Sonic excess in its purest form is such a solid album imo, so much emotion and it’s worth a reaction
A band that should have much more recognition than it does! Kirk Windstein vocalist and guitarist is also part of Down as guitarist along with Phil Anselmo (Pantera), talking about Sludge/Doom/Stoner, NOLA is an album that deserves to be heard.
NOLA is totally worth it, incredible album, I was shocked to see the team behind it back when it was released. There was no internet, I didn1t know anything about it and one copy simply popped out of nowhere in my inner brazilian town. it grabbed me instantaneously. Been listening to it since 1994? 1995? something like that... my kitty is called Nola. :)
I never seen someone so happy with others depression like this 😂 anyway I love Crowbar too. I think you would like Corrosion of Conformity and Down too.
Nobody at Crowbar is depressed. xoxo Kirk and Robin.❤
I always admired Craig Nunenmacher's drumming with Crowbar. Even given the slow tempo of many of their songs he always found a way to use the "space" within that tempo to play something creative and interesting.
Doom and Stoner Metal will be right up your alley as well. Check out Pentagram, Candlemass, Saint Vitus, Trouble, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Kyuss Uncle Acid etc..
Literally just saw them two weeks ago!! Legendary band that deserves so much more recognition than what they get.
EYEHATEGOD next! More New Orleans Sludge!
check out Acid Bath- When the Kite String Pops full album
if you love this type of music. Same guitarist that played for this band was in Acid Bath first. Both insanely sick and talented bands.
Sammy's not on this album, odd fellows rest - sonic excess is the sammy era
I am very glad you're getting into sludge. I like artists from every genre, but sludge is where my heart lies.
Kirk Windstein will forever be one of my favorite riff writers ever. His ability to make so many good sounding riffs is crazy to me, they’re pretty simple for the most part but get the job done
"In the grimdarkness of the future... there is only war."
I recommend CROWBAR Broken Glass or Odd Fellows Rest, my fave two CROWBAR albums
I agree. Broken Glass is the best "older" Crowbar, Odd Fellows Rest and Sonic Excess are the best "newer" Crowbar
broken glass and odd fellows both have jimmy bower on drums so they're a tight couple imo. plus i remember buying both on cd when i was a mere teenager. odd fellows rest i bought at virgin megastore the week it came out, picked the cd up then and had lunch with my mum and sister. so weird what you remember haha@@StanleyGable
😅 kira hyped with Crowbar this is great 🙏🏻
Crowbar have so many great rainy day doom and gloom songs. Odd Fellows Rest is another awesome album that I feel is underappreciated among their discography. Kurt Windstein is involved in a couple of other bands I think you might like, Kira. Kingdom of Sorrow, and Down with Phil Anselmo from Pantera.
Odd fellows rest is almost everyone 's favourite! Definitely one of their best
Kira rocks 🎸 !!
Can confirm!😎👍✨
This reaction makes me appreciate life. Thanks
Wonderful Video again. Thanks.
Not Sludge, but I think you would love the guitars on Helmet Albums, I would suggest Meantime
How very heart-warming to see you so captivated by the mighty Crowbar! That Kirk fella sure can spit out a mighty riff, wouldn't you say? Plenty more delights await you in their discography.
Allow me while I'm here to suggest a few other bands in the heavy realm, namely Goatsnake, Elder, Torche, Hark and Spirit Caravan. Maybe you might dip into them at some point. Ah, so many bands, so little time. Thanks, Kira, all the best.
I feel the burning sun is my favorite crowbar song. Such a slept on band.
Equilibrium is an underrated album
Crow bar is a band i didn't listen to until a couple of years ago, and i can't believe I'd sleep in them. My favorite by them is odd fellows rest.
Thanks for sharing, always enjoy your enthusiasm 😊
You are amazing Kira. Love your reaction. You're so into it.
Caught them live in '93. The grooves are off the charts.
