The Order: 1886 is a 2015 third-person action-adventure video game developed by Ready at Dawn and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was released for the PlayStation 4 on February 20, 2015.
The Order: 1886 is a story-focused action-adventure game played in a third-person perspective. The player takes control of Sir Galahad of the Round Table, an order serving as protectors of an alternate history London.
I was today years old when I learned that the dollar menu is no longer a thing in an Order 1886 video
The setting and setup is brimming with missed potential. A sequel man, I would kill to see an ironed-out sequel.
This game DESERVE more love, more appreciation, a sequel. Period.
It’s criminal that there isn’t a sequel to The Order. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and with a few tweaks the sequel could be huge.
There were rumors of a PS5 Remake coming at some point late last year, but nothing concrete as of now
@@unicorntomboy9736 A remake is a waste of time, the game still looks great..,they need a sequel which there was rumors of,not these remake everything bullshit lately
I loved this game. The world was beautiful, the characters were interesting. The fact that it ended in a cliffhanger with a sequel in mind that will never happen is sad if you ask me
This game when it came out was a technological mastery, the graphics were sublime and still impress to this day! It's a shame the developers weren't given another chance. OH, SONY...
Facebook owns them
Facebook acquired the studio, but Sony still owns the IP.
Thankfully the devs are still kicking in VR. I believe they did the Echo Arena games and Lone Echo series. They are partnered with oculus Studios I believe.
Same with Driveclub.
I feel like what sony did to TO1886 they did to Days Gone.
It's an underrated gem.
We need more linear single player games with good stories.
amen
Since this video crossed my path I'm going to download it and marathon it on Friday!
@@JakeBaldino would Bioshock 1 and Blood Borne be considered Linear?
John Ekow, All of what you said, but also love an element of a semi open world thrown in too, such as Dishonored.
Yes doesn't have to be all of them big open world we need more linear games too
The inclusion of historical figures was cool, but the fact that they brought in a historical figure from India in the Rani of Jhansi blew my mind. My folks used to watch one of their serial TV shows about her, and it really does feel different when you see a part of your own culture and history brought in and made so badass, like, they don't do that in Indian media (alternative histories and bringing historical figures into the future), and if they did it wouldn't be as cool as she was depicted here. Tesla and the Marquis are two of my favorite characters, they've been given so much personality, and it lends so well to the realism of this world.
I adore getting lost in 70+ hour games like Elden Ring, but honestly a 4-7 hour game is like a breath of fresh air anymore. I think a lot of people have grown tired of the Ubisoft formula and are much more open to shorter experiences then they were in 2015.
I'll have to track this down, thanks for the heads up.
You can't tell me that this game would be amazing in an open world setting though, similar to red dead, or semi open world like TLOU
The older we get the less time we have to play 70 hour+ games. Having something you can finish in one weekend is great
@@hvr8463 That's kind of where I currently sit. Yes, I love those massive open world games, but right now those take me several months to complete. I love being able to start and finish in a couple of days.
I'm with you. These games, so obviously packed with mundane and repetitive busy work, just to pad-out the play-time (Ubisoft formula) are getting old. I'll take a shorter, less repetitive, more tailored experience any day.
@@bliglum have you bought evil west?
I have been championing this game for YEARS! I am glad it is finally getting its time in the light. This game deserves its sequel
I remember playing The Order 1886 back when it came out, and after finishing the game just imagining how good a sequel could be. If they could expand on the world more, and go more in depth with the combat and gameplay, I honestly think a sequel to this game would be a masterpiece. The world alone was just so cool and I wanted to know more
I distinctly remember the gameinformer for this game and how hyped I got for it and my friends bullied me out of so much as trying it
the cover art for that issue was so awesome
@@JakeBaldino dude it totally was! It captured the atmosphere so well and so did the pages that the article was on, it had really cool designs and concept art and stuff. Thanks for the trip down memory lane man!
Back in college I binged the whole game in a night too-I couldn’t get enough of setting and lore. They set one of the coolest foundations for a series ever. We need more vampire games dammit
It really was annoying they introduced vampires right at the end and you didnt get to fight any
My jaw was on the floor first time i experienced this game ....
Just the mood and tone ...the cinematic-ness of it all !!
The steam punk weaponry, the alt-history setting and characters got me so immersed into it, i barely noticed the shorter playtime and i have ever since been craving for a sequel !!
