I have been a priest for over 51 years now. Listening to this post has reminded me of how and why I lay down on the cathedral sanctuary floor all those years ago and begged God to help me to be a good priest. Thank you! I am retired now but help out here and there where needed. The only thing I have ever wanted to do is to remind people (myself included) of God’s incredible love. His grace and love is enough for any of us. Thanks again! You made my day and days! I will remember you as I pray the Office today. @@johnfitzgeraldkennedy5265 _'Real priests are not going to argue on RUclips with strangers.'_ 1 - there is no more sacrifice, therefore no more need of a 'priest'. 2 - 1 Thess 5:21 says to _'Test all things'_ - a man of God is always prepared to provide the answers - i suppose they aren't. 3 - Eph 5:11 says to _'Expose evil'_ - men of God do this with the Word of God. 4 - Christians are open, educated and quick to always share the Gospel with whomever asks. you're right - no 'priest' cares to because they aren't of God. there is no more _'important things'_ to do than to deliver the Gospel Truth to all of God's children. they miss this because they aren't. hope you're well, Sir - have a great day!
As Catholics and as a people, we need more videos and stories like this. We are inundated with stories of celebrities and sports figures; we need to hear from more religious and those discerning the religious life. A truly powerful account of one priest’s journey. You had me at military, Fr. Stephen! As a 33 yr Air Force veteran and lifelong Catholic your words spoke to me on several levels. Thank you for sharing your story, even the difficult parts, with us. That's what makes you HUMAN as a Catholic priest. Too many priests/bishops/cardinals seem to be unapproachable and "above us", the lay people of the Church. I consistently tell our new pastor (less than a year at the parish) that his best homilies are those he speaks from the heart, those about real life and the tie-in to the Gospels. I've been seriously discerning the Priesthood and Gods calling for me. This path started my senior year of high school after I had a teacher pulled me aside and ask about if I was thinking about being a Priest. Its something that I considered but never put effort into making it grow. I eneded up not acting on that right away. I graduated high school in 2014. I went to College afterwards and failed out. In 2016, I went back to school to become an EMT. Helping others has always been a calling I had. Id drop everything to help others. 5 years later, I experienced an event that I shaped me further and made me begin to seriously discern what I am being called to do. August 29, 2020, I get home from working an overnight shift. I got a call from work, I at first muted the call, but something serious clicked inside me. I answered my phone but was not prepared for the news I got. There was an ambulance accident, my close friend Tonya and a new guy were on their way back to the station from a call. The driver fell asleep and flew off the interstate. Tonya was ejected and died on scene. The time that followed was pure hell, so much pain and weakness. I locked myself in my room the whole week and refused to do anything. I left only to go to her funeral and then returned to my room. I was very depressed, I had enough of the suffering, I reached out to God and begged him to do something or I will. Immediately after I remember a warm feeling embracing me, and the pain and suffering stopped. I felt like I made a wrong turn, and began to return to see where God wanted me to do. The conversation I had with my teacher almost 10 years ago came back into thought very clearly. "Have you thought about being a Priest?" Since then I began to discern the Priesthood, I returned to college to study Theology and Education. I've been performing academically amazing. As each day goes and each meeting I have with my Vocation Director, my path is ver clear. I have a few things to work on, but in 2 years I'll be going to Seminary, at least thats the plan for now. God is in control.
My heart breaks for your origin story, Father. But, I cannot help but think about Romans 8:28, "We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." Thank you for sharing so candidly your path to the priesthood. May God bless you as you live out your life In His Service.

