      The great question is the price "sine die ". What it could be after all this work, exchange of parts for new ones, etc...etc...?
      At the end it could be less expensive to buy one, less old, in a better state. The question is open ? Of course it's a question. I presume you have studed it, with the pleasure of working on your own boat.❤😅😅😅😂😂🎉
      Anyway, congratulations. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

      Green was supposed to be unlucky because a long time ago, drinkable water was stocked in barrels painted in green The green paint contained plumb which poisoned the crew. So green is supposed to be unlucky. Another idea is that clergymen were poisoned for a boat. The reason why is that the crew didn't want them to report what they did in other ports whith attractive women.

    Beautiful job. I like the green. I had a 27’ sail boat and painted the topside the same green, with a shark white antifouling bottom and bright white water line. The decks and cabin top were painted bright white too. I recommend keeping the green but when you repaint the bottom try the shark white.

    hello matey ,I bought an Elizabethan 29 from a place on the deben and the first time we, me and a friend ,took her out it was up the Stour about as far as you could go at low water , we took to walking thro' the corn fields , this was a lovely summers day , and came out on a road opposite a pub called the 3 brothers I think ,great Sunday roast , what a fabulous day.
    My mate knows the stour well because he was at Shotley and believe it or not was a button boy ! he remembers rowing the boat in the morning with the coxain bellowing and I believe they learnt to sail it as well
    about your boat ,I would love to be younger ,I would do what you are doing and get a good wooden boat , great job you are doing

    I owned a 62 Pearson Ariel that I restored and I painted its hull above the water line in that blue color that Ted Turner used on one of his boats that won a big race a few years back. It was gorgeous and one of the prettiest sailboats I've ever seen. You'd have to check...it was a light blue I seem to remember with a little green in it....I'm colorblind so I can't tell but it should be easy to find. Beautiful job by the way.

    Of course green is ok, plus she looks fantastic. As for bad luck, ignore this old sailors tale. Our Sydney Harbour ferries are all green and cream since the late 1800's and have millions of safe kilometres travelled.

      That's a great point you make. It's funny now this "green' thing turned up how many boats and ships i notice that are Green! There it is.... Cheers!

    I think the colour green being unlucky for boats is an old belief. As I understand it old mariners thought the colour green related to mould which would destroy their ships. The other belief was that green, being the colour of the land , was the fear of running aground. If you’re not superstitious paint it the colour you like.😁

      Ah - i hadn't heard the mould one...Fair reason i suppose! I'm not worried about mould so Green she is! Cheers :)

    Once I started working with one colegue, he said that green cars are always breaking by laughing at me that I have one. Sold my green one, bought brown and cant say that it needs less work :D
    Try erasing this saying of your head and do what ever is beautiful to you.
    Green/brown wood remainds me racing car with a wooden steering wheel. Nice.

    When I worked overhauling yachts, we used paint rollers instead of paint brushes.. Rollers saved us sooo muh time and energy. The reason why people started saying Green is an unlucky colour goes back to fast water boating when the water turned green. Boats with a green hull would not be so easy to see. You are in open waters. Green is no more unlucky than blue or grey or beige. Its all down to cultural history and people's paranoias at the time. Keep the Green! Many thousands of boats have this colour and it suits them!

      @savingsusanna  Год назад

      Yes, i wanted the 'traditional' brushed look - i did pretty quickly get the roller out in the end though! - and layed off (tipped) with a brush. As you say, sooo much quicker! And thanks for the comment on the Green - that's interesting! Cheers!

      Cheers Dan! - I've also got a bus that needs painting, and i've gotten (most) of the welding done... That'll have to wait until next year (poor ol' girl!) - although i can use her so it's fine, just not very stylish! 😂 . Good luck with yours, i absolutely love going camping in her! :))