The last shot truely is a batman-esque moment....very reminescent of Gotham by Gaslight and Alan moore's FROM HELL !! ♥️♥️
Oh Jake you’re totally speaking my mind in this video. I agree this game was a little short but the visuals were beautiful, art direction was fantastic, the overall theme of the game was very cool, the characters were badass looking and I really enjoyed it anyway and wanted more. I’d really love to see Order 1889 powered by PS5, but I’m afraid Sony will not be willing to give it another chance because of so much bad online reactions back then. What a shame 😕
"Holy shit, that's a good fuckin´ lamp!"
Currently going through this game for the first time about 3/4 of a ways through,It's a pretty decent game I just wish they went further with the Lycans and made it more horror focused.I will say the game looks incredible for it's time
agree horror ohhh yah it well be even way better
I'd love a dedicated video on Asura's Wrath. How you and Gameranx acknowledge it so much, the game *needs* attention and, if not a sequel, atleast a remaster/Complete edition
Sick game. Did I beat it in 2 sittings? Yes. Was it a ton of fun? Yea.
Highly underrated game. Diamond in the rough, a true hidden gem.
That glorious mustache sells the entire game honestly lol
It's an excellent game and it's actually kinda heartbreaking (though understandable) that is never got a sequel. The way the game ended, and the myriad issues the game had, could have made for a sequel that far-surpassed the original.
The world works in the most mysterious ways. I just finished my 3rd or 4th play through last week. It left me frustrated that we don’t have a sequel to this game/world and I don’t know who to throw my money at to get it. 100% love and agree with this video. Thanks for sharing this, we share this passion!
Finally.. I have been saying for years that we need a proper sequel to this, one where they can have enough time and no pressure to do a 15-20 hour single player experience. I'm a huge legacy of kain and underworld fan, and this game scratched that itch so well. I need more order 1886 games (at least 2 more)
Super underrated game. Love love the story and world they made there. I always thought it would have been cool if they turned this into their own Soulslike game but with guns. I wouldn’t mind it if it was open world too with like dark underground areas to explore. At night and in dar areas is where you’d encounter the werewolves. Man, wish they revived this one.
I platinumed the game yesterday (it was my second time playing it).. I had one hell of a time with this game! loved it!!! The lore, the cast, gameplay etc.. 10/10
I’m here for my grain of salt 🧂
Vampire’s & werewolves always get looked over recently.
Played through the game several times. it’s dripping with atmosphere & details in everything. Definitely deserved a 2nd game like Assassins Creed 2 or Uncharted 2.
Ready at dawn is owned by Facebook now
This game started the renaissance of big and Empty games.
This game is great the ending hyped me up thinking a sequel was coming I wish we seen more of the Lycans though. Those parts of the game where it’s just shoot and dodge them sucked.
My main issue with the game when I played it was the length. It was a great time and I just wanted more. Definitely worth playing it if you haven’t. Hope they revive the IP at some point.
This game was so good for being so fuckin short, definitely needs a sequel to be ironed out more, also amazingly beautiful graphics for last gen!
I still personally love this game. It's like a vacation,...true escapism until you realize you have to go back to work.
I feel like Jake's tastes in games closely mirrors my own, so Im gonna trust him on this. gonna give this game a shot
Same.
Honestly, I loved it! It's such a shame that it became more notorious for it's shortcomings than it's amazing graphics and story. Yes it felt like the prologue to a bigger game and they dropped the ball there, but it's still well worth the experience 👍
The lore in this game was amazing. Wish we got more.
Dude. Are we brothers? Awesome seeing you geek out over this. I loved this game. Cool platinum trophy btw.
10/10 great game but definitely left us on a cliff hanger moment I hated that about this game because just as you said it felt like it just got to the breaking point and it was over 😭 they need a part 2 for sure!
The game was too short considering how much it cost, but I still have fond memories of it and I got the platinum. What people forget about this game was there was no delays on release, there was no day one patch, no updates to fix bugs, and the production values were so good they still hold up today. Also this was the first game in a new IP, think where it would be now if we gave sequels a chance.
One thing I really wish the game had is the ability to actually COLLECT the COLLECTIBLES. I absolutely loved exploring and reading all the newspapers and journals, but I want to be able to keep them and look at them whenever I want in a codex!
Everything you pick up in the game, you have to put back. Remember when you find the Sackboy doll? I WANT TO KEEP HIM.
