Damn, my comment made it into a Broken level video. Love you brotha! Tone is filthy, been jamming this record non stop since your first video.
Thanks brother, and thats killer, fun to back a blast some oldies haha👊🤘
legit one of if not the best metal guitar channel on youtube
🙏🤘Hope to have my new system up and running soon so I can get back to some better quality content🤘
man that mic phasing part was great; that tone is just.. fucking life crushing, drag you down to the deepest depths levels of heavy. I love it!
Right on man👊🤘
Good stuff brother! 🤘🏼 The only thing missing is that Louisiana juju!!!
Thanks man! Ya totally haha🤘
Very well done. I think the difference is with the pickups and cab. He definitely used a Duncan Distortion.
And his cab was a Mesa oversized rectifier cab. That cab itself makes a big impact. And the Duncan has a different grind than EMG. But your chops are there you are in the groove for sure.
I think Kirk used a Seymour invader at that point in his charvel I’m unsure though, either way killer video. There is videos of Kirk around that time using a pq3 live but he may have been borrowing dimes rack.
The Nazgul has only existed for around 10 years so if he was using Seymour Duncan I’d guess it would be either a JB or Distortion
@@timcoward7205 idk why I said Nazgul I meant invader, but I believe he used a super distortion aswell.
You are one of the only Channels to give Crowbar so much love. As usual great video 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
🙏👊🤘
Love the days where bands had such epic and unique tones, I bet the engineer screwed up phasing while recording with those room mics and the band thought "damn that sounds massive" and stuck with it. I think every Crowbar tone suits their respective albums perfectly. Self-titled was aggressive and angry, Time was depressing, Glass once again more hardcore, Odd Fellows kind of grungy and raw, Sonic Excess was huge and beautiful, etc
That's one mean tone brother. Sounds amazing.
🙏🤘
Wow just seeing this fuck -got so close it with that tone air !
Holy shit the tone @ 5:11 is close to the original! It's just missing a bit of tightness that I wonder if an SD-1 can get. I'd say try those settings again but with the Metal Zone instead... ? 🤘
Yes sir, mz is smoother for sure!
Pure beefy tone !! Geezus! 🤘💀
Awesome video. I feel like Kirk palm mutes a lot harder and uses more gain than what you have here. Not saying your playing is bad cause it’s not. A little more tone on that OD pedal as well but you are 90% spot on with this which is impressive brother!
🔥
Love these tone videos.
Appreciate it Tony👊🤘
The old school rack mounted bbe sonic maximizer is one of the best things I have ever owned. I think i got it in 1996 or so. No idea about the pedal version that came out later.
Yes, I think you really succeeded in getting Time Heals Noting guitar tone ! With this phasing thing, I get why this tone is so special ! But to my taste, Time Heals Nothing is one of Crowbar's album with the worst guitar tone. The other one being Obedience Thru suffering. I really can't listen to these two LPs because of their guitar tones... I discovered Crowbar with the "Crowbar" album, and I was so disapointed when I heard Times Heals Noting... I was very happy when they released Broken Glass, good guitar tone again ! What about making another video about another Crowbar album guitar tones (not Obedience Thru suffering one of course !!) ? By the way, as I am very found of Crowbar, you can find in Ultimate-Guitar site something like 55 Guitar / Bass / Drum GuitarPro5 tabs I made for Crowbar songs.
Time Heals Nothing is probably my favorite Crowbar guitar tone 😅 Self Titled and Broken Glass are amazing too, but Time Heals Nothing is a 10/10 on all fronts
@@kylelyons6088You're lucky : now you've got all the secrets to recreate the tone of your favorite Crowbar album !
@@kylelyons6088 I think it fits the album. The songs are mostly mid tempo and very depressing and bleak. I wouldn't want it any other way. But I agree with OP that Obedience has a pretty terrible tone (except Waiting in Silence cause that is an iconic genre defining song)
I'd say sounds pretty good coming through RUclips we're not going to hear it the Way You Are of course what I really appreciate the appreciation will you show crowbar and Kirk
did he not use the metal zone until he met SAmmy? was wondering about that.
Kirk use boss metal zone pedal for more gain
Not really gain but front end boost. No distortion nob, no tone nob, full volume.
In the market for a Randall RG found an Randall RG 100 classic for a good deal, but no little about it. So, what’s the difference between the RG100classic and the RG100es. Can I get the Dime/ southern groove/sludge tone on the classic and can I achieve it, if I hook it up with some eqs and OD boost for the Dime tone or should I just get and save for the 100es.
Ya man, I haven’t played through that particular amp, def in the same family, but I’m sure you can get in the ballpark by experimenting with all the known dime gear. MXR six band, Furman pq’s, correct pickups, theres a ton of vids on his gear out there! Have fun man🤘
To my ears, that V30 nails it. There's just a certain "crush" those have, nasty as fuck. Also, to my knowledge Kirk always Maxes the Presence knob on the amp.
Indeed🤘
Oh yeah absolutely but that mostly started during Broken Glass where he had a huge scooped tone. His 1 guitar live sounded like 4. Maybe he lost a bit of high end in his hearing over the years lol
NONE HEAVIER.