@@lucialare7590 Fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls) Our Primary Vocation is Holiness Happiness is doing the will of God. Interestingly, that could also be the definition of holiness. The primary and universal vocation of every person in the world is to be holy-to become like Jesus Christ. Christ-likeness is the only success recognized by God. Or, as St. Bonaventure said: “If you learn everything except Christ, you learn nothing. If you learn nothing except Christ, you learn everything.”11 Interestingly, the people who take holiness seriously are also the people who experience the most happiness here in this life. Why? Because our holiness is preparing us for the supreme happiness of heaven, the true destiny for which we were made, not some glimmer of happiness which we might experience here. Holiness directly leads to fulfillment and human flourishing, and the entire concept of vocation encompasses both. The first vocation of every baptized person is to become a saint. While that may seem daunting, the good news is that this vocation does not require any discernment. The Church and Sacred Scripture both tell us clearly and definitively that holiness is everyone’s primary vocation. The Church on earth is endowed already with a sanctity that is real though imperfect. In her members, perfect holiness is something yet to be acquired. Strengthened by so many and such great means of salvation, all the faithful, whatever their condition or state-though each in his own way-are called by the Lord to that perfection of sanctity by which the Father himself is perfect.
@@lucialare7590 fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls) The Vocational Pre-Determination by God When I was a vocation director, I would visit the Catholic schools in my diocese to teach the children about vocations. I explained to them that before God had even created the world, he knew them and he loved them. He already knew your name, he knew every thought you would ever think, he knew how many hairs were on your head, he knew your sins, he knew your good deeds, and he even saw the moment of your death and your entrance into heaven. And God had already decided your vocation before he had even made the world! Or at least, he had already planned to which vocation you would be called. When it finally became time for you to be born, God created your soul to go inside your tiny body, and it was created specifically for that pre-determined vocation. I call this concept the vocational pre-determination by God, or vocational pre-destination. If God is calling you to marriage, then he prepared your soul and gave you the gifts of body and soul to live out the vocation of marriage. If God is calling you to priesthood, then your soul and body were made with that vocation in mind. This will be an important hint for you as you discern. Look at the gifts God has given to you and where those gifts are best used to build up the Kingdom.

The way Fr. Gadberry started his story, I wasn't sure I would continue listening. I woke this morning with an overwhelming sadness about the elementary school massacre in Texas. As I listened, I started to cry, but I hung in there, and I'm so glad I did. What an incredible story of a young man committed to following the prompts of the Holy Spirit. The love and passion Fr. Gadberry exudes is proof that he's exactly where God called him to be - in the priesthood. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful story. I can see it providing hope and encouragement to both young and old. God bless you.
You know what’s so cool, there’s this friend of mine, Deanna Marie, who was born on September the 8th. She was always so nice, when I met her in grade 11 I just wanted to be her friend. Have you asked why she paints tarot cards? There's no evil in that if you take the time to learn and educate yourself more about it. Such harsh criticism is not Christian.

Thank you "Word on Fire" for this beautiful film that premiered on the feast of Mary Help of Christians. The next day, May 25th marks the 59 anniversary of the ordination of blessed Stanley Rother, the first U.S. born martyr priest to whom father Stephen refers to in the film. Beautify testimony Fr. Stephen. I am a retired Navy veteran of 30 years. I transitioned from being a sailor in the Navy to being a sailor for Christ by being active at my parish. Your testimony resonated with me since I had a profound conversion. I grew up fatherless and went astray living in sexual sins. God has given me the special grace to convert through the intercession of the Blessed Mother saving my marriage when I went to Medjugorje 15 years ago. This is an interesting verse about priests Hebrews 10 KJV 10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: 12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Queen of heaven? 👸 Jeremiah 7 KJV 18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? 20 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

3 - Eph 5:11 says to _'Expose evil'_ - men of God do this with the Word of God.
4 - Christians are open, educated and quick to always share the Gospel with whomever asks.

May God bless you in your journey!
My heart breaks for your origin story, Father. But, I cannot help but think about Romans 8:28, "We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose." Fr Brett Brannen ( To Save a Thousand of Souls)
Our Primary Vocation is Holiness Happiness is doing the will of God.

The Vocational Pre-Determination by God When I was a vocation director, I would visit the Catholic schools in my diocese to teach the children about vocations.

