I wonder how long this streak for Montreal needs to last before people start to take them seriously. Been the best team in the league for 5 weeks now against one of the hardest schedules over that span
I think they are definitely in the mix, just like the Rangers based on how they're playing in January and the way the Sens have been able to survive without Ullmark.
the chances of it lasting and them staying this hot without having a cold stretch of 10 games is low but they definitely are proving people wrong I just don't think they are quite there yet still a massive step for the team and organization though regardless of what happens
Believe I saw somewhere that they’ve been the 3rd best team in the league since Mid-November, so it’s most likely that this isn’t some random streak and just who they are as a team
@@johnpedace1531 be cautious with that the Sens multiple times had a top 5 record in the league in the last 3 or 4 months of previous seasons. I don't think it's the same for Montreal but when teams don't have pressure it's a lot easier to just play hockey, they've started to have playoff pressure now and are still doing well despite that big L to Toronto so we'll see but be careful with stats like that because Montreal isn't a top 3 team in the league let alone top 10 we all know that
Habs fan will be furious about this but this season would still be a W without the playoffs. The young guys are playing well, Demidov is coming next year as well as other young talents. Great future
As a Habs I wouldn't be furious and I know a lot of fans would be fine with it too. Habs have a lot of playoffs-or-bust boomer-type fans but also quite a few level-headed ones.
Yeah, I know my fellow Habs fans are probably not loving this final ranking, but if they finish just shy of 90 points, that's major progress, and a successful season, for sure. Things are looking up.
I’m pretty much in line with you on Seattle, although I think it depends on just how hard they sell. I heard rumors that some players with term could be on the move too, so if they sold Gourde, Tanev and Bjorkstrand and probably a couple others, I could see Seattle finishing closer to 70 points and at this point I’m kinda rooting for that. If they could dump Burakovsky without retaining and maybe give up a 3rd or include Tanev that would be my ideal scenario.
Still a young team and down the stretch they will really be tested thats why despite the Rangers problems most people have them staying consistent enough to get in same with Boston it's so much harder for these younger teams with minimal or no experience under high pressure situations to get it done they naturally ride the highs and lows which when the lows happen kills them
Ur playoff picks in the east arent crazy, but i see no reason for the gap between the teams currently fighting for those wildcards to widen like that. I think the race will stay tight with at least a couple teams missing out by only a point or 2, maybe even a tiebreaker.
Eh im fine with the placement of my Habs. I had them at 36-36-10 before the season started. I will say though I dont see 9 OTLs. Id probably make a small tweak there and put their record at like 41-34-7. Still out of the playoffs but just 3 out.
pens fan here, I honestly hope we sell at deadline and finish last in metro and actually get solid draft position. However, they'll probably just miss the playoffs by 4 points and pick mid 1st round again lmao
I mean I do not disagree with the Atlantic predictions, I also thought MTL would be out of the playoffs at the start of the season but right now they are red hot, 13-3-1 in the last 17. This is no luck, something happening with this team, it might last longer than we think. So, I'm not seeing them going 15-15-5 for the last 35 games but again who knows. Still a W for 2024-25 if they miss the playoffs, this team has been carry by the youngsters. This playoffs race is gonna be amazing, can't wait to see which team are going to rise to the occassion.
I think with Calgarys worst case scenario pretty much locked in. (Not finishing bottom 10) the habs are 100% buying at the deadline, they get Calgarys 1st which will likely be top 16 so they can use their own 1st to buy a big piece at the deadline
As a Habs fan, I’m okay with you putting us outside of a playoff spot. Sens are damn good so I find it realistic. I just think we deserve to have more points than the Bruins 😅. They are falling off and I don’t think, given the situation they are in right now, that they can turn this around enough to end up above the Habs who simply have been the Best team in the League since dec. 17th.
Totally disagree about Miller/Canucks. They're my hometown team & if they move him, I'm done I like the rest of your thoughts overall - though I want Columbus to make it. I'd love to see a situation where only both Eastern wildcards are from the Metropolitan division & both Western wildcards are from the Central.
Love these types of videos and just the consistent quantity of this channel. But I gotta question- Have you asked the Ottawa Senators to be your Valentine yet?
Bruins are 3-1-1 in their last 5 with wins over Florida and Tampa included. if Hampus Lindholm and McAvoy come back soon and the middle six keeps putting up points like they have in this stretch they’ll be cruising , especially with Swayman getting better each game. The awful special teams need to pull their weight a little more too but they’re slowly improving too
It pains me to say that I think the flyers make the playoffs. I want them to miss I want them to suck and get a top pick but they’re just so good 5v5 and now that they’re getting decent goaltending they’ve started winning
I think your hating a bit too much on Pittsburgh here. I get they aren't the hottest team in the league or anything but still just 1 game below .500, I also think this is a team not rebuilding and whos underperformed. I could see them being like 18-12-6 throughout the rest of the year which would give them 38-33-14 for 90 points.
Only thing wrong with these predictions is that you dont have the battle of Ontario happening round 1. In all seriousness the wild card could still easily end up being Boston and the Ramgers I know people are so quick to count them out but theyve been here before and done it they wont ride the highs and lows the same way Montreal, Ottawa, and Columbus will and that could kill those teams hopes all it can take is a 5 or 6 games stretch of 1 or 2 pts and you're done so Im cautiously optimistic about Ottawa especially given the schedule for the last month of the season with 11 out of 12 games at hone to end it against favourable opponents could be a great month or super depressing
I dont know. I think Vancouver will continue to stink . Calgary will be fighting STL and Utah for the last playoff spot in the west. sometime heart and guys that want to play there are important. Calgary while not being great on paper are exactly that just wanting to prove people wrong. I am a Flames fan that was just as low as Mike for the first half of the season
Yeah but even if we make it I think it’s very likely we’re a first round exit to the Jets Knights or Oilers. Long term a tank and high draft pick would help a lot.

For sure as long as they hit 85 points that's a sizable step

As a Habs I wouldn't be furious and I know a lot of fans would be fine with it too. Habs have a lot of playoffs-or-bust boomer-type fans but also quite a few level-headed ones.
I hope you're correct on the Penguins. That would be at least in the top 4 before the lotto drawing. They desperately need to commit to rebuilding.
Yup, blow it upppppp (besides Crosby)
Me too! Looking ugly for sure

That would be quite the cooling by the Habs to drop to 87 points based on what they have done in the last 32 games
Montreal are probably making playoff this year. We’ve been on fire recently.
We shall see
They are a very talented young team bu they still are very young. It’s understandable that people have doubts with their consistency

I wish they do, but it's gonna be hard atm.

All the things you said about Blues were on point
maybe the penguins can actually improve their prospect pool, even they finish at what you said
I don't know about the analytics, but I've been watching the Rangers and they give up a ton of high danger chances, they're not a good hockey team.
Oh they're horrid defensively, but Igor can make up for that and the offense is heating up
