Best boat restoration on RUclips, does not get more "organic" more original, authentic than this channel. Well done guys, keep it up.
Wow, thanks!
Step by step.
Cheers for watching 🙂
its good but no.
Hi Marina & Stu!! Just stopped by to say "Hola!"
Looking better every week!!
💥🛥💥
Thanks so much.
Glad you enjoy our progress.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Hello again you two. Wow, great intro at the beginning. You've come a long way since you got that boat! Still a lot of damaged woodwork replacing to do, but it will look great when you get it done. Every week is a new adventure. Ok, take good care and enjoy. Looking forward to next week. Ciao, geo
The holding tank needs to be high enough to gravity drain. If no direct outlet to sea from toilet (ie via a diverter) make sure it's easy to poke something into the tank right down to the seacock. The holding tank will block at some point. Everyone says it won't because they'll be careful - but it will.
Consider putting a valve in the breather hose - so that if the holding tank outlet is blocked you can pump air into it from the toilet to pressurise and unblock (unless something explodes first!).
Great tip.
You know it's going to get blocked. It's just a matter of time.
Hopefully there's enough space to slide it out.
Plus the exit of the tank is directly above the seacock.
We'll give it go as we have most of the pieces and take it from there.
Cheers for watching 🙂
nicest smelling bilge in the yard no doubt, congrats and enjoy the equinox guys
Hopefully, it stays that way.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I tell you what you’re both very good on the quiet, bilge is looking good.
The more you do it, the luckier you get.
Plus you can just cover it in paint.
🤣
Thank you.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Step by step !!! Great ! One year ! Come One . 😜 kisses from Belgium !
Thanks Eric.
We just have to keep chipping away at it.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Floor its called a floor! The plywood you step on is called the sole! Driving me nuts here! If I had hair I would pull it out! 😂
I had forgotten some of the beginning and it was really cool to look back and see where you started and how far you have come with SeaBird. Fantastic job you both are doing. Ciao
A good idea I have seen for tank vents is to run them into stanchion bases with holes in the stanchions. A friend's boat had that. The only negative was once when they didn't realize the tank was full, flushing turned the stanchion into a sort of poo sprinkler head.
The intro really showed how far you have come! Well done! :-) Painting the bilge made such a huge difference too! Richard (UK)
Thank you very much!
It was a bit of a mess at the start.
Now it's starting to clean up.
Cheers for watching 🙂
You are very brave to start such a grandiose project, and well done for the fact that your arms have grown from your shoulders. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!
Thank you so much!
It's a pretty big job, but it's fun.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Funny a bit of paint makes things look a lot better better. The bilge nearly there.
If in doubt, cover it in paint 🤣
It's taking a while to get to this point.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Hard work! Stressful! It's going to be so worth it!!!! Cracking job A!! Love from Michigan USA
Lots and lots of work this year. Cleaning, fumes. itchy fiberglass, sanding, welding and so much more.
You got that right!
But it's fun.
Cheers for watching 🙂
It’s all starting to come together, you can really see the progress.
Thank you.
Glad you enjoy.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I think Marina could do with pampering like a spa or massage , her poor back working in small places. Good progress guys.
Working in the bilge is not a comfortable job, but soon, it could all be over.
Onto another uncomfortable job.
🤣🤣🤣
Cheers for watching 🙂
You guys have come so far. I can hardly wait till you put her in the water
I just realized that Marina is left-handed. How did I not see that before? I have been following for at least two years. You are both doing a really good job of bringing this boat back to life, and doing it properly. She will be a safe, secure, and comfortable home for you for many years to come.
Here's hoping.
We are still a very long way off.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Much has already been done over the last year. Congratulations!
I think you found a very good place for that tank.Your boat is really big so you find always options. The vent should be straight up i think. Keep it simple Stu!
Very true.
Always keep it simple.
Plus, there is already a vent in place.
Cheers for watching 🙂
What a great intro - makes us appreciate just how far you’ve come! Nice work M&S!
Thanks so much!
Even we didn't realise how messy it was.
Slowly it's starting to take shape.
Cheers for watching 🙂
That's proper team work. Great progess as usual well done you two !
Glad you enjoyed it.
Painting is always fun.
Still loads more to do.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Bilge is looking great! Your Plywood is supposed to arrive Tuesday!
That bilge looks beauteous guys! All ready to receive clear blue water 🤣🤣 But seriously guys you have come a long way! Great watching it transform.
When you are working on the inside of the hull it looks like one of those old time 'coal effect' electric fires that I member from my youth. Nice to see it all gong so well!
Really enjoying seeing you guys, We look forward to seeing you every week. ❤xx
The bilde looks much better. Nearly there. And for us to remember:
Longer we work the sooner it’s over.😊
That's it. Got to put the hours in.
Step by step things are taking shape.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I can't wait to see you floating somewhere!
