I've only got into The Fall after Mark died. Id always known about them but knew nothing about them . They seemed too aloof when I was doing my thing in the 90s and I had no mates that were remotely interested in them and regrettably I never took a leap of faith and bought one of their records or went to a gig. After mark died I was out for a run and I thought I'd listen to some Fall songs to see what they were all about , after a bit Sparta FC came on. It went straight into my top 10 favourite ever tunes, I wanted to scream and smash something to bits I loved it , still can't get my mates into them.
@@MichaelShawcross Same for me. Hey Luciani was on the US release of Bend Sinister (Domesday Payoff Triad Plus). I heard the song, rushed out to buy the cassette, and I was hooked. I'm with you, that 84-89 period with Brix was the best, although I like all of the different eras.
Never heard this till last week and I have to say it's one of the catchyiest tunes I've heard in a long time. Loved them in the early days but never heard them much after that.
As much as it is possible to have a favourite song from a band with that many albums, this, for me, would be it. And as much as it is possible to have a favourite live video of that song from a band with so many videos, this, for me, would be it.
Missing a second guitarist - he is now on bass. The Fall were great. Never knew what u would get. The Fall WERE Mark E Smith. No more mark, no more Fall. Sad, sad, sad.
Wow- even better than the studio version. Still, the Fall strikes me as a band to enjoy in a small sweaty club (as I did many times) and not an outdoor fest.
I love this. the fall are amazing. started listening to them in the '80s. bragging rights there; but it doesn't matter when you started to listen to them.
Just started listening to the fall lasted year when Hex Enduction Hour popped into my recommended videos. I mean it when I say the experience was life changing
Some of them would have remembered them and it stuck in their minds. When I was a kid in the 80s I went to see the Smiths, actually New Order where top of that bill, but the Fall were on before both of them and they always stuck in my mind. I started buying their stuff.
yes, this is what should occupy the monster people of the world - watch from down low, then leap up with 2 microphone horns & shout it back at them. yes, minotaur. In imperial Rome, Smith could have stood on roof of foremost attack chariot with 2 mics, shouting this song.
Much better live version when you search for this ong at Leicester Princess Charlotte. Four or five songs from that night up on here. Blindness is incredible.
I saw the Fall around this time and the gig lasted about 15 to 20 minutes before Mark walked off but it was the best 15 to 20 minutes I have had, they were fucking great and played this.
We need to cut our own trails now I've woken up I see I was often following carefully laid trails of crumbs non of them leading to truth goodness or lasting beauty just mamon. I will now sharpen my machete then salve my head wound and pray for mercy ✌
crowd looks like having a nice mellow trip to me. Half are silently mesmerized. Since when does a singer not want the crowd mesmerized? and a hypnotic singer, at that. i think there are a lot of Fall fans present. just not carrying on like dicks.
Is there anyone who still hasn't heard 'Cheap Space Chant' ? In RUclips, search for 'Timekode, Mark E Smith' and listen to the strangest and best MES/Fall collaboration of them all...
best ever spoken intro before a song , "we are the fall.... we are the love corks (?)" please correct me if hearing it wrong i m non native and pretty deaf
And, this is officially the 547th time I have played this video!
The Fall amaze and delight me, no matter what line up, what year. A real band. Thank you Mark E. Smith.

Hey Luciani was the song that got me and the album that it was on. The Brix years were the best, in my opinion.
it all about each ones experiences. then one can relate. some might express it, some might not, and the rest never felt it
You missed early RUclips fall, it was all there! Original plasticine video to this, was boss!

The only band on the planet who get better as time goes on. As Peely once said The Fall are all you need. How right he was.
R.I.P. The most influential rock God of them all !
Fkn epic . You don't know what you got til it's gone .
I've seen them do this song many times but this has to be the best ever performance.
Christ....is this the best ever?
Never heard this till last week and I have to say it's one of the catchyiest tunes I've heard in a long time. Loved them in the early days but never heard them much after that.
Why the fuck is no-one moving ? How can you stay still, listening to this ? It should move the most withered soul - even in Norway.
I love the clips from this gig. The band look like they're really having fun, each in their own way.
as usual the bass keeps it together
Thank gawd that was recorded - the reports from the audience might not have been too reliable.

Jesus. Any ounce of rhythm in that crowd?
Must be Amerika.
@@christopherwelch136u.k.
Mate. One of the great British bands playing to basically cabbages.... Must be frustrating for them.
Clueless. Best band ever and stood gawping like dead fucks.