I knew I liked you. Awesome reaction and choice of record.
Hell yeah, Crowbar are the best band around.
I subscribed because you're enjoying yourself so damn much😂🤘 you better catch them live and take a video they are bad ass live!
Check out Into Darkness by the band Winter for early roots of sludge with a downtuned edge; also Come to Grief by Grief (released around 93-94) and of course NOLA by the mighty Down (members of Crowbar, Pantera, Eyehategod and Corrosion of Conformity)
take as needed for pain solos any sludge album #truth
this album is the fucking HARDEST shit ever. none fucking heavier
These guys are awesome live! I had the opportunity to meet Kirk Windstein the frontman... he's a super cool dude!
yes soo sick
I've known of these guys since freshmen year of high school (1995) but I haven't really listened to them. I thought of them as one of the most extreme heavy bands, but after getting into the Melvins in more recent years, this makes sense and is pretty song oriented underneath the sludge.
Odd Fellows Rest & Sonic Excess In It's Purest Form are my fav Crowbar albums. Sever The Wicked Hand is also pretty beautiful
Definately listen to Kirk Windstein's solo LP 'Dream In Motion'.
new sub. i love the reaction please please please do more CROWBAR!
The mighty Crowbar. God how I love this band. I first heard them just after Broken Glass was released and a friend played it to me. Been a fan ever since. No one quite hits anguish, pain and the strength to rise above like Kirk. So glad you vibe with them. 🤘
Some of the fattest (no pun intended) grooviest riffing in metal
You liked that, check out Down and Superjoint Ritual. A culmination of groovy heaviness. That's two different bands btw. Crowbar massively involved in Down (Kirk, Todd, Bower and Pat). It's a different tune, but my dog, essential.
I don't do patreon etc (I should be paid for stretching your world 😁) so whoever does, get it on.
Weirdly, if you liked Sepultura, you'll like them, I think. Would love to see you hear it.
(A bonus listen - Nailbomb)
As absurd as this is to say, given the context, your reaction to this album, and Will That Never Dies in particular, gives me so much damned joy, it's ridiculous. I've listened to Crowbar for somewhere around 30 odd years, and I do not understand how they are not more widely appreciated. Even among my other doomed and depressed peers. They scratch an itch that I haven't been able to find relief for elsewhere. 'Sonic Excess...' is probably my favourite album of theirs, but all their "eras" have heavy merit.
i'd love to see more crowbar reactions! theres not many people reaction to them for whatever reason :( lots of good albums. i'd heavily suggest odd fellows rest, broken glass, sonic excess in its purest form or time heals nothing. can't go wrong with any of them
Tremendoo, una de mis bandas favoritas Kiraa 😅❤
NOLA by Down, it will knock your socks off. Groovy, heavy, Phil Anselmo on vocals, legendary album! I am a huge Metallica, Pantera, Anthrax fan (even have my name on one Anthrax album) but Down is the only band I have a dedicated tattoo about.
Kirk Windstein from crowbar is in Down also.
The next Crowbar album you should listen to is called Odd Fellows Rest. From beginning to end, nothing but bangers in my opinion, it also has a more somber tone.
Thats how I felt when I bought time heals nothing 1995. Saw them first at Beavis&Butthead. Kirk is the exact opposite of the crowbar songs. Outgoing, chilled and happy. Not depressed at all!😊❤greetz to Kirk, Robin, Matt, Sexy T and Phil
Odd Fellows next! Crowbar are the riff masters. I also recommend Melvin's "Houdini" for some great sludge.
You should listen to Opeth next
This one and Broken Glass are 🔥
None Heavier!
The perfect transition to Doom Metal reaction
I don't thing Crowbar has ever done anything that wasn't absolutely great. My favorite album is "Sonic Excess In Its Purest Form" followed by "Broken Glass" then this album
Like listening to Motörhead on ludes.
