I absolutely LOVE and RESPECT highly what you just did with this video and with your daughters about this topic .
May everyone watching have a blessed Sunday!
Let us pray for everyone following the Lord.
Have a nice evening!
The inability to hold one's drink and know when to stop causes entire countries to acquire a bad reputation abroad - the UK is one case in point. Then, there are those who turn into raving horrible monsters, even after two glasses.
Another thing I can't stand is when people persist in talking you into another alcoholic drink after you tell them 'No, thank you!' and call you names if you stick to your decision.
Yes, that's correct.
I can't understand people who regularly get very drunk. Even see people who can barely stand.
The ppl who are drinking or are alrdy drunk and want you to take another drink& then call you nanes if you stick to your decision are doing all that not for you but for themselves. They know they are or are close to being drunk, out of control or impeded faculties& intellect. They do not want to do it alone& feel justified if they can get another to do it with them. They get mad seemingly at you bc you r excellent decision makes them
Feel ashamed Barrasso s or himiliated about themself bc they don’t want to stop drinking at that moment. Plus they didn’t want to do it alone, esp.seeing a friend who can self-control self-discipline and they can’t at that moment. They don’t possess that kind of self-discipline or self-control& they feel bad about that. They want to then get more numb via more alcohol to stop feeling bad about themself. The irony is if they stopped at that moment then they would feel better about themself bc they could take care of themself like God commanded all of us do. It would instill that confidence,a little pride that I can do it& optimism to continue such a lifestyle of discipline& other virtues!
Drinking and sports are two weapons wielded against young men.
*Playing Sports* is fundamental for boys/young men but watching sports as an adult is a way for the system to capture your tribal instincts/religious instincts and instead of doing something to promote 'your side' you support some random logo with rosters of players that constantly change teams. Drinking is laced into sports watching, but its another thing entirely in America and seems almost a program of 'instead of risking young men getting together and creating a better future, let's just have them compete with each other to see who can drink the most'
A defense protocol for the system if you will: convince men that what they should be accomplishing is: 1. Getting drunk 2. Getting laid 3. Watching sports 4. And now with the perpetual children ubhave the marvel movies and such
Ugh God take me home plz
Great discussion that the rising generation should hear.
“Getting wasted on St. Patrick’s day is degenerate and cring”
Another nice quote by Taylor Marshall.
I always thought that was so twisted and a sign of the situation of Ireland. It's fine to have a drink and be merry, but the way they "celebrate" a saints day and have made it devoid of Christianity and just degenerate ...I think it was a sign of what we later saw coming out of Ireland (and now see).
It’s also very offensive to Irish…but like Catholics, it’s ok in our society to make fun of the Irish people but nobody else.
@@ecclesiaxxi6210did you ever hear of do not judge??? Show me one nation right now that isn't going through chaos and I highly doubt it's from drinking beer or wine, there's many worse things out there like child sex trafficking and pedophilia etc. Point your finger at the real crimes and leave the beer drinkers alone
You’ve got SMART kids, Dr Marshall❤ Thank you for sharing them to your audience😮😊
I wanted to tell you Dr Marshall… I went to Catholic Mass sung in Latin today.
I had wanted to go for a while, but was shy about it. Well. Your videos gave me the little shove I needed to get through the door. So thank you very much for that.
This church has a lot for Latin lovers. Mass in Latin several times a week, I think.
I am not confirmed Catholic, so I abstained from communion (believing one must first be confirmed).
The church is so much more beautiful from the inside, there was much to wonder at.
The congregation made me wonder if the future might be Catholic … babies and children everywhere!
As Church of England (by default) and Catholic Convent Educated, I was amazed I could remember some bits… like Solve and Mia culpa. I need more.
I would have joined in more if the fellow next to me hadn’t had such a beautiful baritone, it reduced me to tears.
Dr. Taylor's girls are so smart. When I was in high school, here is an example of how we were taught by the nuns at school (and our parents depended on them to teach us):
1. we could not wear black patent shoes because they reflected what we were wearing under our uniforms
2. girls who chew gum, smoke; girls who smoke, drink; girls who drink, have sex.
We were so well prepared to go out into the world and be safe!!!!!
