I used to work with the second drummer, Daren Garrett, such a great bloke (he was in The Nightingales too for a bit). I wondered how many double-drum parts are on Sub-Lingual Tablet or The Remainderer...both fucking fantastic records
Two of the greatest post-punk bands....longevity with both but quite different (Wire pretty much the same guys & The Fall a rotating cast of characters)
M. E. Smith. Only the best post poet ever! Had a ticket for the sugar mill, but my ex bitch tore it up. Was no 14. Missed the best gig ever. R. I. P mes
My two favourite bands. I'm pretty sure they liked each other; or at least I once heard Marc Riley playing something from Read and Burn on R6 and saying after it simply: "Wire. The masters".
Having sold his soul a long time ago, Mark twiddled with the knobs in order to justify where he actually found himself in life. there was no turning back bt this stage.
+David Ames A venn diagram of fans of the Fall and Wire probably contains a hell of a lot of people in the universal set. I'm kinda sad this doesn't apply to either of you. Also, sad and perplexing as it is that this guy is not interested in the Fall (not a fan fair enough but not being interested in the Fall is hard for me to comprehend and suggests some kind of vitamin C deficiency) you can't compare one of the most awesome, influential bands Wire to Nickleback! That is seriously rude man and pretty dumb unless I've misunderstood your comment. You must listen to Pink Flag by Wire if you haven't already. In fact I command you and everybody else to buy it if you can and listen to it immediately! It is a must own record.
Me also! ! ive been a fan for over 30 yrs (old twat ) and they just got better and better, gutted to hear the tragic news yesterday, R I P Mark E Smith.x
The Fall; Just absolutely amazing, there will never be another, Its been a tough year not knowing that Mr Smith is creating something else.
A sad year.

Intensity on Reformation. Marvellous.
Two great bands.
Mark was a very unwell person by this point. Still managed to hold it down onstage, bravo
He (they) still got it. Wonderful one).
Long live The Fall
The Fall - frequently copied, never bettered.
anybody else hear the doors the end at the start of mr rode maybe just me
Is this the Festival in Salford that turned the volume down on The Fall, leading to M.E. Smith mentioning it at another festival ?
very doo Wire set : "Joust and Jostle"- super cool.
"In Manchester", nice., "sleepwalking" "swallow"
and the whole Fall set is great as well.
I saw The Fall in the late 80's.
It was wonderful. Set with 2 women.
Me was in Pogo!
3 People were at the Radio 1 Music Fest and clicked on this in error thus also mistakenly selecting the incorrect thumb icon.

"If you like or love Mark E. Smith you never met Mark E. Smith" R.I.P. Mark
That's why they say 'trust the art not the artist'
Very true. One of the most obnoxious arseholes ever to live according to some. What a band though!
Wire AND the Fall... what a line up
Mark E.Smith in his latest could easily played Hitler.
Holy crap Reformation
The world needs The Fall!
Mais tellement!!!
Mark E Smith will be very sadly missed, he was a true genius, God bless.
Mod Kit He was talentless.
Nooooooooo! John!!!!
M. E. Smith. Only the best post poet ever! Had a ticket for the sugar mill, but my ex bitch tore it up. Was no 14. Missed the best gig ever. R. I. P mes

R.I.P.
Absolutely gutted :(
I once heard that Mark e Smith is Iggy Pop's grandad ..
Except he was ten years younger than Jim.
The Fall, Wire, Count Arthur Strong what could go wrong.
This one sounds like the velvets,i like very much..
Just terrible.. very patchy even at their height... but here? There is little left of MES - but it still goes on
tasteless and clueless
it's all crazy good . i miss it so...
I think that Charles Bukowski and Mark E Smith would have a very interesting conversation...
Thx soooo much
The hip priest lives on....
I never realised that Andy Capp fronted The Fall. Well, you learn something every day.
Mark took the mic off Eleanor’s cabinet…funny as hell
WOW GREAT :)
すばらしい!!
Yes
nothing like them before, nothing like them since.
Just another Rockabilly band anyway
My two favourite bands. I'm pretty sure they liked each other; or at least I once heard Marc Riley playing something from Read and Burn on R6 and saying after it simply: "Wire. The masters".
Ditto.
turn it down, Marc .
actually all the way through now i think of it
William shatner on the left...presenter.
What an awesome band,, but why doesn't security throw out the drunk who keeps wandering on stage?
More respect to indie darling Wire please. :(
Making train time announcements I think😂 and random growls.
Smith & Newman
Manchurian Rockabilly
Charismatic leader.
Pretty wild reformation
PiL is missing here
Cant help but just wander. Always fascinating.
Please ban blazers anywhere
Who's bored. ?
EVER Mr. MARK E SMITH
Kingswinford representing

What a line!
great stuff
Both bands plagued by bad sound - muddy!!!
Both bands plagued by bad sound - muddy!!!
I think it's part of the sound - these are not crisp and tidy arrangements!
Having sold his soul a long time ago, Mark twiddled with the knobs in order to justify where he actually found himself in life. there was no turning back bt this stage.
sold his soul? Whut?
Go scribble and dribble somewhere else.
@@paulsmit1356 i knew him i
@@CharlieMessing yup
absolutely beautiful. the wire part. the fall never interested me
+Julian Libront perhaps you would be partial to Nickleback

Very astute comment. Love both bands (NB not included), but would crawl through broken glass for The Fall.

@@davidames1746 i think daves right, if you don't like the fall you gotta be a nickelback fan, just makes sense really.
The alcohol was really starting to take It's Toll by this time.
