Cheers for the reference. I don't know those last three songs as I only own two physical crowbar albums, time heals nothing and odd fellows rest, which is pure gold from intro to the end of that iron maiden cover (best cover of it too)

The fact he writes all of these riffs without any theory knowledge at all is pretty crazy. He says he doesn’t even know what a third or fifth is. All of these songs just come to him.

@@jakeybball Spotify is useless to me. I have every Crowbar album and many other albums, obscure or not obscure which often aren't even on spotify. I'm thankful I have all my albums on my PC whenever I need them.

Crowbar has so many killer riffs. I guess my favorite is the intro song on the "Odd Fellows Rest" albums. It's also the outro riff on On Frozen Ground off the same record. That riff is soooo heavy!!
As someone who is learning to play guitar and bass mainly with Crowbar and Type O Negative songs, this is one of the best videos ever. My head burns while I'm trying to learn that 'Melvins-type' part in "To carry the load"

Planets Collide is a masterpiece! So much emotion in that song and one of the greatest riffs in metal.

Great video, I learned a lot from this short video, it's always great to hear musicians you love talk about how they come about their riffs, it really helps musicians like myself get into a similar mindset.

A friend of mine showed me that to build a mountain song and I thought it fits so well playing armored Core 6 fighting Balteus I listen to it on repeat for the entire fight which I admit took me about a hundred tries. So about 5 hours.
Remember Kirk playing the NOLA metal circuit when he was in Victorian Blitz back in the late 80s/early 90s.
They used to play at a place called What's Up in Slidell about once a month.

For anybody who’s curious.. I met him in person years ago, we drank blue and smoked hash in Toronto while he toured with Down. He didn’t have to acknowledge my existence and he was the nicest fucking guy on the planet and joked around with my very drunk ass like he knew me. They say you never want to meet your hero’s but Kirk is without a doubt an exception to the rule.
