why is Jared Bednar never in the Jack Adams conversation? The Avs have had SO MANY injuries for the last few years, and yet he has coached them to be toward the top of the division and the playoffs every year.
Because the Jack Adams doesn’t actually go to the best coach, it just goes to the coach whose team exceeded expectations. Same reason that Sullivan hasn’t won one despite being the Penguins best coach in franchise history.
If the Norris was what it used to be, Werenski would be the runaway favorite. He still should win it and should be firmly in the Hart conversation as well if CBJ make the playoffs. No question Evason wins Jack Adams if they make it.
Montreal had 76 points last year and added Laine and Hutson? They were expected to take a step, Columbus was expected to be neck and neck with Chicago and San Jose for the best 1st overall odds.
Laine has played only 13 games. Hutson is a rookie. In both cases nobody expected them to be so good. The Habs are the youngest team in the league, especially young on D. Columbus vastly underperformed last season so part of their improvement was expected.