Take the teak surround off the mirror and get a new mirror and flat mount it
looking good 😎💚💙👍👍🍺🍺🍻
Thanks 👍
Probably don't want to add any length to tank vent, as maximum venting will speed decomposition and less stink.
With the intro we can see the immense work accomplished. Marina and Stuart, you are a wonderful team. It is a great pleasure to subscribe to help you make this wonderful project. Very beautifull work this week!!!!😀
Thank you so much!
It was a little mucky when we started.
Let's hope it stays this way.
Cheers for watching 🙂
It’s still hard work. Even so hard watching hing you two work feels like work (😊) . Off course. You two are really motivated to realise your dream. Keep it up !
Hahaha righty tighty lefty Loosey. Is definitely the only way to remember that.
It's a classic.
Cheers for watching 🙂
You guys are SO awesome!!!! Living my dream. Hold fast sailors
Thank you for the encouragement.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Great work Team Seabird. Seems like you have achievef a lot since those early days. Keep going ❤❤❤
The Battle of the Bilge meets the Incredible Bulkhead.
Something like that.
One bulkhead left!
So close.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Good one. 😂
Great work, good luck!
You guys are amazing. There is no project that want jump in and tackle it. Your dedication and hard work is appreciated by many of your followers. Keep up the good work. Cheers from Austin, TX
Wow you guys have done an amazing job on that boat!! I quit watching awhile back and it s looking beautiful!!! Well done!!!!
Thanks so much!
We are glad you're back and enjoying the videos.

Well done both of you, as usual you keep plodding on making super content 😊
Thank you! Will do!
Cheers for watching 🙂
Your video title says it all. We can all, “see the light”👍Crack on you guys!
Thanks.
Slowly, it starts to take shape.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Love watching you two just get on with it. It might not all work in then first instance but you fix as you go and its looking AMAZING.
Thanks 👍
Can't always get it right first time.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Enjoyed this. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I've watched from the start and enjoyed every vlog and seeing the progress. Well done so far, the finish line isn't far now. Most people would have given up but you both stuck with it. This shows strength and commitment. ❤
Thanks for that!
We just want to go on adventures.
Seabird is an adventure in itself.
Soon enough, we'll be back sailing and all of this will just be a memory.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Marina I bet you never thought that first time Stuart said come with me and sail round the world you never thought you'd be arse up in the smelly old bilge of. a 50 footer don't worry luv one day eh! All good guys cheers n beers Marty Australia
It's all part of the trip.
Who would have thought we'd be here.
It's fun...
Cheers for watching 🙂
Stu Marina looks like she pretty handy with that hammer. You keep in line or smack. Lol
Luckily you don't see what goes on off camera...
🤣🤣🤣
Cheers for watching 🙂
I think you're making a good decision in eliminating the toilet in the head near your bedroom.. you don't want to be sleeping with those smells.. leave it a shower and wet room.. leave the toilet in the head in the front of the boat and not have a shower there.. less maintenance and simple is always better
Hi, my experience with the inline black water tank is very good: Easy handling and no bad odours, at least on the boat we chartered this May. We used it for 2 weeks. 2 factors are important: size and location. size: 25 liters volume seem very little to me, I would double that amount. location: as high above the waterline as possible. The location you chose may be too low in order to empty well ba itself. The outgoing hose needs to attach from below (that's "inline") in the deepest spot. There are conical upright tanks available that adapt to the form of the hull.
I've seen a few different shaped tanks.
We have this, so before we go and buy another, give this one a go and see if it works.
Cheers for watching 🙂
WOW! Looks GREAT!
Thanks.
Slowly slowly 🐌
Cheers for watching 🙂
She’s looking better every show!keep up the good work. You should be proud of yourselves.
Thank you for the encouragement.
Cheers for watching 🙂
You can always drop a dry or camping flush loo into the shower room if you have the need later.
Rigid ABS pipe with chemicaly welded joints never lets any stink out.. or leaks.. if youve got a waybto fit it... You can bend it to a curve.
We did have similar thoughts.
We'll see how we get on first.
If needed, those camping toilets are readily available.
Cheers for watching 🙂
One huge step forward. No the real refining from the cabin starts. The preparation is always the hardest. Good to see all the progress. 🎉
Good things are happening!
I LOVE you guys! You are one of my favorite boat renovation/building/sailing channels. I watch Sailing Seabird, Life On The Hulls, Sailing Liberty, Sailing Melody, Sailing Squalo,, Sailing Magic Carpet, Sailing SV Cuba, Sailing Dauntless, Lahakai Sailing, Alluring Arctic Sailing, Sailing NV, Wind Hippie Sailing, Sailing SV Delos, The Duracell Project, MJ Sailing In no particular order.