What a wonderful tool for Vocation programs throughout the parishes.
Thank you, Fr. Gadberry for consenting to make this excellent presentation . You are an example of what a priest should be, a true man of God. Thank you also for helping so many of God’s people. I pray for you that you will continue to fervently serve God and his people. Thank you, again!
I am located in the diocese of St. Augustine, Florida. We are welcoming a new bishop from the Diocese of Little Rock Arkansas. I hope Father Gadberry is praying for Father Erik Pohlmeier as he accepts his new adventure in our diocese.
He is a dear friend and a fantastic priest. Father Erik will be great! We will miss him.
Father thank you for this amazing story of your journey. I’m blessed to be called to view it and take the next step. Tears of joy running down my cheeks Bless you!! Thanks be to God!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful story, may God continue to bless you, and may you continue to shepherd all whose lives you come into contact with. You’re absolutely awesome!
Thank you Fr Gadberry for sharing about your life, your vulnerability and the challenges you faced, inspiring us to live lives according to the purpose that God has called us. God bless you.
You're such a blessing to the Catholic Christian family, Fr. Gadberry! May the Lord God continue to bless and guide you. Allelujah! Our Lord is Risen!
This was so beautiful! I cried with him when he shared the story of losing his father and sister. The human experience is so painful and ugly and beautiful ALL at the same time. ❤️
Watched till the end, if you don’t know who you are watch till the end and you’ll see the way to go find out who you are. Thank you for pointing the way.
Beautifully done! God Bless you, Fr. Gadberry, and everyone who made this possible.💟
I have just cried my eyes out hearing this young priest’s testimony. Thank you so much for this beautiful story of the “making of a priest.”
This is an interesting verse about priests
Hebrews 10 KJV
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Queen of heaven? 👸
Jeremiah 7 KJV
18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
What an beautiful loving axing caring young man my goodness the love u show the live bless u Beautuful kind soul Lucy Colgan from Ireland
Thank you for sharing and thank you for answering Gods call.
I couldn’t wait to see this . What a testimony! You had me in tears and chills. We need more priests like you. You show a different side of priest life. What an example you are for so many. May God continue to bless you and your ministry. God is so good. 🙏✝️📿
This was beautiful. Father Gadberry is so articulate and so obviously in love with his vocation. His sincerity and charisma shine through.
Matthew 23:9
And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
@@vanities9484 well said!
i also always ask people to reconcile John 14:15 with Exodus 20:8-11. catholicism simply can't. sadly, most protestants can't as well.
Love, love, love the band analogy! As a musician, I couldn't agree with you more. It is just so in life as well, we each must to do our part. God is calling us to take an active role. Fr. Gadberry, please refer to the analogy often, our world cannot hear it enough, especially in "today's" world. Thank you!
Such a great witness and story of how to live whatever God is calling us to do in our lives...not just priesthood, but in all our lives.
Beautiful man
Beautiful testament to the love and wisdom of God’s gift to Fr. Stephen. Thank you and God’s guidance always.
Let us keep praying for more ordained vocations! Dn. Gonzalez, St. Robert Bellarmine (Burbank CA)
Thank you for this beautiful film. God bless Fr Stephen and the Word on Fire team.
If you ever visit The Netherlands, I will ask you for a hug!
As a musician, the metaphor of the orchestra that everyone had their own part to play really resonated with me. It's similar to how St. Paul writes in the first letter to the Corinthians (13:12-26) that we all have different roles to play and one cannot play another's role because it won't work. Thank you, Word on Fire Institute and Fr Stephen for this film!
I Love Music, too and it was suggested that I become a Priest during my youth, but the only problem was I liked girls,so I kept Harmony via School bands, etc.(Drums) is the lifelong instrument. Perhaps,I could have made it through Theology School or Seminary as I had always enjoyed Church, too.
Thank you for opening your heart in this way. Your story of faith and love is inspiring. Prayers always for the clergy.
It is one of the most inspirational testamony I have ever heard. I loved the way you mentioned Fulton Sheen. I also loved him, but Jesus I love the most. Blessings in aboundance to you. Amen
