Wow. An outdoor Fall concert, can you imagine? I might have died from excitement. Mark sure carried it to the end! I once listened to ONLY the fall for 8 months straight. True story.

@Big Valerie My mate who got me into The Fall (and many other "canonical" underground bands besides!) has a huge and eclectic record collection...and owns every album Kasabian ever put out! Don't forget, it was BRITISH journos who coined that term...it's always seemed insensitive at best and borderline racist at worst to me, tbh) and he's into this shitty, "Oasis with a better record collection" band! Strange. I just bought the LUS reissue/remaster on Let Them Eat Vinyl, good record, there's a lot to digest, the 90's output is where my Fall collection is skimpiest...EDIT: sorry it doesn't become one to brag about one's record collection, I'm currently waiting for my copies of "Live At St.Helens 1981" to turn up!

The Fall have always sounded like a second rate university throw together to me I'm afraid - evidenced by this video. If I saw this back in the day at Sheffield Hallam I'd not be greatly impressed, I have to say. Why the Fall are so revered I'll never know, though I'm trying to like them more. @staygee1 Well, I do. For me, they are one of the most talanted and meaningful bands of the ceintury. They are sarcatsic and absurd (as life is), that is why they will never be applauded. The more the public is confused and annoyed, the better the music is.
I don't know why so many commenters have complained about the audience. Quite a few of them seem to be grooving to the band. As for the rest, perhaps this is the first time they've heard the Fall. Now they can say that they were there, "And the singer was a feisty old fellow, wasn't he."

The fine line between genius and insanity. No one straddled the fence better than Mark E Smith and the fall.
Well said..
Despite my age (76) I'm a newcomer to The Fall. Great band. Reminds me in some ways of early Velvets. Shame about the crowd but you can't win 'em all.
Rockin Atheist great
They "were" timeless in all their various carnations; maybe one day they will be treated with the reverance they deserve.
Rockin Atheist That's great mate. kind regards
Welcome to the wierd and wonderful World of The Fall, brother !
Because they're festival goers. Not Fall fans.
How can a band be so ridiculously cool, effortless and definitive. Rest In Peace Mark E Smith.
Mark E Smith singing a song about Harold Shipman to a bemused Norweigian festival crowd is pretty wonderful if you ask me.
The British people the song is aimed at are just as bemused. Which, I suspect, may be the very point the video is making.
Hahaha pure Mark XD
The song was great when played live in Manchester! I'm sure the audience understood and joined in the what about us refrain

I just did a spit-take.
So true!
Absolutely fantastic.
Awww this is hilarious! Love The Fall so much. The reaction is mentally good. Proper good music.
The fall left a statement behind, this is an example of music that stuns the audience. It takes guts, well done.