The engine used for this game looked so good. Just imagine if other games use this level of detail and atmospheric environment
Was just watching the video and realized I wasn’t subscribed to this channel. Haven’t personally played the order but I think I’m gonna try it.
You have finally convinced me to take my PS4 launch preorder out of the plastic and play it on my PS5. I think the other thing that you forgot it was supposed to be a launch title and then it got delayed.
There aren't enough games like this. Played it recently and had a blast!
Wish the game was longer but loved it. Man 2015 wow time has flown by
We don't deserve a world where The Order: 1914 or The Order: The Great War is a thing
Thank you Jake I thought I was alone to love this game. Every now and then I'm cutting my beard to look like Sir Galahad and still to this days this is the beard I like to rock the most. Thanks for the video
I played this game on launch and was absolutely in love with it but yeah I was gutted it was so short and even more gutted that there wasn’t a sequel.
I’ve played through The Order three times. I loved it. Wish they would’ve continued this
Truly an underrated gem. Its a shame no one talks about it nowadays.
I think the main issue with this title was that it was originally supposed to be a launch title which would have diminished the blow of paying 60 dollars. It was delayed and we ended up getting an extremely short tech demo. It's a shame because as far as tech demos go this was a really good one and a game that deserved a sequel.
I really enjoyed the story of this game. I really hope that someday we will see more of this world. Nice to hear about The Order again
I need a sequel! Or at least a continuation in any form (film, novel, etc)
Been meaning to check The Order out for years. Definitely scratches my weird alt-Victoriana spooky world itch, kind of like Dishonored.
Totally going to buy the Order 1886 this weekend and see what it's like, thanks Jake!
Glad it's not just me that thought this! Awesome game that had so much room to grow 🙌
The easiest solution for gameplay improvement would be persistent weaponry. Make each gun upgradable and allow you to choose your load out at the start of a mission.
Have side missions that send you after unique enemies and flesh out the story and world and provide unique rewards.
The game was not far off from being a complete package. Just some refinement is all that was needed to push it from passable to excellent
Jake, brother, I just played this thanks to this video.
Godamn! That cliffhanger of an ending is unbearable.
We need to try a HUGE petition trying to get a sequel. This was so awesome.
I enjoyed the game. It had the Van helsing/Gears of war feel to it. In the end I also felt not fully satisfied. Did hope for a sequel because it did show potential. Would love a sequel with werewolves, vampires and other monsters. They can expand in other parts of the world and use time travel. Imagine fighting werewolves on the Eiffel Tower or the Statue of Liberty. Love your content please don’t stop. Take care
I would totally support a kickstarter for a sequel.
I'd love for Sony to put this on Steam, would be a pick up for me for sure.
Bruh! Thank you for showing love for this game!! ^.^ I really hope Sony picks it back up again!
Now I wanna go back and play it! :D
My Guy. I was in 1st year in my Dorm room in Canada, and a girl came over and was in my bed, but the Order was preordered and pre-downloaded for that night. I let her be as I got to play a game that was so hyped and seemed like such an interesting world I picked it up for the full price. She left while I was playing and I beat it that night. After the ending, I'm like "That was it? " and I questioned my life decisions for a long time. I paid for The Order 1886 in more ways than $70
Man I couldn't agree more. I have had this game for like 6 years and I always go back for another playthrough. It's like playing a badass victorian underworld movie. Truly didn't get a chance to really shine. It needed a sequel.
Absolutely loved the game when I played it, I'd like to have a prequel to the game, a lead up, telling the story of how the order started, where blackwater came from, but I'd like it to be short and vague because I think that's apart of the lore now.
Bought and finished this game in under two days after watching this video, had me gripped the entire time. Thanks Jake!
The Order 1886 was truly a groundbreaking game, in that it showed penis. A real pathfinder for games like Cyberpunk
Groundbreaking dick moments
Blessed video 🙌 This game was looked at wrong and I'm glad you made a video about it so recently!
And I’m here because someone said that Callisto P. Is like The Order… so now I’m looking for info… aaaand here I am
This game sooo deserves a sequel I can only imagine the things they could do I always loved it and bought a digital copy on PlayStation store and it was $10 do to it being on sale and I think that's a great deal this game was so underrated
“ It’s only a banana Michael” 🤣
so crazy, I also started playing it this week im on chapter 4!
Picked it up on sale for like $3 years ago and totally worth it. It was short and deserves a sequel
Would love to see a sequel one day!
