I even want to turn my three characters-Rik, Axel, and Raven-into followers, each with their own unique backstory and ship. Completing their quests could lead to becoming friends, earning their ships as rewards, or even stealing the ships for yourself, depending on your choices. I also want to incorporate ship battles, like when you fly into Serpentis and get ambushed. The possibilities are endless with our imagination.

Yup! Brian's correct, I used the Mantis - UC Ace Pilot mod by MonkeyChief1170 on Creations. It's a replacer and changes up the lore so that the Mantis is a callsign for a veteran UC pilot. Official Mantis lore doesn't change though, just a skin replacer.

I went with the ship building mechanics/optimizations mods first (Better Ship Part Flips/Snaps, Ship Building Tweaks, etc), then the parts mods (Avontech, Matilija etc), then the outpost mechanics mods, then the outpost parts/decorative items. And these would wrap up right before the "8) Gameplay changes/tweaks/add-on such as combat/magic/perks/etc"

@@MotherCoyote-z5i the mini bracer is from the Better Ship Part Flips mod by rux616. It’ll be located just under the regular bracer. If you don’t see it then you probably have an older version that needs to be updated. Same goes for the flipped cargo.

Same here 😂 I happened to get a request to do an upgrade and at the same time, there was a Reddit community challenge to retrofit an in-game ship, so I figured let’s kill two birds with one stone here. And that’s correct! I don’t remember if it happens on every encounter but the Razorleaf triggers a dialogue sequence from the hostiles you encounter who mention that you’re the Mantis in fear, and then they Grav jump away. You can change up the ship all you want and you’ll still be able to do this, so no worries about upgrading it. I think you can even change the name of the ship and it’ll still trigger that dialogue from hostiles.
@ I’m on the opposite end of the spectrum. I’ve been ship building only for so long, I need to bring myself up to speed again with the story and faction quests again 😂😅
Just a personal preference. I started out with all particle beams but slowly tapered off through the year. I really enjoy the ship combat in this game, and the particle beams are too much of a delete button that end the dogfights too quickly. The other primary reason is the cool factor. Ballistics just sound cool to me and with the "Faster Autocannons" mod, it's like having a C-RAM or gatling gun on your ship. The mod is a bit too balanced, and the ballistic damage should be buffed a bit, but I'm using mods like "18 Ship Weapons" and "1 Ship Weapon Power" to help with that. With these mods, the damage output balances the ship dogfights _just enough_ to make them feel very engaging.

Instead of all that rubbish about the Unity, the artifacts and the Starborn, the main quest in Starfield should have being about the player being the newest inheritor of Mantis's name. But noooo! Instead, we get sad excuse for a main quest.
Taking on the role of the Mantis as a full-on quest would've been really cool now that I think about it. I'll be honest, while I did enjoy the main quest, I actually prefer Starfield as sci-fi game than a fantasy game, so I completely avoid using things like the powers. I guess I wish the main quest went in a slightly different direction too
@@High_Key That "Starborn" rubbish would be more fitting to a game set in an Asimov-esque galactic empire where the Starborn are... I don't know... maybe a group of super-soldier protecting the empire? Members of the nobility chosen by their special powers? Anything would be better than what we got. Other underused quests are the UC Vanguard/Freestar Rangers questlines. Imagine how it would be see them expanded and turned into Starfield's main quest instead of that existential "Starborn" rubbish. Hell, I can easily imagine a main quest where someone else beyond Vae Victis discovers the relationship between the heatslugs, the Lazarus plant and the terrormorphs and start using that knowledge to weaponise those beasts. Now, imagine that same individual(s)/organization _selling_ the results of that knowledge for the highest bid for the Va'ruun or the Crimson Fleet and what would happen if one of they started using the terrormorphs as weapon agains both the UC and the Freestar Collective.

Instead of all that rubbish about the Unity, the artifacts and the Starborn, the main quest in Starfield should have being about the player being the newest inheritor of Mantis's name. But noooo! Instead, we get sad excuse for a main quest.
Taking on the role of the Mantis as a full-on quest would've been really cool now that I think about it.
I'll be honest, while I did enjoy the main quest, I actually prefer Starfield as sci-fi game than a fantasy game, so I completely avoid using things like the powers. I guess I wish the main quest went in a slightly different direction too
@@High_Key That "Starborn" rubbish would be more fitting to a game set in an Asimov-esque galactic empire where the Starborn are... I don't know... maybe a group of super-soldier protecting the empire? Members of the nobility chosen by their special powers? Anything would be better than what we got.
Other underused quests are the UC Vanguard/Freestar Rangers questlines. Imagine how it would be see them expanded and turned into Starfield's main quest instead of that existential "Starborn" rubbish. Hell, I can easily imagine a main quest where someone else beyond Vae Victis discovers the relationship between the heatslugs, the Lazarus plant and the terrormorphs and start using that knowledge to weaponise those beasts. Now, imagine that same individual(s)/organization _selling_ the results of that knowledge for the highest bid for the Va'ruun or the Crimson Fleet and what would happen if one of they started using the terrormorphs as weapon agains both the UC and the Freestar Collective.
