    Funny you put out this video today as I was just listening to Time Heals Nothing this week in the car. To me, it sounds like the microphones on the guitar cab(s) are out of phase on this album, or that a guitar track was artificially doubled and delayed to give it a stereo effect. Same as on Deftones' album Adrenaline.

      Ya dude I almost said that in the video about the phasing, dual microphones maybe not set up quite right? But in the “guitar only” part I hear that too. Part of the charm haha! Def not recorded in a “dead” room either haha!

      @@brokenlevelmusic Speaking of room, it could be a room mic that's out of phase. Not my favorite Crowbar tone but definitely makes it unique indeed!

    BBE Sonic Maximizer 332 rack units through the mid nineties from what I’ve read throughout the years. Kirk also used the stompbox version too.

    Kirk was said to have used a Yellow Boss Overdrive prior to Sammy Joining on Odd Fellows, to which they switched to a Metal Zone. SD-1, OD-3, OS-2 not too sure which one. But it is in a Sammy Interview where he mentions that he put him onto the Metal Zone Boost Method. So I imagine that everything from Obedience to Broken Glass all have the Yellow OD.
    Another thing rarely mentioned is pickups. Kirk used to use the old Charvel, I don’t know what pickups he used other than the fact that they were Seymour Duncans.
    For Cabs i’d stick to a V30 type or Jaguar/GB type speaker.
    I’m excited to see what you do with the cover!! Can’t wait.

      Right on man great stuff! Thanks! Sounds like EMG81’s was his go to🤘

      @@brokenlevelmusic No Problem!! Nice, I wonder when he switched over to EMGs! I did notice his LTD Viper had EMGs but his Dean ML and Charvel seemed to have SDs. You should definitely get your hands on an sd-1 or os-2. I boost my Randall with an OS-2 occasionally and it sounds so fucking nasty, I love it.

      @@diztortedvisionz ya I’ll def be getting an SD-1🤘

      @@brokenlevelmusic SD-1s sound great, one day you should try an os-2 they got even more on board gain for an OD and it’s moreso smooth and fuller and less spongy than a SD-1

    I have some knowledge, early crowbar was straight Randall heads. Then eventually a boss SD-1 , then into the metal zone era. I know he used his Charvel San Dimas with EMG81 since day one. I believe the cabinets were basically always Mesa Oversized with V30's. Sammy told me they used those Mesa's for a long time.

    • @brokenlevelmusic
      @brokenlevelmusic  2 года назад +1

      What up Josh! Thanks bro, but dammit, Mesa w/ V30’s🤦‍♂️ what do you thinks the closest, that I have? And u think Time Heals Nothing era was a SD-1 for boost?

      @joshww2339 2 года назад

      @@brokenlevelmusic Honestly you probably could get close with that Ampeg Cabinet. I love the tone and how it was captured on time heals nothing. Embracing Emptiness is one of my favorites ever.
      The guitar tone is pretty "dry" might just be straight heads.

    I remember read an interview years ago about his early rig. He said at around that time he was using a RG100ht rack mount, mxr 10 band stereo EQ blue face and Randall jaguar front loaded cabs. Guitar was his Charvel with Duncan Distortion for sure.
    I believe by the time that album was recorded he had switched to Mesa V30 cabs. That's what that album sounds like to me. Rg100ht, mxr eq, Charvel Duncan Distortion, and Mesa V30 cab. And also he uses a Boss NS2 noise gate.
    The Randall jaguar cabs have a smoother blanketed tone and I don't hear that on this album. Also the metal zone has a darker flatter tone the the mxr eq has. I don't hear that in that album either.

      @@brokenlevelmusic Just saw some videos around 94-96 looks like he had a Boss SD-1 NS-2 and BBE 462 with RG100ht and Mesa V30 cabs Charvel so Duncan Distortion. Probably what he recorded with as well.
