I mean the 135c is probably indeed the best if you only have one ship.. but if you have another, larger and more expensive to maintain ship, for example the carrack or even a connie you will really want the 125a because you don't really care about cargo See what I mean?
Pisces is the BEST box runner!! Land right on door step, back open. Luv it but like you said better to buy in game for when u feel like just doin some quick deliveries. Think my fav is the nomad but avenger looks the best! Great vid brothaa and good luck to all you new citizens, choose well! #o7
Ya, smuggling and shuttle services are all I could really imagine using it for. Maybe it'll be a big part of exploration gameplay when they have caustic atmosphere or something, at least I recall hearing about that.
The pisces is good as a runabout. With the new physics added in game its the best option for transporting people to and from a ship that it can land inside of (890 jump aside)... that said if youre careful the Aurora LN has way more punch and shields and can still land inside the bay of a carrack without rubbing or breaking parts off. I still think the snappy acceleration and deceleration speed of the pisces makes it great for box delivery and just quick running around, but if its your only ship the Aurora may technically be a better option. If you don't care about fitting inside the carrack, spend 10 more bucks for the titan.
@@MadrealmMatt yes, definitely agree on that price point, seems needlessly expensive. if youre buying stand-alone ships its nearly double the price of the aurora for a ship that isn't better, just a sidestep into different foci. Maybe it has an advantage over the Aurora in the amount of ships it can fit in and standing room at the cost of a bed and some firepower... doesnt seem like CIG has an appropriate pricing scheme and we are paying hype tax. All that said i still like how snappy it is, even if pitch and yaw are the same as the aurora (i havent tested this so im going by what you say) its accel/decel rate is quick so you can do deliveries and land fast for courier stuff since you dont need to throttle down as soon to stop in time. If you dont need the bed or firepower, it is the better choice.
Nomad is a great ship if you plan on doing mining profession. Starting out you can carry the ROC. Once you've grown yourself to the Prospector, the nomad can easily transport the resulting refined SCUs of ores to market on planetside. THe combat is Okay , its doable but not its strongest suit. She is a truck and she has a lot of utility. Once hull C.D.E s come in game I imagine you could use her to ferry cargo to space from the surface. Meanwhile the tractor beam/ utility hardpoint could possibly allow here to assist with salvage, or ferrying smaller asteroids to prospectors. moles. This ship screams potential once you get over her quirkiness.
Ah, the old throwing shade on the C8X Pisces Expedition thing again! 😂 Meanwhile, for the Nomad, "...but it's when you start to analyse this ship objectively..." Yeah... 😏 I think you skipped a few strengths and weakness along the way. One case in point being when toilets become a thing they will mitigate the value of beds a little by forcing people back to some kind of base (where beds are probably also available), so there's another feather in the cap for the Nomad. And judging non-combat ships against each other for their combat capability skews the analysis seeing as they're not designed to be the ones we'd typically pick when looking for a fight, but might by chance be the thing we're flying while trying to end a fight or escaping. Pisces strengths: 🚀 Box carry space + cargo + 2x secured passengers + quantum range = solid all round starter transport package 🚀 Fast acceleration makes it efficient for planet and outpost visits (very close to 100 series for time efficiency) 🚀 Tiny size = tiny landing footprint, further reducing pedestrian travel time and giving it a wide range of big ships it can park inside (good high end potential for use as a parasite shuttle) 🚀 Tiny size = harder to hit which mitigates the disadvantage of only having one shield 🚀 Stealth potential (the video does touch on this point) 🚀 Next to nothing for fuel and repair costs Pisces weaknesses: 🚀 No jump drive (mentioned) - upgradeable to jump drive (not mentioned) 🚀 Only one shield generator (mentioned) - low EM signature (touched on), extremely low power demand (not mentioned) 🚀 No bed (mentioned) - only a minor inconvenience for starter content near stations, or for a parasite ship (not mentioned) Yeah, the weaknesses exist, although most of them wind up not being as bad as they appear on paper. I love my little Pisces. 😁 I wouldn't change it out for any of those other starters, although it's definitely tempting to get a Nomad in addition to it.
I just don't think it's right for them to have the Pisces at $60 and none of the 100 series available. I know I'd be very disappointed with it, especially considering the $10 difference for the far superior Titan. Just not something I would be okay with suggesting someone completely new to SC start with. EDIT: It's only fair to compare their combat prowess, as a great starter in my opinion would be able to perform to an acceptable standard in all aspects of gameplay. All that being said; different strokes for different folks. I still think it'll be my go to drug running machine with a stealth build. It does look really nice, and the interior has a great shuttle vibe.
I bought the Nomad, just starting out today. I figure I will do some mining with the ROC to boost my income and can then buy other ships for other uses fairly quick. BTW, I used your referral code when signing up because of your ROC video!
Oh thank you! Glad you decided on the Nomad. Once they address the issues with elevators and vehicles it's going to be a serious money maker with a ROC.
@@MadrealmMatt yeah, I am only just getting started, but the whole idea seems amazing to me. I bought a Logitech x56 RHINO HOTAS, some mounts for them and then also took advantage of some of the other holiday package deals and got the Cutlass Black (going to get my son into the game too, and figure we can use the Cutlass Black to carry 2 ROCs and fly together) and I also bought the Avenger Titan more for flying fun. I'm sure most would think it silly to spend real money on those, but happy to support the effort.
@@timfederwitz You can always melt those ships to upgrade into other ships or game packages when they are advertised on the store if you see something else you want!
300's don't come in a game package, and the 100 series is not available in the pledge store at the moment. I considered adding the 300's in as an honorable mention for an upgrade, but it would have taken a while to cover the 300's in a way I would have been satisfied with. There's quite a few differences between the various 300 models and I'll be covering them in my Light Fighters/Interceptors comparison.
I had to give it the polar skin, I think the change in contrast really helps... but it's still quite boxy. I've also been considering that the Titan and Nomad are large enough that we may have to do some type of engineering with them once that gets added, due to the large interior.
I started with the Aurora LN, but upgraded to the Titan pretty soon
I actually upgraded mine to the LN for a while and had a great time with it. The extra S2 missile slot and S2 weapons are a huge bonus.
Some say that the 125a is one of the best ships to own as a second ship
I'd prefer the 135c myself, but I can definitely see the merit to a 125a. The 100's are all around very nice.

shes a great runabout. My goto ship for flying to planets. Easy to fly, easy to maneuver, easy to land. and 2 jump seats. Love her
The arrow is a really fun ship to do bounties/mercenary missions which were recently buffed
Ya I still like to use it for bounties as well, super cheap to repair or claim and always fun to fly. A great ship for combat.

Agreed. I think if the Pisces was much closer to the price point of the Mustang and Aurora, I probably would be a little nicer to it :P