Such an amazing album a real (hardcorish) metal classic bringing back sweet memories back from mid-90´s when listened this and 3rd & 4th equally grrreat Crowbar recs a LOT and sure of course still Love and sure also listen them from time to time Yep!
kirk sings and plays
Hello Mira, it's good to see you 🥰
This band reminded me of Sepultura, it's good to meet bands with you.
Greetings from Colombia
Thank you so much for looking into some less reacted bands....keep it up. You can't limit yourself when it comes to music, there's SOOOO much great music out there (from different decades and all moods).
You gotta check out High on Fire for a similar doomy/guttaral vibe. I think Blessed Black Wings is some of their best work
Yes! Crowbar.... the original Mr. Meseeks...
Like others have, I'd also suggest Down and their album NOLA... which is a near perfect album IMO. And if you really wanna tap into those negative feelings, try EyeHateGod. Take As Needed for Pain is their 'classic' album (1993) and their self-titled is a little more recent (2014), but still good. Just... older stuff... don't bother trying to find lyrics... not even sure the vocalist knows... the more recent stuff you can somewhat understand him, lol.
7:29 I did the same reaction 😮
I think the No quarter cover sounds great and works great in the album as a hook for new listeners.
Have you heard of SOILENT GREEN. Great band
HELL YEAH!!! If you like existence is punishment, I think you'll love planets collide, and odd fellows rest, the album it came from. IMO, it's the band's best
You should react to Time Heals Nothing. It’s the album they made before this one. Similar vibe but I kinda like it better
If you want to hear an interesting mix of Guitar sounds, with some sludge, you should check out FLOOR - self titled, FLOOR - Oblation.
One of the guitarists is currently in a very sludgy band called Torche. Not a doomy sludge, more of an uplifting sludge.
Existence is Punishment is one of my favorite songs (thanks to Beavis & Butthead).
Тяжёлый рок, но обзор норм.
Crowbar had its own genre...we always called it at the time "Fat Metal"
Its just slow...hard...and guttural.
You really need to do odd fellows rest. Youll love planets collide. Kirks vocals got way more badass as each album progresses. Kirk is also the guitarist and writes all the riffs.
4:40
just curious what ur background is?
If you like this I have a feeling you would also like Corrosion Of Conformity, Machine Head, and Biohazard.
If I had to describe crowbar in two words I’d say “masculine emotion”
You're so adorable
MORE SABBATHH
The Beavis and Butthead clips of them watching Crowbar are hilarious FYI
you should lisen to Dead Prez - Let's get free, Gza - Liquid swords, Ghost face - Ironman, Mobb deep - infamous, Wu-syndicate. (Albums)
I want to die
Song suggesting
Iron maiden-the talisman
Check out KARP - SUPLEX... Feel good 90's sludge
Kirk vocals always sound like he’s passing a kidney stone (I’m not saying that’s a bad thing)
Or like he’s trying to push out biggest doodoo ever but it won’t come out oh ahh ahh ahh I think that’s how the vocals on the breakdown of ,,all I had i gave’’ were recorded 💪🔥
Just listen to Eyehategod
After a cheery song title such as "I Have Failed"... why not try one called "As I Die" by the band Paradise Lost ? They have doomy Sabbath-style riffs combined with influences from Joy Division and other British post-punk bands. They never made the same album twice, they are constantly evolving but the melancholic aspect of their music is always present no matter if they do a Death Metal album or something that sounds like Depeche Mode (and they did !). Hope this peaked your curiosity. Keep on rockin', your videos are awesome !
Riffs heavy and slow like glaciers destroying everything
Crowbar Is Crowbent
"The Cemetary Angels" are Crowbar and Mr. Windstein at their sludgy best.
Please react to Opeth "Watershed" in full length. Its a prog masterpiece.
Like the music but the singer doesn't do it for me.
Holy shit reaction videos are cringe
Do some D.R.I. Or S.O.D. Also the exploited and G.B.H.!!.