Girls who chew gum smoke? That sounds a little off... tbh though, I don't care if that sounds out there, these are the types of nuns and teachers we need back a Catholic schools ...I'm a millennial and that would have been so nice to have that.
@@ecclesiaxxi6210 yes and PRAYING THE ROSARY IS TO MARY ..
this is why WE DON'T USE IT IDOLATRY
As a Catholic Christian with a Irish ☘️ nationality,
I myself have drank alcohol occasionally but then afterwards I have to become more sober.
I'm praying to stop alcohol
Everyone knows the moment they rly feel the alcohol about to “hit” or knowing that one more drink will make them feel drunk or push them over the edge. I think that’s the line of demarcation. You should probably say no to any more drinks once you begin to feel “okay alcohol is hitting me, let me stop before I get drunk”
Thank you for this video Dr. Marshall!
Thank you Marshalls!
Alcohol can have devastating impacts on families. It did to my family and from what I have seen, if I had my life to live over, I wouldn’t touch the stuff. It starts out innocent enough but eventually creates havoc.
Lovely talk! 🙏
Thank you so much for saying this 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great episode! Good job ladies
Why I do not drink:
1. Alcohol issues on both sides of the family
2. Saw effects on non-drinking members of my family.
3. Bullied because of #1. When I get bullied, I plant my heels deep.
4. Was a paramedic. You do not want to ser the wrecks I have been to due to substance issues.
Thank you for this informative Q & A
Becoming drunk will make you do stupid stuff that you will regret after
also say dumb stuff that you can't take back
I would be HONORED to have these young ladies in my family. And I'm sure your sons are equally proper, so I would want them in my family as well.
Raising Strong Beautiful daughters is one of the smartest things to do as a Dad because strong Daughters are something the culture hates and anything against the culture they hate
Just when I was thinking to stop drinking this popped up on youtube.😂😂😂
I often wonder about the water to wine miracle at Cana, the jars used are massive, tons of wine distributed as far as I understand, but I also understand 1,000s attended wedding feasts in those days, just makes ya wonder was it a big party with intoxication?? Singing, dancing, having a good time, I can see God wanting us to enjoy and relax at times, was their moderation back then, how did people act? I understand the symbolism of the first miracle, but have always been curious of the party once the best wine showed up.
Great questions from both of the girls. You are doing a great job raising these young ladies Dr. Marshall.
Great information, thank you!
WOW! You have 2 beautiful intelligent daughters! I know you must be proud of them... & you've earned that grey hair. 😄 Congrats Dad!
I never knew that I use to look forward to a Friday night to get drunk and act up . Must say I don't drink anymore had my fill. I'm going to have to apologise to my maker for that.
always best to keep your head on your shoulders!
I started Karate when I was 6, I'm 40 now. I haven't seen him in years now. My Sensei was amazing and gave me wonderful training and was the nicest person. I truly am grateful. Martial arts is my life, and I have a beautiful dojo with wonderful students. My Sensei bought me my first pint of beer when I was of age, as I grew older I got to know him..... Iv seen it a few times to many, when he got the beers in him, he had an evil in his eye, and I could feel it and sense it. He got violent and abusive and nasty and horrible, we had a fist fight one night and I won with out fighting just using my words, it's scary to see a nice person turn like that. And perhaps many of you know or have the same kind of person in your life. Alcohol is not nice.
I think viewing the effects alcohol and marijuana in terms of "custody of the mind" is a helpful measuring tool. When drunk or stoned one loses full custody of one's mind thinks wrong thoughts, makes bad decisions and takes wrong action.
Gluttony is a devil. I got rid of it and it tried to come back. 🙈 I'd stay away from alcohol completely right now when we are supposed to be sober and vigilant.
Absolutely!!
My will...is strong...its set into stone....only one 🍷 glass with a special meal.... Christmas etc. 😊❤
Given why drunkenness is a sin because of loss of reason, and buzzed is just a funny feeling (motor skills), a happy feeling, buzzed i wouldnt even say is sinful.
Thats like saying eating chocolate to enjoy it is sinful.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Drinking to get "buzzed" is flirting with the devil.
It goes beyond just drug and alcohol, Elliot Hulse has a good explanation on how even masterbations is clouding your judgement when looking for a wife. Addiction to sugar ect. The drug is inside you. This is a good reason to practice fasting from many things.
