    Regarding abstinence:
35 years ago I used to say it would be so much easier if I could stop eating like I stopped smoking.
My problem was always overeating. I followed a low fat diet like I was told to do. As soon as sugar and wheat would enter my mouth, I had no control.
Carnivore diet is the easiest and least expensive that I have ever been on. Been at it for over a month. Keto before that but was struggling.
I now fast 22 hours a day and sometimes go for two days. Other than a bit of milk and cheese, I'm zero carbs. I made a spreadsheet to calculate my fat calorie intake so that I can keep it between 70 and 80%. My protein is calculated so that I don't exceed and transform it into glucose to store away. I make beef tallow and lard to increase my fat intake when needed.
    I eat about 1800 to 2300 calories a day.
Trying to lose weight for my 60th birthday in June. From 200lbs to 170lbs...hopefully.
I wish I could share my spreadsheet on here. It makes it so much easier.

Hi - I struggle with over eating and control around food too; for as long as I can remember. Can I ask how you found the transition phase? Carb withdrawal is hideous and hits me hard. But I can't seem to do a little bit of this and that without falling off the wagon.

@@katiem400 My latest struggle has been spices. I love them but I now feel tired and bloated when I eat them. So going with salt only now.
I live alone so it's much easier. When I visit my kids, I end up cheating. I come back home and it's back to suffering to get back on track. Much easier at home because I don't keep any carbs in the house.
I never eat carbs for more than one meal at a time. if I did, I'd easily go out and buy some. Just saying there is no magic cure for this, just constant effort and proper prep.

So, I just quit carbs entirely for 2 days, and I've put back in just a little. That is working, then after a couple weeks I'll try quitting that small bit. I so appreciate that this video exists! Because this is far more representative of my experience than most videos about carnivore/keto that I’ve seen! Most videos seem to be about weight loss and/or diabetes, and I realize those are important issues. But they don’t reflect my experience. And the talk of weight loss is, for someone with a history of eating disorders like me, triggering.
But my overall health and energy have improved tremendously since coming to this way of eating! And the depression I’ve fought all my life is so improved now! I just wish I’d known about carnivore / keto years ago! It would have saved me years of pain - both physical and emotional.

Abstainer vs moderator. Hi Judy, that was such an insightful chapter. My daily diet consists of grass fed red meat, eggs, a tin or sardines and a small amount of sauerkraut and kimchi every day. That is seen by many people as extreme. But for me I love the physical and mental health benefits and the simplicity of the food shopping and cooking.
Everything in moderation doesn’t work for me when it comes to my health and well-being. I don’t smoke a cigarette or two in moderation. Love your channel and I thank you for the work you do to spread the word and improves people’s health.
As a side note, you look absolutely stunning and vibrant. Lovely body, healthy glowing skin. I contrast that with the vegan advocates like Neil Barnard and Michael Gregor who look frail with a greyish skin tone. A healthy plant has glossy healthy looking leaves. A healthy human looks like you. 👍

Judy - thank you so much for your message. I've been carnivore for most of the last 3 years and have recently tried adding back plant foods. I tolerate them better than I used to, which surprisingly, has now revealed to me that I have a significant eating disorder. Even lettuce can be a no-brakes food for me that eventually leads to eating all the other things until I make myself nauseous. I have always struggled with overeating but have never experienced the binge behavior until adding plants back to my diet. Seems like the negative gut symptoms of the past (before carnivore) kept me in line enough to prevent binging, but now that my gut has healed and I don't have so much gut pain (bloating, etc) from overeating, I realize that food addiction has probably been the root cause of my lifelong struggle with health. It is finally clear to me that I cannot do moderation, so I really appreciate your discussion about how moderators and abstainers are wired. Your story (and all your online content) has been immensely helpful to me - thank you for all you do!

Johns Hopkins university has done studies on this and found that, for each of the years since they've begun tracking it, iatrogenic death has been the fifth, fourth, or third leading cause of death in the US.

I’m confused about eggs on carnivore all meat no carb way of eating. Eggs have some carbs and they are not meat. Is it ok to eat eggs? And how many eggs can I consume in a day? Thank you.

