade and a half (specifically movies), do you think there could be a resurgence of games like Prototype and Infamous, that come back into the scene? I personally would disintegrate (in a good way) if I saw another fresh IP with dope powers.
love these q&a’s jake!
Man, I really wish I could meet you at least once in my lifetime. For all the content u put out on ur own channel and on Gameranx, u deserve smth in return so pizzas r actually on me.
Much appreciation for this Q & A, really enjoyed the video.
Keep it up dude!
Jake.. I just would like to know where you got your bad ass metal gear shirts from?
Great episode 👍good questions guys
Nice vid dude. I like your content because you're true to yourself. People are put off by list-type vids because some of those are really poor quality released in metric tons. But your content is way better than those, whatever the title.
I'm glad he got the question about gameranx, cuz I honestly felt the same, (not necessarily the top 10s but it did feel like it has less creativity and heart) but his answer honestly put a lot into perspective
I said honestly twice lol, that's honestly pretty funny
Yeah Gameranx is way more than just top 10s. Like the „before you buy“s is one of my main influences before buying a game. The Friday news show is also really good
You da man, Jake! You have finally nailed down the perfect term for the kind of person I am. Not so much a collector (though I am), not a hoarder. A goddamn STUFF GOBLIN. I love getting and collecting and displaying STUFF. I hope you don't mind if I borrow this term, but I will always give credit for it where credit is due.
one of us. ONE OF US!!
@@JakeBaldino Haha! Sadly and proudly!
I think 2 more reason for the insane levels of toxicity are the fact that the world as a whole is incredibly negative so it rolls over into gaming and also the anonymity of the internet. Most of the overly angry, rude, ignorant things people will say online would never being something they would be willing to say to someone's face.
Awesome vid, man.. love the fireplace idea
i love the news shows. before you buys are neat as well
We are in almost exactly the same situation with Game of Thrones.
BTW love the Kratos figure in the background.
what do you see in the future for gameranx and gaming in general, as a fan and member in the larger gaming space on youtube?
Aww man I know it’s just that guy’s opinion but I absolutely love the videos on Gameranx. Specifically your videos Jake. The “Before You Buy”’s are a must-see for me. We have very similar gaming tastes so I’m always curious to see what you think of a game, plus your reviews are very in-depth. Also, love the gaming-news videos… Or just videos where you’re shooting the shit about something. And I love the “list” videos, I listen to them all the time when I’m working. Keep up the great work man! 👍🏻
I really enjoy the Friday news show, I always look forward to it, that’s why I also like the vids on this channel, kinda similar
Do you have a gaming channel? I would really love to watch you play the games while you talk about how you feel about the game in certain parts, easters eggs, “did you know” facts and stuff like that, that would be really awesome
What the story behind the cardboard hotdog?? I need to know...
Yo Jake! What podcasts do you listen to and which ones have you been on? I think I heard you on a game spot podcast a while back. Thanks
So I just wanted to say that I'm currently dealing with some medical issues relating to anxiety. Get legit chest pains no fun lol
Watching this channel, idky but it's legit just healing to watch. Everything is chill when Jakes talkin about gaming.
Mad respect and love, thanks Jake. 🙏🏽
-but I guess If my issue get worse, I'll know who to blame lol jk.
Love you jake thank you for kickin ass- fellow New Yorker
oh my god jake please share your memorabilia!!!!!! when you get the chance i'd love to see it all
Jake, I've noticed you're into skateboarding and even own one (or more) yourself. Were you a skater growing up? If so what tricks could you do? If not then what got you into skate culture?
I grew up a skater/gamer so I'd love to hear this.
To Jordan D, (or any other Batman fan), in case you're paying attention to comments...
3 new great Batman mini-series are:
Batman: The Imposter (Great primer for the new movie that just dropped on HBOMax, this week.)
Batman vs. Bigby! A Wolf in Gotham (A crossover with Fables, which is also a great title.)
Dark Knights of Steel (A medieval take on the Justice League, essentially, which is very Bat-centric.)
There are multiple editors too, for starters
I actually never got ACG recommended to me by RUclips, someone had to give him a shoutout for me to manually go look for him, which is why shoutouts are important on RUclips.
Hey Jake. I very much respect you and hope to reach your level of positivity and critical thinking.
My question is, I am right now trying to get my podcast going but I am not really sure what to do to get more attention.