Two words: Paris. Gargoyles.
I bought this game, beat it, gave it to my brother, had to go buy another copy to play it again since he lives in Florida. A short but fun romp
Been getting flak for defending this game for 7 years... Thanks for reminding me how much i want a sequel 😥
Can't believe you made this video literally around the time I decided to replay it. It was a marvel the first time I played it. Even more entertaining now on the PS5. It was cinematic with stunning graphics and boyo the story was great but they surely could have done better in that regard. Duration was my only qualms with this.
May I recommend a 3 issue DC Vertigo miniseries called “Sebastian O”. It’s set in an alternative steampunk Victorian England. Not as dark visually as this game but a good little read, by Grant Morrison.
Thank you for being the voice of the unheard gamers who enjoy the weird creative art house side of the video game world.
this game is begging for a 4K 60FPS patch for PS5. Come on, Sony! The art assets don't even need to be touched. Absolutely gorgeous to this day.
Someone remembering kain makes me happy
My biggest issue with this game was that the story felt very incomplete. Just when you think the final act will begin it ends..
Your not dumb, your absolutly spot on. How many werewolves and vampire fans are just sitting waiting for something good.....A freakin lot
Absolutely underrated game, imo. The graphics still hold up, imo, and the premise is so neat! I really want a sequel :T
I think 1 of the things that made me love this game more than most, even with its short run time, is that, I didn't pay for the game, I borrowed and played a friend's copy, but had to give it back before I could finish the second play through. Also, just a though, imagine playing The Order 1886 on a handheld...as in on the fucking Steamdeck, c'mon.
We need a hero studio for games like Netflix is for TV and movies!
Just to clarify. They aren’t surviving members of the round table. They use the names of original round table members as ranks. That’s why when Malory dies Lafayette becomes the new Perceval.. this is also why at the end of the game when you’re talking to Tesla he says “I’m Galahad, no more” bc his knighthood was revoked
Smaller compact games like The Order or Hellblade seem like ideal content for subscription services like Gamepass/New PS+. Maybe this current revamp of PS+/Now is the right moment for a sequel.
It was awesome at launch. I loved every minute.
It happened to be "the game to hate." No reason for it.
It was also the victim of terrible journalists who just straight up lied about stuff because they never played it. Instead they just echoed nonsense they heard to get clicks.
Not the first time they've done that. It won't be the last.
This and Alien Isolation are two game worlds I’ve longed to revisit.
Picked up Order during one of the PS+ sales for $8. Absolutely felt like I got more than my money’s worth. Loved the story, the atmosphere, the setting, the ridiculous amount of detail in the character models, objects, and environments.
I think my favorite weapons in the game were when Tesla finally starts upgrading your armory and giving you cool stuff to play with. The lightning gun, obviously.
I’m more of a casual gamer, so I didn’t really mind the QTE boss fight. The part for me that was the most annoying was that first defense section where you’re going down an alley way and then have to fight off waves of rebels. I died so many times during that section, ‘cause the difficulty just seemed to spike up drastically. Part of that was because I forgot about the whole dead-eye ability that the game gives you.
I really do love The Order 1886, and I keep hoping we get some kind of sequel announcement.
I randomly thought bout this game last week so I played it this past weekend really wish they put out a sequel cause length aside it’s very underrated imo
I really loved this game. The only complaint that I think is really valid is that it's too short. But GOD would I love a sequel of this
I needed this exact video right now, The Order is currently 63% off on the PlayStation digital store… 100% playing buying this right now. Thanks Jake!
I wondered if that hooded figure was Arthur
Man would love to see a sequel.
How am I 2 days late to this, I have driven all my friends away from the amount of time I said this game needed a sequel
I definitely wanted more at the end. The game was awesome and had so much potential they could have built on in a sequel. Also yeah, Blood Omen 2 was awesome as heck
Blood Omen was just 🔥 we need a new one! But also agree The Order 1886 - massively underrated. The world building brought me in but there just wasn't enough meat on the bones.
Found it dirt cheap recently at a flee market, like 15 bucks. It's 5AM and I just beat it for the first time after watching this video, and I'm so pissed that I can't play a sequel seven years after the fact. I gotta work tomorrow and now I can't sleep. I don't need sleep. I need answers!
I think this was one of the first ps4 games I played, and man! I was blow away by the story and graphics. It did such a good job of being gritty and atmospheric!