I took the Carnivore Cure to heal my depression about a year ago. Unlike psychotropic medications with possible side effects such as dizziness, nausea, constipation, spontaneous combustion, temporary blindness, suicidal thought, walking around in brightly colored work-out clothing with a clipboard in your hand and high-fiving everyone you see for no discernible reason (at least that's what you see in a lot of prescription drug TV commercials) the only side effects I experience from the Carnivore KETO lifestyle is an occasional case of the Meat Sweats.
I'm proud to say that for breakfast I had four strips of bacon, a couple of breakfast sausage patties, four eggs (2 over easy and 2 poached), a small skirt steak (medium rare), a protein shake, some avocado on toast and and just a soupcon of scrapple - all washed down with a nice bubbly ice cold Diet Cola. . At lunchtime, I got a can of corned beef hash from the pantry which went right into the frying pan with some chopped onions and ketchup for seasoning, and a fried egg on top. Some Beef and Barley Soup went right well with that. For dinner, it's gonna be 10 oz. of 93/7 steak tartare with an egg on top, , some thinly sliced potatoes and heirloom tomatoes pan roasted in extra virgin olive oil.. Yeah, I'm cheating a bit with "taters and maters" - but you gotta have at least SOME carbs everyday and if you don't eat any vegetables you run the risk of scurvy. I'm also proud to say that when I weighed myself right after lunchtime, I discovered that I'm halfway to my goal of shedding another 10 lbs. and my BMI is a healthy 18.2. . Wish me luck everybody!! - and have a nice protein packed weekend!. If the weather's nice where you are, fire up that charcoal or get that propane burning l and get some protein on that grill!!

You don’t need carbs to prevent scurvy, if you’re eating fresh meat your body will make all the vitamin c it needs, just like it will make all the glucose it needs.

Ms. Judy! Could you please do a segment covering Testosterone production and Carbohydrate consumption? I feel like I get extremely contradictory info from different sides of this issue. Is a low carb diet better for testosterone production than a ketogenic diet? Do I really need 40% of my daily intake as carbs to have strong testosterone production as many musclebuilding sources claim?? Thank you

Help! I eat meat only and no high purine foods, no liver or sardines, no fruit and eating just meat triggers uric acid and gout that won’t go away. I’m at healthy weight and not overweight. If I start eating carbs and sugar for a week and gain weight, my gout goes away. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do stay healthy and keep gout down?

I've had 3 knuckles on my hand that swell on/off. Started 7 weeks after going carnivore. I was low carb prior & I think I have oxalate dumping. Still dealing with it & now carnivore 2 1/2 years. My doctor thought it was pseudo gout. It's really the only negative side effect I have had. So many positive things going carnivore.

    • @LauraB.335

There are several things you can do: eat just enough carbs (broccoli, etc) to keep the gout at bay, while keeping away from the processed carbs, of course; eat the carb food after you eat protein, so the insulin response isn’t as high; fast for longer periods. Don’t know if you already include fasting. If you do, fast longer 3 times a week, with minimum of 18 hours, and maybe add in a 2-3 36-42 hour fast a week.

Have you ever studied the concepts of intuitive eating? I have and now i have a hard time thinking carnivore isn't also an eating disorder. I usually have a lot of meat and butter and sweet potatoes and potatoes eggs. But sometimes inwant an Amys brand tofo breakfast burrito made from rice flour. Sometimes I can be a moderator but sometimes I cant. So then i need to be an abstainer.

My understanding is that water soluble vitamins are very hard to over dose on because your body will excrete excess vitamins out with your urine. It's the fat soluble vitamins you have to be careful with because your body will store excess of these vitamins in your fat. Vitamin A, E, D and K I know are fat soluble. Most if not all B vitamins are water soluble.

    • @NutritionwithJudy
      @NutritionwithJudy  2 года назад +1

Vitamin B6 and B12 can get stored. But you’re right about most water soluble vitamins. There is a tolerable upper limit post I have, I’d take a look at that for nuance ♥️

it's not necessarily the meat that heals rather it's the elimination of sugar and toxic plants plus the welcome end to binge eating and seeking comfort in food. If someone is depressed it's likely because of their circumstances...