JESUS I TRUST IN YOU 🙏🙏🙏
I like that you made a distinction! Even though I am an American I spent 12 of my first 18 years of life in Germany in 3-4 year stints. "Merry of heart" sounds good. When young Americans when they would first get to Germany in High School would go off the rails and get drunk. Quickly they conformed to a norm that frowned upon drunkenness' and embraced "Merry of heart". In less than a months time often they too would embrace the idea of moderation of drink and frown upon excess! So it did not take long for this change to take place.
Not that I've done it, but I didn't know about hypnosis!!!! Thank you
That opened my eyes as well. I have been to a ladies night where the entertainment was a hypnotist putting women under and having them do funny things. I'm relieved now that I didn't volunteer.
Jesus supernaturally delivered me from tobacco and I mean supernaturally and then told me to stop drinking. 15 years later still sober
This is why I never and continue not to drink!!
3:24 If certain persons, in order to cure your _supposed_ drunkenness force you to an excess in food that's real gluttony, is it yours or theirs?
By "forcing" I mean things like:
* giving you food while you beg for money for laundry
* giving you food while you are asleep, so first thing you see when you wake up is a meal
* keeping you irritated, since irritation increases the appetite
* giving you food while you eat
* forcing you to de facto negotiate a no thanks
and so on ...
4:03 I recall a poem of St. Brigid of Kildare, in which she wanted to offer the King of Glory a whole lake of beer ... probably not all for Himself, but clearly she was not aware the substance as such constituted immediate sin.
2:48 Can we agree that the NT is briefer than the OT, so specifics on what "drunk" actually means can be taken from OT?
Isaias 5, verses 11 and 22.
The implication of what Heli told Hannah.
Back to confession.
Moderation in all things excell in none…
Don’t be the wine-Bieber
1:20 The same goes for hypnosis - while you are in it.
And sleep, while you are in it.
And the hypnotic states involved in going to confession or reciting the rosary.
Your making a point ☝️ . Meditation prayer , rosery , quiet reflection , might be self hypnosis. Maybe .
For sure being a salesman is sinful hypnosis . They're always using that Jedi trick on me .
@@xshugh Why do you open the door to them?
@@xshugh _"Maybe ."_
If not always, at least in ideal cases.
Rosary is God's hypnotherapy - or the Blessed Virgin's - hypnotic induction by repetition, therapeutic suggestions by the words and the 15 mysteries.
I think, if you are an adult...one glass of wine with a special meal...aids digestion. [ This is sensible ] one 🍷 glass....then drink fresh juice for the second. I confess...i enjoy one glass of good wine, with a special meal. 😊❤
Wow. Are those your beautiful daughter? Thank you for this discussion.
I use to get drunk. Now I can only drink up to 2 or 3 beers. I don't like to drink when sad or depressed only in a happy motive. Getting drunk 🥴 makes you into another person.
Indeed, bad things happen to young ladies who get drunk on that Saturday night out. 😊❤
Thank you for the great information. This is timely as there would be 2 major festivals which include lots of alcohol in Borneo, end of this month. The Holy Scriptures could not go wrong! God bless.
Yes
Lovely daughters. Lucky they have a devout and learned Catholic father.
The wedding at Cana ??? 3 day weddings in those days
I've thrown up from drinking multiple times but while in that state I never blacked out, never forgotten how the night went, never made a big decion that I hadn't thought out before hand, never committed a sin that wouldn't also commit when I'm sober. When I'm drunk sure i might be a little more willing to commit a sin but when I do it's because I choose to do it not because the alcohol made me. It's not like I only commit sin X when I'm drunk, I'll do it when I'm sober too. I've been plenty drunk but I still have all of my mind, and the vast majority of my will. In other words not much different from when I'm sober. So how then is it a sin? Now if your talking alcoholic, yes that is a sin because you are a slave to your addiction. The addiction is the sin not the substance. Doesn't matter what you're addicted to, youre a slave to whatever it is. Now If I get drunk only on Friday nights but I'm sober the other 6 days how can you say I'm an alcoholic. Clearly I have more power that the desire and can deny it at will. Perhaps a single instance of drunkenness could be called greedy, but without the addiction is that really a mortal sin. Dog like not everything is a mortal sin leave some room for venial. That's my current take on it.