Beautiful story. Thank you, Fr. Steve, for showing us how we can evangelize in our everyday life. And also for challenging us to go one step further in our faith life❣️🙏
It's that one step further that makes all the difference
thank you for sharing your testimonial. so inspiring and feel the closeness to God.
What a wonderful testimony inspiring all to live the life that Christ intended for us, showing us how to evangelize with our life in everything we do with everyone we meet!
I stumbled across this this evening and it is exactly what my heart needed to hear. Your story is so heartfelt so beautiful. I loved your journey and how powerfully and love you are with Christ and with people and your mission. You are a great shepherd for Christ and for his flock. I shared with my nephews and my sisters and I put it on Facebook because I believe you will draw people closer to the Catholic faith. And those who might be interested in what it means to be a Catholic will be inspired by your journey. I loved what you said at the end you’ve inspired me to be not afraid to know that God is directing my path and I just need to let go. I love being Catholic I have never strayed from it and I am a Catholic that loves to learn and deep in my faith. Thank you for sharing this wonderful heartfelt story of your journey to this day.
A beautiful testimony, Father. Thank you. Kathy Hunt, Portland, Oregon.
Wonderful!
Oh my goodness. I am seeing this on May 28, 2024! God willing we will meet one day! Happy Anniversary of your ordination.
Praise the Lord!!! Mary!!!
(You were ordained on my maternal grandmother’s birthday.)
Fantastically produced and your story is both inspirational and joyful. Your humanity is evident and that makes you relatable and approachable. I loved your analogy between music and the faith! God bless you.
Father, you make me proud to be Catholic
Beautiful and inspiring story of a Catholic priest Father Cadberry. Strengthens ones faith and love through Fr Cadberry's witnessing of God's love for humanity.
Loved your story! Thank you for sharing
What an amazing story, May God guide and protect you Father and all priests around the world. 🙏🙏🙏
This always my prayers
Thank you! God bless you!
"There is just some things in life that you have to do because love requires it" This statement moves through me surely as my faith was cradled through me from birth. Fr's story resonates on different levels... he would be such a great influence for kids who've lost and have had to move through grief. Such a joy his heart and firm grace would encourage movement for those who've had to or have to surrender to grace in grief.
Exceptionally inspirational God bless you ... I will keep you in my prayers and ask you to pray for me also I am 78 years old Strong believer in God's presence in the Eucharist and praying my family and I will be the Catholics we were called to be
why so much emphasis on actually chewing on Jesus' body, when the Bible doesn't give us any indication of such?
please read the Bible and study It - It can cure you of catholicism, Ma'am.
*Happy Sabbath!!!*
will surely pray for you and yours.
@@tony1685 ummm, read St. John's gospel again, with the Cathechism of the Catholic Church. Our Lord Himself says, "unless you eat My Body and drink My Blood, you have no life in you." And for that reason many left because it isn't an easy thing to accept if you have no faith.
@@missyroo i have read it, it doesn't say to chant nor pray to humans. and Ecc 9:5 shows that when a human dies, they _'know nothing'_ .
so Mary 'knows nothing' right now.
it's it also interesting that, rather than address what i've written, about direct and unmistaken Commands - you change the goal posts and the focus of our discussion and bring up another topic which the Bible is excessively clear about as well.
you've attempted to use Scripture i've posted to contradict or supersede another passage.
this isn't using integrity at all.
@@missyroo oh, and the 'catechism' of the catholic 'church' isn't in agreement with Scripture - therefore it's not inspired, according to Isaiah 8:20.
and there are theological additions which also don't match - therefore you're 'church' is guilt of breaking Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32 and Revelation 18:22.
you might want to read those to see what this 'church' is inheriting because of it's tampering with Truth.
So eloquent and well spoken in conveying his message. I found myself so very engaged and feeling supported.
What a wonderful story, life and inspiration. If I was younger I’d consider becoming a deacon, but alas, the Dear Lord had a different path for me, and I must be at peace with this. 🙏🏼✝️
Thank you!!
