James, I am a mid-handicapper and play the Kirkland as my gamer (TM Tour Response when I want to splurge). Testing the V2 and V3 on the course and with my Bushnell Launch Pro in the sim, I notice a slight drop in spin rates. The V3 also feels just slightly more firm, but still has a great feel. I am getting more run out with my driver and plenty of stopping power on the greens. It seems to be a perfect compliment for my game and a small, but welcomed, improvement over the V2. I have played about 15 rounds with the V3 to date. Thanks for the reviews and content!

I’ve also been playing the KSv3 this season and, while I haven’t done as deep comparison, I personally have noticed about 3-5 yards gain in distance and a much more controllable feel with the v3’s vs the v2’s. I’m also a mid-handicap who likes to play Bridgestone Tour B RX when I want to splurge.

I tried the Tour Response and lost 30 yards on drive compared to Pro-V1x. I found out with my swing speed with driver ~100 mph the Tour Response is not the correct choice for me. Pro-V1x is a bit firm for me, but until I find a ball I can use which I can benefit on greens and off tee I'm sorta stuck...

I have been using the new version of the Kirkland ball for 2 months now. I am a 8.8 handicap and play 6 rounds a week. Love the ball it flies well of the tee and the response off the irons is very good. Ball spins well and has good feel off the putter. The biggest thing I have noticed is they seemed to have improved the cover durability. With the V2 I had a hard time getting more than 2 rounds before it was scuffed to the point where it was unplayable. The V3 I can regularly play the same ball for 3 or 4 rounds and it is still usable. Love playing against a ball snob who makes a joke about me not playing a premium ball and beating them and asking if they want to try a Kirkland.

I’ve played both. V3 scuffs less but performs almost identically in all other aspects. When struck equally flush with driver or irons, V3 is more predictable and slightly longer. I’m guessing that’s because of slightly better (less) spin off driver and longer irons. Still the best value, semi-premium golf ball available.

Two dozen for $10 with slight damage. There are tons of people who do this as well so spending $$$$ on balls is kinda wild unless you’re playing at a high level. I'm a budget golfer, I never buy golf balls, instead I spent £12 on a powerful on sale UV torch. I play a round of golf then as it gets dark walk a couple of holes looking for balls. This usually nets me between 30-50 of the balls you guys lose. Thanks for that. I find so many balls I can have different balls for different courses. For example Pro v1's and cromesofts and other premium balls I use on wide open course where I'm less likely to lose any ( I'm 20 ish handicapper ). Kirkland are second tier balls in my mind and are used for tighter courses ect.
I would happily game Kirklands if I was paying for my balls but find so many premium ball's I can kinda be a snob about it and play more premium balls. Overall though I would happily recommend the Kirklands.

My problem with the older versions was they would scuff and tear after just a few holes...until they fix the weak cover they are not even worth the cheaper price since it takes 3 or 4 balls just to complete a round.

New V3 is slightly longer off driver and longer clubs but fail miserably on shorter irons (5-10 yards shorter). 90 compression, hard cover, thin hard mantle is the reason. Forget this ball in colder weather for the same reasons above.

Ironically I've just started playing 6 months ago ( after not hitting a ball for about 30 years)
My game has got to the point where I can break100 and finish the round with the ball I started with ( most of the time) As good balls can be pretty expensive I've made a few trips up to the posh GC not to far from where I live with a UV torch. 75% of the pickups have likely been taken out of the packet and the been striped straight into the woods. In a month of Sunday night visits I've picked up over 700 balls (over a 100 ProV1s) The balls are mainly Titleist Callaway Srixon or Taylor made ( no noodles pinnicles or topflites on this course) However the most popular ball other than those 4 is Kirkland with an even split of Vice and Bridgestone just behind that. Of the 700+ balls I've picked up, around 200-250 of them I'd deem practice balls with scuffs minor cuts or that they've been there for a while. All the others are glossy with a least half having that new semi tacky feel to the cover. I doubt many of these balls have been hit more than 2 or 3 times and certainly not more than a hole or two. Up until recently I was playing Callaway super-soft 2 piece surlyn balls, but I wasn't getting the spin I was expecting from wedge shots so I'm looking at moving to 3 piece urethane balls with low compression as my swing speed isn't that high so I only get 130MPH ball speed with driver.

Durability with the V2 was always the issue. V1 was better. You need 3 x V2 balls per round sometimes due to how badly they scuff up (without losing any) so the savings just aren't worth it unless the V3 cover has dramatically improved? I switched out to the Taylormade Soft Response in the end and have played that all year. It carries further, still provides the same level of stopping power on the greens and feels as good as the Kirkland IMO.