Seeing you break down these things with your intelligent daughters is inspiring. I pray that I get a chance to raise sons or daughters to appreciate God’s grace in the same way.
I am writing from Zagreb, Croatia.
I became acquainted with the tradition 4 years ago. Already the first holy mass (Missa lecta) left such an impression on me that I immediately realized that this is the only and correct way of worship that best describes our faith in the Triune God. My question is: let's go to mass in brotherhood of St. Pius X (FSSPX).
Looking at the spirit of the times we live in, I ask myself a question, and at the same time, you. Was Marcel on the trail of St. Athanasius or is the brotherhood on the trail of schism?
The community is growing as the number of children multiplying, that's what the Almighty told us 🤰😅🙋
God's blessing
Hello, I am also Croatian but am now in the US. I respond to your comment because of that and the mention of SSPX. I have started to attend SSPX mass and it will not disappoint you. I intend to continue to go to this mass forever
@@urmyson1 The Latin Mass is the pearl of the Gospel.
The mass by which we harmonize everything.
We tailor our annual vacation to it, we look for locations that offer a Latin mass.

6:31 In Spain, the tradition is not to wait to Santiago before you take some wine or beer.
Con pan y vino se hace el camino.
Alcohol has these properties, that are very relevant:
* it gives you calories to walk with
* and it does not burden your bowels with solids so you need to s***te more than twice as often as usual.
i regret my drinking so much but theni go and do it again i hate it
Taylor forget go mentioned that we are called to avoid sin at all times especially if we know that it will leads us into sinning. Also being called the near occasion to sin
I quit when my teeth and lips start to feel numb.
Drink enough to lighten the burden of the cross you carry but not so much that you can't honor the Sabbath
im a big guy and i still have my wits about me even if i drink a lot. is this still a sin?
I didn’t realize it was only a venial sin to steal 50 cents. How does that work how do you measure that?
DOCTOR TAYLOR!!! Did you see Michale Knowles wishes to interview regarding your presidency campaign?! He wishes to see what your plan is, he briefly mentioned it on his members only podcast yesterday. You should def contact him to gather more votes for Christ!!! VIVA CRISTO REY!!! Hope you see this (:
Mind you what about the Catholic Trappist monks whom brew fantastic but strong ales (two monasteries are my favourite) I guess moderation is the rule.
Yes lets hear from kids that have probably never tasted a beer. 😂😂😂
Do you need to become a heroin addict to understand why it's wrong? Ridiculous comment.
Why is hypnosis akin to drunkeness?
Im newly catholic and also a clinical hypnotherapist.
Ive helped hundreds of people with anxieties, depression, procrastination, phobias and traumas utilising hypnotic intervention.
How is it not akin to drunkenness? Its a loss of control over your own mind. I suggest you read up on the catechism because you may be in a dangerous moral predicament here
@@awuriefnejqwjmnwn4960
clients are in complete control of the intervention.
There must be a willingness to participate, otherwise the therapy is very likely to be unsuccessful.
People have an incorrect understanding of what hypnosis and a trance state is and how it can be used to alter unresourceful behaviours for someones good (likely from watching stage hypnosis demostrations).
When you watch your tv or drive your car to work on the same route everyday, you go into a state of trace.
Utilising a natural state the mind can achieve on its own to modify unresourceful, and sometimes deadly behaviour is the definition of a moral thing to do.
People are putting themselves into a state of trace with on different levels everyday depending on what they are doing.
At the end of the day, the client still needs to make the changes themselves in their everyday life.
Many people have done 12 step programs and been unsuccessful until I have worked with them. For whatever reason (and its not for me to understand) the religious and spiritual component of 12 step wasnt for them.
I respectfully disagree with the assessment that hypnosis is akin to drunkeness as it is a misinformed statement.
Don't go on a no carb diet and drink alcohol. It almost killed me once.
How about the amount of time spent on video games/tv/phone. At what point sinful. At what point mortal sin
Hard to say, but if done in excess, very sinful. You waste the time accorded you by God in useless pursuits when it should be spent performing good works.
God bless ❤ I'm becoming a priest.
You may not know it, but alcohol still does have some medicinal purposes. If I take codeine for pain, I can't drive a car. But it isn't a sin to take it.