Top 5 (in no particular order) Sailing Seabird, Life On The Hulls, Sailing Magic Carpet, Lahakai Sailing, MJ Sailing
Great work completed so far, the boat looks great and you shouldn't be so hard on yourselves.
I totally agree that the work is best not rushed and deadlines only lead to pressure, you will feel much better knowing that you hadn't rushed the final stages of the fiberglass and paint.
We are building a narrowboat for the UK canals and we have deliberately not set any deadlines as we wish to enjoy the build as much as possible.
Keep up the great work.
Hi guys. I'm looking forward to how the toilet is all installed. (It's on my to do list on our boat). The bilge paint looks awesome. Keep up the good work.
Ps. Your doing floorless job🤔haha. 👍
SV Kiwi Lady Opua Bay of islands New Zealand 👍🏿
We are also excited about the toilet installation.
Soon...
Cheers for watching 🙂
⛵️ ⛵️ ⛵️ Phil...
Hiya Phil.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Can't understand why you haven't got more subscribers. Its absolutely riveting watching you.
Hit the like button and comment that will show you tube there is a lot of people watching
I always push the like button. I assumed that figure was showing people viewing, not subscribing.
The bilge is looking 👌, I can only imagine how wonderful the rest of Seabird will be after you 2 work your magic on her.. people with money can buy nice things, the rest of us have to take what others have overlooked and put our hard work into it making it nicer than the one that's bought with money.. Seabird has improved greatly and so has the quality of content coming from Stewart and Marina... you 2 automatically get a 👍 as soon as I click on the video..
Looks great!
Thanks!
Cheers for watching 🙂
awesome progress!
Thanks!
Cheers for watching 🙂
No comment.
Excellent work.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💪
Thank you very much!
Cheers for watching 🙂
Amazingly well done! You guys are an incredible couple and inspiration for listening to motivation and discipline!
Week ritual : helping google to be nice with Stu and Marina. Up up little algorithm
We are very grateful.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Que cambio está dando eh!!!
Dear Marina. Clothes in the workshop blow, they don't vacuum. Cleans much more. Buy a blower. You'll love it on your "veleiro em obra"😘
Wow you are sooo crazy guys...
Thanks..
Glad you enjoy.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Why not using a dry separation toilet? No more draining p & p into the water 😂, no more holdingtank. And by doing it yourself very easy and cheap 😊
We have thought about a compost toilet, they are fairly pricey but, maybe in the future.
We'll use what we have first.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Hello, Wow! Look at that beautiful white bilge! Then the stringers and cross pieces and floor and walls! I can't wait to see it all. Ok, take good care and enjoy. later, geo
You and me both!
Don't think we'll paint the strings.
It's super white now.
Cheers for watching 🙂
You both look exhausted. But, you're doing great.
💚💚💚
KEEP GOING
Thank you.
Will do.
Lots more to come.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Came across your channel purely by chance... With a valve at the hull, on your header tank, you will have no syphen problems. ... The drainage tap will only be open while you are there. 20 ltrs of goo will take about 1 minute to drain with an inch hose... After that, the valve will be closed... I have the same set up with 120 ltr holding tank. I Tee off from the drain, to a deck fitting for vacuum extraction with its own shut off valve... Works like a treat... Put a shut off valve directly off the tank drain to save burst pipe filling the bilge with chocolate...
Shouldn’t this be episode 75?
Thought we were going back in time…..
(actually the way you started the episode we did… lol)
Lots of progress this week!
BTW, did you get my email?
I hope you guys have a great weekend.
Summer is finally here…..
I hope you have some way to keep cool working in that cabin…
All the Best! TC 👍🏻💙🍻🇺🇸😎
Great progress.
Your a fantastic couple well done all cockpits drains have to discharge above the water line for safety
Lykke til, det blir sikkert fint, finere og finest!
Step by step.
Thanks for the encouragement.
Cheers for watching 🙂
👍
Great job guys.
Thank you.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I watched the Video of Marina welding. Since you already have the welding machine you both should keep welding until you get good at it. I am sure there are You Tube videos to give you some pointers. Good way to earn some extra money (or trade) around the boat yard. doing small repair jobs. Good times are coming for you both, Cheers
You guys should rename her “the love boat” with how much screwing going on in there 😂
That's a good one!
We always look forward to your weekly innuendo.
Cheers for watching 🙂
@@SailingSeabird I thought I’d leave the obvious one about the firm shaft alone, that was to easy lol.
You always seem to get lots done each week, its impressive considering all the off camera tasks you need to do also
We honestly feel we don't make enough progress.
But once we watch the footage...
Probably too focus on the list of jobs. 😂
Cheers for watching 🙂
I didn’t quite get how you’re wanting to set your black tank up but for what it’s worth this is how I’ve set up black water tanks:
- From the macerator pump on the toilet to a Y valve to choose to go either directly overboard or to the holding tank. It sounded like you are wanting to go through the tank to overboard in the first case, presumably under power of the macerator pump from the toilet, but if you close the tank off from overboard and use it at anchorage how will you empty the tank at sea? Also without the Y valve the length of pipe to the overboard discharge seacock forms a sort of cul-de-sac and can block up with the “heavier" waste.