You were unique, Mark. R.I.P.
I would have loved to have been here. This was a really great set.
Brilliant version of a brilliant song.
he's 49, that's a hard life, embodied
That track was Super tight with a brilliant Guitar Riff to boot THE FALL simply Superb 👍 R.I.P. MES
I saw them in the early 80,first 90 in Berlin my born city.Fanstastic shows and a fanstastic band.😚
Missing a second guitarist - he is now on bass. The Fall were great. Never knew what u would get. The Fall WERE Mark E Smith. No more mark, no more Fall. Sad, sad, sad.
Rip....90% of British cool just died.
That crowd don’t deserve that performance.
Too right.
That's just silly. Be happy for them, that they got such a good show. Do we deserve your resentful opinion?
They were probably waiting for Fall Out Boy.
Wow- even better than the studio version. Still, the Fall strikes me as a band to enjoy in a small sweaty club (as I did many times) and not an outdoor fest.
I love this. the fall are amazing. started listening to them in the '80s. bragging rights there; but it doesn't matter when you started to listen to them.
that info is more history than bragging. no loves like the old loves.
I know this isn't a competition but 1979 me.😂
Saw them at Trinity Hall Bristol !! Before Brix joined , and at students union Clifton after Brix joined !!
Just started listening to the fall lasted year when Hex Enduction Hour popped into my recommended videos. I mean it when I say the experience was life changing
Starting listening in the 80s. Rediscover last year through Spotify. Created a Fall playlist that is so fascinating.
the guitarist now does his own project called 'white fence', its pretty good, sort of 60s psychedelia. not sure about the bassist though
Best Fall production evah. And I've been with MES from the primordium. We live on blood.
These guys are great!!!!!!!!!
Pretty old crowd... kids don't know what they're missing. Great clip!
Great performance this. RIP Mark.
So good memories wstching this madness...i miss it do much ❤
Mark E Smith is undeniable genius.
I deny it.
Fookin Brilliant post , maybe in the future that crowd may get it LOL
sparta fc is a dutch football team they shud use it as a walk on song
God this is still sublime!
Some of them would have remembered them and it stuck in their minds. When I was a kid in the 80s I went to see the Smiths, actually New Order where top of that bill, but the Fall were on before both of them and they always stuck in my mind. I started buying their stuff.
Best Sparta. Rip laa.
Another one of their classics.....
Fucking hell, this is one of the rockingest Fall songs since the early days.
M. E. Smith still got his mojo 30 years later!
Absolutely fekin marvelous.
Unrecognizable line-up, pretty much par 4 the Fall course. MES - a huge penchant for hiring&firing. Cute.
until you've been booted out you're not actually a member.....
ha ha, def LOL
@brownowl70 okay, yeah, muddy, not sandy. But I wish I'd seen them in Castlefield too!
yes, this is what should occupy the monster people of the world - watch from down low, then leap up with 2 microphone horns & shout it back at them. yes, minotaur. In imperial Rome, Smith could have stood on roof of foremost attack chariot with 2 mics, shouting this song.
flyinspirals brilliant! chariot roof haha.
""You mug old women in the paper shop." LOL!!!
Got to see them at The Channel in Boston on The Frenz Experiment Tour and the rest has been history, grateful just about everyday
i saw this !!!!....i love the fall ...i like this one too theme from sparta fc 300 the fall
@MegaKevorkian Love it. Too right. X = the comfort zone. Stay in the red. We ain't running on empty.
how many versions are there of this song?
iv heard one with the lyrics ''i dont have a jacknife, it went up the hill.....''
RIP Mark.
Brilliant, and Mark appears to be fairly sober/drug-free for a change.
I came here from John Cooper Clarke's book 'I wanna be yours'. Great show in Oslo.
riff gets me every time
Class.
Immense.
That crowd needs a slap.
Fuck me the crowd are proper into this!!!
Rest in Power Mark
We are NOT Galatasary we are Sparta FC!!! LOVE IT!
, thank you ,mark for the songs were singing, wish my sound system went louder
That bass!!!
saw this at The Islington Halls amazingly good.......
Powerful music.
Songs like this? I wish my volume control went up to eleven....
Much better live version when you search for this ong at Leicester Princess Charlotte. Four or five songs from that night up on here. Blindness is incredible.

Be my, be my toy ! English Chelsea fan, this is your last game, classic songwriting ......
The Cardiacs brought me here after The Fall sent me to the Cardiacs who sent me to The Fall who sent me to the Cardiacs - logic of the universe-ah!
We need to cut our own trails now I've woken up I see I was often following carefully laid trails of crumbs non of them leading to truth goodness or lasting beauty just mamon. I will now sharpen my machete then salve my head wound and pray for mercy ✌
Mark WE don't forget you....
I wish people would stop moaning about the crowd. Its a festival in Norway. Hardly likely to be many Fall fans there. MES doesnt care.
crowd looks like having a nice mellow trip to me. Half are silently mesmerized. Since when does a singer not want the crowd mesmerized? and a hypnotic singer, at that. i think there are a lot of Fall fans present. just not carrying on like dicks.
Norwegian spastics need tae lighten up...
WE ARE THE FALL!!! RIP MES.
Incredible!
Is there anyone who still hasn't heard 'Cheap Space Chant' ?

AWESOME
best fall live act i've seen for a long time.
Awesome. Thanks for posting
Love this lineup. Totally rips.
I see them in the 80s at folkestone leas cliff still listening in x
Yes It's great. Could watch Blindness peformed at this gig once upon a time. Anyone know where that has gone?
Crowd didn't know what hit them hahaha!
Bunch of philistines
People liked the idea of the fall better than liking the fall
Thanks for the illumination
FUCKING AWESOME
we are the fallll :)...its sooo good
this is as good as it gets!
The Americans acquit themselves well in this version of the Fall. Tim Presley playing a nice (repeated) guitar riff.
Yeah. Like Lemmy said about Canada when on tour with Motorhead... "you need to bring your own crystal (speed) up here".
Class!
Groups , as smith preffrred to call his bands. He was true. What an artist
James Hatfield nicked half of that riff
Hetfield
best ever spoken intro before a song , "we are the fall.... we are the love corks (?)" please correct me if hearing it wrong i m non native and pretty deaf
its always like that on Øya
And then, it is! The freedoms we were there! and the marke Smith! It is that what I wish you!
Utter class......
Mark E Smith = legend
love the audience...very very cool....
yes, cool.
the crowd makes me want to move to Norway. tomorrow.
This is the Fall, Manchester's finest
Thank God for Mark E. Smith. They don't make them like that anymore.
Base & Primal. Fucking Great!
Bullshit music bloggers only giving love to the Brix Smith era of The Fall. This is brilliance and I'm not sorry if you don't feel the same way.
The Fall were great more often than not.