What if you can’t go to sleep, and a hot toddy or two helps you relax and sleep-kind of like a sleeping pill might..? Is that the same as getting drunk and losing control of your faculties with others?
5:18 _"if you cannot operate a vehicle you are drunk"_
In the sense of "drunk driving" or the sense of Ephesians 5:18?
I think they are different.
Operating a vehicle takes lots of fine tuning and quick reaction capacity well beyond the actions of free will and sound intellect.
And what if you cannot operate a vehicle for another reason? Like sleep privations? They will make you look wasted next day too.
The most important question morally is
smoking cigarettes a mortal sin or not?
No one ever dare to answer or reply to this.
Ive never...done drugs...i had a strong will, from the beginning. 😊❤
I am against all smoking and cigarettes and all marijuanna, totally against it.
Please explain why the wedding party at Cana was not sinning when they were drunk on the bad wine before the good wine was brought to them.
Bible does NOT say the wedding party at Cana were *drunk.*
The BIBLE also didn't say PRAY TO MARY OR that there's A purgatory
Great! Bro. with good daughters, I too had daughters, just as them of age, but of the opposite mind, I lost them, to passion of feast n party
I am unlucky guy, mys too unlucky, I tried but unbelievers so,....
But the apostles even drank a lot of wine, along with Jesus at the wedding in Cana….
I gotta weigh in....as someone who did edibles for years and experimented with the range of getting high, if one had one mild drag of regular cannabis and exhaled shortly would not do much, maybe make one relaxed.....that said, all the priests I know as a now a Catholic of 3 years, none say it is ok unless prescribed as medically necessary. Cannabis will quickly ...I mean exponentially distort time, to very slow, enhances all senses and sensations of the body... lowers inhibition as alcohol does....if one tired and or has low tolerance ...they might just pass out...if ingested orally ? dont be surprised if your high or at least thick in mind and dizzy.... potheads arent as a rule violent...cannabis wont make someone hyper usually....but internally??? DAYDREAMY and the onslaught of shoring up anxiety is always there.... even at time spooky levels...like feeling the presence of a watcher imagined or otherwise....and even season cannabis users cant run from anxiety...also it is CARTE BLANCE to let and go with any and all thoughts and it is not like you can stop it well or at all anyway.....so a strong joint? 5-7 hours of impairment, maybe some terror/anxiety for 3-4.5 hours...edibles slower ramp up and longer effect 120-20mg depending the person.. This level of MENTAL impairment/arrest from alcohol would be like a teen girl chugging 500 ml a sweet sugary liquor on an empty stomach for the first time.... out of it.... about 5-8 hours, puking, dizzy. That is how strong Cannabis arrests the mind - but with alcohol it affect the body FIRST and lingers long after mental high from booze. Cannabis in heroic doses 300mg or 3 strong joints? well that is gonna be a long one....unless you're Willy Nelson ( brain receptors for cannabis habitually shrunk) you are gonna feel it for 14 hours or more maybe feel nauseous. probably lots of anxiety. Alcohol wont touch this level of mental affect unless mixed with a drug or medication. So I hope that sheds light on why the Catholic church teaches against Cannabis - it will rob your will, your presence of mind and vigilance against evil...not too mention make you constantly eat or seek other body pleasure's! Stay away from it and all recreational drugs
Is going back time a sin?
St Patrick’s Day drinking didn’t come along until the 19th century in parades in New York I believe ☺️
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Temperance!
I can make a glass of wine last 3-4 hours!
In my younger years I'm sure i pulled a few drunks but outgrew it in my mid 20's. Motherhood will do that to you! 😊
The recent Bud Lite ad was not made by real people of genius.
But that would have been the perfect time to mention that self medication of alcohol, that is, getting drunk is a sin.
Seems none of the conservative "Catholic" groups mentioned it.
In a way, that was a sin of ommission.
I One man don’t drink any alcohol it effects the mind body and spirit One in the flesh
Moderation is the key. A buzz is not the loss of total control of your faculties. Jesus drank wine as well.
Some Protestants think the Catholic Church justifies alcoholism. Sure there are stereotypes of Irish, Italians, Poles and Germans drinking excessively but the teaching is clear. The drink is not sin but drunkenness is. I see Knight's of Columbus guys drinking beers like water but maybe many Catholics are ignorant as well.