- A second macerator pump after the tank to be able to pump the tank overboard when outside of the anchorage, or outside of protected or restricted waters etc
- A pump out capability for when alongside and where you have the shore facilities to pump the tank out, either using your own second macerator pump or the suction from shore - being aware that some shore suction facilities are so powerful they’ll collapse a small tank if the vent isn’t big enough.
And be cautious about putting your vent on the cabin side, even with a filter the smell can suck into the cabin through hatches and portholes.
Great advice.
We'll have a closer look.
All we know atm is that the tank might fit.
Next is to work out the plumbing.
And then give it a go.
Cheers for watching 🙂
@@SailingSeabird I’ve emailed you an old diagram from my H28 setup
Love your work. You weren't tempted to go a compost toilet (actually they're not really compost in a boat, better called a dry toilet)? No sea cocks, no masses of pipes and valves, no horrible holding tank, lots of advantages.
Yes we are!
Do you have any links?
Can't seem to find the right one.
Cheers for watching 🙂
@@SailingSeabird a DIY version looks the go to me, and very cheap! You need one of those separators, a seat, a strong bucket, a computer fan and a vent for the deck that you can close off. Haven't tried it myself yet but will be doing so. I'll dig up a couple of links for you tomorrow (need some zzz's)
@@SailingSeabird Most on youtuber DIY dry toilets are for vans, but a comprehensive boat one is Atom Voyager's. It's pretty good: ruclips.net/video/c2Aueuu69Ks/видео.html
Magic Carpet went with an Airhead (at 8:00) which I believe they are happy with and seem to be well priced compared to some of the others ruclips.net/video/c2Aueuu69Ks/видео.html
Have to say your, whole, package...commitment, reluctance to cut corners, work rate...are nothing but inspiring! I wish you continued good luck!!
i'll have it if you dont want it
Yellow sandpaper is a waste of time, use cloth backed red more expensive but way better.
You are right about the yellow sandpaper.
A friend gave us a roll.. 🤣
But it works on tiny areas.
Cheers for watching 🙂
good work of you both, hope you marry that woman if you are not allready married to her..😁👍
Why did you not use a composting toilet? Divert the urine.
We were thinking about that.
They aren't cheap...
So we'll use what we have and maybe later in life change the toilet.
Cheers for watching 🙂
I haven’t done the math but I suspect by the time I buy a diverter valve, fittings, hose, clamps, refurbished the guts of the original toilet, and buy a new holding tank, I’d be close to the cost of a composting toilet. And then there is the smell of the original, and being reliant on marinas for a pump out, (unless 200 miles offshore) and the weight.
Forgot to mention that it is urine that makes #2 stink so foul. Urine is 95% water and can be legally tossed overboard anywhere. The cockpit drains are convenient.
Marina, why don't you use an electric screwdriver, it's much easier. ciao, geo
True.
We only have an impact driver...
We can try.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Just make your own, get you an old phillips and flat edge screwdrive, from the dumpster, cut the handles off and use the screwdriver part in your electric drill. ciao. geo@@SailingSeabird
how are. you going to go to the toilet?
With a sea toilet.
That's in the forward heads.
Jabsco toilet.
Cheers for watching 🙂
2 heads
Marina are you
Greek ??
What is with all you boat people and "screwdrivers"? I only ever use a screwdriver when my RYOBI ONE+ 18V Cordless 1/4 in. Impact Driver won't fit. SO much faster.
сколько лодок вы уже сделали?
Beautiful work!!
Maybe you can use only the front of the bathroomcabinet🪞
Have a nice weekend
The neighbours took it.
I'm not a fan of mirrors, plus how many mirrors do you need??
We kept the teak mirror.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Good for the neighbour and yes one mirror is enough on a boat 😊
It is looking great. The end results is going to be just amazing. Keep up the great work. I know it seems like a handful right now.
Wow! Your bilge looks great. I think I'm feeling a bit of bilge envy.
Your rollers and paint trays will arrive Thursday! Have a great week!
Thank you so much.
Perfect timing 🤩
We'll put those to good use.
Cheers for watching 🙂
Once you finish the grunt work, I’m interested on your ideas on finishing out the interior. Oh, BTW, I am not following what you’re doing with the aft head… 🤔
The decorating will be fun.
Hopefully, simple, smart and not looking homemade (crap)
We have some ideas...
The aft heads will just be a shower, no sink. Maybe make a seat. And possibly, a tiny washing machine.
Trying to keep the original trays but modify the layout.
Hope that gives you a bit of an insight.
Cheers for watching 🙂