The *Catholic clergy never preach against drunkenness.* Not even during 1800's and 1900's when *men's habitual drunkenness was a massive, massive problem* that often caused husbands to neglect their families. Habitual male drunkenness precipitated Prohibition in Russia, then in America. But, of course, Prohibition failed because *moderation is the key,* not total abstinence. Silence is deemed as consent, legally, so I don't blame Protestants for thinking RCC approves of drunkenness. Practically speaking, they do, by *not teaching* that drunkenness is sinful, sometimes mortally sinful.
@@francikeen not true they do, not often but they do, in Poland there was a letter against it some years ago read in all the churches, and about sin. Also priests spoke about it in the 1800s as I've read books about it where the priests tried to protect their congregations ... remember though, a lot of people saw it as "ruining fun" "kill joys" you do have a bunch of people who chose to ignore church rules for fun, pleasure, hedonism... temptations and sadly a lot of people fell for it, hence the decadence. That's why you need state power to promote virtue.
@@ecclesiaxxi6210 Those are some interesting stories.
It’s sad there’s so many defending drunkenness. It’s explicitly condemned in the New Testament. It’s in every decent examination of conscience as a serious sin. It’s in catechisms.
St. Benedict in his REGULA stated monks should not drink wine.
I think this should apply to all alcohols. Grapes do not grow everywhere.
And his advice is good for all of us.
(At Mass/Devine Liturgies, if given, we get the Blood of Jesus, not wine.
Indeed, grapes do not grow everywhere. That's why some orders brewed beer instead. But beer came had different alcohol levels. For example, small beer had on average 1% alcohol. Some of the "soda pop" we drink today like root beer, ginger beer, birch beer, etc. were traditionally produced by lacto-fermentation, which produced a bubbles and a small amount of alcohol. Small beer was drunk by all ages. It was the Coca Cola of its time.
@@admirathoria0073 And American beers are week in alcohol content than some made in the UK and EU
Ok so it's a sin because you don't have custody of your mind. Agreed. But what happens if you lose custody of your mind because of mental illness? I fear nothing except for psychosis. Loosing custody of my mind means that I could commit suicide. I could lose my life and my soul in the process. That's the grey area- losing custody of the mind through no fault of my own. Thanks be to God that I haven't had an suicidal ideation since 2006. But I fear that more than any illness.
That’s easy. Is picking flowers on the side of the road stealing?like a few lilacs at the Walgreens by the sidewalk
Private property that will financially put the owners in a dire financial situation yes mortal sin.
Put them out a bit but won't make them financially hurt...... venial.
Stealing from others venial.
Public property if perhaps picked to give glory to God or for love of others ....& one flower......sure that's fine if not like a public park display ; but growing abundantly & wild.
But don't be greedy.
Who owns the lilacs? Is it on public or private land? I have lilacs, viburnum, and roses growing on my front yard. I don't mind people picking some IF they ask permission. I DO mind if those flower thieves who walk by and pick them as though they own them.
Is it okay to catch a buzz?
GOD is my body and spirit in the flesh I Am just a man with no power over GOD
I kid you not. I only drank alcohol a handful of times in my life (haven't even touched it in more than 20 years now) and I noticed the more I drank, the more aware I was of right and wrong. Now I don't believe I got drunk to the degree I see others either so this is just my observation from the little times I did drink. Weird I know but that's the truth as I felt it. TBH though, I can't stand the taste of alcohol and I do want to be fully functionable if I can.
What is considered "drunk" .08 alcohol content or what??
2:38 You would agree that Ephesians 5:18 is not speaking about _alcohol doctors'_ definition of intoxication, like even from the first glass?
Because if not, you pretend priests sin when they celebrate Holy Mass.
Drunk is not euphoria of the first glass, as with eating chocolate, due to the calories, or slightly tipsy if you go beyond, drunk is when you continue past slightly tipsy.
Don't drink ye potential mothers!
I accidentally got drunk trying to be healthy with smoothies of fermentated fruit, went to the wrong phone company and waited 0.5 hours to pay nothing and had a fan on backwards breathing dust and now semi choking all in one day today and all my mother did was drink chicken and eat beer before I was hatched 😒
